[Q] EVO 4g CM7 GPS issues (tried all the fixes i can find) - General Questions and Answers

Ok, first off, I have tried every fix posted by galandy.
I started with cm7, I couldnt get the gps to work. I reinstalled navigation, it worked for 10 minutes then went back to searching for gps. I tried gps status, no sats. I tried the sense mod with both sinister and evo stock rom for root with the ##gpsclrx# option, put in my password, it rebooted, went back to gps status, both times no avail. I went back to cm7, still no avail. I tried the vision 1.1 flash both from rom manager and from standard recovery, no avail. I tried the 1.0 and got the same null results. I then tried the rest of the options, kingdom, and gb stock in as many ways as i could think of or find on any forum i could get my hands on. I have been clearing cache and dalvik cache every time and i have tried cm7 nightlies with all of these options as well as swagged out, and salvage-mod. I even tried tiamat kernel on cm7. Please someone help, im at my wits end, I cant think of anything else to try. I know this question has been asked a thousand times, but i cant find anyone who cant get it fixed except myself.

me too
just installed cm7 on evo about 2 days ago, and GPS is still not working

this worked for me:

good luck!

I have tried all of them. No good. Still no GPS. Tried nightlies, sense drivers, sense rom flash gpsclrx, galandy's drivers etc.. can't even get GPS while using the sense roms anymore.

[Q] CM7 Bootloops

I've noticed other people seem to be having this same problem and there hasn't really been a distinct solution that I can see, so hopefully this question will be helpful in the future and not repeatative.
I've been trying to update to CM7 from CM 6.1.2 on my Evo. I followed instructions from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902051 and downloaded all the recommended software. First I tried to just flash the rom, then the kernal, then the gapps. All seemed well at first, and I got past the Evo 4G screen, but it got stuck booting on the Cyanogen animation (the arrow just keeps going!)
Then I tried to wipe the Davlik-Cache, and rebooted again. I left the phone alone for about 45 minutes, and it still got stuck on the Cyanogen animation.
Finaly, after searching through the forums, I found another post which suggested I do a hard reset then flash the rom, kernal and gaaps then clear the cache and davlik-cache. Still, I'm stuck on the animation. I have a nandroid backup, so I can get back to 6.1.2, but I'd really like to get CM7 working, anything else I should try?
You should't have to do the kernel separately unless you have a specific reason for doing so the ROM comes with a kernel for you. I had a similar problem with my HTC however I was able to get it resolved by installing gapps. Here's what I did -->
Used ROM Manager to go back to working ROM
From working ROM, accessd ROM Manager and chose rebooted into recovery mode
Once in recovery cleared/wiped everything (cache, data, delvik) installed gapps then cm7
Restarted
It did take awhile after restart to get going however once it did it worked marvelously!
Hope this helps and good luck!
Reboot
Similar Problem, Defy CM7 Bootloop
The first time i tried installing CM7 I got a boot-loop. I have tried at least 7 different tutorials all with different variations of flashing this and wiping that yet none yield results. Still stuck at boot-loop.
The most recent thing i have done was used RSD Lite to flash
"JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_179-002_DEBLUR_SIGN_SIGNED_UCAJRDNEMARAB1B80AA03A.0R_PDS03C_USAJRDNFRYORTCEE_P016_A016_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf"
this got my phone running again, i then pulled off some magic by rooting using a combination of super1click, Z4 and installing superuser myself. after that i copied the files for a bootmenu into my /data/ folder. using CWM Recovery v2.5.1 flashed
"freq_F_US_342_107-850-1700-2100-signed.zip"
to get my 3G running again, and gave up of CM7.
If anyone has anything that could help id appreciate it.
(ps. i've tried many variations of wiping things and re-flashing things)

[Q] I regret flashing CM7

I wish I had known before flashing CM7 that many have had problems with the gps. I certainly do. I tried using my nandroid backup to go back to the Froyo ROM I had flashed from AddictiveTips, but backup and restore on ClockworkMod just leaves me with a blank screen. I've seen some tips on fixing gps, but most involving going back to a sense ROM and starting over. I'm not a computer whiz and some suggestions are hard to follow. I tried one involving Fast Reboot and Faster Fix, but it didn't work. Since ClockworkMod's restore won't work, I have to either wait for the CM7 gps problem to be fixed later or try re-installing the Froyo ROM from the SD card (which may or may not work). The gps with Froyo worked great. Any suggestions?
Nandroid backup didn't work?
And what problems are you having with gapps?
Me myself have problems in CM7 as well -> the gapps cannot be installed (well, CWM didn't mention any error when installing) but after boot up no gapps is there, after tons of research here and no solution too, and I rolled back to froyo.

