[Q] Native CM7 lockscreens - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Are there are new native CM7 lockscreens? Getting bored of the current ones and would like to try some news ones out. If not then I'll go back to widget locker.
Thanks

The newest one is called Ring. Its a HTC sence 3.0 style lockscrren ( not sure if you have seen it yet, it came out 2 months ago)
Widgetlocker?! Have fun slowing down your phone and wasting battery life by having an app run on top of your stock lock screen. Not replacing it. On top of it.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk

Yeah I've used that one for a bit, don't really like it that much though. Hoping there will be an ICS one soon as that looks really nice
Lol, yeah Widget locker does suck a bit, but I like having my phone look good!

[Q] New Sense UI?

So I've been seein the EVO 3D, and I really like its new sense ui. You can change the lockscreen with weather and when you slide through the screens there is a new carasel look and more. I am just wondering two things. 1. Is there any way to get that Sense ported over to our Inspire's? 2. If we can't, do you think that the Inspire will ever get that update?

This update is in fact coming to devices with Sense. It's going to the HTC Evo-3D first though. It's kind of to showcase it. Hit Google. There are articles everywhere for it.
As long as it isn't as intrusive as the current sense...

I actually prefer it to vanilla Android. I ran cm for a day and flashed design gears Rom back over it. I have great battery life so far, so it really doesn't bother me. I feel almost "privileged" to have it since I own an HTC device.
You really can't beat the dialer, messaging app and keyboard. I know there are skins to out on other keyboards but I can't get the same performance as I can the built in HTC keyboard.
Plus I'm a huge sucker for the clock....

I love sense as well, but mainly I was refering to it hogging ram and cpu. I am sure there are ways they can optimize it better.
After seeing your screen shot in the other thread I'm flashing a gb Rom back. Killer battery life governs.

Sense 3.0 ROM vs CM7 - Decisions!

So, is anyone else as confused about what to do here? I really want CM7 and an AOSP-like experience. But after using the Das Bamf 2.0 ROM, which only contains flashes of Sense 3.0, and seeing the Preview ROM as well, I am truly torn. The Sense that comes with the TB--to me--leaves alot to be desired. But 3.0? There is a HUGE upgrade! But there is just something about CM7 without the manufacturer bloat, the simple Dialer/Contacts/Notification bar. It's just clean.
I am not sure which one we will have working first as a daily driver (although some are already using both as daily's--I prefer to wait until they are somewhat more refined).
What are you guys going to do given the choice?
CM7?
3.0?
Wait for Unrooted Gingerbread?
I love BAMF GingerREMIX v2.0 Beta #6..It works great, and its stable. Great Battery Life.
Well waiting for unrooted gingerbread is silly. I feel that like the ASOP cm7 is a strong driver but its a bit too plain for me. Also gingerbread isn't that great by itself. I mean cosmetically speaking it isn't much of a change from froyo. I really do like the sense 3.0 aspects. They just add so much but that's just one guys oppion.

What's so great about Sense 3.0? The only major difference I saw was the lock screen icons. I just got widget locker from the market and that lets you fully customize your lock screen.
I'm torn as well but decided on using BAMF Stripped V1.7. I use ADW EX as my launcher for it and I love it! It gives me the feel of CM7 but it runs much smoother than CM7 ever has on my device. I love CM7/AOSP type stuff but with the BAMF Stripped version my phone runs great and still has some nice stylings to it as well. So basically if you like AOSP/Sense you can run the same ROM as I am and kind of have elements of both.

haha, yeah. If I cared about twitter that much I'd just add a twitter widget to my lock screen.
My lock screen currently has:
Pandora widget
Winamp widget
Sound toggle widget
phone, gmail, handcent icons
Clock widget
alarm widget
battery % widget
slide to the right to unlock
slide to the left to open camera
AND I can drag down the notifcation bar from the lock screen.
Beats the hell out of the Sense 3.0 lock screen. But forget that... what's so cool about Sense 3.0?
CM7/AOSP over Sense any day for me.
I'm getting better battery life on CM7 now than on any previous ROM as well.
I started with the OG Droid and ran CM most of the time and loved it. My wife had the Eris and whenever I picked up her phone I could not stand Sense so I ended up putting CM on that as well.
Now that I have had my Thunderbolt since launch day I'm loving Sense. I flashed CM and played with it for about 4 hours, set everything up the way I like it and then went back to Sense without even making a backup of CM.
CM just seems very plain to me now that I have been using Sense for 3 months.

Haha, yeah. And the twitter widget is not scrollable, and it's fugly.
Bottom line is, if you want pretty go with Sense. If you want better battery life, go CM7.
"What should I use?" is such a loaded question. Everyone that likes sense is going to tell you to use Sense. Everyone that likes CM7 is going to tell you to use CM7.
I love CM7. But up until recently I felt it was unusable. Mostly bc of battery life. On my phone I could literally watch the meter go down. But when I saw a couple of new releases I had to go back. Battery life pwns Sense now (which for me was also horrible -just less horrible).
I think the 3g/4g/wifi hand-off is still having trouble. But I am in a 3g ONLY area. No 4g to connect to and not 1 public wifi hotspot in my community of 2000 people. So that is no biggie for me.
Bottom line is Cm7 is 10000xinfinity better than Sense. But I love CM7.

