What do you guys think about the compatibility of a flexible bluetooth keyboard that is being sold on ebay? I'm looking for something compact that I can fit in my pocket and take to class to take notes. It says that it is compatible with Android. Anyone have any experience with it?
lol y do u need one of these things, the android keyboard is pretty good
yeah the android keyboard is pretty good. But I definitely can type faster on a full sized keyboard. And I'm sure others can also.
So the question remains. Is the G2x capable to link to a bluetooth keyboard and possibly a mouse also? Anyone tried it, yet?
This one works good with the ps3 and lots of android phones

That thing is tiny. Looks like you can only type with your thumbs or peck at it with one of your fingers.
I'm looking at something more like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wireless-Bl...Trackballs&hash=item415851859a#ht_7156wt_1037
or this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/G-Tech-Wire..._Trackballs&hash=item3f10b4bd1f#ht_961wt_1139
But they don't look like they can connect to an android though.
I used an old apple bluetooth keyboard lying around. It paired and connected as a HID (Human Interface Device). Needed no configuration, it took over the keyboard automatically. You can navigate menus with it aswell. I've never tried a mouse though.
Ive even used a full sized Logitec desktop Bluetooth keyboard (mx-5000) and it paired up just fine.

Really??? Why doesn't anyone talk about this? My case converts to a landscape kickstand so I could prop it up while typing. I wonder if I could use it in a coffee house like a laptop after all? Hmmmmmm!
The only rom I ever got to work with a bluetooth keyboard for the G2x was with CM7. Be aware that it might have to come down to flashing your phone to this Rom if you decide you do want to use a BT keyboard.
My only concern would be how difficult it would be to see the screen if you're four feet away in a comfortable typing position.
And if you're getting a full sized keyboard, lugging it around would be a pain. Easier to just use a laptop if you have one.

$40 is half what samsung's site charges.
The stylus looks interesting too.

Can you tell me the exact name for this keyboard? I searched in Amazon and it list tons of different keyboard, most are NOT for the 7+.
I did find this though:
http://www.amazon.com/eWonder-TM-Wi...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327626663&sr=1-3
My local discount/closeout store (Marc's, here in Ohio) had a bluetooth keyboard that's a little big but the price was right... I think it would be big even with a 10" but I haven't compared it to the family iPad yet. Made by Merkury Innovations (no, that's not a typo), was $30 at the store, runs on 2 AAA batteries (which is great for a distracted individual like myself who forgets to charge up non-daily-use devices if they don't have very clear low-battery warning indicators). I've had a ThinkOutside folding Bluetooth Keyboard that I've been using with my MyTouch 4G Slide (when I want to type more than I want to do on a thumbboard - I use my Android devices for taking notes in my grad classes when I don't feel like lugging along my laptop). The ThinkOutside keyboard is great for portability so long as I'm not going to be typing numbers very much (has no dedicated number keys and I find the hold down function and number key combo annoying). I'm also working on a novel and the TO is great for that but my grad classes involve a lot of numeric input so I decided I wanted something with numbers. Tested out the MI keyboard, all the main keys are properly mapped. Not entirely sure about the control/option+alt/command keys. It is about the same keyspacing as a standard keyboard but very little room around the edges. Considering picking up another for our media PC hooked to the television in the family room (cheap nettop box, wanted something a bit more advanced than a roku for the kids to play educational games on & such). We use Unified Remote on our Android devices to control that television to good effect, keyboard would be more for the kids to use and this one is good footprint and price for that use also.

Which Marc's?
bought this at my local Fry's. I know it's a little bit longer than the Tab+ but I think it's the perfect size while not making the keys too small and thin enough when i want to pack a keyboard with me. I tried a few where the keyboard was exactly the same length as the tablet and the keys were so small and cramped that it wasn't worth it with all the errors introduced during my typing test.
Manufactured by Azio and can pair and switch between 6 different BT devices via hotkey.
The only thing i was hoping to see by now is a keyboard that has android shortcut keys for the home, back, search, and recent. Has anyone seen a hardware keyboard that does that?

dealextreme case
I purchased that keyboard case from dealextreme. It took a wile to get here but was in good condition. The unit worked fine connected well and works as advertised. I do have several problems with it. The tab does not fit tightly in the holder. The case adds significantly to the size of the tab. There is nothing to hold the case closed. The final downfall is I think I can type faster on the onscreen keyboards.

