I have my stereo hooked up with an audio cable in the back with a 3.5 out. Hooked up to my desk dock to it and usb car charger, and you are set. You can hide it and never bring it out. You can also get a double usb car charger (Griffin makes one) and have one for the dock, that's put away and the other on your phone.
FYI: skinned phones will not dock due to connectors.
You can see video on youtube title:

Sorry, I can't link cause of my old/new account.
Any questions please ask.
Yeah it is a good way to set it up isn't it.
I did the same in my VW Golf.

I also have the Car Dock as well. So I use the Desk Dock for media audio and the Car Dock to look after charging, phone audio and Navigation. the two devices play well together as you would expect.

I searched, but did not find much so reaching out to y'all.
I have a stock unrooted Nexus S. I cant find a car dock that will redirect audio through the USB. Here is what I'm wanting to do if it is at all possible.
Im coming from a Samsung Captivate. I have a car dock that charges and routes audio out the dock. Basically, all sounds, calls, notifications, nav, pandora, etc would be heard via my car speakers.
Now, with the captivate, I had to use a app called Dock Sound Redirect. That app is not compatible on the stock Nexus ROM or kernel.
Im willing to root, no plans though on any custom roms yet. Waiting to see how the stock ICS is first
So, the hardware Im using is pictured below. Its basically a male micro usb to female micro usb and 3.5 mm
Looking now for thoughts on how to make this so I can build my dock

However when you route audio through it the sound gets changed into horrible noise. It's a hardware defect and it's no good.
Now I've almost got it with the 7 inch htc flyer, except there's no horizontal dock AND the MHL adapter cable wont let you charge it at the faster AC rate.
Can anyone locate a product like this:
- Horizontal docking option (like the evo 3d)
- Dock MUST include AUDIO out
- Dock must be able to charge at the AC rate, not the USB rate
- Real GPS inside
- Wifi
- Preferably be no less than a 4 inch screen
- When routing Audio through dock it must not be degraded to changed in ANY form (aka samsung epic dock)
That's all I ask for. is it really that hard to find this elusive product??[/QUOTE]
wonder if the NOTE would do this
Hi all,
I'm looking for a dock for my Nexus 9. Ideally, I want something that will not make it top heavy, that by giving it a little tap on top will make it fall. I also would like a integrated reversible charger so I can put my Nexus 9 on the dock facing me. I would settle for just a dock with no USB but enough space between the port and bottom so I can fit the USB cable without it bent bent 90 degrees. I looked around the forum and saw only 1 thread about docks, and all of them were not good enough, either because they had an attached USB cable that had the port facing the wrong way, or they were luxury docks made out of aircraft grade aluminum and no space for USB cable.
I'm sure somebody has looked for this, if you know any products that fit my need, please post links.
Right now i'm using this metal this i've had for years, it works but there is not enough space for my cable

Something like this would be perfect if it were just a little bit wider. It seems to me like the center of gravity would be quite high and the tablet might fall over

Howdy gents and gals,
Just ordered the M9 to replace my Note 3 and I'm looking to get a dock that allows audio to be passed through the USB interface or just one of those wonky ones I've seen years ago with a USB port and headphone connector on them. I don't care if it supports fast charge or not, I just want something that I drop my phone down on and be able to listen to music/radio through a set of speakers that I have here on my desk at work. Space is a bit of a premium, so running 2 cables all over my desk isn't optimal (not surprising for a reception desk with 4 computers and 3 monitors). Hence, the dock as I can leave tucked in the corner cubby that has the wire management run in it.
I had a dock for my Note 3 that was just strictly for charging, and I got away with connecting the speaker's audio cable to the headphone jack on the top of the phone.
Referring to something like this (I know, it's an iphone dock, but something similar):

I've been poking around, but haven't been successful in finding stuff yet. Charging/Sync docks are plentiful, just not media docks...
If anyone has any suggestions or some way to modify an existing dock, I'll take 'em!
In another thread someone asked me to take a picture of my setup so here it is, its a Brodit phone cradle that is custom made for specifically the LG V10 and is mounted to the car using a Kuda leather mount that matches my E550's interior.
Up until recently I have always used CarComm cradles because they use a modular design where you don't need to rewire the car every time you get a new phone but since they didn't make one yet for the V10 I switched to Brodit mount and is hard wired to constant power. The converted box is a 2A charger and is SUPER fast at charging the phone. On my 30 minute commute I get a good 35-40% charge with the GPS running..

In my previous E-Class (years ago) I used the CarComm cradle and as you can see with this one you only replace the phone holder part and dont have to re-wire the whole thing when you get a new phone:
