I don't know about the other people that have gotten the OTA (or did it manually), but mine still has the text message bug present in EP4P where the texting will just randomly stop and won't resume until you reboot the phone. Anyone else have this issue?
I had that happen to me for the first time ever last night. Really strange.
I've had text messages randomly fail to send, but I've never had to restart my phone to get it working again. I just wait a little bit and resend it and it goes through.
That has happened to me on every GB leak from ep1w and on, including gunny charged and humble.
Every once in a while every message fails to send, and when i retry, it immediately says failed within 1 second of pressing send like it isn't even trying. The only way to fix this is rebooting.

I would def. contact Verizon about it. I have never had that problem with mine. Occasionally it doesn't send and it sends when I resend. But never until I reboot.

Is everybody using the stock Messaging app?
I use ChompSMS exclusively, and I have never seen this problem on any ROMs I have run, including the latest Hiumble GB ROMs.

I use Chomp and Google Voice (for new contacts) and have never had the issue either.
Weird I had mine happen for the first time yesterday.

hey i've notice that whenever i received a text message, there would be times where the it would say that the message is from another contact in my phonebook. when i click on it, it would tell me that its from the person that did sent it. for example....
josh texted me a message, and when i slide down the notification bar it could say brett, then when i click on it, it would take me to the conversation i had or having with josh
do you guys know what i'm talking about?
Are you on froyo?

Has happened to me as well on a stock JH7 captivate.
This happened to me a lot when I first got the Captivate...turns out that I had some random contacts linked together, and once I took care of that it never happened again. It doesn't sound like this is the case with you, but I'd say just check it out in case.
i experienced that also before... im on stock jh7 right now. i noticed that when i ran task killers and terminating the messaging app it would mess up my messaging when receiving sms.
i tried excluding the messaging app from the task killer and everything worked fine ever since. try it it. might help you.
I'm on JH7 and am still getting that. I did have task killer, but I uninstalled it. I've checked all my linked contacts and they are properly linked. So I'm not sure what else is causing this.

what is the jh7? i'm really new at this. i have atnt and i updated the software to the latest version.
Hmm. I've been on various XT720 ROMs over the past while so I can't say this happened on a specific ROM. Anyways, I've had now 3 people in the last month make me aware that I had sent them random texts (which were actually texts that I had sent earlier on in the day or previous day). All three times this happened was right after I turned on my phone. (It could have happened more than 3 times but I only am aware of 3). Anyone have any ideas what the issue is? Some error with my phone, or an issue with the network perhaps? Or something else? These texts aren't costing me anything extra but I'd still like to get an idea what exactly is happening.
Thanks
Not something I have experienced, I am using khalpowers galaxy V4, and have used several Dexter versions, using both standard messaging app and GoSMS. Some sms-apps have been known to duplicate messages, what are you using? If it's not the app messing up, best bet is network.

Using stock.
I saw a different thread where someone seemed to have a similar issue - being caused by a message pending but not actually going through at the time it was sent and therefore when the phone was turned on it would detect an unsent message and send it through. Said to turn on delivery reports and then he would see if message actually went through. I'll try that since there's no downside.
I have text one number from my phone for months and thousand of messages at that, suddenly tonight in the middle of the conversation I can't get any text through to her. Says unable to send. I can mms her and she can text me. I can call her as well. I was on bamf gb 2.05. I have now restored back to the mr1 updated rooted only still can not text her. I have deleted the contact tried with and without 1 in front of the number. I can text any other number on the phone normally. Anyone have a clue since Verizon no longer offers 24hour support? How ****ed is that?

I'm having the same problem with my moms number....worked great, then bam...nothing tried taking the 1 off,it works occasionaly.
this only happened when I went to BAMF gingerRemix worked flawlessly w/other BAMF ROMs
Have you tried changing ROMs?
Since I went from gb back to stock I would say yes... Mysteriously started working again this morning...very odd it was like it was blocked...
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
This happened to me for 6 hours one night. I couldn't receive any SMS but I could send. After 6 hours it started working again. If you google this issue, other people are having it. I don't think it is ROM related.
I don't think it's a TB issue.. I haven't experienced it on my TB, but I did experience it on my LG Voyager way back when..
Unless they have the same bug..
Which would suck..
Greetings! I would like to assist with this issue. I see that these concerns have been posted recently. If this is still occuring, please tweet me your details and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks!

woah new verizon rep on the form
I randomly just stopped receiving text messages with my rooted Droid Charge that has the latest version of gingerbread installed. Everything worked fine until Tuesday, but I just realized today messages weren't coming through that people were sending. I did a battery pull, and now it appears that texts are coming in, but the messages that I missed over the past couple of days have not come through. What happened to them? Are they lost in the ether? Are they sitting in a queue?
I can't call Verizon, because if they ask for my phone system info, they'll know I rooted. Any advice?
Just fake the information, just like all of us have had to do when calling our ISPs when asked to reboot your computer.
Well there was a data outage a day or two ago, that might have been your problem. IDK, just a guess.
I had a similar experience last week. I was on 100% stock no root. I randomly missed text the whole week. It def was not due to a rom or being rooted. As far as I know I have been receiving all my text this week. I'm slowly getting flashbacks of my old fascinate

How would I know the current build, kernel, OS, etc? Does anyone have the stock Charge info?

I did a battery pull and that fixed the problem for about 15 hours. Now I'm not receiving texts again. Could this be caused by a ROM or a particular app? This just randomly started occurring out of the blue.

Are you missing any calls at all? I would suggest trying a new SIM card.
I was having trouble getting texts a few months ago. It was a problem on Verizon's end. When you call them, you'll have to get to at least level 2 tech support before they can be any help. I'm not sure what they did, but the next day I was getting all the texts again. The ones that you didn't get are gone though.
Has anyone had problems with receiving text messages with the Charge? Every now and then people would ask me why I never responded to their texts and I would never even get them. Sometimes it even happens while having a full conversation via text, the person wouldn't answer my last text and it would turn out that it's my phones fault for not receiving it. Sending texts is fine.
P.S. - I'm using nitro's Eclipse 2.0 rom based off of the latest FP1 update

Yes, I Odin'd back to stock EP4D then took the update to FP1. Then flashed recovery and installed Eclipse 2.0. This problem has been happening for a while now before we were even on gingerbread

I suggest you should:
1. Roll back to FP1 and keep that for awhile see if the issue resolved.
2. If not resolved, contact Verizon support, they can see if there's any network issue or SIM card issue. They can eventually send you a new SIM card or swap out your phone.
It's happened to me too while texting my girlfriend. It happened twice at he most inopportune moments, so we both thought we were mad at one another and stopped answering. Interesting. Are you sure it's a problem with the phone and not just verizon network issues?

Thanks for the suggestion, I might try going back to complete stock this weekend and see if it happens again.
And this is the 2nd sim card (and also the 2nd Charge) I got from verizon, happened with the first sim card (and phone) too, so i dont think its the sim card

I don't think it's the phone because this is my second Charge and the first one did this too. It might be verizon network issue, but I always have service when this happens. It's strange
Just thought of something, I've been using Go SMS for the longest time now. Could it be that Go SMS is the problem? I'm gonna uninstall it for a little bit and see what happens
