[PreAlpha-WIP][AOSP][ICS]Android 4.0.1 AOSP BUILD - Folio 100 Android Development

I'M NOT RESPONDING FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT MIGHT BE FOLLOWED BY INSTALLING THIS ROM AND IT ISN'T RECOMMENDED FOR NORMAL USERS, ONLY FOR ADVANCED USERS AND DEVS
Alpha SHOULD be released this week and if not that's mean I have some life problems or I'm busy as well as some problems with school.
I somehow manged to get Google's AOPS(can't wait end of year for Nvidia to release its ICS source) ICS booting on our Folio 100!!!
SPECIAL THANKS GO TO:
-shaky153
-Kervala
-nopy
-mblaster
-DerArtem
-other that I forgot
It isn't that much usable but it's ICS

ICS AOSP Port for Folio 100 - ICS Mobile UI Test
This video shows how ICS Mobile UI looks like but it isn't near this one and some heavily framework modification have to be done if you want this UI on this ICS port

ICS AOSP Port for Folio 100 - ICS Tablet UI Test
These two videos show ICS Tablet UI, one in 160dpi and another in 120dpi and it's similar to HC UI. It isn't that far from this one but it'll need some framework changes if user want UI like this
Installing via fastboot:
1. Download ICS build below
2. Unpack it in some empty directory(or make one) and set up fastboot if you didn't
3. Open terminal and type:
Code:
fastboot flashall -w reboot
4. Wait for booting to finish and ROCK OUT!!!
Builds:
PreAlpha v0.1 ===> ICS_AOSP.tar.gz
Log ===> logcat_ICS.txt
Changelog:
Code:
[SIZE="4"]PreAlpha v0.1[/SIZE]:

-Mouse
-Gettin' from hibernation(!!!)
-Graphics(laggy)
-Livewallpapers
-Brightness

-Statusbar buttons
-Hdmi
-Internal and external memory mounting [/QUOTE]
-Gapps except Google Talk
What doesn't work:
-Wifi

-Camera
-HW acceleration
-A lot more...
Don't forget to press thanks button if you like my work!!!
Some users want to donate when alpha is released and because that I'll make donate account in January 2012.
Donate in euro please. Money won't be used for buying a beer like many other users do nor it will be used for buying new device or saving for further schooling depending on sum that I get on this as well as other projects that I'm planning to start.
NOTE: I'm not forcing anyone to donate. Just pressing thanks button will say that you're supporting me and like my work but donating will motivate me too
NOTE: Alpha will be released when I get this working:
-Wifi
-Bluetooth
-Rotation
-Audio
-HW acceleration

EDIT: I'll upload build when I do some edits in ramdisk and probably when(if) nopy compile kernel for me because I have some problems with that or wifi/bluetooth get working
EDIT2: I edited ramdisk and added some files for wifi(maybe bluetooth too) and it seems to load up but I somehow messed up something and mouse isn't working now...
EDIT3: Mouse fixed
EDIT4: Nothing for wifi and I didn't try to set bluetooth yet
EDIT5: Change some wifi related files and now I get this (it should be something with hardware_legacy)
EDIT6: Tried on CM way but stuck on driver loading
EDIT7: Nopy sent me kernel and with some small ramdisk modifications TOUCHSCREEN WORKS!!!
EDIT8: Bluetooth log:
E/bluedroid( 161): open(/sys/class/rfkill/rfkill0/state) for write failed: Permission denied (13)
E/BluetoothAdapterStateMachine( 161): failed to prepare bluetooth, abort turning on
D/BluetoothAdapterStateMachine( 161): Bluetooth state 11 -> 10
I/ActivityManager( 161): Start proc com.android.bluetooth for broadcast com.android.bluetooth/.pbap.BluetoothPbapReceiver: pid=1473 uid=10002 gids={3003, 3002, 3001, 1015}

