Voice2Go for Bluetooth Headset Dialing on Skyrocket? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi everyone, in an older thread here I saw that other people were not able to get their bluetooth headset to initiate a voice dial. This feature has worked fine with my old iPhone 3gs and my Plantronics Voyager Pro but when I long-press the headset button when the headset is paired with my skyrocket, nothing happens.
In the previous thread someone mentioned installing voice2go on his skyrocket and getting this voice dial to work? I googled this and all I could find was a really old windows mobile 6.0 application written by that name.
Could someone point me in the right direction for getting voice dialing initiated from bluetooth to work? Thanks!!

Go over to original At&t SG2 forum, grab the apk from one of those custom roms there or a system dump.

I've tried both the old Voice2Go apk and Cyberon Voice Commander from the market. Cyberon is much better for voice dialing from your BT. Voice2Go is reasonably accurate, but does not confirm Before dialing. Cyberon confirms prior to dialing. Me: "Call Joanne at Mobile." Cyberon: "Call Joanne at Mobile, is that correct?". Me: "yes." Cyberon: "Dialing." If you don't care whethor or not you occasionally call the wrong person, Voice2go is great. But for $5, Cyberon Voice Commander is a great app.
I find the Skyrocket to be VERY picky as to the BT headset you use. The Motorola HX550 works very well with the Skyrocket.

So if I get the Cyberon Voice Commander will I be able to initiate a voice dial from the button on my voyager pro or is this a deeper issue with an incompatibility between the stock ROM and my headset? Sorry I'm a complete noob with android I just switched from iPhone 4 days ago.

No worries. If your Voyager Pro works fine with all other functions, then I would think initiating Voice dialing from it would work fine. The Headsets I've tried didn't work worth a darn period, except for the HX550. The jawbone and the Blueant worked, but the voice confirmations were so quiet in comaparison to conversations, that they were worthless for voice dialing. (You could not hear the confirmation.)
I've not tried a plantronics. I've tried the motorola H17 and HX1, the Bluant Q2 and the Jawbone ERA. The only one I've tried that works worth a darn with the Skyrocket is the Motorola HX550. That works pretty darn well, although occasionally the Skyrocket doesn't re-connect unless I hit the headset button.
It's best to leave Cyberon Voice Commander running, don't kill it with the task manager. The first time you use it after re-boot it can take a couple of trys to get it going. Leave it running and it's fine from then on though.

Just so you know, there is no voice dialing app on the Skyrocket in the stock ROM. You have to add it yourself.
ALSO, there are two Cyberon apps, Voice commander and Voice Speed dial. Voice Speed Dial is one you train, and has no confirmation. Voice Commander does not need to be trained, and confirms before dialing. Voice Commander is worth the extra $2...

Thanks so much Nakel this is greatly appreciated. I'm going to give the voice2go a shot first and if it doesn't work out ill buy the voice commander. Ill be sure to report back here with my findings!

OK so as was already stated in the previous thread this isn't exactly what I was looking for. AFAIK this is just the Vlingo app you can get for free in the android market.
It's a decent app I guess but you will NOT be able to initiate a voice dial from your bluetooth headset by pushing the normal buttons.
I can't believe in 2011 Samsung omitted this key feature on a 250 dollar flagship phone. Even the original Moto RAZR from 5+ years ago was able to initiate voice dialing from bluetooth headsets.
This is super inconvenient while driving (and not to mention unsafe!) to have to look down at your phone in order to look up a contact and dial their number. Hopefully this post helps someone thinking about buying the SR but needing this feature!
EDIT: Sorry I forgot to thank Nakel again for posting the attachment though. Thanks!

Ah OK my bad. I guess the skyrocket is just super picky about which BT you use? Because it looks like the guys at PCMag had the same problem I did if you look at the cons in their review of the SR at the top of the page:

Yeah, VERY picky. That's the worst thing about the Skyrocket. If I hadn't found a headset I like that worked well with Voice Commander, I would have returned the Skyrocket.

Yeah this sucks though considering I just shelled out nearly 300 bucks (including tax and upgrade fee) and now I have to spend 50+ bucks on a bt headset just to voice dial when I already have a nice one that works just fine....