So false. Everyone is getting varied battery life with CM7 and Bamf... I'm pretty sure I got battery with Sense.
I REALLY like CM7's speed. Navigating between home screens/texts/into the dialer and contacts is so fluid and smooth. I also really like that I can use ADW to make my **** look cooler.
I liked Sense a lot though too, and I'm torn. I thought the lock screen was awesome and had a lot of functionality. I like how my contacts pretty much sync with facebook instantly... I've been on CM7 for 4 days now and only about 1/4 of people's profile pictures have synced. Sense is pretty, and has a lot of pretty awesome apps (the clock app kicks the **** out of the aosp one).
I'm torn.

second this!
I was on Bamf 2.0.5 for about a week. I tried CM 7.1 r4 and had issues. I really liked the lockscreen "ring" on Sense 3.0. Especially how you could set 4 apps on the lock screen and drag them to the ring.
However I tried CM 7.1 R6 and I am sold. It is fast, bloat free and my battery life is the best I have ever had on this 4G phone.
3G to 4G can still be a little squirrelly sometimes, but the AOSP ROM is quick and bloatfree.
Can anyone talk about the camera app in CM7 vs Sense 3.0? I heard that stock AOSP camera app has a lot of problems?

Am I the only one who..

Loves sense 3.0?! I just got my sensation & I'm loving it! The only thing I miss is the scrollable background! You would've thought they'd keep that.
I just love all the widgets!
I also don't see the grip about the screen! Maybe because mine is made in China? I don't have no bad angles & I can see it perfectly in the California sun
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk
No you are not. I think Sense 3.0 is fantastic (didn't have a problem with previous Sense versions as well)
I will back you up on this as well. Sense 3.0 was part of the reason why I got the sensation.
I just wish it was more efficient and the bottom bar was customizable.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Sense 3.0 is definitely a major improvement still excited to get stock gingerbread on here. 3d transitions aren't bad either.
I love it too
It realy make the phone much atractive
Also a huge fan, dungphp's kingdom sense 3.0 was the last Rom I used for almost 2 months, flashed to my HD2 before I sold it :/
Runs MUCH better on the S4G
I just don't like that damn carousel concept taken from SPB shell, doesn't kill anywhere near as nice/functional, kinds seems more like an afterthought on HTC's part
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
In my sensation, i tried using the launcher pro, and ADW Launcher, but used them for a day, and came back to sense 3.0.... i love it... thats the major uplift and the reason for my to upgrade from Desire HD
I like it well enough. I'm excited for other rooms once we get s-off though. Ido with I could disable the turnstile wake up screen and just have my lock screen so I'm not doing two actions to get top the phone!
I love the way it looks. Just wish it wasn't so buggy at times.
no you are not the only one, but I personally gave it up because you can not customize the size of widgets nor add to the number of columns or rows. launcherpro is faster and much more customizable. Also, some live wallpaper is not compatible with it. I do, however, love the lock screen. That is all I use.
Beautiful!

Yes I'm still loving it!

I like the sense 3.0 a lot, its come a long way, I just wish we could easily disable some stuff and customize the bottom dock. like 5 or 7 home screens it too many for me.
I'm using Go Launcher EX, its clean, its light, its customizable, its easy.
I have 2 home screens and 2 docks (on the bottom)
With sense I used to have 80-100mb free ram on normal operation (after a boot)
with go launcher I get 150-200
It consumes less, ram, save battery, run's ultra fast after Ive optimized it of course. But even all of this I have my days where I wish I had sense. Im just waiting for the bootloader to unlock so we can have perm access and just hack and slash sense. that would be the best.

This phone isn't usable without LauncherPro for me.

Thank God for 3rd party launchers. I can't stand Sense and I have given it every chance as well. Apart from the extremely annoying frequent Sense reboots the phone lags and things feel slower than on my old Incredible. Just switching from Sense to LauncherPro without changing anything else I get back over 50MB of RAM. That's ridiculous, talk about bloat.
I still haven't s-off my phone yet but I'm starting to consider it. Especially when we get stable builds from Cyanogen.

Personally, I like HTC's hardware. It's Sense I can always do without. I mean, c'mon! This is a forum for phone modding, not for keeping your phone like stock.

If I can't install the apps I want then the phone is useless. Enjoy limiting what you install on your phone to keep running how you want.
I have been using ADW on it since I got it. I hate Sense and always have. To much eye candy for no apparent reason. Ill take function over form any day of the week.
By the way, I just switched everyone from the other thread regarding this same topic over to ADW from LP and gave them my settings. The 5 that did all agree that ADW is faster than LP with the correct settings. Also, the free version of ADW will not be as fast due to it not having a lot of the settings. You have to purchase ADW EX in order to feel the speed.