I/ActivityThread( 1473): Pub com.android.bluetooth.opp: com.android.bluetooth.opp.BluetoothOppProvider

Problem is permission
EDIT9: Found staorage(internal and external) fix!!!
EDIT10: I compiled audio binary from here(post 229) but I can't play any song because music players can't load any audio file(even not from system directory) and setting won't output any audio after setting up notification sound
EDIT11: I successfully mounted sdcard via vold
EDIT12: I'm planing to make a video of my build and find out why wifi isn't working...oh and one incredibly thing:
It last 2 days in hibernation with only 20% of battery!!!
EDIT13: I tried many su binaries but all of them output that permissions are granded but app said that it didn't get them and in log it said that app is denied
EDIT14: I think that wifi module path have to be added in libhardware_legacy to get wifi working
EDIT15: Downloaded 4.0.3 source and for now I'm dealing with some device tree bugs-it'll be released when I finish it and do some more clean up

Thank you sir.
Good Job.

This is mighty impressive! Since I'm just a normal user I'll refrain from trying it, but good work and I'll be looking forward to the results )
Thanks for keeping the Folio scene active!

No, the kernel don't fix audio, it's frameworks patch that fix it.

Ive been watching the progress..
your the greatest!!!!!! Keeping our Folio alive
Just one thing i would like to ask.
If possible try and make full support for flash player with this rom
For me that would be the cherry on top kind stuff )
Have tried several including cm7 and Folio3xx v0.4 and none gives me full Flash player support and i need to watch live streaming such as twitchtv or justintv live streams.
The one and only i still use is FolioMod 1.4 and the only that has full flash
support
Thanks for the great job your doing

The current version of Adobe Flash Player does not support ICS.
Adobe has announced that they will release an update for Flash Player that will support ICS by the end of the year. So not even those with an Galaxy Nexus can use Flash Player...

Yeah but it will be out so when it is, lets hope its just install or maybe the Dev can adapt it to folio..

A little video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GdKDrZJE2g

Wow!! Good to see ICS on folio. Will be great if this gets going!!

Nice. Your CM port is smother than mine AOSP. Good job!

Excellent man, good to see that someone brings to life the Folio

Uploading build but it isn't as smooth as nopy's one because:
Firstly, he's more experienced user as well as dev and I'm only very young and want to learn as well as android fanatic
Secondly, ICS AOSP source code isn't full yet and some thing are missing but CM is fixing that errors and build should be more completely than AOSP one. I found rotation and camera solution(saw from nopy's git) but I don't know how to add some lines(I added but wrong and I get errors that like wrong end that's easy to fix with some ordinary C knowledge that I don't have)

Great news
Super! Thanks mate!

Sorry, I have some internet problems and I have to use Mobil network for now but I don't have time to fix error. It should be uploaded during weekend.

Fixed and now I'm uploading
but
can someone help me with this:
I did something wrong with my build and now it won't boot. It will probably fix audio and wifi...
Can someone tell me how to mount system.img in rw mode?

Uploaded and link is in OP!!!

Will 3g come on this rom? Will there come a more stable rom?

Additional Kernel
Default kernel in my rom
AOKP kernel with Governors and Schedulars : Download
Tips :
* For kernel :
* Under Performance :
Keep the Overclocking as 245-1100 smartassv2/ondemand for no slowdowns
Also prefer sio schedular using set-cpu with the additional kernel
Also select forced disable scrolling cache
* If something FCs then go to apps...clear data...restart...
* Finally for awesome look...use this theme...

