[Q] Ace Hack It Question Im STUCK!! - HTC Inspire 4G

Ok, so I followed all steps in the manual, installed drivers, unistalled htc sync, formatted my sd card nd no luck.
Once I start the program, It says:
check adb connectivity
*server not running*
then cuts off and says enter passkey.
I tried RTEM
I copy and pasted the whole code as well, no luck.
I stopped programs that werent needed,
Is there maybe a list of programs i need to stop??
Am i missing a step?

Did you go to the irc like the thread suggests?

I suggest trying the Ubuntu method. I wrote a short manual here.

It was so simple doing this way.

If you don't even get past the enter passkey screen, then you are not entering the right key. It is generated only after you run hackace. It places it in a file. The link to the file doesn't always work but there are more ways than just clicking on a link to get it to work. If you were entering the right key you would either go to the main screen or if it wasn't going to work it would give you an error screen. If it just says nice try then you need to find that key. It's easier than you think. I promise.

It is not a hard process. Just involves basic reading, basic, computer skills, and some common sense. If your still stuck PLEASE re-read the OP of the hack kit thread to find out where the irc chat is (as zelendel as said already) . Attn1 is usually very happy to help as long as you have read.
I got your 10 char right here

If the link doesn't pop up, try opening the effen manual and place the mouse cursor over the words cajun.txt and look down in the status bar. It will give you the location of the this txt file that contains the passkey. Then just manually go to that location, open with notepad, and copy and paste from there. This worked for me with IE, not sure it will with other browsers.

Help, inspire stuck on flashing radio in hack kit
Flashing hack kit, everything fine until flashing radio 95, been stuck there for an hour. Any suggestions?

Read, read more, then if you still have problems, IRC.
Ze, shut it down.

Ok, shut it down. Now phone comes on and has htc in center of screen with triangles in each corner but only while its plugged in.
Unplugged, it says:

How do you use the irc? I've gone and don't understand how to get help...

Nickname is what you want to be known as on that channel. Think of a channel as a chat room. Once you are logged in, the bar to type in is at the bottom.
The Ubuntu method is probably the easiest way, imo.

Rude people.....
You know, people come here for help.. I am one of them...but how many needing help said screw it and left after reading posts and replies like this one.. FYI, we are not all idiots. Many of us have read the manual over and over. We don't need idiots telling us to read the manual.. If you feel the absolute NEED to say that to someone, then say it follwed by actually HELPING THEM!! Else, seriously, DON'T REPLY TO THEM!!! You really look like a total ass to the rest of us. And those of you that post it after 5 others already posted it... You just look like a moron that wants to get posting numbers up. I run forums, and have seen this many times... I usually reset their numbers or delete their accounts for being a jerk.
I have watched probably 30 videos of how to use the ACE hack kit....and NOTHING works.. But if I post a question, I will be degraded as some ignorant idiot that can't read or comprehend simple computer stuff.. Well, I have built computers for almost 30 years. I have been a programmer and had game of the year on the very first game I wrote back in 1985 for TI. I have been doing tech support for software companies and computer companies for almost 25 years. I also do manual writing for several large companies, including computer companies and software companies.. Think I may be qualified... Oh, and I have 2 degrees in electrical and aeronautical engineering.. So comprehension and application, not a problem...
I will not go into all I have done to prep for running hack ace... I did it all.. The computer is running win 7. Has 16gb memory and I7-2600k running at 4.4ghz, 23TB (you read that right) drive space.
One thing I wondered about, could a problem be that my USB ports are v3 ports... They are backward compatible..but I wondered if that may be the culprit of my problem..
I run the hack-ace.cmd program and it gets to:
Check adb connectivity
shad0wfox 04/2011
Then it sits for 5-10 mintues and then:
ADB server didn't ACK
* failed to start daemon *
error: cannot connect to daemon
ADB server didn't ACK
* failed to start daemon *
error: cannot connect to daemon
Then it quits.. after another 10 minutes or so..
Any help would be appreciated greatly.. Unless you wish to tell me to read the manual...then you can just blow.

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I checked the thread briefly and don't see why you got all heated up. Perhaps you read a few threads too many..? (Rhetorical Q.).
Don't worry, there are a few around that may be able to help, I just don't get where you are coming from. No matter, and not need to reply, you already 'blew me'
Edit: the only thing I can think of is to uninstall and install again the drivers.
2nd edit: have you tried using an ubuntu live cd? For some odd reason I have a feeling it would only work with the 10.14 version and not the later ones. Others have reported problems with those and I myself had problems with the 11.whatever. but back then I had no idea what I was doing.