Logitech Tablet Keyboard
I just picked up a Logitech Tablet Keyboard (NOT the Logitech iPad keyboard - they are different models). Build quality is awesome - this is a solid yet still lightweight device. It had no problem pairing up with the GT+ and did not drop any keystrokes when I used it to type.
Added bonus - the Logitech keyboard fits perfectly in a Vera Bradley "Cheers to You" wine bottle tote. For the stylish girl geeks.
I have the Official Keyboard Dock from Samsung and I really enjoy it.
I finally decided and picked up the Logitech bluetooth keyboard for Android. Pretty nifty; seems like a sold keyboard, synched right away to my 7+, like the fact that the keyboard has its own case that converts into a stable angled perch for the 7+ and that you can use it with the table either in landscape or portrait. Though I do wish it had multiple tilt lockings so I can choose what angle my 7+is perched at. So far, very pleased with the purchase.

I have the Motorola Keyboard and use it between the desktop and Xoom all the time. Really convenient with the volume buttons and such (as they both work for windows and the Xoom).
hipstreet keyboard/case combo is pretty nice. feels secure and the screen props at a nice angle. pretty much makes it feel like a touchscreen laptop

Bought the Moto keyboard for $40 a couple of weeks ago and they threw in a mouse. Can't beat the deal and it's a very solid keyboard. Bit plasticky in build in comparison to some others I've used (and the Xoom itself) but it seems like it should hold up to daily abuse just fine.
Acer has a nice compact Android specific keyboard as well. I have both the Acer and the Motorola and like the Acer for it's size, build and typing feel better than the Moto.
Motorola keyboard is good.
Thanks all. I've ordered the moto one. It should arrive tomorrow. It'll sure beat typing on screen.
My Motorola keyboard arrived the other day. It's well-built although the layout of some of the keys takes a little getting used to. Quite why the forward apostrophe ' and the backwards one ` are where they are I don't know, as they're the wrong way round.
And it`s (see) a British layout, with the pound sterling symbol above the 3, but ICS is refusing to play ball and pressing that gives me #. Pressing quote gives me @ and pressing rats-tail at gives me "
I know there is a separate thread about this; I assume it`s (there it is again, wrong!) because I have the US ICS ROM.
It's also a bigger keyboard than I had expected, but it is at least easy to type on.
But right now I just kind of wish I had got a standard Windows keyboard, at least I know instinctively where the keys are on that.
The media and Android keys are useful, but on the wifi XOOM, ones like MMS/text are useless - the ability to redefine their action would be useful.
And anyone know what the three horizontal lines key, next to END, is supposed to do?
Anyone using a BT keyboard with the Infinity.
How is support, how well is it working. Does it work at all?
I do not really need the dock but writing long texts really needs a keyboard.
So I thought a cheaper BT keyboard may be an option.
The problem with BT keyboards is that you never have them when you need them. Since it's just something else to carry around, it's just not practical enough for a mobile device, in my opinion. Thats where the keyboard dock really shines - it's always there when you need it and serves many other purposes besides the keyboard itself. Trust me - you won't regret the purchase - it's worth the extra $$! It's a one-time cost over a few years that you'll own the device - no batteries to worry about, etc.
That being said, I'm sure any old bluetooth keyboard will work. I personally use a BT mouse when I'm at home or at the office (have one that I leave at each location) since the trackpad is a real PIA when you need to type (I find that I have to constantly enable/disable it, so I tend not to use it that much)....

That was not the question.
But to prevent further posts like this:
I plan to use the keyboard at home only.
I do not need a keyboard when I'm not at home.
Again, as I did state above - yes, any old bluetooth keyboard should work fine - I've even connected the Apple bluetooth keyboard to my Transformer devices... Was just trying to give some friendly advice based on experience with BT keyboards - the dock is just so much more useful...