Voice Dialing with Fuze

Does anyone know if you can activate voice dialing over bluetooth? I know that there were several hacks that were necessary to get it to work over my 8525.
Thanks!
Yes you can. It's called Voice Commander. It should be on by default. You can say stuff like "call john smith" or "dial 123-4567" pretty cool.
Voice Command with Bluetooth Headset??
I have an old bluetooth headset, but it doesn't seem to work with Voice Command. Does anyone have one working?
Yes, i have used vc with 3 different headsets. One moto, one jawboneII, one plantronics, and one stereo sony brt50 with a2dp. All worked well when pressing the command button on the hs. I've noticed it doesn't work quite well using phone for the command or to answer when cal comes in. The audio drops or doesn't connect.
Hmm, I have an old Moto H505 from work and not only do I not seem to be able to initiate a voice command using the headset, if I do initiate one using the phone I do not hear the response in the headset.
Thanks for letting me know that it is possible....
I had some issues with the stock VC on the ATT ROM. With ROMeOS though it doesn't come with VC (or at least not that I could find) so I added the latest PPC VC (1.6.19214) and it seems to work just fine now (including announcing calls via BT).
I thought that VC in general did not work with bluetooths. This is a limitation of VC not the phone or the bluetooth. On my old mogul, you could get it to initiate the command but not hear your response or confirmation.
Works fine for me with a Jabra BT-135 headset -- giving commands, getting feedback, and answering phone calls all work as expected. The only thing that doesn't work is announcing the name of the caller for incoming calls; all I get is a ring for that. (I have the stock AT&T ROM.)
pre-record for voice dialing?!

That's OK, but what I really want is to record names for each PHONE# foreach contact, like "call Scott CELL" or "call Scott HOME" or "call Josh OFFICE" like I used to do with my HTC MDA w/ WinMo5. Can I do this? I've been searching the phone and forums and this site's postings too... any help?
If you can load the program - it is in the WM 6.0 ROM - it will work with bluetooth devices.

There's no need to do that with voice command. As long as your contacts are stored properly (i.e., a contact's mobile number is stored as mobile, their home number is stored as home, etc) you can just say something like "Call name on mobile", or "Call name at home".
From MS on how to use it:

Thanks Syntrix, Joecd04475 for the help, appreciate it. Not real excited about saying, "Call.. Doe, John... at... Mobile" when I'm used to saying, "John cell", but looks like that's what we got w/ WM6

Well, you can get rid of the "...", at least -- Voice Command, in my experience, seems to be pretty good at deciphering connected speech. And there's no need to invert the names, either (I don't even know if it would work that way). In any event, it doesn't seem a great hardship to say, in a normal speaking cadence, "Call John Doe at work."
You might want to have a look at the German ROM version as there is Cyberon Voice Command included which exactly does what you want. You can record voice commands for each phone number, program, ... on your own. I still think MS Voice Command is more preferable as you do not have the hassle to record voice commands for every contact and so on on your own.

Call John Cell isn't any different then Call John on mobile.
MSVC also allows you to control other aspects of your phone in addition to calling contacts.
Play Metallica
Play Iron Maiden
What time is it?
What is my signal strength?
Ringer vibrate
Ringer off
Ringer high
and a ton more things you can speak also.

Well, on my MS VC the ringer stuff does not work properly with the TP. And controlling the audio player is kinda funny as you have to pronounce the artist's, album's and song's names in a German way So Iron Maiden would have to be pronounced "Eeron My den"

Yes, this is a perfect example of the corporate 'give you *more* of what you don't want' that is difficult to avoid when you're innovative over customer-driven.
Voice Command looks like a very nice feature that will do a lot for me, especially the music options you listed (though I assume that requires I 'play nice' by using playlists, import music through Media Player). It's a large feature that I may become an expert in someday, but a busy week into using my new phone, I just want to dial my most used numbers while driving, and Voice Command simply does not recognise my commands 90% of the time. I have a pretty plain-jane American accent, but VC simply doesn't know what I'm saying.