Greg, first you should have gone to the IRC Channel the hack kit keeps for support...you will get help there unless u ask something that is covered in the manual. Second, you are having connectivity issues for certain. The Hack Kit does not work with 3.0 usb ports so try using 2.0...yours seems to be an adb issue. Make sure that the adb.exe is correctly installed. Check the md5sum of the Hack Kit to make sure that is not corrupted...and of course try different ports.
If you can't sort it out in windows try the latest LTS ubuntu version (32bit). That will probably fix the problem. If not hit the IRC channel in my signature and we will lend u a hand.
Last, don't get mad at the guys here..you gotta understand that this is a Dev's forum and many of the questions have already been answered more that a couple of times and usually are covered in the manual, thou not all of them....:good:

Not everyone uses IRC... So why help can't be given via a forum is beyond me.. Just sayin... There is always yahoo, google+, AIM, MSN..many chat applications out there that don't require IRC.. BTW, I used to run IRC channels for years.. Just so over the losers that seemed to take over MOST channels... Never been on yours, so that was not toward you..just my experience with what IRC became over the years.. And why I don't use it anymore..
My hack kit is correct as per the check sum.. I hooked up a usb 2.0 port and it's working fine. I have a couple USB 2.0 external drives, and they are working great with it. Thanks for that suggestion.. I will look into the adb.exe issue...
I keep getting different messages when running the app.. so maybe I will break my 3 year hiatus and jump on IRC.. LOL And no, I wouldn't ask anything from the manual.. What really sucks, is that I can NOT be the only person to ever have this issue..yet all the videos on how to do it, all the manuals, and all the posts on sites... People talk about step by step on how to do it...IF it all works flawlessly...but no one ever says...NOW, IF YOU HAPPEN TO GET STUCK HERE....THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD TRY OR CHECK ON... That would have been nice in any one of the 100 vids I have watched so far.. LOL

[Q] I'm a noob

So as you all can tell....I'm new to this forum and to the Android platform as well. I just switched from my Iphone to the Galaxy S 4g and it has been great so far! After doing a little research myself I was able to root the phone via superoneclick. As I was reading further into the certain roms that are out and things I could do to further enhance my phone, I decided to get the new gingerbread 2.3.3. I used the program called Odin 1.7 to flash rom and besides from the known "rainbow screen issue and the low wifi signal" it is running smooth. I was just curious on what these programs called adb, cwm(clockwork mods I believe), and cyanogen7? are used for and how? I apologize for my noobness for asking these questions but I just feel like a kid in a candy store with no cash to spend hahah. If someone can redirect me to some links that can get me a general idea of how the Android software and mods work that would be great!!!
I remember signing up for these forums and not actually using them 'cause I was reading and trying to catch up with the vast amount of info available here... It was overwhelming to say the least.
ADB is the Android Debug Bridge. If you've ever used the command prompt, it's essentially the same. You type in commands and they get executed on the phone. I still argue that you get more power and flexibility through text-based programs, which ADB will let you use. You can use ADB if you use your phone to go into Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging (check the box next to it) then you can hook up your phone to the computer and run the ADB server on the computer. If you have superoneclick, it should've come with the ADB server as part of the tools.
CWM is a recovery mod, it sits on top of the phone's standard recovery program and gives you more power than the default one. You can make complete and partial backups of your phone's data in case you're flashing roms constantly and something goes wrong. You won't be able to use CWM with gingerbread at this moment since there's no support for it, but if you downgrade to Froyo, you'll be able to.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099374
Cyanogen Mod isn't available for our phone yet, but it's a popular rom on the phones on which it is available.
Have fun!
EDIT:
You should probably bookmark the bible, lots of good references there:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117554
welcome to the forum! glad everything works well for you on the first time flashing gingerbread. you can read up on everything in the bible thread below:

check out the guides and it should give you a pretty good feel on everything.
Welcome to XDA!
First of all, kudos to the fact that you're brand new and you've already learned to ODIN gingerbread yourself.
ADB is a way of transferring and editing files on your phone.
It's very useful for editing system files, etc.
Not really necessary for you to know right now.
CWM, or ClockWorkMod, is an easy way for you to change your phone theme, apply a ROM (a combination of themes, or modifications), or flash tweaks. Right now, Gingerbread doesn't have CWM but it should be coming in the near future.
For the basics and a few tutorials, look for the GS4G bible, and also look at my tiny little guide, here.

You honestly don't really need ADB if you have Root Explorer, or QuickSSH'd (which I love).
If you do end up getting QuickSSH'd I'd be glad to help you use it.

If you don't wanna pay for QuickSSHd you can also get SSHDroid
https://market.android.com/details?id=berserker.android.apps.sshdroid
You install the app on your phone, then you can get a program on your computer that supports SSH
Putty
WinSCP
Tunnelier
I prefer Putty for running commands and Tunnelier for transferring files. When you run SSHDroid, it'll explain to you how to use it.

[Q] What is this symbol in Notification bar?

See the symbol between the wifi and the bars on the attached screen shot?
What does it mean?
Vibration ring

I love when people start threads like this asking what a symbol means. 99.99999% of the time the answer is in the user manual and it would probably be easier to just look it up rather than start a thread. Just saying.

inb4 moved to Q&A lol
and yes it was completely unnecessary to start a thread about this, you can even google notification symbols for phones... however in the OP's defense who reads the manual
Well, sorry! I will pay more attention to the thread titles before I post next time. I most likely was brain dead when I asked this question because I spend the entire day Googling/studying how to make Astro SMB work on my phone. I downloaded several other apps that were supposed to do the same thing to no avail.
I messed with my phone and computer so much yesterday trying to get it to work that when I saw that symbol I thought I screwed something up, because before it showed up, I was able to connect to the computer and see some of the shared folders on my computer but only the Default User and the Guest Folder which were empty.
I placed one music file in the Default Music folder and saw it on my phone, but when I tried to play it, Astro said, "Astro does not support opening remote files at this time". I got the same answer from the app AndSMB. So what is the use of the function if you can not open the files and listen/look to/at them?
The way I got the phone to finally see the files was by changing the Firewall, AVG from Small Home and Office to Allow all.
But then I ran out of Download/internet from Hughes Net and hooked my phone to the computer to tether. When I unplugged the phone from that operation, the SMB thing would not work in either App.
Yesterday was the first day Google has ever failed me in trying to figure out something, there is absolutely nothing out there about SMB or file sharing that helped me figure out how to make it work. Even Microsoft's page about how to setup an network referred to things that were not on my computer as well as the Help and support files on this computer.
So I did try to figure out how to do what I wanted all by myself, and after a day of failure/frustration I panicked when I saw that symbol.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Android Rom and Banking Fraud?

Hello to all,
first of all forgive me if i am in the wrong forum. Second I am not an authority with ROMs and developing. I can flash a new ROM and follow guidance easily but that's it. Up to that.
I will tell you my scary experience with a specific rom which i installed a couple of days ago on my S3. First off all this post is not suppose to be rude to anyone or anything. I am telling you my story and I would appreciate your input as you are the experts.
3 days ago I installed the MIUI (http://miuiandroid.com/community) ROM on my S3.
As soon as I turned the phone on to run it for the first time I went to the typical set ups but then I noticed something.
On he top right corner of the status bar the a green phone icon appeared meaning that the phone was automatically set on "Call-diverting" .I dint pay any attention for about 30 mins as I was setting up the phone.
When I decided to see what the icon does to my sock and horror I realised that my phone was pre setted to call diverting automatically to a specific mobile number in the UK.
I quickly disabled the call diverting and dint think anything more. All of that happened around 12:30 in the afternoon (pay real attention to the times here).
about 10 minutes later I was at the office. around 2 hours after that I got a text message from my Bank to call them about a suspicious money transfer.
I called the bank and the told me that a few minutes earlier someone attempted to transfer 2000 pounds from my account. Of course my on-line banking was frozen and I was lucky not to loose the money.
Now, during these two hours my phone never rang just the text message from my bank. The bank security employee told me that it looked suspicious to them because whoever was trying to transfer the money asked for the 4 digit number via the automated bank security system to be diverted to another mobile number. The bank advised me to call my mobile carrier as I did.
The mobile carrier , when i talked to him, confirmed that someone called them and accessed my account by giving them all the right info, and requested that every time my phone was out of coverage all calls to be directed to another mobile!
have you guess what was the other mobile?? It was exactly the same mobile number as the pre-set on the ROM which I had installed 3 hours earlier!
And my bank confirmed that the same mobile was used in order to get the 4 digit pin.
I was shocked to say the least!!
When after a few minutes I managed to talk to my girlfriend , she told me that she was calling me earlier for about an hour. These phone calls never made it to my phone. As the phone was pre-setted to call diverting it was ringing to the diverted phone and not mine.
It is obvious that as I do mobile on-line banking and I access my accounts from my mobile (as many do), somehow they managed to get all the information about me and I am suspecting dodgy applications on my phone. I hope I am wrong but this experience has really shocked me.
I love android phones I love what you developers do but I am after you opinion in this one.
I am not here to offend any developers but to have a genuine answer and a sensible discussion about this issue. I am not a kid I am professional and this experience has really made me think twice about smart phones.

i think you're right, it wasn't the rom but some malware-/spyware-app.
assuming your phone was rooted, it would be easy for an app to do all kind of bad stuff once it got root-privileges, eg hiding on your sdcard and spying your data and after that establishing the call-divert to catch the 4digit-pin and the rest would be history.
only thing you could do is think what questionable apps with root privileges you installed in the last days before this happened, try to get a copy of it and have a closer look on it, maybe installing it without a simcard inserted or with a simcard without charge on it, to see what happens...
a big piece of luck would be some kind of log from about 1230h to see what established the call-divert, but if i would do such app i would ensure to delete all logs with traces afterwards, but who knows?
though, all of that are just the ideas that came to my mind as i read your post...
good luck for the investigation, would be interesting to know if you could get any information about what happened, so keep us updated, ok?

It would be difficult for me to know which custom ROM is safe and which one is not! I am not an expert you see. And the same goes with apps. I don't think anyone can state with certainty that any are safe.
It is just shocking to know how easy it is for your details to "escape" !
I will keep you informed about how this goes.
jowett69 If you can tell me how to get that log you are talking about, that would be great.
In the meantime can anyone advise on a descent mobile data protection application? something which will prevent any sensitive data from leaking from my phone? Payware or freeware I don't mind.
some ideas

A start might be to check the Superuser app and click on Log and see what apps received su permissions.
Also, from a cmd prompt you can enumerate all the running processes by running:
Code:
adb shell "busybox ps -A > /mnt/sdcard/process.log"
adb pull /mnt/sdcard/process.log
View process.log for anything suspicious, or post it up and I'll have a look.

I don't think I could do that my friend. As soon as I suspected that something with that ROM was wrong I performed a full wipe and installed omega 9.1 rom.
My question is this. By performing a full wipe should really erase any malware from the previous installation right? Can anyone advise on a descent antivirus/firewall application which will help me (and others like me) monitor and "block" unusual application behavior?
oh and one more question for my information...sensitive personal data can only be leaked when the device is rooted ? if it is not rooted am I safe?

did you wipe your internal and external sdcards too? how did you wipe? cause it depends where the malware was hiding, if it is erased now or not.
a simple, yet powerful firewall is droidwall. you can find it in the market. put it in whitelist-mode and allow only the stuff you know. but droidwall controlls "only" internet-connections (wifi and 3g or such). for full controll over every permission of every app and connection of your phone you sohuld use pdroid, but i don't know if that's really necessary, though i understand your fear. but if someone really wants to harm you and has some knowledge, there are always ways, i think...

not really, think of those apps you can use to root your device. think a bit further and one could make an app that roots your device and afterwards does the stuff it wants. but seriously, though it is possible, who would do that to you? that's what you should think about...
greetz,
sUsH
ps: cause you did a wipe, there's no possibilty of going through some logs, sry. (though this too depends on the way you wiped and what exactly you wiped...)
I did a full wipe to install the new rom...wipe cache data ...devlink and one more but cant remember it

sry, then your try to get rid of the problem also got rid of possible evidence. just try to forget it and be more careful in future with suspicious apps from questionable sources and similar.

[Q] I've searched. I swear! I suck.

I've been searching all $*#(&$# day. Please be kind. I'm about to cry.
I bought my Samsung Galaxy S 4g when they first came out. I rooted because I heard I could delete the "bloat" and regain disk space. I had no trouble rooting, but my phone has never worked right and I'm ALWAYS getting out of disk space messages, even though I've moved every possible app to the SD card. At some point I lost the ability to send or receive picture text messages so I went hunting online. I don't remember the steps I took or how I took them, but somehow I changed the model of my phone to say HTC Vision. It was on recommendation from someone somewhere, but it was over a year ago and I can't find the thread I originally read.
Fast forward to now. I got the out of disk space error AGAIN, so I used Titanium Backup to delete some stuff. Yes, I'm a dumbass and I must have deleted something that looked unimportant, but WAS. Now both email and text messaging crashes. I can receive a text, but messaging crashes before I can reply. I can make and receive calls.
I've been looking for a day and a half to try to find a stock rom with instructions to "flash" back to factory settings. (I put these terms in quotes because, while I've seen them everywhere, I really don't know what they mean). I've downloaded the updated Kies program, but it won't recognize my phone. Possibly because it thinks it's an HTC Vision? I've also installed Odin in preparation for reinstalling the stock rom. I keep hitting a wall whenever I find a link to what I think is a stock rom - I get a stupid ilivid link and nothing else. I've avoided installing ilivid, but I went ahead and installed it to try to get the rom. I don't know what else to do.
I'm sorry this is so long. My level of proficiency is just enough to get myself into a lot of trouble with no knowledge to get myself out. Can anyone help in a "for dummies" answer? Thanks in advance.
one click back to stock should do the trick. I believe you do it twice for bootloader.

Don't cry lol. Go to this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498
and download the one click. All you have to do is open it up and click flash and everything is done for you. When its done, your phone will be just as it was when you opened the box it came in. As a word of advice though, don't use titanium backup to move apps to the SD card. It does more harm than is justified for saving a few MB's, because system apps aren't meant to be used from the SD card. If you don't use them, just delete them.
Thank you!!!
You all are amazing. I now successfully have Gingerbread stock (when I used to have Froyo) and everything seems to be working just like it should. I think I'll leave my phone alone now. I tried to swim in the deep end, but I belong in the kiddie pool! This is all above my head. Thank you again! MWAH!!!

Blu View 3 [B140DL]

Would it be possible to get this phone added as a device, or maybe a General Questions thread for blu devices? Not sure if this is improper protocol here but if I looked around a bit and that just seems like the next logical step.. I think. Lol. There is a similar thread for getting root w/magisk but I believe that's it. If adding a new device is a bunch of extra work just point me in that direction and I'll put everything together if need be. Thanks. Again, sorry if this is out of line. Long time lurker, first time poster.

I have never posted here either, but have also frequented here over the last several years. I have this device, as well as a few other Blu products, just started learning them recently. Its a mediatek course, have poke around with various features , still trying to unlock the bootloader. Did successfully unlock the bootloader on my Blu v50 (g50 plus clone), but the process is not the same. I created an account for this, will be watching here and on a few other devices, hopefully we can get some info to continue tinkering

Well, I see there's not been any action here yet. Xda is hit or miss for less popular devices. I plan on messing with the b140dl tonight, hopefully unlock the bootloader and patch/flash magisk, I'll post the results either way.
I'd like to find a twrp or the firmware.. if a boot.bin or boot.img exists yet as I've been unsuccessful so far. Any kinda help much appreciated
Has anyone made any progress on this device in the last month or two? I know we all got lives to live but I could use some help....
I did figure out how to simply frp bypass this phone

i got into the phone by opening emergency calls. Then adding and editing emergency contact info. You will see the option to whe re you can call or send a text. choose text, then the three dots in top right corner allowing you to select details. In details click on notifications, then click the middle of the top of the screen which will open the messages app info. Now click open. open settings and choose permissions. Now you should see the search icon in the top right corner. Click it and type apps. In the apps go to play services and disable it, go back to where you typed apps and type accessibility. Go to accessibility and select the first option, think it is the accessibility menu. open it and turn it on...Now go all the way back to the start screen. Open the accessibility and and select the assistant. You will be asked to enable play services. after doing this you should be able to set up the device...if not restart the device and you should be able to then...If I haven't forgotten anything...I am going on memory alone with no device to refresh my steps...goodluck
A video of frp bypassing may help some people out as well. Have we got close to a guide on how to root and install custom recovery?

Lo' there have you or anyone else made any headway on the B140DL? I have 2 of these little Blu Bastards and totally went Frankenstein on one of them. (Yes it still works) I have found the reboot "Test Points" but haven't been successful in forcing Brom mode. If you can get it into Brom mode you can get MTK Client to recognize it and run the script to unlock the bootloader. But I'm not sure about getting it out of Brom after that. I'm not afraid to find out, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Any update on this phone by any chance? Which test points are the correct ones?? I've been trying to figure It out for hours. And how did you find that info out if you don't mind me asking, just curious.
Turned mine on for the first time in a couple months, saw there's a security update. Won't be installing that, it seems unlikely but I'll hold out hope that a way to root or unlock bootloader is discovered for this phone someday. I'm on the July 5, 2022 update.
Ive tried this FRP bypass and I dont have the option of choosing permissions when I go to edit the text file. I have been able to get into drive but still havent found the app permissions options maybe it has been patched? The phone was last updated security wise oct 10 2022

The only thing I have gotten it to do from test point is reboot. The only thing that I can tell you is tear it down and start shorting them out one by one. But be careful, don't stay on point for too long. You may end cooking something.