But after flashing both the zip...SystemUI has stopped error will occur...replace the systemui.apk from the rom in /system/app/ and reboot...all should be fine and your phone should fly

* Prox for helping me with whatever little I know about porting (I mean Proxuser)
* All Devs who helped in some way or the other for ICS development
* Finally Xda and Desire S community for everything
Finally if you like the rom...take a bit of time to thank Lord Clockan and even go ahead and Donate...
For me just a thanks would be more than enough...

what a pitty i'm testing my batt life right now, so i cannot try immediately. but i'll check it out in the next days for sure.
prepare yourself for tons of requests, and alot "camera?camera?camera?"
well done! (hope so)
Good job on the port, will definitely try it out later ... currently trying to port Sense 3.6
Great work, runs fluid and no other issues than the known found yet.
The additional settings are also pretty nice
Ok, faced something a bit weird now.
Got a sudden reboot and now the screen buttons appeared. Tried to reboot once more but nothing changed. Will try to wipe cache and report afterwards.
Here is a Screenshot.

One problem, I think it's missing the calendar.
Here's a rip from the CM9 build, which solved the problem for me. Just paste into /system/app and restart
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19736187/Calendar.apk
Calendar is present for me.
Cache wipe did nothing and even a reflash (without full wipe) didn't make the screen buttons disappear.
Solved it with a clean install, will provide last_kmsg if it's happening again.
Sry, forgot about it this time ^^

Why should I use this and not cm9 ? It can be faster but does it have the amount of settings?

Yes, and some additional, but look yourself, no one forces you to use anything and there is something weird, called backup, if you don't like it.
Swifted from my Desire S far away from my PC
Thanks for the tip, but i already knew that i can do backups.. But that always costs time because i want to test roms for a longer time to rate it, so i wanted some arguments to test it.

Real nice rom, nice and quick aswell, and no bugs found yet other than the ones stated!!!
Once though, went into the settings, and all the font screwed up, like half letters showing etc, but just re-entered and it was fine
Great work.

This is ice cream sandwich for the Dream/Sapphire. Yes, you read that right. Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich. We currently have cm9 and AOKP mostly working. AOSP is next
What works:
It boots
Touchscreen
Wifi
Mobile data
Audio
sdcard
Bluetooth (maybe. It turns on. I don't have devices to test with)
What doesn't:
Camera
Hardware acceleration
probably everything else, tell us
info:

flashing instructions:
you need to use custom mtd. I used 140 for /system and 20 for /cache (rom currently requires a /cache partitoin. will be fixed in a later update)
1. download all needed files and place them on your sdcard. mtdpartmap.txt needs to be at the root of it
2. flash recovery patch.
3. wipe system, data, and cache
4. reboot into recovery.
5. flash rom and kernel
6. Flash gapps if desired
7. flash boot patch
8. reboot into rom
9. wait.
10. enjoy the awesome
To use data, you need to put in your apn settings. Google to find these.

Sorry for the blurry pics. Used my other phone running cm9 with a partially working cam
Roadmap:
Slim down (in progress)
Mess with hw acceleration and camera (maybe never) - this will be alpha3/beta1 if it happens
Port AOSP
Changelog:
Alpha2.2: update to latest code. good cm9 release.
Alpha2.1: not released
Alpha2: fixed audio
Alpha1.1: small fixes (keyboard, other stuff) cm9 only bugfix release
Alpha1: fixed wifi, sdcard, and home button (skiped in aokp)
Alpha0: initial public release.
If you want to build yourself (please do, we need more people fixing stuff), the repo init command will look like this:
Code:
$ repo init -u https://github.com/UnitedDev/android.git -b ics
Note: rules on using this rom for other projects
Most of android is under the apache2 license. just don't violate that and we're good.
more specific rules: source is on my github, do whatever you want within the terms of the licences. make your own rom, use it to port other devices, release a rom that is exactly the same with a new name and a shiny theme, I don't care as long as you are building from source.
If you use prebuilt anything from releases of this rom, please be nice and send me a pm asking for permission. this is supposed to be an open community, but i hate seeing 20+ cm7 roms with nothing different except name and bundled apps. If you don't ask, and you havent made something different enough from this rom to be worth having its own thread, it may or may not get reported.
First
cm9 ! i will use now !
thanks !