That's strange; I have been really impressed, with 100% accuracy over the dozen or so times I've used it to call people and dial numbers since I got my Fuze. What is your setup? Are you using it over a Bluetooth headset or via the built-in microphone? (Not sure if that makes a difference, as I've not had any problems either way, but it might be something to try with your phone.) If using the built-in microphone, how far away are you holding the phone when you speak? Is Automatic Gain Control off? (The help file, I think it was, recommended not using AGC.)
Sweet. I had AGC on. I'll switch it off and try out on the drive home.
I'm using a wired headset w/ inline mic, usually great sound quality on the other end (others listening to me) so I figured it should've worked fine. Come to think of it, back when I still used a HTC Wizard, I had AGC off too. Shoot, just realized, maybe the inline mic on my earbud is disabled, maybe I need to hold the phone up to my mouth?
Got so angry trying to get it to recognize me on the drive home, almost threw it out the window. "No, you stupd #%$& I said 'CALL! HOME! AT! HOME!' "
Also, I'm frustrated that my old Wizard 3.5mm headset jack (which played sounds in both ears: double mono for phone calls)---when I use it w/ my Fuze (with USB converter brick) it only plays phone calls AND MUSIC in 1 ear: very vexxing.

MS Voice Command on Diamond 2 or wait for WinMo 6.5 "TellMe"

Is there any possibility to get MSVC working on Diamond 2? I used it on my old O2 XDA Orbit 2 with Bepes Rom. Now I'm interested in to use it on my Diamond 2, or should I wait for official Update on Windows Mobile 6.5 with "TellMe" ?
I managed it, but it does not work and caused a problems (i.e. once connected to BT, it always stays connected).
Working fine on mine through bluetooth, I'm using V1.6.19214 found in a link here on XDA. I don't bother with the call button activation, which can be problematic to get working, as I only need it for voice dialling through my BT headset.
hmm, okay... thanks for the reply...
i just wanted to use it for incoming calls, so that the callers name is outspoken and for simplyfying writing sms...
I think i will wait for "tellme" in wm6.5

Hi,
I've voice command 1.6 in french, and it works nearly amazing fine. I'm not using bluetooth with it, and the only problem is that, sometimes, when I ask 'CALL ... AT HOME', it asks for confirmation, and it does not understand the 'YES' answer. This problem did not happen with version 1.5.
I also disables incoming caller names, because it has a conflict with the ring, and both are not audible (ring distorded, and voice not understandable).
But it tells you the meetings, mails, battery status, next appointements, etc...
Really amazing on a small device. I don't use contacts mamangers anymore for calling : just using voice command. I even work in the car, with the ambiant sound engine, and radio on (not too loud!). Worth the price for 19.95$ (as far as I remember).
regards,
Olivier.
PS: it fails on install because it has not enough hardware button. After install, go in the settings -> buttons and assing it to the only button. Pressing Green key for two seconds, and wait the the beep and microphone icon on notify bar. If you press the button too long, it makes a loud beep to tell you it is cancelled. You can also magic button, or remap the soft keys.
I used to use Cyberon Voice Commander to make a call. I have no idea how come HTC took off this software on Diamond 2...
I have sent the email to Cyberon to ask if there is any possible way to get their Voice Commander. They responded that the software now has retail version for about 10 languages, and they offer the full function 30-day trial on their website. I am using it so far. It works well on my Diamond 2.
Vito
Vito technology has 2 voice command apps. VoiceDialer to simlpy call some1 and Voice2Go to launch apps and cpntacts and so on.
How come there is just one button to assign something to? I would like to use cyberon voice commander via the headphone mic-button.. is there a way to do this, or is it a limitation in td2?

Try the latest version of Cyberon Voice Commander v2.5.2r from Cyberon website http://www.cyberon.com.tw/order_Product_con.php?NO100=15 as Lacerta mentioned .
This version provides "hold Volume-up" or "hold Volume-down" to launch CVC in Setting, as well as you can start it by pressing the button on BT earset.
Per xhaavardx, I downloaded the app from Vito Technology. Works great in the office. Totally useless driving down the road. And I do mean totally. Will not successfully dial a single voice tag I recorded in the parking lot unless I pull off the road and turn off all accessories, even the heater fan.
There was a post on this site somewhere recently stating that someone had converted the app from the old HTC Wizard into a .cab that could be installed on the diamond 2. I can't seem to search that thread out, though. Can any of you guys find it? That thing worked absolutely great!