I can't figure it out but my phone hates Sense. Even after I uninstalled the Good for Enterprise app which I thought was causing the issues Sense starts slowing down and then craps out after a little while. It literally restarts Sense after every app install or update or even uninstall. I don't think its a memory issue only because there's plenty free but it doesn't happen right after a reboot either. I can't figure it out but it definitely seems like something is leaking memory or corrupting Sense.
When is T-Mobile releasing our update? I'm good using LP for now but it'd be nice to have a proper functioning stock launcher as an option as well.

I was running ADW EX for a few days. It was fast as ****, but I missed the Sense 3.0. Widgets and interface. My phone has no lag at all and works perfect with Sense as well. If it was laggy, I would definitely drop it for ADW. My brother uses Launcher Pro and is a big fan. To each his own.
Totally agree, to each his own.
For me ... this phone is totally usable with Sense...
Each launcher has it's pluses and minuses. There are quite a few alternatives to Sense widgets but none has completely done it for me. Same goes for HTC's apps, especially People/Phone and Email apps.
The major problem with Sense 3 was the many frequent Launcher restarts, which is almost solved now with the custom rom I'm using (CrystalPyramid), been using it for 3 days and it's been as fast as can be for me. I really can't be happier with my Sensation now.
The only two things I really miss about other launchers are changing home number of rows and resizable widgets.

Have you tried playing around with the Memory Usage and other options under LauncherPro's Preferences --> Advanced Settings menu?
I was already pretty happy with LP's performance on my phone, but a couple of experiments with those tweaks made it even better for me. Hopefully it'll make things a little rosier for you too? That is, if you're even interested in LP anymore
I would get the white screen with green HTC logo almost everytime I went out of an app so, started using Launcher Pro. Today just for the frell of it
I decided to download Go Launcher EX. I got say its 1, Free, 2, there are
loads of free themes and 3 customizable!
The guy at T-Mobile said that once this phone gets 2.3.4 and the HTC
update as well then Sense might not be so buggy.

[POLL] HTC Sense vs. Launchers

Well i think battery usage is the (almost) first problem of our problems with our phones. Changing launcher might be a little solution for it. Maybe not. I don't know. But I'm pretty sure some of users are bored from Sense UI. Well any suggestions for launchers? Please vote as their battery usage(especially) , customization, best looking etc. specialities.
And sorry for my bad english.
Regards.
im simple i like stock sense, ADW is heavily bloated with stuff(allows you to fully customize but still bloated) i like when ADW came out it was lean mean and simple now it just wild and getting ugly looking honest opinion LauncherPro is simple and light but dev stop supporting he went MIA, GO ex is like ADW
I switched to GO EX three months ago and haven't looked back. I like it better in every way. No more Sense reloading and my battery life is WAY better.

Nova Launcher is great. I'm using it right now. But Rosie is always a backup plan. It's a little slow, but it has great widgets.
Im using now nova laucher, love it! back up launcher is go launcher
I like the sense widgets but launcher pro is pretty solid in my opinion
Another vote for Nova launcher. A very clean launcher indeed!
Sense is my favourite when using Sense ROM's.
On ROM's like CM7 I like the stock Launcher (since it's quick) and LauncherPro.
ADW EX is okay too.
Never been too keen on GoLauncher though although I do like GoSMS.
I'm using apex atm but I've used launcherproplus for ages its the best one for me I left it because it hasn't been updated for ages

+1 here. HTC's has a few things I like, especially the left hand sided shortcut widget, but Go Launcher has so many more useful features I can't go back to anything else.
GO.
like the posters above, I haven't looked back.
seems to be easier on the battery, lighter on ram, way more home screen customization options, and themes up the wazoo.
replaced most of the widgets with 3rd party and they are working even better for me then stock.
tried VTL launcher for a short period of time. great launcher but just wasn't working for me.
heard great things about Nova. can't wait til ota and try that sucker out.
will be interesting to see what HTC does with Sense and ICS...
I've tried tons of launchers, and my two favorites are Go and Sean. For totally opposite reasons. Zeam is light, fast, and basic, but has awesome functionality.
Go is fast, always being updated, and had awesome customizability.

nova!!! is the way to go
Launcher pro is laggy on Sensation... It's not even close to its smoothness i have seen on Xperia Ray..
Didn't like the fact that I was limited to a 4x4 grid with the Sense launcher, so got Launcher Pro Plus. Haven't seen the need to switch back, it looks really clean. Runs really well with an overclocked kernel.
i like trebuchet its pretty simple but that may be the reason why i havent seen it lag
rosie is pretty tho, i remember the first time i saw it i was drooling but with time you get bored...still dont get how iphones are still selling
lets see how cool rosie gets once sense get facelifted again (like the time when sense 2.1 jumped to 3.0)
I'm currently using the massively bloated spb shell 3d. It looks awesome though.