Can anyone confirm the status of wifi and data? I'd test wifi, but I can't find my girlfriend's phone and she is asleep...
I don't want to put water into the wine, but ... The status of the ROM is more or less in the same state as I had my ICS some month ago. (@Tvall: you should have a look at my repo, if you didn't do that already.) Wifi / Bluetooth should work without problems, at least at that time I had it working. The biggest problem (and the most important reason why I suspended the wok on it): to low memory on the G1. Startup of services from time to time failed even without any additionals apps installed.
Probably on the MyTouch it will run better, but I do not expect, that it will run decently on the G1, but I might be wrong ...

It runs decently (apps dont close much) on my mytouch, which is why I'm working on it. My plan is to get cm9 stable enough, then work on an aosp rom. That should be a little lighter.
Has anybody gotten this to run on a g1 yet. I managed to install, but it went crazy. I started doing a force close loop. By that i mean that it booted started then said trebuche has stopped working. I press ok then com.android.phone stopped working. i press ok then trebuche has stopped ... and so on. I followed the install to the letter a few times but i couldn't get it to run.
Nice work! Have you tried the EGL files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526920 ? Hero has same gpu (adreno 130) as dream/sapphire so it *should* work Not sure about kernel however

As expected, 3G data not working same as in cm10
In adb shell:
[email protected]:/ # ifconfig rmnet0
rmnet0: Cannot assign requested address
What is missing? kernel module, user space daemon?
If someone can link me some tuto about networking in android...

No video playback. This rom uses the same libs and proprietary files than iuss cm10, and obviouly suffers same issues...
BTW, pa looks great on OT995

Indeed, I really based this rom on CM 10 so all their issues will also appear here. .
But the progress will be regular I hope.
If many ppl are interested, I'll keep working on it.
And YES, ot 995 is really targeted for paranoid Android

I will throw any rom I can at this phone, so please continue!
I've never tried PA before, so I'll check out as much as I can. I experienced one bug. When I tried entering Paranoid android settings, it crashed.
This rom is very nice. I can't test it like I would like to though cause the battery won't charge. I guess it's just a bug that needs to be rectified. I will try the next test rom for sure though.
EDIT:
Just flashed back to my backup of iuss's CM10. That fast. So you can get back to ICS, GB guys. Don't sweat it.
Took all of about 5-7 min between posts.
As long as you backup before you flash you'll have no problem at all.
Just reverse the process.
Boot the original recovery by iuss
Wipe data/factory reset
and proceed to restore in the usual manner.
Good luck and happy Droiding!

THAT is strange.. my phone was working quite weel and i was able to change parameters in the PA settings..
did you at least see the submenu of PA settings or not ?
Wiped everything and reflashed PA...
Rebooted...
"Settings" crash immediately when "PA settings" click. No submenu appears.
I have to enable android debug to get battery charging.
Very strange indeed...
Benetnath, do you have an idea how to track/fix 3G data?

Aces Droid Plus
Official Page: Aces Droid Plus Forum - Presentazione
Hello guys ... Since I bought this terminal I'm wandering looking for a "perfect" configuration between speed and stability for this device: I think I found it and I want to share it with you in this new ROM still a bit unripe, but already ultra powerful
I called it Aces Droid Plus because I'm working so that it becomes one of the best ROM for this phone ... Yes, I know ... It may be a difficult task, but I assure you that I will and perseverance to sell
Well, let's move to the presentation:
Based on S7500XXMA4 FW (Android Gingerbread 2.3.6)
Lox Kernel v2.15.2
Pre-rooted
Init.d Support
/etc/hosts file tweaked
build.prop & gps.conf tweaks
zipalign every boot

Binary system-server from JB
No SMS log
CRT-OFF animation
Lidroid 14 Toggles
Aces_Droid_Tweaks Init.d script
App & Extra:
Smart Launcher
Dolphin Browser
VLC Media Player
ICS camera & Clock
Mms.apk ported from CM7
Color Note
DigiCal
Hacker's KeyboardCustom Boot animation

