Anybody?????!!!!!...does this mean I'm stuck with a foggy lens forever.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using XDA App

Someone Told me to go to AT&T and see if they will clean it for you... Might as well try Hope this helps

But no AT&T for me!!!! I dont live in the US, I visited US, bought this phone on Craigslist Sandiego. Came back home to India!!!!!!!!!!...Does this mean again I got no chance. :-(
I found this video finally, the keyword that did it was "dismantling" inspire 4G.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC5KydQ52x4
Please please suggest shall I go ahead step by step looking at this video. This does seem to be a little delicate!!!!!!!!...
Again any suggestions would be nice.
PS: Warning guys, this happened due to me taking the phone into a hot steaming shower room. Not exactly under the shower. But seems like moisture did creep in!!!..I thought these parts were vacuum or airtight packed!!!?!?!?!..maybe I was wrong!!
Please help guys..that guy in the video does make it look very easy. Is it really that easy.
Thanks,
D

Put it in a bag of rice over night. Rice absorbs moisture.

Lol...rice bag!!! will try that and then guys, I am going to open this sucker up...and clean the lens with a cleaning cloth. Damn!!!,,,will keep u posted....wish me luck..

How to debrand Inspire? (Physically remove AT&T logo from the back of the phone)

Has anyone successfully done this? If so, how did you do it? I'm speaking of the back of the Inspire, the carrier logo, and how to actually remove it.
I've heard that Atrix users were successful in using a U.S. penny to scratch it off with no marks. How would we accomplish this on the Inspire?

what does it matter if the logo is displayed on the back of the phone?? does it make it work better? the things some people stress over..
Sell it as Desire HD on ebay?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App but its called Inspire 4g in USA
its not a Desire HD
If this is something that's important for you, perhaps you might try some light solvent (IF the metal body is in fact not painted, which it doesn't appear to be).
The logo is silk-screened on with some kind of ink/paint, it's not etched, so it would probably come off with a little help.
If I wanted to do it, I'd try rubbing alcohol and a qtip first. Might take awhile longer than trying to scrape it off, but it would be the least risky way.
Running metal against metal has an abrasive effect, whether these penny-rubbing people can perceive it or not. Just a fact.

Who's stressing? I just asked a simple question. No where did I indicate that it was important, or that it was bothering me. The things people infer .

back in the good old days we used to use sugar cubes to rub logo's off with no marking...
sand paper work for me

I have tried 100% ethanol and 100% acetone with no luck, you will just end up cleaning your phone. You will need some sort of gentle abrasive to get it off. I might even suggest Brasso as it is a solvent and mild abrasive in one, but don't blame me if you mess up your finish.
I was going to recommend the same thing.
An old trick with the HTC Tytn and TytnII (Kaiser/Tilt) was to use a sugar cube.
The sugar was tougher than the paint but softer than the metal so it did not scratch.
Might be worth a shot.
**EDIT**
Just found an old thread on it!

Heh. If acetone won't do it, nothing will, without some kind of abrasive, as you say.

[Q] Inspire Digitizer Replacement

Got an inspire for an amazing price. (less than 200).
But it has a crack in the digitizer, I intend on fixing it for 40-80 dollars.
I've done this several times with iphones and arias, but I heard the Inspire is really easy to screw up and crack the screen (lcd)
Has anyone attempted digitizer replacement? Any instruction guides?
I looked on youtube but no one actually does it, they just comment on how it could be done.
All help is appreciated.
Thanks
Did you check if anyone has done it for a desire HD?

wow too much stuff to do but interesting lol, would try just for fun if my phone was not so expensive LOL!!!
I'll try it myself and make a video for the community.
It looks pretty complicated and involved, but fortunately I'm patient and the playstation network is still down, which means I have a lot of time.
If I can do it myself its $40 if not, its $145 for HTC or A person I know that'll do it for 80 and up.
Just finished doing this procedure. Never try it.... just send the phone to HTC. The good thing is I learned that I will never drop this phone for fear of having to do this again

Lol I used that same video as a guide just to remove the back cover housing and lemme tell you...just taking off the GPS cover alone was not fun. Then again I didn't have the tools that the woman had except for the provided screw driver...I had to improvise and use my nail manicure kit ^_^ Twas all worth it in the end tho. I bought the Desire HD backing to replace the AT&T one and it looks sooo much better.
I'm usually comfortable disassembling phones because I used to replace blackberry screens all the time but the Inspire makes disassembling look like dissecting human organs @[email protected] lol I'm sorry...was that too much?

