[Q] Database integration between WIndows and Android through Wireless Network - General Questions and Answers

Good day, I am new to this forum.
I'd like to ask about the possibility and the general way to do my project.
My project includes an application running on a PC(w/ Windows of course). and an android app wirelessly connected to the PC. Both application should be able to communicate with each other sending and receiving request from each other. I'm particular with database. How can they access the same database located on the PC. Also, can the android access files like pictures from the PC and use it in the app. I'll really appreciate any help becuase this is very crucial for my graduation
I don't know if this is the best place to post this but I'm desperate

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] Help Needed: App Development for Field Data Collection (MS Access)

Guys, I am in need of inputs from you regarding a query that I have.
I work for a corporate group in India and am looking for some technological solution to replace the pen and paper survey questionnaires for field executives. The device I have shortlisted is Samsung Galaxy Note.
Basically I want an application which
- is compatible with Microsoft Access (I have asked our IT guys to develop a survey form)
- is easy to use for field executives for data entry in the form
- is able to send/sync the filled in data to the server wirelessly (3G/EDGE/Wifi)
- is able to connect the device to a pc and reproduce the data on a pc
- is user friendly and bug free
Please let me know if there is already solution available for my requirements (which I may have overlooked) and if custom developed, how much this application is going to cost me.
@ Mods, I searched the forum but could not find any relevant post, hence starting this thread. Feel free to move it to correct section if necessary.
Thanks and looking forward for your replies.

BUMP... No reply!
Is there no one who could offer some help and direction for me here?
Hi,
don't know if you already soved your issue but I have a suggestion: Memento
I have the same problem you do and have been searching forever. The best I could get was memento (from the market). It has a one time cost of 9,9 USD and it lets you create your own data forms. Everything is stored locally on the device and it can be synchronized (to google docs in my case).
I've been operating 7 devices with this solution for the past 6 months and it works prety well. It cannot do everything I need, but it was the best I could find.
Other than this there are other solutions but the costs involved are a lot higher (something like 10 to 20 USD per month per user)
Hope it helps
Cheers

[IDEA] Cloud computer app for android platform

I know this has probably been though about before, but I'm serious about this... I have an idea for an application that can be used for anyone needing a computer work environment accessible on their mobile android device, whether it be your phone or tablet.
I would give more details, but people could steal it like no ones business!
Therefore, I am creating a website that will allow developers and coders to get together and help build this wonderful idea. I will edit this post when I have created it.
Any questions? Please feel free to ask below!

[Completed] [Q] Android App transfer of ownership

In regards to app transfer process, has anyone experienced difficulties after a transfer of ownership was done?
We are developing an app for a client, who have an existing app being hosted and managed by a 3rd party vendor. We need to understand the process of helping the client get ownership of the current app and then with the same name of the app, push our (new) binaries as an update to the app. The key thing is that there should not be any disruption to the current service and the transition to the new app is transparent to the users – All reviews, ratings etc. remain the same.
- What are the key information transfers that must happen during transfer of ownership of an app (Keys, version no. etc.)?
- If new update to an app is completely different in architecture, is there an approval process from Google Play to go through? If yes, how long does this usually take?
So to summarize, ‘V’ is the third party vendor hosting the app named ‘X’ for our client ‘C’. We (Dev company ‘D’) want to replace the current app with our implementation, but retaining the existing app name, customer base, reviews, ratings etc. such that existing users just get a notification to upgrade their existing app and it changes to the new app once they download.
Thanks!
Hi,
I can find nothing relevant on XDA about this. I suggest you contact Google...
But you could ask your question here if you wish,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] [Q] Question about hotspot security

Hi to everyone, this is my first post even if I've often read this beautiful forum. I have a question about hotspot capabilities in CyanogenMod 12 Lollipop (5.0.2). I had my S4(jftlexx) personal WPA protected hotspot (though with a very dummy password) and was sharing connection with my girlfriend, when suddenly looking at the phone I found out two devices where connected. As soon as I was aware I stopped the hotspot and now here's my question: if someone was able to deduct my hotspot password and connected to my personal hotspot, was it able to browse my personal file and eventually steal it?
I'm asking because I have on my phone very sensible data, that should remain on my own. I know that it's not directly possible without a dedicated app installed, like an FTP server (i have superbeam installed even I'm 100% sure its server was not running and sharing nothing), but someone with some knowledge and hacking intentions could be able to do this? thank you, and sorry, I'm a little in panic
We see you have also posted your question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/hotspot-security-t3100751
Please follow XDA rules regarding posting multiple threads on the same topic. As you have received an answer already on the other Thread this one will be closed.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
Hmm, if they block YouTube, it's very likely any proxy will be blocked as well, or at least a strict policy (including disciplinary action) about circumventing the firewall. I would be very careful with how you approach this, and likely not trying to access YouTube would be the best course of action. Just a suggestion.
If feeling brazen enough though, please register for an account (so you can post in other forums), and then check this thread out:

Hope this helps, and good luck!
