Voice Dialing with Fuze - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Does anyone know if you can activate voice dialing over bluetooth? I know that there were several hacks that were necessary to get it to work over my 8525.
Thanks!

Yes you can. It's called Voice Commander. It should be on by default. You can say stuff like "call john smith" or "dial 123-4567" pretty cool.

Voice Command with Bluetooth Headset??
I have an old bluetooth headset, but it doesn't seem to work with Voice Command. Does anyone have one working?

Yes, i have used vc with 3 different headsets. One moto, one jawboneII, one plantronics, and one stereo sony brt50 with a2dp. All worked well when pressing the command button on the hs. I've noticed it doesn't work quite well using phone for the command or to answer when cal comes in. The audio drops or doesn't connect.

Hmm, I have an old Moto H505 from work and not only do I not seem to be able to initiate a voice command using the headset, if I do initiate one using the phone I do not hear the response in the headset.
Thanks for letting me know that it is possible....

I had some issues with the stock VC on the ATT ROM. With ROMeOS though it doesn't come with VC (or at least not that I could find) so I added the latest PPC VC (1.6.19214) and it seems to work just fine now (including announcing calls via BT).

I thought that VC in general did not work with bluetooths. This is a limitation of VC not the phone or the bluetooth. On my old mogul, you could get it to initiate the command but not hear your response or confirmation.

Works fine for me with a Jabra BT-135 headset -- giving commands, getting feedback, and answering phone calls all work as expected. The only thing that doesn't work is announcing the name of the caller for incoming calls; all I get is a ring for that. (I have the stock AT&T ROM.)

pre-record for voice dialing?!

That's OK, but what I really want is to record names for each PHONE# foreach contact, like "call Scott CELL" or "call Scott HOME" or "call Josh OFFICE" like I used to do with my HTC MDA w/ WinMo5. Can I do this? I've been searching the phone and forums and this site's postings too... any help?

If you can load the program - it is in the WM 6.0 ROM - it will work with bluetooth devices.

There's no need to do that with voice command. As long as your contacts are stored properly (i.e., a contact's mobile number is stored as mobile, their home number is stored as home, etc) you can just say something like "Call name on mobile", or "Call name at home".

From MS on how to use it:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/more/voice-command-tutorials.mspx

Thanks Syntrix, Joecd04475 for the help, appreciate it. Not real excited about saying, "Call.. Doe, John... at... Mobile" when I'm used to saying, "John cell", but looks like that's what we got w/ WM6

Well, you can get rid of the "...", at least -- Voice Command, in my experience, seems to be pretty good at deciphering connected speech. And there's no need to invert the names, either (I don't even know if it would work that way). In any event, it doesn't seem a great hardship to say, in a normal speaking cadence, "Call John Doe at work."

You might want to have a look at the German ROM version as there is Cyberon Voice Command included which exactly does what you want. You can record voice commands for each phone number, program, ... on your own. I still think MS Voice Command is more preferable as you do not have the hassle to record voice commands for every contact and so on on your own.

Call John Cell isn't any different then Call John on mobile.
MSVC also allows you to control other aspects of your phone in addition to calling contacts.
Play Metallica
Play Iron Maiden
What time is it?
What is my signal strength?
Ringer vibrate
Ringer off
Ringer high
and a ton more things you can speak also.

Well, on my MS VC the ringer stuff does not work properly with the TP. And controlling the audio player is kinda funny as you have to pronounce the artist's, album's and song's names in a German way So Iron Maiden would have to be pronounced "Eeron My den"

Yes, this is a perfect example of the corporate 'give you *more* of what you don't want' that is difficult to avoid when you're innovative over customer-driven.
Voice Command looks like a very nice feature that will do a lot for me, especially the music options you listed (though I assume that requires I 'play nice' by using playlists, import music through Media Player). It's a large feature that I may become an expert in someday, but a busy week into using my new phone, I just want to dial my most used numbers while driving, and Voice Command simply does not recognise my commands 90% of the time. I have a pretty plain-jane American accent, but VC simply doesn't know what I'm saying.

That's strange; I have been really impressed, with 100% accuracy over the dozen or so times I've used it to call people and dial numbers since I got my Fuze. What is your setup? Are you using it over a Bluetooth headset or via the built-in microphone? (Not sure if that makes a difference, as I've not had any problems either way, but it might be something to try with your phone.) If using the built-in microphone, how far away are you holding the phone when you speak? Is Automatic Gain Control off? (The help file, I think it was, recommended not using AGC.)

Sweet. I had AGC on. I'll switch it off and try out on the drive home.
I'm using a wired headset w/ inline mic, usually great sound quality on the other end (others listening to me) so I figured it should've worked fine. Come to think of it, back when I still used a HTC Wizard, I had AGC off too. Shoot, just realized, maybe the inline mic on my earbud is disabled, maybe I need to hold the phone up to my mouth?
Got so angry trying to get it to recognize me on the drive home, almost threw it out the window. "No, you stupd #%$& I said 'CALL! HOME! AT! HOME!' "
Also, I'm frustrated that my old Wizard 3.5mm headset jack (which played sounds in both ears: double mono for phone calls)---when I use it w/ my Fuze (with USB converter brick) it only plays phone calls AND MUSIC in 1 ear: very vexxing.

True Mobility . . . the quest to get there

Hey guys. I'm posting my quest to true mobility and hoping some of you can comment or give some advice.
Even before I purchased the XDA II, I have wanted to become completely mobile with my wireless communicastions. I want to put a headset on and control everything with my voice. Though we're not quite there yet, here's what I am going for.
First accesory is the Jabra BT250 Headset. It works great with my XDA II. I have the Tmo rom. I have customized all my contacts with personal rings. I downloaded a program that reads text. Now whenever someone calls, Microsoft Mary via my XDA II, then via my headset says "You have an incoming call from ____." I wish there was a piece of software that could do this for me. All I want it to do is tell me someone is calling and read the person's name. MS Voice Command does a pretty decent job reading names, but there is not way to get it to announce calls. My method of producing a .wav for every contact works, but it's a pain to do, and you constantly have to make new files for new contacts. But most importantly though, this method makes it possible for me be know who is calling without touching my device. I dont' even have to touch it to answer as my headset has an answer button on it. This is the best I can come up with so far. If anyone has any sugguestions or can comment, please do so.
Next thing I want to do is to be able to dial calls via my headset. Jabra says in the manual the headset supports voice dialing on regular phones, but I don't think this complies with the XDA II. I spent a little time trying to get it to work, but I can't get MS Voice Command to hear me via the headset. Moreover, I would like to be able to listen to media playng on my device via the headset. I want to be able to create a connection or to make it think it has to be on because there is a "call" in order to let me use it like a regular, wired headset. Maybe there is software for this, I havn't found it though.
I also want my XDA II to read me my SMS messages when they come in. Pref. over my headset. I also want to to drive my car, give me my haircut, shovel the snow. Those are future projects though.

Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 + BT Headset = Doesn't work!

Hello,
I have Voice Command 1.6 installed on my phone and when I use my headset to initiate the voice command stuff, I get stuck with the crappy Voice Tag software.
This worked perfectly for my Wizard; I just had to change the voice command button to run MS Voice Command and not the Voice Tag stuff. But... I can't, for the life of me, figure it out on this phone! Anyone have ideas? Thanks in advance!
mine works fine. here are my settings
voice enabled--yes
voice button--record
availability--password protected
announcement routing--bluetooth only
not saying that this is the only way for it to work, just that mine works and these are the settings i am using. try to turn on your headset, but activate the voice dial from the phone first by holding down the voice recorder button for 1-2 seconds. after you use it successfully, try to initiate a call from your bluetooth headset. other than that, i am out of thoughts. good luck
Somebody close this thread because I'm retarded as all hell. Sometimes simply rebooting the phone is the best solution. I made sure your settings matched mine and rebooted. What do you know? It works! ^_^ Thanks, guy!

Unfortunately, mine does it for appointments and text messages/email (you can set it to announce all of them or only high-priority ones) as well -- the ringtone plays in the headset but no calls get announced, even though it's configured to do that. I really miss that...

There's a cab listed somewhere around here for the MSVC1.6 install that doesn't require any file changing. It just works. Of course you do need to soft reset after the install to get to the VC settings so you can turn on call announce. You'll probably also want to change your button mappings. The cab remaps the PIE button by default.

I didn't have to use a cab with Dutty's 6.1 just changed the Settings in Voice Command to Announce Calls and SR and poof it worked. No swapping of files or reg hacks needed. I did have to do it with all the 6.0 roms however.

It's working for me EXCEPT that it doesn't announce incoming calls. I have the Jawbone BT earpiece that's excellent as far as reception and vocal quality. The BT earpiece rings as normal, but there's no voice letting me know there's a call coming in. I have the AT&T Tilt.
Any ideas what could be wrong? I have the VC settings set to "Announce thought the Bluetooth only" so that I make sure it's correct.
I wonder if it's an AT&T thing? Hopefully not since I can announce the outgoing call name and it works fine.
I'm confused...

Go into MSVC and select PHONE > OPTIONS > Announce Incoming Calls. This is where most people have problems. They don't realize you can highlight the item beside the check box and, in some cases, the OPTIONS box will be selectable. This also works for the Calendar to announce reminders.
thanks. I did some soft resers and it started to respond with announcing calls.... depending....
If I don't have the phone on "ring", the calls won't be announced. I can hear the BT earpiece become activated, but no call is announced. BUT, if I turn the ringer ON, then I can hear the announcement through the BT. I have set it to announce via BT only. When I am in meetings, I really don't want my phone to ring, but would still like to hear the call announced. When I downloaded this from Microsoft, I was told that it would still "whisper" the call. Well it's whispering too darn low! Like none at all!
Any ideas?

Have an sound file that is quiet. Switch to the quiet sound file for the ringer while in meetings. The announcement will come over your headset just fine. The only problem is when you have a contact with their own ring tone set.
Works for me. MSVC is just great for me. Voice commander is too flakey and depends on your pitch.
good luck!

Thanks for any and all help.
If you've chosen to have calls announced over BT only, then it will only ring thru you BT headset and NOT the device speaker. It is true that setting your ringer to vibrate doesn't work, but you shouldn't have to do this if your BT headset is turned on since there shouldn't be any sound coming from the device speaker.

Thanks, I will try that setting. But the reason I turned it off was because it rang out loud. I'll turn the settings back on and try that with someone calling me OUT of a meeting. Next, should it announce the incoming text messages as well? I notice that this doesn't happen.

Hi all,
I ame looking for that stuff too.
I have the thuffir V6b rom and MSVC 1.60.4622
It was working fine on IPAQ 6915 WM5; but with the Kayser WM6.0 rom I don't have the call annoncement working (through speaker as well as bt).
I tried some file replacement, but MSVC refuse to start after all; I need to reinstall it!
The big thing is that I use a frech MSVC!!!!
Anybody has a clue to make it work?!
Or, if it is supposed to work with a WM6.1, which 6.1 french rom can I install?
VC 1.6 using a headset
Voice command's announcements are dependent on the announcements volume, not the ringer volume (the two options when you click on the sound icon on the top bar). Therefore, if you don't want it to ring but do want the announcement, set the ringer to "vibrate" in the phone options but leave the announcements volume on - instead of selecting "Vibrate" on the sound icon.
This works great for me in the office environment. I also use the Notification Option: Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available" to provide the ringtone when I am driving or otherwise have the ringer set to "Ring" in the phone options, and I get both the custom ringtone (if set) and the caller's name announced.