CHANGELOG
Aces Droid Plus v0.9.7 Beta
FIX:
Fix IO boost
FIX restore Samsung keyboard
FIX 3G Networking + Entropy generator
BUGs:
It will run every apps except Subway Surfers and Antutu
I don't feel responsible for any damage or brick due to flash this ROM, do so at your own risk!
Flash mode: copy the zip in your SD card, then do all the wipe (data/factory reset, wipe Dalvik cache, format /emmc and, if you want, format /system) then select "Flash zip from sdcard" with CWM. Don't do the wipes for FIXes or you'll delete the whole system!
Enjoy!
I recommend: Governor SmartassH3, minfreq = 245/320MHz & maxfeq = 1008MHz and CFQ scheduler.
Anyway, these are my preferences ... You can choose the configuration that best suits you

Thans to:
Androidiani.com forum in the first place that allowed me to have a launching pad for this ROM born a little 'by chance from my desire to modding, but of "my" modding not of pre-built ROMs
imre85 for his patience and the enormous help (even unconscious I refer to my "theft" don't hate me ) he gave me in recent months
troll4 which was the first true supporter of this ROM
BlackBurner and mb-14 for having made available the source of their kernel
lokeshsaini94 for Atomods I used initially and that made me discover many wonderful MODs and his guides who have allowed me to implement these MODs making me free from his prebuilt packages, allowing me to include only those that I like and I didn't find unnecessary
petrukgrinder for guides that allowed me to implement the date & time JB style and carrier at the bottom of the status bar
lidroid for the 14 toggles
as the last on the list, but not least all users of this forum, FB, G+ and AcesDroidPlus forum that downloading the ROM and using it have given a meaning to my infinite flutter (it is my first android phone: I had to learn everything from scratch virtually alone. Your support has been and always will be a great incentive to push me to improve my person and my "product" increasingly)
wow! amazing. i thought smart launcher only works on 4.0 and above
i cant try the rom atm, but as soon as i get home, i will install it. it just looks awesomely good
amazing work
Added Mms.apk working extracted from CM7 as a alternative to replace the not working included Mms.apk You'll find the flashable package in the Download page
So Nice Rom`

Finished setting it up and restoring apps. Digging it so far, everything seems to be working though I havent tried a few things such as the camera or gallery yet.
All these ROMs tend to share the same issue: the camera doesn't work.
I noticed this with a few ROMs I tested on my phone as well - something about the cameras always seem to take longer to get working.

running this dual-booted on my wifi only model now.
looks nice, HDMI/MHL not working by default... found a build.prop edit i'll be trying to get that working ("Add "ro.hdmi.enable" set value to "true" ")
edit: didnt work. i wanted to go a custom rom and have HDMI/MHL working, is there any tweaks to enable it or should i give up on this rom?
Working really well on my SM-T310, thanks !
What launchers come with this ROM? Any recommendations for what to start with?
Front and rear camera working fine for me. Should this be the case?

I have to say, MHL support would be sexalicious, especially for me working at Futureshop trapped in the perpetually dead Samsung store surrounded by TVs that all have MHL.

for now i went back to stock. tried dual booting, but the dual boot kernel blocks overclocking, which i rather need for the HD anime i watch in software decoding.

Just had quick talk with @Chirag_Galani in regards to this ROMs future and he has said to hopefully have some more AOKP builds for us by the end of May as he has been studying for his final exams (Good luck :good.
Due to PC format issues he also has to work on the ROM from scratch but says the expected build will be bug free and will have far more stability, features and various enhancements in the ROM.
Ok guys.
Just to inform you I have not forgotten this thread. Yesterday i had compiled a build and it had some bugs which i expect to debug at my earliest and post an update to this ROM for your device.
Sorry for the delay but I had my final exams, studies and busy life. Now things have improved and I have started Android Development yet again.
Regards,
Chirag.