CM7 working fine on my HD2. I'm running it from my SD though because I don't want to root.
From what I understand the GPS will not be fixed by a cm update its got something to do with the hardware you have to do http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11853529&postcount=2085 this to fix it. After I did the gpsclr fix mine has worked flawlessly. Also I don't think its only cm roms that have this issue.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
ah i mistook gps for gapps. my mistake... lol
Odd... CM7 works perfectly on my Motorola Droid and Nook Color and I've also never had a GPS problem (even on older nightlies). What make and model is your phone? And are you running off a CM7 nightly (if so what build?) or an RC (the latest is RC4 as far as I know)?
Gps worked perfectly using Froyo (rooted, ROM from AddictiveTips). I have an HTC Desire (CDMA) from US Celular. No, I'm not running off nightlies. I installed CM7 RC4.
The fix suggested above sounds like I would have to first flash a sense ROM and then come back to CM7. Other than giving me extra space for apps, it isn't worth it. I could get by with Froyo since everything worked with it. With CM7, the gps doesn't work at all. Maps keeps searching for satellites and never finds them. I really miss not having voice directions.

all you need to do>
get a fresh rom myns or any that you like in reality it doesnt have to be sense if you just want to get away from cm7 altogether
but then boot into cm7,
plug it into your computer
load the new rom onto your phone
boot into recovery
then install the new rom.
sound good?
I appreciate the suggestions, but I decided to go back to Froyo and my gps is working again! Unfortunately, Clockworkmod won't let me re-install any backups, and I have no idea why. All I get is a blank screen. Fortunately, I can install from the SD card, which I did to get Froyo back. Since nandroid backups don't seem to work, I have to setup my phone from scratch everytime I make a ROM change.

[Q] Help with CM7 GPS issue

I just went from RC3 to 7.0 hoping that this would clear up my GPS issue, but its still not working. I'm not getting any satellites in the gps status app. Everything worked okay with the stock ROM and I think it was working on RC1, but for all the other release candidates after that I haven't been able to get a gps lock.
The first time I flashed 7.0 I didn't wipe data/cache, but after the GPS still didn't work I tried wiping and installing 7.0 and the gps still is not working.
I've tried everything I've been able to find in other threads, but so far nothing I've tried has worked. Can anyone think of anything that I can try? Thanks.

htc wildifre with cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1-buzz - wifi non functional

hi there! i am new to this forum as registered member, but i've been often here in the previous months.
now i have a problem.
i have made an s-off and installed cyanogenmod a couple of months ago. the version was definetly 7 but i can't remember which one. back then i had problems with wifi and gps, none worked, but i googled it, and found that flashing the radio via clockworkmod helps. i used one of those standard versions of radio found on cynogenmod webpage. the versions 3.35.15.31, 3.35.19.25 and 3.35.20.10
and that solution not only made wifi and gps work again, but it made gps work better, it took total of 2 minutes to find satellites and get a good fix.
but two days ago i updated my cyanogenmod to 7.1.0.1-buzz and the problem appeared again. so, ok, i'll flash the radio again.
the first problem was the clockworkmot, since i upgraded it to ver 3, but i managed to downgrade it via rom manager and install the radio drivers (not sure if "driver" is a good term for it). but it helped only partially.
so i tried all three possible radio drivers, but all i managed is to make the gps work. it works fine, but when i try to connect to a network it gets stuck at "obtaining ip address", then it says "disabled" and tries to connect once again. and that goes in circle constantly!
i tried to google it, and search in this forum and several others, but i cant find the solution. always before i install the radio drivers i wipe the dalvik cache, but that doesn't help either. i tried it via rom manager, by rebooting into clockworkmod, i even tried to reset the phone, then wiping dalvik and then flashing radio, but that doesn't help either... does anybody have any idea how to fix my broken wifi? any help would be appreciated! thanks in advance!
p.s. should you need any info regarding my phone, just ask!
still nothing? guys... please... help!

[Q] No Sound from Desire HD ROM?

I just recently flashed the Virtuous Quattro ROM onto my phone, because I saw lots of stability from it and many things I liked. However, it was required that one had to use the inspiremod to use the ROM. After hours of working out why it would not flash (had to do with the cache not being wiped), I finally got it successfully installed. However, I had absolutely no audio whatsoever. I thought it might be because of the inspiremod not being installed, but this turned out to not be the issue. Kind of sitting in the dark as to what the issue is now, and I have absolutely no clue what the problem might be. Searched for a while with no record whatsoever.
I tried installing a different kernel as well, and every time I would install the kernel, I would get stuck on the HTC Bootscreen with it, and it would not go past. I tried the TalonACE, LordMod, and Stock HTC kernels with no answers.
*EDIT* I also tried looking around for the PD98IMG.zip file which people said had the stock kernel on it as well as the stock radio I believe, but I could not find a actual one of it. I looked in one of the threads and it took me to one of those sites that looks poorly built and all with a search engine and everything.