Inspire off topic story

See I plan my eventful night, then I had to go with my backup plan. I drank to much and instead going with my gut feeling. I threw up red g2 all over carpet, and my phone got wet. I am hoping my inspire didn't get wet inside, I took battery, sim and memory card out. Any other suggestions, it is just sitting and drying. And does anyone know how to clean g2 red out of carpet.
Thanks for reading and any suggestions will help

You have some plain white uncooked rice? I hear it does wonders for drawing the moisture out. I would bury it in a bowl of rice and wait at LEAST 24 hours before turning it on, just to be sure.

I can second the rice "theory". I've used it a couple times. Actually had my phone submerged. Left in rice for 3 days, still worked. I might add that I was told instant rice and not regular, and its better to seal it in a zip lock bag. Either way, I used instant and it has always worked. Good Luck!
Lol at this
I was always curious about this method... what about the leftover pieces in your phone and the residue it would leave behind?

Yep rice is a life saver. The wife washed her iPod nano. In water for 45 minutes. Put it in rice for 5 days. Works no problems.

[Q] Removing Scratches

Recently, I accidentally scratched my screen. Does anyone know of a way to either remove the scratch or fill it?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
learn your lesson and put a screen protector on it. theres no way to remove the scratch but a screen protector could help make it less visible.
OMG!!!
Sensation's screen supposed to Gorilla Glass. Please have a look onto below link's list.
http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/htc
Could u also pls let us know exactly how this happended ?
OMGWTFBBQ!!
GG isn't scratch proof, it's scratch resistant. I bet this same scratch on a non GG device would have been awful or maybe even cracked the screen.
OP - the only thing I know of to do is get a good screen protector. A lot of times the screen protector will make the scratch really hard to see.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
ofcourse there are ways to fill the scratches...heard very good stories about displex http://www.displex.com/
displex is fake... I bought it one time for my phone and it did NOTHING.
Thanks. I will thank your posts when I get back to my computer, because the xda app doesnt have a thanks button.
I will get a screen protector. Also, I was able to make the acratch smaller by putting toothpaste on it.

Displex worked fine for me many years ago on an old SE. Not sure with the new touch screens. And presumably gorilla glass, if indeed harder to scratch, will be hard to polish out any scratches.
If anyone has the misfortune to trash their Sensation may be they will do a little test on the screen with toothpaste and Displex?

Freaking hilarious!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
you could always try the little kit that you can buy that repairs chips in a cars windscreen.. its basically a resin that fills in the chip in a windscreen to virtually nothing and for a scratch it may fill the hole and leave just a small remnant of the scratch... this is basically because you obviously see through a windscreen and it works well for that application...
failing that as others have said you will have to suck it up or find a replacement screen on ebay and put a screen protector on it.. i seen a replacement screen for $50 on ebay and if the scratch is that bad maybe thats another option

Sensation takes a fall...

...and lands without a scratch!
My gf dropped my phone tonight while taking a picture at dinner. Phone fell from about 1.2m, hit her leg on the way down and hit the hard tile floor screen side down with quite a bit of force.
Phone was naked and is still in perfect condition!
Whew! and Woohoo!!!

Mine falls 3 times, from 1,5m, 2m... even when running for bus, on brick... no scratch at all, except small scratchen on back
Mine fell once completely flat with the screen facing down. I was at a store and the crash sounded so bad that even the cashier made a bad face. The phone looked fine but seems like the vibrate motor came a bit loose.

Yeah, I think my vibrate motor became loose after a bad fall too. Now every time my phone stops vibrating, I tap the bottom back of the phone, but I might need to tighten it somehow D':

Well, mine was in the breast pocket of my suit the other day when I was shot. It took the bullet but the force still threw me backwards into a busy road where I was run over by a bus...not a scratch on me or the phone. No, wait a minute, none of that happened ; )
I will say that the screen is far less scratch resistant than my old HD2 which didn't need a screen protector, whereas this one definitely does. Corning's gorilla (Gerald) obviously had a bad day when he made the glass for my phone.
