NETFLIX FIX for some unsupported Tablets, as of 12/4/2011 - Android Apps and Games

Ok after just about pulling my hair out and canceling my netflix i figured this out.
If you are having problems getting Netflix to work on your 4:3 8in or other Android tablet you might try the following. If it works please leave a reply.
I have gotten this to work on both a Herotab MID816 and a Coby Kryos MID8024.
#1 Uninstall all previous versions of Netflix ( may have to do this three times).
#2 Go to Application manager and make sure you clear all data in all google market and other type of "Market" apps you may have. Also clear any App checker, Google certificate and Installer data.
#3 download This Unckecked version com.netflix.mediacliant_1.2.2.apk
The netflix app may open in portrait mode but the movies and shows will play in landscape.
DO NOT try to update Netflix,, if you do you will have to go through it all over again.
The problem is with Google Market , it checks your version.
Hope this works for you.
Please give thanks to the following for their hard work making this work:
───────────────────────────────────
s0be
Mistar Muffin
gottahavit
skyjedi
diablo2224
dizgustipated f
flappjaxxx

netflix works
Thanks! This worked for the Coby Kyros 7022 on the first try.

Get it on Amazon App Store
I was able to get Netflix from the Amazon app store that runs flawlessly on the Coby 7022.
Just go to the Amazon . com app store and search netflix ... you'll need to register but it is free and so is the app.

You have to download the amazon appstore app to your transformer. Even though when you browse on the computer and click on purchase...it won't download until the amazon appstore is launched on the transformer.
yes, I'm running this from the amazon app store. I guess I will have to un-install and try this thing again.
thanks

works well on mine...I live in UK so have to register an amazon.com account and put some random address I got from google for 1-click registration
Always worked for me. I had 1-click activated for a while though. It's great and I downloaded a lot of great free apps already!

Your device is not compatible with the version

Running and ICS / CM9 ROM on my Kindle Fire.
"Your device is not compatible with the version" when trying to download Fandango Movies for Tablets from Google Play.
If somebody would post the APK, that would be fantastic!
If somebody would explain why I get this message for this app and other apps on Google, play I would appreciate it. Is it resolution or LCD density? It would be nice of Google to give an explanation of the "not compatible" reason
Thanks!
I don't know this particular forum's rules in regards to posting "free" apks but the reason has something to do with the build.prop file and the fact google play does not recognize the kindle fire as compatible device because "technically" you shouldn't be able to access the Google Play store. A quick google search for "fandango tablet apk" yielded many positive results and you could always side load it until someone else that knows the rules better for this particular section posts and the apk.
I'm pretty sure its OK to post free apks, and yes a search brings up many links for fandango tablet app but they are all links to the play store. I am also interested in this apk if someone can post it.
Good luck with this. I wasted my time finding the APK for HBO Go yesterday, even backtracking versions. At the end of the day, it really wasn't compatible and would not run.
Also running CM9 on the Kindle, for whatever that is worth.

good to know about HBO go, but many apps that say not compatible do work, like NFL for tablets and USA today etc. So its worth a shot.

Amazon FireTV apps - Ripped for your pleasure

I've extracted the following apps from the Amazon FireTV for anyone who wants to tinker around and try porting them to other devices.
Bloomberg TV
Crackle
Hulu Plus
iHeartRadio
Netflix
Pandora
Showtime Anytime
TuneIn Radio
Vevo
Vimeo
ESPN
All the interfaces are pretty good, so we really get these working with other Android boxes (especially Netflix).
Get the whole 140MB pack here.
Thanks for the apps! thought I would try so I could make Netflix more remote friendly. First they failed due to no amazon app store, then fails because the app store says i don't own the app and I can't download the Fire TV netflix from there. I wish I could just spoof the check or disable it.