MS Voice Command on Diamond 2 or wait for WinMo 6.5 "TellMe"

Is there any possibility to get MSVC working on Diamond 2? I used it on my old O2 XDA Orbit 2 with Bepes Rom. Now I'm interested in to use it on my Diamond 2, or should I wait for official Update on Windows Mobile 6.5 with "TellMe" ?
I managed it, but it does not work and caused a problems (i.e. once connected to BT, it always stays connected).
Working fine on mine through bluetooth, I'm using V1.6.19214 found in a link here on XDA. I don't bother with the call button activation, which can be problematic to get working, as I only need it for voice dialling through my BT headset.
hmm, okay... thanks for the reply...
i just wanted to use it for incoming calls, so that the callers name is outspoken and for simplyfying writing sms...
I think i will wait for "tellme" in wm6.5

Hi,
I've voice command 1.6 in french, and it works nearly amazing fine. I'm not using bluetooth with it, and the only problem is that, sometimes, when I ask 'CALL ... AT HOME', it asks for confirmation, and it does not understand the 'YES' answer. This problem did not happen with version 1.5.
I also disables incoming caller names, because it has a conflict with the ring, and both are not audible (ring distorded, and voice not understandable).
But it tells you the meetings, mails, battery status, next appointements, etc...
Really amazing on a small device. I don't use contacts mamangers anymore for calling : just using voice command. I even work in the car, with the ambiant sound engine, and radio on (not too loud!). Worth the price for 19.95$ (as far as I remember).
regards,
Olivier.
PS: it fails on install because it has not enough hardware button. After install, go in the settings -> buttons and assing it to the only button. Pressing Green key for two seconds, and wait the the beep and microphone icon on notify bar. If you press the button too long, it makes a loud beep to tell you it is cancelled. You can also magic button, or remap the soft keys.
I used to use Cyberon Voice Commander to make a call. I have no idea how come HTC took off this software on Diamond 2...
I have sent the email to Cyberon to ask if there is any possible way to get their Voice Commander. They responded that the software now has retail version for about 10 languages, and they offer the full function 30-day trial on their website. I am using it so far. It works well on my Diamond 2.

Vito technology has 2 voice command apps. VoiceDialer to simlpy call some1 and Voice2Go to launch apps and cpntacts and so on.
How come there is just one button to assign something to? I would like to use cyberon voice commander via the headphone mic-button.. is there a way to do this, or is it a limitation in td2?

Try the latest version of Cyberon Voice Commander v2.5.2r from Cyberon website http://www.cyberon.com.tw/order_Product_con.php?NO100=15 as Lacerta mentioned .
This version provides "hold Volume-up" or "hold Volume-down" to launch CVC in Setting, as well as you can start it by pressing the button on BT earset.
Per xhaavardx, I downloaded the app from Vito Technology. Works great in the office. Totally useless driving down the road. And I do mean totally. Will not successfully dial a single voice tag I recorded in the parking lot unless I pull off the road and turn off all accessories, even the heater fan.
There was a post on this site somewhere recently stating that someone had converted the app from the old HTC Wizard into a .cab that could be installed on the diamond 2. I can't seem to search that thread out, though. Can any of you guys find it? That thing worked absolutely great!

Tried the Tellme file on my Pure. It works decently while I'm on my wireless network but continually tells me it can't find the network even when it's at full strength on the 3G network. Maybe it's because it was configured to search for Sprint's network, I don't know. I've seen other say they got it to work for them.
Voice Dial for Touch Diamond 2
Hello, All:
Concerning voice dial for the Touch Diamond 2, I found Cyberon Voice Dial on this bulletin board in a thread somewhere, but, regretfully, I can't find it back. IF you can find it, it is DA BOMB!! Yeah, you have to record the voice tags, but it works great in noisy environments and almost never makes a mistake. I don't use BT with the new phone, but Cyberon worked great with the BT on my old Wizard. Whatever you do, don't pay for Vito Voice Dial. It is truly unserviceable in any situation with even moderate noise.
Good Luck! Hope this helps.

Hey I have got same problem, I tried MS Voice, but its no got, wasted my money.
Ive just tried Microsoft Voice Command 1.6. The voice is naff. All I want it to do is say the callers name, Nothing else. Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 say "Call from xxx at home from Vodafone" or something along those lines, I couldn't quite make all of it out. Its bobar!
voice command hasn't worked properly for a while. once upon a time it used trip announce incoming caller..theres a guy trying to get it working in dev and hacking.check out his thread for more details.
one option is to record the most common callers you have as a voice tag, mp3 or whatever, then assign each one as a ringtone., lot ofwork though..
