I use Kies to sync calendar, contact, notes and tasks from my SGS2 LTE from Rogers.
Today when I went to sync, it offered me a NEW version. Their web site does not have this version up yet at the download link.
The new version is Kies_2.1.0.11112_41. The old version, that I was using without trouble, was Kies_2.1.0.11095_121_6.
I installed, connected device, did my sync. All well.
By the way, it also syncs my Itunes library perfectly.
I thought there was a way to manually update through kies? I was thinking I read that somewhere but can't remember. This is my first Samsung device. When I tried connecting to kies my browser said page unavailable.

The update came out today, which is why you see the 11112 in the version name (2011-01-12).

Just flashed my phone to 2.2 from "designgears" on xda
Now i cant connect to kies, it says device is not compatible.
also when connected to the computer it says "kies(firmware update)" instead of the regular "samsung kies" option then media player and mass storage.
Is there a way to manually put my contacts and memos on it without kies?
You can try at&t address book but you need to have synced with it before flashing and then sync after flash. Another way is to export your contact to your external SD and then import them after you flash.

all my contacts are saved by Kies it just i dont want to manually input each single one, can i somehow transfer that kies save to [email protected] address book? do you think they will update kies to support froyo 2.2 soon?
Take the pain and migrate your contacts to online services like GMail or Hotmail. Then it will be a piece of cake to sync them back to your phone after a ROM update or switch to new phones.
Kies sync is not officially supported in US model of Galaxy S.

Has there been a fix for the old "Starting Download" issue on the Android Market? I still can't download anything from it. I know that resetting my phone will work (for a while), but it's not an option right now. Any help?
P.S. I've searched the forum as well and was not able to find a concrete answer.
I was told that starting Google Talk should make sure you're logged in to Google's server, which is (supposedly) what causes that problem.

Hmm, I tried that but I'm already logged in
That issue has haunted me for a while - I get a cold sweat anytime a download start takes longer than usual.
I personally don't believe it's an issue with your device (as I've seen some argue it to be), rather it's with your gmail account. When a factory reset didn't fix my problem, I went to a tmobile store where my buddy works, and we put my sim card into every android device he had (mt3g, mts, garmin, and one other I can't remember), only to find that none would allow me to download.
For me the workaround I'm currently using is to set up the device with another gmail account newly created for the purpose of being able to download apps, then set up my "real" gmail (the one I actually use) to sync my contacts and calendar. The only problem is that I can't use my real gmail on gchat, since that only signs into the primary account you used when setting up the device. I don't use gchat much on my phone anyway, so it wasn't that big of a deal.
I suppose it's possible my phone corrupted my account somehow, but I had deleted caches, updates, and anything else I'd heard had worked for others, but to no avail. If you get to the bottom of the problem, be sure to let me know.
Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for the tip but as it turns out - I can't even add another account It always produce an error saying "can't establish connection". Any idea why this is the case?
The "Starting Download" issue for me, was unfixable and related to my google account. I created a new one and it worked flawlessly.

Hmm...that sounds like a connectivity issue and not a problem with the device. I'd say reboot your phone and try again.
Just to be clear, I created a new gmail address and used that during the initial setup of the phone (after a factory reset of course), then went to settings> accounts and sync> select add account and entered the old gmail I've used forever (which is why just ditching it and using the new one wasn't an option - I didn't want to bother notifying everyone I had a new email).
You'll see that you only have the option to sync contacts and gmail with a secondary gmail address - not calendar. To get around this (since my old gmail is the calendar I want to sync), set up the new gmail to share calendars w/ the old one. Once that's done, you'll see in your calendar app settings on the phone the option to sync the old gmail calendar and not the new one.
Hope that made sense! It's really not difficult to do - just annoying that it has to be done at all. I wish someone would figure out why some gmail accounts get stuck at starting download. What a pain.
I had this problem for awhile, but it was because I was task killing Google Talk. When I disabled the task killer it worked fine.
I read a few comments on the help community in the market to go to applications, manage apps, select the market then uninstall updates. This worked for a while but very intermittent. Worth a go though

I generally just wait, I believe it's a server issue...I eventually get the download but, yeah, I wait and then go back to the store and attempt to start the download again...and that seems to work.

Yes downloading from the market is related to the Google Talk app. I once deleted it from /system and it did the same thing.

Thanks for all of the replies. I know of the delete Market update solution but when I browse for Market in the Manage Application screen, I never see the "update" portion there. Any other tips?