This. I'm sure it can be done. All dl'ed Amazon Apps associate with the app store...it's just a matter of decompiling the .apks and removing or altering some lines I assume. (Which lines? IDK...here I come google.)
EDIT: Last night I tried to change a couple setting in the build.prop to spoof as a Fire TV, no joy. The Amazon App store wouldn't even open. (Unfortunately, AppStore has closed) Also, it should be noted that this is on the latest nightly CM11 build.
Fire TV was shipped with the purchasers info already entered into the box. (Purchaser info in APpStore) My concern is that there is a tertiary check...like a serial number check in the build.prop, idk... I think that simply removing the checks from the .apks will do the trick...hopefully.
Mod edit: Please do not discuss Lucky Patcher or apps that rhyme with it
Can you tell me how to modify the build.prop? I want to try modifying it to try and fake GPS and location services by doing the following:
gps.enable=true
&
hw.nolocation=false
link
Hey DaveTo - I think we're after the same thing, location services on the fire tv. I sent you a message on reddit the other day about modifying the settings.db file, but that didn't work. Here's how to edit the build.prop. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1948558 Let me know if you get it working!
This is funny. I was just replying to your reddit message on how you should try what I'm asking above. Not sure this technique will help, I think its more suited for getting past Google Store restrictions, but give it a go if you want to try. I end up spending more time trying to figure this out than actually watching hockey games. Plus, it is truly frustrating that others with FireTVs have gotten this to work and you and I can't. I would love to get to the bottom of this, but I can't even get the checkboxes to enable.
Were you planning on adding these two lines into the build prop file? They don't appears anywhere in the file so I'm asking.
gps.enable=true
&
hw.nolocation=false

HBO GO on Nexus Player (APK) & Testing.

Hi Guys,
Recently HBO GO was released for Fire TV (Source:http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=176060&p=RssLanding&cat=news&id=1999513), this version should have support for various remotes and thus if anyone could pull the APK I would very grateful along with many other HBO Watchers. You probably have to be rooted to obtain the APK so keep this in mind.
EDIT: APK has been pulled - download here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57527277&postcount=3
Thanks Guys,
Keep up the Good Stuff
CURRENT STATUS: APP Installs - Navigation works - Video fails to Load or Loads Endlessly

I managed to get a few videos started but yer now it seems they all cut off straight away - Do you reckon its to do with device activation?
- Also it is so laggy and slow is this the same on Fire TV? (Like in the UI - maybe missing some of the required libs to run properly)
EDIT: It always plays the intro "It's HBO GO" with Rating, however never successfully retrieves content I guess there is some sort of device handshake if not maybe the app checks the build of the device to see if it matchs or maybe some framework is missing; In any case now we have the app, we can experiment to find a solution.
How did you add it to your library? It won't let me
I managed to get it to work using the HBO Go 2.8.02 APK extracted from my Nexus 7. I disabled USB Debugging on my rooted NP running LP 5.1 and videos play just fine. Only during fast forwarding and rewinding do I get a little buffering, that's expected.
I'm using 2.7.06 and it works great. Just download and old version and 6iu should be good.
Can you please upload the apk??

[Q] Amazon Instant Video

In case you didn't know Amazon brought down their price for Prime today (only) to $72 for new members only. So I went and bought a subscription. I can get it to work on my Note 4, but cant seem to get it to work on my Note 12.2
Has anyone figured out how to play from Amazon Instant Videos?
or
I was wondering If anyone knew the right combo of Apps I need to download in order to get Instant Video to work?
Side Note. I know Google Removed Amazon’s Original App from Google Play for Adding their own type of Appstore inside there App.
Ist very simple: you must use the PHONE Version of Amazons store app (NOT "Amazon for Tablets"!!!) to get Instant/Prime Video to work on the tablet! You have to install it with Amazons own app store.

Ok Yeah after downloading a few wrongs ones I figured it out.
Amazon Version 5.2.2 - (Not the Tablet One, or Shopping One)
Instant Video Version 1.0 (I havent looked for an updated version yet)
Sweet I got it to work Thanks!
I must be doing something wrong... I downloaded the amazon app from the Amazon app store and it shows the green watch instantly link, but when I click it loads into the instant video and fails with "unknown_error". Any tips for what I should try differently?

Did you make sure they were the same Versions I posted in my previous Post?
Mine is playing perfectly fine. Try uninstalling and re-installing the apps.