I was using my apple keyboard with my TF700 until I got the dock. It seemed to work pretty well.
Find a keyboard that is comfortable for you. Don't look at prices until after.
I find the apple keyboard comfortable but as a keyboard it's pretty expensive. I only had it as a spare because my Mac broke and only have Windows/Linux machines now.
I am using the Logitech Android Tablet bluetooth keyboard (and tablet mouse) with my TF700.
I must say, it is absolutely awesome. I was going to buy a dock, but I am kinda glad I didn't. But opinions on dock vs. BT keyboard aside, it functions very well.
I am running CM10 on here, and I am not having any compatibility issues. The only current issue, is that the keylayout settings that appears in the notifications force-closes when launched.
Any questions, feel free to ask me.
Also, this post was typed with said keyboard

I have the Freedom Pro Portable Keyboard. It works well. And with the HID setting on the keyboard, just sync and go. It got setting for SPP blue tooth for Android versions under 3.1, which requires a separate app to use the keyboard.
I already my keyboard for the reason you stated, but for at work. You may want to get or build some kind of stand so you can use the keyboard and prop the Infinity.
i'm actually going to purchase the Zagg ZAGGkeys FLEX bluetooth keyboard to use with my Infinity as well as my phone (GSII, soon to be Gnote2). I have the dock for my tf101, and to be honest, it gets no play with me. the problem is that i have to carry it around and also take off my gumdrop case to use it...for me the hassle outweighs the funtionality and batter life (which i find excellent on asus tabs). so a BT keyboard works well for me and after researching I have found that the ZaggKeys and the Logitech are the top two to choose from. I'm going with the ZaggKeys due to the batter life being better and it having USB charging. I also like how it is designed and the iOS functionality (although i read that the logitech works well with iOS as well, even if it says it is for android).
here is an amazon.com link for it: http://amzn.com/B00695OFE2
I own the basic model Logitech BT keyboard, and I must say that it serves me well for when I need to type notes or be at the keys. I spent roughly 60 dollars for it. I also purchased the ASUS usb dongle for about 10 dollars from amazon (shipping included) and I must say that combined with the BT keyboard..I do not need anything else. I had a dock with the 101 but honestly it added unneeded weight to my bag (whole reason for buying the expensive tablet was to cut down on bag weight) the battery difference was negligible and it had more features then I needed.
Ultimately it all comes down to personal preference and need for the features offered in the dock, but I have found that for 70 dollars I can have all the functionality that the dock offers except for the battery, and at half the price, as well as weight.
The USB dongles are a tad difficult to get your hands on because they are not sold in stores and always sold out online, but if you can get one they are a great little thing to have and weigh less then nothing honestly.
I'm looking for advice on purchasing a new tablet for an after Xmas present.
I've pretty much narrowed it down to a Google Nexus 10 or the Asus TF700T-C1-CG with WiFi 10.1.
The reason I chose the Asus is that I like the ability to dock it to a keyboard then my laptop is out the door! That said, if I do want to go that route I just read where Lenovo is launching a new tablet combo next January that is incredible.
I would really appreciate user's thoughts!

If u plan on rooting and flashing ROMs, get the Asus since it will have the keyboard. If u keeping stock, get the nexus for fast updates
^ Agree.
Also, when it comes to being a laptop replacement, just be aware of the limitations.
I can still use Flash on Jelly Bean, but it might not stay that way forever - well, almost certainly won't. And it's almost certainly going to take web developers longer than that to ditch it for compatibility's sake.
I'm going to be giving some of the Office software a shot, but for some people MSOffice is the only thing that will work for their jobs, or they need something very specific. This also goes for other programs that might not have direct, or good, translations to Android.
I find that I can use my TF101 basically any time I'd be using my laptop - although this is only because I built a desktop that I use for my heavier computing needs.