I used to use Kies do the sync, but after flashed I9000 based roms, kies doesn't work anymore(says device not supported), is there any other way to sync with outlook? google is not a option cause it's another group contacts which I used on another phone. Thanks.
I use Outlook Hotmail Connector and a hotmail account.
the reason Kies says Device not supported is because I9000 roms change the product ID. It is not recognized as a captivate anymore. Same thing happened to me. There are threads on here on how to change you product ID back to the captivate ID but whatever you do, don't try to change it back to the captivate ID while still on an I9000 ROM - it will completely screw your IMEI number, and possibly make your phone unuseable as a phone.
The only way to use Kies with your captivate is to be on a captivate based ROM, generally a KB1. But even if you flash back to stock 2.1 you will still need to edit some files to get your product ID back to normal. It's a complicated process if you have never done it before.
As far as contacts go, I use MyPhoneExplorer. It's free, get it in the market, and you also need the free copy on your desktop (or laptop). It can sync wirelessly or via usb with Outlook contacts and calendar.
I'll be glad to assist you with product ID change if you need. just let me know. I have done it several times. But be prepared to back up everything becuase it will involve flashing stock and clearing things.

I use GSyncIt. Very good program. Highly configurable. Costs $20 but it is worth it to me. Syncs contacts, calendars, motes, etc.

So, I have a galaxy Nexus and my girlfriend has a stratosphere, i am able to get her calendar synced to my phone, but not get mine on hers. We can get the calendar onto her google calendar via the browser, but will not sync to her stock calendar app. Any ideas?

Sync to Google calendar on Litening Rom v2.3 failure
Hi,
I'm am currently experiencing a similar issue. I recently rooted a Samsung Galaxy S2 (i91000) with an original kernal (XWKK2) and flashed the Litening Rom v2.3 onto the device. Everything else works fine but the syncing with google calendar. I noticed in the changelog that v2.2 had added the google calendar but I'm unsure whether the syncing aspect was added. I was originally intending to post to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095274
but because I am a new member I am unable to. I'm wondering if other people are experiencing this issue?
The error message was very vague. I will include it on a follow up post. I am hoping to bump this post as I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
Many thanks for the help,
Pat
Edited text: I'm hoping to get a response first just so I know whether to install ADB - i.e. whether this is already a known issue or not.
I had this problem and solved the syncing last night. On your mobile device go into settings, applications, manage, all, then find calendar storage and clear data. Ok that and reboot. It will then resync with your online calendar.
See vmiller's post in following link.

Calendar was syncing with my kf but not my Droid X. Did this on my Droid x and it syncs fine now.
Thanks so much!
I'll try this soon.
Looks like this will solve the issue.
I'll thanks the post when I can - did more then 8 today
Cheers,
Pat
Oh, and only need to do that once.
It solved the problem of new events created online or on kf not showing up on my Droid and it solved the problem of new events created on Droid not appearing online and on my kf.
IMHO , when i log in my google account , the calendar start sync
Hi guys,
I've tried it on the phone and it seems to work after the restart. However, if you restart the phone again (for any reason), the sync issues reoccur. I've found that if I clear the data, restart the phone and re-sync it works but it fails to sync again once the phone is restarted. I'll stick with the workaround for the moment but I hope a fix comes about.
Cheers,
Pat

I will try this and report back. Thanks
I have the OneNote app on three devices my Note (original), Tab2 7.0 and my Note 10.1. On the Note all the notebooks sync but in the other two, where I can do a lot more work, one of the notebooks (the same) will not sync. I get error message "Error Code = e4010641". The other notebooks sync fine and that notebook is synced on the Samsung Note, so obviously it can be done.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

I used to be an avid fan of onenote and used it a lot including using mobilenoter..
I remember getting this error a long time ago... may be an year.. I uninstalled the app and removed all cache and then reinstalled it.. WOrked well..
I have also read somewhere that if only one notebook is the culprit then back it up and make a whole new similar notebook might help.
However recently I moved away from onenote as my primary devices are android and microsoft is never going to provide full onenote solution to android platform..
unfortunately i have not found anything that is even close..
I followed your suggestion, unfortunately it didn't change anything. However, I moved all the pages under the first label to a newly created label and then did a sync. This time it worked, with the exception that I did get a sync error message (but no actual sync error since nothing was changed) on the new first label (which was the second one before the editing). So it seems to me that the sync code has some problem with the first label, I suppose you can just leave an empty label in order to avoid sync problems.
When the need arises I will add pages to the first label and see what kind of result I yield.
