Hey mates,
I asked myself, why not to find a way to use google voice (cause not video) instead of skype. The point is, that skype is raping my battery! I have to be at least 1GHz to get skype smooth working, beside that 1/3 of battery for about 20 minutes talking is a pain!
So, I wanna know, if there is a way to get google voice working, like taking the SGS app and port it to G3, just without video^^

Use an app called viber. You can make free calls with it but the phone call voice delays 1 second for me. Not a big problem though. And please don't used words such as rape. It's not funny and shouldn't be used in that context.

Dear devs,
http://www.bgr.com/2011/07/01/skype-for-android-updated-with-video-calling-support-video/
After reading that article, I'd like to formally request someone to find a way to make this work on the Charge! Finally, we can Skype someone on a computer (PC/Mac) or on any Android or iPhone! Amazing. It's also about time.
And this edited Skype does not work on the Charge: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Skyp...alls-working-on-non-supported-devices_id20025
Apparently it works on the charge but you have to be on a gingerbread rom.
Interesting, would be nice to finally have a use for this front-facing camera(there are other apps but no one uses them, all the people I know use Skype).
Also, sorry for derailing but I'm going to assume you use Skype on your Charge, do you know how to stop it from auto-starting? I usually just open it, check who's online, send my messages, etc and task kill it but sometimes I'll hear the sound of it starting up (whether I'm using the phone or not). It just keeps my phone awake and kills battery, do you know how to stop this..?

Well on Windows it has the option of choosing not to startup with windows. I haven't checked it on Android.
Heh thanks anyway. So I'm assuming Skype hasn't let out any official word on the Charge(or any other phone) video call release date, I didn't hear anything about this initial update at all so I'm guessing it's just going to be surprises from here on out.

You have to go to the My Info tab and then press the menu button to access settings. In there, you can find a box to uncheck for starting automatically.

Support On Android Phones Is Getting Slower And Slower Than Normal From Skype.
Some Say Because of MS it is giving releases to Windows Phone's first and then Androids. Who Knows? Maybe, they can't be bothered unless it becomes mainstream like the Sensation.
Anyway, if you need Video Calls desperately - then there is only 1 tested way.
Tango. This App will do the job over WiFi for definite according to some users down at AndroidForums.com.
Download It Now From Market. Type In Google: 'Tango Voice & Video Calls' (First Link)
Hey guys! New to XDA. To keep this post short and simple, i bought the new Nexus 5 and so far its been great. However, i do have a slight problem that irks me in a bad way. At times google now will pick up my voice no problem. Google search, send a text, open a app you, call someone you name it, it works fine. Recently, however, google now tends to not pick up my voice, and the only way to remedy this is by restarting the phone. I remember reading about people have microphone issues and that phone calls sound muddy and video recording at times with bad units barely picks up ones voice. I, on the other hand, do not experience these problems. Only google now seems to show this problem. If anyone could help that'd be great . Im thinking since my video recording and phone calls are fine, its not a hardware issue. Do you think it might be software? I unfortunately cant post a video link in here so...ill try to rack 10 posts somewhere quick.
so it turns out XDA makes it pretty hard to post 10 posts. Just to get the quickest results, if you guys are up for it you can find the video on youtube. Just search "Nexus 5 Google Now glitch". the videos under the name john doe...lmao:good:
I have the same issue myself. 'OK Google' will work fine, then for some reason a while later it'll stop working. Sorry to say I don't know how to remedy it without a restart, but don't worry too much because it is a bug that is affecting other people too.
i see. im just wondering because if its a hardware issue i would wanna return it before im out of time.
Hello everyone!
What I'm looking to do is really simple, a LOT of people are interested in these feature, however, no one has a clear solution.
There has been a lot of post about this subject but they are most old post and there's nothing help full.
Here is the problem - whenever I'm talking over the phone, I can play any music I like and I can hear it perfectly, but the other side cant hear anything! even if ill let the music play using the phone speaker - the other side is silent (witch is strange cause when the speaker play, the mic should transfer the sound and shouldn't "care" who is making it).
So after a lot of searching for apps and different ways, I found out something interesting.. If I make the call using an VOIP (skype, viber and so on) and Ill play music at the same time - THE OTHER SIDE CAN HEAR IT PERFECTLY!!! witch means the phone is fully capable of doing it.
What is going wrong when I'm using the cellular network instead of VOIP? is there a way around it?
Ive noticed some people don't get WHY would I want to do it.. well, I'm working using my phone (sales) and using the exact same pitch. I would like to be super lazy and play a recorded version of me, and when its done, be able to just keep talking to the person without him being able to notice the difference.
Since I'm doing it for work, I cant use VOIP for regular calling since Ill lose the option to use "Airdroid".
I'm using Nexus 4, Slimkat rom (4.4.4).
ANY help at all will be appreciated
Good day all,
I ve had this watch for almost a year now and I still cant get SVoice to function similarly to OK Google on my Android Wear watch. Any advice?
It either doesnt hear me or my favorite part is when I say "text so and so" it will tell me that person is not in my contacts list.
Also is it me or does HERE navaitgator not work great (Im in NYC) as well as Google Maps on a wear watch? Maybe Im comparing too much..But there are serious quality dips here.
I asked the same question awhile ago and got zero response. Near as I can tell all it does is record a voice memo with no Reminder functions. Which is a shame cuz I'd love to have that. I can still read a Reminder on my watch from the phone though.
S Voice couldn't call a particular person or any other to be exact, then I added that person to a "buddy" list as a favorite and S Voice was able to recognize and call. I tried to do some navigation, but was getting a route only overview, no directions. I think it is possible to install Here Maps on the watch or it may need to be installed on the phone to function. Will try tomorrow.
Yeah, it's not Google, for sure. I wish there was some way the S2 would work with Google but apparently that's out.
Feedback for S Voice
Hi all,
We'd like to know more about the issue you're having with S Voice.
Can you please share the device information?
Please feel free to reply through here or on private message.

I use both gear S and S2. The gear s I use for work with a work sim and I can say "call <name>" and it dials from my work number even though the contact is on the phone, same for text. Is it a permission issue you're having? Though I do use a Samsung phone so maybe that helps, but to be honest I've tried the gear S wear port and found a new love for tizen on the S and S2, it's not pretty but does what I need and has best by far battery life.