You can get a bluetooth keyboard for pretty much any tablet or even phone.
The TF keyboard dock isn't just a bluetooth keyboard, though. It's an effective counter-balance what with the large battery in it - a battery that charges the tablet and effectively doubles battery life. In a bluetooth keyboard, you'd either have to have dead weight in the case or a kick-stand, and you'd be charging it / replacing batteries separately - a nice feature of the connected dock is that you'll know the battery level so it won't be a surprise to have it suddenly die (and it will still work as long as the tablet has power). The keyboard dock also benefits from having a hardware connection over bluetooth - and it has two stabiliser connections that don't send data, so that it can't wiggle around, as well as being held against the front and back by the part that serves as the immediate dock. It's very stable, just like a laptop or netbook.
The keyboard dock also has two full-size USB ports and a full-size SD Card slot and a track-pad.
Not trying to be a salesman, just point out the differences between what you get with a bluetooth keyboard versus the TF keyboard dock.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with for the Nexus 10, but it will certainly be more like the Surface than the TF series. The TF series is good for people who want something that can function as both a netbook and a tablet. The Surface is a step above regular bluetooth keyboards, but still isn't the same level of purpose and functionality as the TF dock - but it really depends on what you want.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of the advice. Unfortunately I missed a few updates from the thread as I've already purchased a Nexus 10. It arrives today.
For those who recommended the Surface, while it's a nice 'hybrid', the price is not justified IMO. I'll see what happens with the Nexus.

Not sure if size means anything to you. I picked up the Motorola keyboard that has the slide-out trackpad : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006291K7A/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's slightly thicker and bigger than i'd like - especially for pairing w/ an 8" tablet. I do think in regards to functionality the android-specific keys and slide-out trackpad are awesome. the touchpad clicks so certain functions (like dragging) require you to push down and drag - took me a while to figure out at first. When you first use it, the cursor travels a very short distance per your finger movement compared to most laptops, but I set the mouse speed to the highest in the settings for the Note 8 and for me that is the more natural feeling when using the touchpad.
it doesn't come with a stand for the tablet or case/cover for the keyboard - but the case I bought for the tablet already can stand it up.
Look up the reviews for it on Amazon and the majority are really positive.

I second what has been said about the Logitech K810. Very nice bluetooth keyboard, with backlighting, and great battery life. It also handles different devices without issue. I have it paired with my Samsung Note 8, iPad v4, and Samsung Galaxy Note II. It saves 3 device profiles so you can quickly switch between them if needs be. The keys have decent travel as well.
Plus it just seems better made than most portable bluetooth keyboards with the darker brushed aluminum look.

Battery life seems to be excellent until now and the weight and size compliment the Note 8 very well in my opinion.
Watch out though! I'm only talking about the "slim keyboard" selection at Amazon for 26$, not the black or white versions. Those are completely different products "featuring" quite a large hump on their back...

Product description makes me wonder how are you gonna carry it -> "Dimensions:*238 x 130 x 4 inches"
Seriously though, it does look nice. Do you know if the battery is replaceable ?

Was pretty surprised when it arrived, it's a pretty big package.
Seriously, the keyboard is very slim, leightweight and well built.
It has only two very tiny tiny screws, thats all there is in regard to opening the device.
The built in LiPo battery is certainly not ment to be user replaceable, but it could probably be done I reckon.
It will however be a proper HW hack, voiding warranty etc...

Yet another fan of the logitech K810. I use it for my Tab 10.1, Tab 2 7 and now my Note 8. Great keyboard and capable of retaining the conductivity settings for 3 separate devices.

I'm using this one-

I use the stardard Apple wireless bt keyboard (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC184T/B/apple-wireless-keyboard?fnode=0001030825).
It is expensive and... Apple, but it works great and it's very light to carry (in case you need an external keyboard).
I like the Logitech K810, it's compact and useful for me (programmer). It's also a 3-way toggle that you hit a key and can change between pairings, so I'm able to switch between my tablet and my workstation.
Note: Samsung stock ROMs and keyboard suck at keyboard handling vs AOSP.
I am using the logitech bluetooth easy switch keyboard. It works really well with note 8.0 I am currently using it for my Windows Laptop/ Note 2 Hand phone / Note 8.0 tablet

The keyboard I ordered came Monday, and I would highly recommend it.
Logitech Bluetooth Illuminated Keyboard K810. Very good build quality, and lovely to type on when you have lots to type. Very easy to use. Light, easy to carry around. Backlighting option is awesome, and having the toggling devices makes it a versatile thing indeed. Most I ever paid for a keyboard honestly, but I expect to get use out of it for years yet. Amazon had a good price.

Haven't used it a lot yet but so far so good. What they kinda fail to mention on the site is that it is pretty damn heavy though, not really cheap either. Is really solid and feels nice though and the stand works great.