Tried the Tellme file on my Pure. It works decently while I'm on my wireless network but continually tells me it can't find the network even when it's at full strength on the 3G network. Maybe it's because it was configured to search for Sprint's network, I don't know. I've seen other say they got it to work for them.
Voice Dial for Touch Diamond 2
Hello, All:
Concerning voice dial for the Touch Diamond 2, I found Cyberon Voice Dial on this bulletin board in a thread somewhere, but, regretfully, I can't find it back. IF you can find it, it is DA BOMB!! Yeah, you have to record the voice tags, but it works great in noisy environments and almost never makes a mistake. I don't use BT with the new phone, but Cyberon worked great with the BT on my old Wizard. Whatever you do, don't pay for Vito Voice Dial. It is truly unserviceable in any situation with even moderate noise.
Good Luck! Hope this helps.

I believe the network issue is specific to AT&T from what I have read. No fix for this yet.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing

Has anyone had success with voice dialing over Bluetooth? I have the Motorola Finity headset which worked great with the Motorola Atrix but it doesn't seem to work for voice dialing on the Infuse. I had the Captivate before and voice dialing didn't work until some of the later custom ROMs started to implement it, so maybe it's a Samsung thing.
From what I've heard is the same way. No BT voice dial.

it works if you install Cyberon Voice commander
there are market apps that work but many drain battery fast. it is better to have it from the manufacturer
i wish i could tell you how to set it up but i never use it so i never looked into it. many of the sgs apks will work on this so you may not need to wait that long.
voice speed dial app works great.

Voice dialing issues

I upgraded to One S from MyTouch 4G, and noticed the following issues with voice dialing:
1. I used to use the dedicated button on MT4G. On 1S, when I try to use the google search "microphone" button, it has terrible voice recognition. Vlingo works much better than stock functionality.
2. As mentioned in PC mag review, voice dialing via blue tooth is missing. The only workaround is through a third party app. As someone suggested, I installed Vlingo, and using its "in car" method, it seems to work fine.
Are there any other build in google apps/tools that may improve voice recognition/voice dialing?
What other apps do people use for voice control/voice dial?
Thanks.
Bluetooth voice dialing is not working for me either. Pressing the connect button on my BT device does not launch the BT voice recognition like it should.
This was also an issue on the Nexus One for months when it was initially released - I don't know how HTC did not recognize this problem during testing.
I wish I had an answer for you, but I just wanted to say thanks for the Vlingo suggestion, that's what I'm using for now.
You welcome. While I like One S overall, the voice control/recognition options are a step back compared to MyTouch 4G.

Bluetooth Voice Dialing - Working!!

I have found the following to get Bluetooth voice dialing woking:
Install Cyberon Voice Commander from the market. (Yes it is a paid app $5.99)
They do have a 48 hour refund policy.
The only function lacking is dialing a number digit by digit "Call 321-555-3232"
will not work, only contacts, but also can open apps, and a few other features.
Follow the instructions closely on installing and un-pairing/re-pairing your headset.
Press the voice dial button on your headset. If it does not work, and I had to do this, install Vlingo from the market(free).
Press the voice dial button on your headset, you should now get a menu on your screen as to which app to use for voice dialing, select Cyberon Voice Commander.
It should work from that point on.
EDIT: I am using a jawbone Era. You may need to login to Jawbone's Mytalk and reset the button for the voice dialing function. I have been running it now for 3 days without any problems.
For those with Jawbone ERAs don't bother . . just tried this and will now have to work with the developer to get my refund since I wen't past the 15-minute mark just trying out the various dial-apps on the Jawbone to test compatibility.
No matter what dial-apps on the Jawbone ERA itself you're using or what apps you have installed on the One X end the phone completely ignores headset button presses other than picking up incoming calls or hanging up a call. For the ERA anyway I suspect that Jawbone's own dial-apps feature is what keeps the headset from being fully compatible with this phone/ICS.
i also have the jawbone era and found the same problem. the cyberon voice commander developer was very prompt in refunding. i may try later with another headset, but am not really hopeful that voice dialing using a bluetooth headset will work seamlessly. of course my opinion is that one should be able to use it without having to touch the phone at all.
If you guys want, I have this voicetogo app from my now sold galaxy note. It works but I haven't tried with Bluetooth yet.

The link is from ny drop box account, the app is great , opens apps, digit dial, contact dial, all work.

Cool app.
Update: Uninstalled other voice assistant apps like Cyberon and rebooted the One X. The voice command apk posted above now works for me. Not sure but when I initially installed it yesterday I didn't reboot the phone, probably should have. I don't think the application is fully compatible with the phone, it crashes sometimes but overall it does work and I'm satisfied for now until something better comes along.
