Everytime I try to us an app with a theme, like fancywidgets or beautiful widgets, the theme always resets, and i've noticed my widgets on my Golauncher app also don't refresh even though they're set to, and the same goes for my weather on Fancy, or on beautiful. I have to manually refresh them even though they are set to do to so.
I'm on the stock 2.2 that's rooted, and I've noticed that it does that "media" scanning crap and then the themes are gone and it stops refreshing.
Anyone know how to fix this issues? When I was using MIUI It never happened.

I am not sure whether this is the same issue that others are seeing with random shutdowns - these seems a little different from what I have seen posted, but hopefully someone has some suggestions on a remedy.
I am running an AT&T Captivate on stock Froyo ROM, rooted, using LauncherPro. Periodically, but seemingly most frequently after an app has been installed or updated, the Cap will become unresponsive. After a few minutes, it will come back asking me which launcher to execute (i.e., LauncherPro or TouchWiz). The phone runs media scan and other typical start-up activities. The two strange things - on Settings - About Phone - Up time does not reset, nor do I see the AT&T splash screen. Everything else acts like a reboot, including at times the Cap's ability to recognize apps installed on SD (apps show up in Settings-Applications) with long Unix names and can not launch, although you can go to Manage Apps and see them listed.
Any ideas on what is going on, and whether to blame the phone, LauncherPro, or something else? (And anyone know how to get my apps on the SD card to be recognized properly without multiple resetting the phone - merely killing LauncherPro in the task manager does not seem to work for me).
I get that occasionally too. I don't think it it's launcher pro since I am running adw ex on mine. I am also on Cognition, not stock. Other than that, it is exactly as you described.

These two issues are bugging the hell out of me.
1. I have launch Pro, ADW and of course Sense. Then i noticed the home default was reset randomly.
I then narrowed it down to the notification drop down. Everything works fine until I pull the notification down. After this if I press the Home button, I'm presented with the choice of three.
2. In Locale app, the wallpaper setting doesn't work with the HTC gallery.
At least for this I found a workaround. Installed a free 3d gallery app and set the wallpaper that way.
But the first issues is driving me bad. But I', no way using the Sense launcher.
I was just wondering if any of you guys found a workaround or no one but me cares.
Hi
I tried ADW Red theme, did not like it therefore removed it. In fact it refuses to go.
So now, I cannot change theme on my ADW EX, not even go back to the original one. I get a reddish background from the Red theme.
The most annoying is the fact that it has removed all my widgets, and is disturbing others applications.
I uninstalled it via Market, but it is still there on the screen and icons.
What can I do to rectify this? I am really peeved.
Thanks
T.

Did you go into the ADW. Settings to change your icons, etc? Next I would suggest that you should delete data and cache from the app. (but you said you uninstalled it). Last I would recommend that you do a factory reset from within your settings menu, which will wipe all of your data and settings but will also let you start over. I'm assuming that you're unrooted stock,
I am rooted, running stock with ADW launcher pro. The past two days, my widgets have stopped updating their content.
Some widgets, like google music, will still control the app, however, they will not show the correct song.
-my time does not change.
-I have gentle alarm and the widget is totally unresponsive.
-I have a flashlight widgets which will turn on the phone's flash light, but the widget will not update to show that it is on
-I have a wifi tether widget that will switch the hotspot to on, but the widget once again will not change appearance to show that it is activated.
-I have calengoo which will update after a reset but then will not change again (to the best of my knowledge i havent verified this one yet)
If i reset the phone the time will update to the time of the reset, but will not change after that. I have tried battery pulls, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling widgets. I have tried freezing touchwiz in titanium. i am out of ideas.
Any idea what is causing this partial widget impairment?
For anyone that had a simmilar problem, I solved this by manually restarting ADW from within the ADW settings. I hadn't thought to do this since I didn't see how it would be different from resetting my phone, but something must be altered when it is manually restarting, perhaps a cache?
Problem Solved
I noticed that when my phone drops down to critical i.e. 10% battery, the widgets on my home screens stop updating. Perhaps this is by design in an effort to save battery, but my problem is that even after I fully charge my phone the widgets remain frozen. I'm not running any special widgets, just a basic clock, calendar, a few toggles and battery monitor, but they all freeze just the same . . . I end up having to reboot my phone in order to get the widgets working again, which can be a pain and seems completely unnecessary.
Does anybody else have this kind of trouble? Could my completely stock/non-rooted device be experiencing issues? This is the only problem I've noticed so far with my S5 - everything else works exactly as it should.
Just a quick update: I did a factory reset and that didn't make any difference - two days later and all my home screen widgets freeze and don't start updating until I reboot the phone. List of widgets I'm using:
Fancy Widget
Switch Pro
Android Pro Widgets
BattStatt Pro
These are all widgets I've used for years without any issue, which makes me think that it involves KitKat.
Any suggestions?
I use fancy widget but haven't experienced any problems with it. Have u checked the refresh rate setting? When I put it on this phone and set it back up the refresh rate was set to refresh like every 6 hours

Thanks for the reply - no that is not it, because it affects all of my widgets and not just fancy widgets. Something odd I've noticed is that even after fancy widgets and the rest all freeze, the stock 'weather' widget still works! I've been reading a lot trying to get to the bottom of this issue, and someone on another forum mentioned the following:
"this issue occurs because kitkat has changed the way it manages background alarms. most widgets that update frequently use "alarmmanager" to trigger each update. but in kitkat, the trigger event is intentionally delayed so that android can group processes together, saving battery life and data use. so, for all those clock and weather widgets, the developers have to write a bunch of new code for kitkat devices, so that their widgets update at the intended time."
After reading this, I decided to test a theory and set my alarm to go off 2 minutes later. The alarm went off, and sure enough I checked 5 minutes later and all widgets were frozen . . . So now I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 'Timely alarm clock' app that I'm using... Going to go back to stock Alarm clock and see if that makes a difference.
Just an update for anyone interested: I found other XDA users on Verizon that were having this same issue, and someone suggested that we try installing Nova launcher. Sure enough, after installing Nova two weeks ago and I haven't had one issue with my homescreen widgets freezing.
I highly recommend Nova, especially if you're experiencing some odd quirks with TW.
