Questions about sound routing via car docks - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I searched, but did not find much so reaching out to y'all.
I have a stock unrooted Nexus S. I cant find a car dock that will redirect audio through the USB. Here is what I'm wanting to do if it is at all possible.
Im coming from a Samsung Captivate. I have a car dock that charges and routes audio out the dock. Basically, all sounds, calls, notifications, nav, pandora, etc would be heard via my car speakers.
Now, with the captivate, I had to use a app called Dock Sound Redirect. That app is not compatible on the stock Nexus ROM or kernel.
Im willing to root, no plans though on any custom roms yet. Waiting to see how the stock ICS is first
So, the hardware Im using is pictured below. Its basically a male micro usb to female micro usb and 3.5 mm
Looking now for thoughts on how to make this so I can build my dock

My Nexus desk dock used in my truck bluetooth.

I have my stereo hooked up with an audio cable in the back with a 3.5 out. Hooked up to my desk dock to it and usb car charger, and you are set. You can hide it and never bring it out. You can also get a double usb car charger (Griffin makes one) and have one for the dock, that's put away and the other on your phone.
FYI: skinned phones will not dock due to connectors.
You can see video on youtube title:

Sorry, I can't link cause of my old/new account.
Any questions please ask.
Yeah it is a good way to set it up isn't it.
I did the same in my VW Golf.

I also have the Car Dock as well. So I use the Desk Dock for media audio and the Car Dock to look after charging, phone audio and Navigation. the two devices play well together as you would expect.

Good Job Man.. That is an awesome set-up.

Any experience with this OEM VW head unit?

I was wondering if anyone had tried a2dp with their nexus and this head unit. I'm about to pull the trigger on one but will hold back if there are any problems reported.
P.S. I know there is a head unit thread but I want to keep that as a list of confirmed working units as opposed to a flood of questions like this.
I would venture a guess that it will be fine. I would check over at vwvortex (dot) com

I'm guessing it will be fine too since i have yet to encounter an a2dp device that doesn't work great with proper reception.
I am actually a member of vwvortex and the consensus over there is that the a2dp audio quality is crap on this head unit. But the only people who have claimed this are iphone 3gs users and i'm %95 sure the iphone only supports very low bitrate audio streams. I've asked for people with smartphones to chime in but there is no response as off yet.
If all else fails there is the aux input socket. If a2dp actually works well I will add this to the headunit thread.

[Q] Bluetooth Headphone and Bluetooth version

which bluetooth headphone?
According to SGS Spec, our phone support v3.0 bluetooth (not sure how it benefit us compare with version 2.0)
I'm regular jogger, listen to music during my jog is what I like to do, unfortunately, I just had my expensive (to me at least) wire earphone torn apart , might be due to extensive movement during exercise, hence I'm looking at sporty bluetooth earphone/headphone.
I found Motorokr S9, but it's not available in my country (Asia). any other suggestion?

any suggestion?
I got the S9-HD
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875982274
and they are pretty much the best I had! I used to have the red ones like on the pictures but I got it from a chineese website, so I'm not shure if they are the real deal or an imitation, but the HD's are wayyy better!
please use search next time. there's already a long existing thread for this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770339

thanks mate, will request admin to remove this.

Find me something that fits these parameters?

I'm trying to find a perfect solution for a "car music/nav" system in my car.
I was CLOSE with the samsung epic... see picture:

However when you route audio through it the sound gets changed into horrible noise. It's a hardware defect and it's no good.
Now I've almost got it with the 7 inch htc flyer, except there's no horizontal dock AND the MHL adapter cable wont let you charge it at the faster AC rate.
Can anyone locate a product like this:
- Horizontal docking option (like the evo 3d)
- Dock MUST include AUDIO out
- Dock must be able to charge at the AC rate, not the USB rate
- Real GPS inside
- Wifi
- Preferably be no less than a 4 inch screen
- When routing Audio through dock it must not be degraded to changed in ANY form (aka samsung epic dock)
That's all I ask for. is it really that hard to find this elusive product??[/QUOTE]
wonder if the NOTE would do this

[Q] Bluetooth Headset Battery Level

Today I opened my shiny new Jaybird Bluebuds X and going through the manual, I ran into this little feature:

"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
There's an app that can read the battery level on Plantronics headsets, why is there no app that can do this for others? Windows Phone apparently is able to read this too. The only big Bluetooth Headset battery app for Android calculates it based on connection time. I was never able to use it properly with my older Jaybird Freedom headphones because I was always losing the data and/or forgetting to run it to start tracking the usage.
I know this is a Nexus 5 thread, but I'm just wondering if anyone has found a way to get this on Android, or would be interested in getting a bounty going. I'll be happy to pledge some money towards this, being pretty much clueless about app development.
It's not that big of a deal, but the battery warning on these Jaybirds is very annoying, beeping constantly when it's about to run out. Nothing that a consistent charging schedule can't fix, and with a regular micro USB connector, a quick charge in the car will keep them charged up.
I'm just sad that we're missing on a tiny but cool feature.
