[Q] It is possible to make phone calls? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

I want to know if it is possible to make phone calls just like original Galaxy Tab.
It is essential for me.

Only if you order the unlocked international version.

I couldn't figure out how to make it work, thanks.

I wish it did out of the box, but sadly no? My plan is once I get my $250 in rebates, I'm gonna make my own number I've had for almost ten years into a data number for the tab, that way people can still text me. Then sign up for a google voice number and use groove ip for a number to call out or for people to call me. I literally only talk on the phone for 30 minutes a month if that.
It sucks having those two numbers but I really don't wanna carry around a smartphone anymore, just this.
So I'm also curious as to why u couldn't set up grove ip and google voice as its gonna b essential to my plan.

I use mine as my primary phone. There are 3 main type of gtab plus :
P6200 is the international version, unbranded and a fully featured unlocked phone. Even better than the original tab because the P6200 has an earpiece. This model is not officially sold in the US by any mayor retailers or phone companies. It can only be bought in Malaysia, and Indonesia and Australia. Or on Ebay. I bought it mine, like others on this forum through ipmart (Google it).
The second version is the one sold by t-mobile. Like the original tab, and has the phone part disabled, and so far there is no way of enable it like the classic tab. You can only use the radio for data.
Last one is the wifi only model. P6210.
Hope is a little clearer now.

switching... port to verizon or G.voice.

I'm trying to decide if I should port my AT&T number to my new verizon acct or port it to G.voice and get a new phone number for my Verizon phone.
Anyone think one or the other might be better?
Really want a dual core android phone, but don't want to miss out on unlimited data 4G plan.
I've been using my Google Voice number as my primary number for at least a year now. Unless MMS is really important to you, I'd use Google Voice.
Exactly what he said. You also miss out on free mobile to mobile though which is a bummer.

That could be pretty big for some people but the only time I'm on the phone for a really long time, I'm at home and I'm talking to a girl. All I have to do is open up Gmail and make the call through Google Talk.

Leaving the country for a bit on a cruise. Need some help.

OK so I leave to Puerto Rico on Saturday. Then two days later on a cruise out of San juan. Anyway I called verizon today to let them know so they can enable my global capabilities. The fees per minute and megabyte are ridiculous obviously. The Verizon rep I spoke to said I won't be charged if I keep my phone on wifi. I plan to keep it on airplane mode till I enable wifi. I'm leaving my daughter behind and I want to be able to call and check up on her without a ridiculous bill. Is anyone aware of any wifi calling apps that will allow free international calls. I have google voice but I'm not sure if that will work. Any help is appreciated.

You can get wifi calling through signing up for gvoice and using sipdroid, but the wifi on the ships is expensive. From what I remember you can use your phone in Puerto Rico, but it's pricey and theres not much free wifi.
Good luck finding cheap service and have fun.

Thanks I think the verizon rep made an assumption that wifi on the ship would be free. I figured it will would be as well. This sucks my bill will be ridiculous.

Cruise ship wifi is not free from the ones I've been on. But if you really need to call home use a VoIP clients and a VoIP provider. I use Bria and configured it to Flowroute (https://support.flowroute.com/entries/20325927-how-to-configuring-bria-softphone-on-the-iphone).
Another option (this one is free) use gtalk over wifi and then initiate a voicecall.
Good luck and enjoy your cruise!

[Q] Going out of the USA, need advice/tips for using voice and text over WiFi

Sorry my title isn't very clear but I don't know how to phrase it any better. I'll try to explain my situation as simple as possible:
I'm currently in the USA on Verizon using a Galaxy Nexus. I'm going to be starting medical school in January in the Caribbean. Right now my phone is under contract on my family's plan until 2014 and I am using grandfathered unlimited data. The data plan is limited to my phone number and I signed a contract to pay for it for a year last month, so it'll expire in September 2013.
What I want to do is carry my phone down there and use voice and text over WiFi. Can anyone with any experience suggest the best way to do this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
The best option is Google Voice and GrooveIP (I think the latter costs money, but the two paired together should be the dynamic duo)

Thanks! I'll look into that. Anyone else have suggestions?
Also, specifically, does anyone have experience using Skype out of their home country? I've never used it once so any experiences anyone could share are all appreciated.

No problem. Just realized they have a GrooveIP lite which has all the features of the full GrooveIP but supports ads and is missing a few, rather unimportant features. But Ill let you decide if they are important or not

[Q] Can I sell a subsidized phone, without fees from carrier?

Just wanting to know if anyone has sold a new phone you got a subsidized price on. I currently have a S4 and want to sell it, will ATT give me a problem when I add another device to my account that is not a S4? Thanks!
This forum has some questions and answers related to your question: slickdeals.net/f/3732040-verizon-phone-upgrade-can-i-sell-the-subsidized-phone-for-a-profit
Still not clear, but thank you. I will be making a profit from the sale of the phone. I'm worried that when I purchase a new phone, and activate it with ATT I will be flagged since its not the phone I originally purchased. Anyone with anymore insight care to chime in?
I dont think it should be a problem just tell them you bought another phone to use whe you go abroad. As long as you still pay your bill should be fine

N5 SIM for Sprint

Anyone happen to know what SIM is needed to get this working on Sprint? Sprint rep didn't have any when I visited the stores but they assured me the SIM was different from the S4 SIM. Was going to try going to a local Best Buy to see if they might have them.

I've read of people using S4 SIM successfully. I ordered my SIM from international Sprint chat. It was free.
Microsim

I used my s4 Sim . I had to use the chat feature to activate .

I also used SIM from my S4. What is strange is some ROMs I have LTE, while others I do not. Doesnt make much sense, but when has anything Sprint related made sense!
Thanks for all the info. I have a sero account so chat said I had to call in. Calling in led them to say that I need to go to store to pick one up. Store claims s4 SIM won't work and they don't have any n5 Sims yet, but then again they said sprint wouldn't activate the phones from Google either. Guess I'll head to best buy.

A lot of the stores won't have the Sim, for some stupid reason. If you can, talk them into giving you any micro Sim they have. The best buy ones are only $7 and they work like a charm!

I'm relatively new to the SIM game but my understanding is that there is no difference between the SIM they will send you and the SIM from an S4. I activated my N5 using my S4 SIM and I get LTE just fine. The only problem I have is that when I'm on WIFI at the house, my N5 usually won't make or receive calls via the cellular network. I've seen others talking about the same issue in Google Groups.

S4 Sim works in mine and I get LTE just like my s4 did . the troubles I've read about seem to be in certain areas . I don't think all states/areas are having LTE issues . check out http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/5001-tri-band-lteecsfb-issues-thread/
