[Q] Unlocking the sensation? - HTC Sensation

I have no idea why I would do this but people have told me multiple times to do it that it is essential for a rooted phone.
So far I know I can use different services?
I use Tmobile US so that means I can use Verizon?
Does that work for data too? I don't get data service very well in school but I know Verizon does.
So will that help me out?

I'm not being rude but what are you on about? Your post isn't very clear as to what information you require. Most of your post seems to be statements with question marks.

the hardware in the sensation is not compatible with verizon.. so no.
---------- Post added at 07:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:06 PM ----------
you will be able to use it with different GSM providers though, and oversees etc. its not a bad thing at all to do.

Your right. I apologize, I wasnt paying much attention to my post because I'm trying to keep up with class.
Basically my question is, what would unlocking my phone offer me?

I assume you are referring to S-OFF and root as opposed to unlocking it so you can put different carrier SIMs in it (assuming compatibile network frequencies).
Flexibility to try different ROMs. (e.g. get rid or bloatware).
Opportunity to back up the phone (Nandroid).
Opportunity to back up the Applications and associated data (Titanium).
Make sure you don't have Carrier IQ on you phone.
....
....

not exactly haha
but you did answer me with one line of your post.
I have a perm root on my phone.
running miui.us
"quadband" is what I'm used to hearing it called
that just means I can use any sim card?

[Q] Can Sprint tell if i'm using a Cyanogen mod?

Pretty much the title says it. I am getting a new work phone and i want to know if they will be able to detect if i upgrade to CM7 from the stock ROM. I heard a rumor at work that Sprint said something to my boss when a bunch of us put CM7 on our old work phones.
Yes, and once they do they will kidnap you and sell you into the human trafficking trade.
They cannot see what software you have on your phone.. all they can see is the SIM, which will report back what the IMEI of the model you are running is,if that.
This rumor was probably started by an IT guy who wanted to ensure that no one voided their warranty by rooting.

The only thing I've ever heard anyone worry about is that if you use CM to tether to avoid Sprint's $30/mo charge they would know you're using too much data - however, there are way too many reasons you could be using large amounts of data w/ your phone (other than tethering), so I wouldn't think twice about it.

I am sorry that we can not help you due to the fact that you ARE IN THE WRONG FORUM!!! This is not the S4 forum. It is the SAMSUNG GALAXY S (4G) Come on now buddy, slow down. Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Maybe our forum should be renamed to tmobile galaxy s hspa+
All of you guys who actually reply should link them to myst's "this is not the s4" thread instead of complaining.
A simple "read this #link to myst's thread#" will work fine. Unless you just wanna get your post count for some raisin. (yes, raisin)

Or I could just pop in and say, "1st Link on right of my Sig."
Would that be one of the ones that, on my forum theme, are completely covered by the Thanks/Quote/Multi-Quote/Quick Reply buttons and which I can't read? I see your name, the top of the TEAM ACID MEMBER section which I can only get by inference, and then down to Team Acid's Projects. I can tell that there's a link in there, but... unreadable.
@Theraze, it would be the one that says "S4 Links" right below the graphic.

Yep. Completely blocked on that one. But hey, on this one I can see it, so... YMMV. At least now I know that it's the two-pixel link below when blocked.

Lookout from T-Mobile Questions

Does anyone use it?
Should I be using it?
Does it actually work?
If no, what should I be using?
It's a well developed app and for the most part is good. I have a close friend who works as an engineer for them. However it's not necessary and I disable it myself.
If you are the type of person who downloads shady apps and goes to shady websites then it's probably worth keeping.
I pay for the insurance and it comes with the premium so I kept it like the fact takes a picture if someone tries to unlock the phone more than 3 times.
Its cool that they include it but I always disable it.

Could you elaborate on this particular "other nonsense" that comes with this app? I have not looked to deeply into knowledgeable-users reviews yet, and still am perusing through various forums for this kind of information...

Do you root to disable it? Or is there a non-root method for disabling this particular bloatware?

Its been a while and probably a number of devices later but I think you can just go into app and disable it, I don't think you need root.

If one of our IEMI numbers get corrupted, it would be interesting to see how to restore it.
Would be better ask for IMEI reparation if that's the case

Take note of your IMEI before doing anything. Then you can restore it, but changing IMEI is illegal in some countries.

OK but how can I do that?
I want to change the imei. Because Turkey is a very tax. They're selling 3 times the price of a phone. Those who know how to change, please.
To change the IMEI number you need to inject in the underlying protocol stack while the stack is powering on. Usually this API is not provided by well known chip vendors. Also, on OS level it needs root access, and accesss to efi partition, if you are able to get the tools for this you can rewrite your imei number. But then again you will be in need of a genuine imei number to replace. otherwise the gsm network will not accept your phone.

I'm facing the same problem here, you'll need external hardware that cost quite a bit to do that smoothly. Any bootleg smartphone shop will do that for you for around 50TL. Most people on the internet will demand more to do it or teach you about it anyway.
Just ask around the shops,

Unlocking bootloader on T-Mobile phone

Is there some binary I need? I've heard different things but unsure how to get OEM switch to light up versus greyed out. I'm new to this brand. I'm told you must wait 45 days? There are no custom ROM yet so not needed I guess but I'm curious nevertheless.

Is there some program they send me that actually does this unlocking? Forgive me but I have not used OnePlus phones yet and am trying to learn this Oxygen OS layer. I basically only wish to root to get root level apps to backup app data etc. The idea that SIM unlock = Bootloader Unlock is very strange. No other equipment works like this. You can SIM unlock without BL unlock. So please educate me. Thanks.

If you have a T-Mobile version... There is an app on it named "unlock", it's controlled through there. If not T-Mobile then I do not know.

there is an unlock app on your phone called "Unlock"
If you use the Unlock app, chances are it will tell you that your device cannot be unlocked because it is not yet paid for in full (that is, if you're financing it). You're best off contacting T-Mobile Help on Twitter

Maybe it is this device since it is so new. I give up for tonight and will check tomorrow. It says it is checking it live on their server so if she actually did unlock, unsure why it would error out.
