Iball Slide Tablet Rooted..(Perm Root) - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I am not Responsible for any kind of damage..This post is for educational purpose only...
This forum contains Farhan's method of rooting..I have not personally achieved root access employing that..So I am writing down an easy method which grants root permission to your Iball tablet..
Download(See the attachments..)
1. Root explorer(preferably v2.17.1)
2. Gingerbreak v1.20
3. Root Check.
See the attachments..
These are enough for rooting.. Install RootExplorer and open it. Navigate via RootExplorer to /default.prop..
1. Press it for 2 seconds, then "open it" via text editor.
2. Edit the file default.prop to change the value ro.secure=0 (instead of the given value stock ro.secure=1)
3. Now press the back button, which gives a 'save" dialogue..Save it, and you see the original file is saved with the name "default.prop.bak".
4. Open your cmd.exe in windows and type adb shell..You should see a # instead of $..Now install and open the Root Checker, click "Verify Root Access", and then with a lot of frustration you will see "Sorry, you don't have root access"..
Don't be frustrated, I am here to help you out!!
5. Now install Gingerbreak, and open it, click "Root device"..It will take some time to run the exploit..then the device will automatically shut down..
6. Power on your device manually, it will take a little bit time more than usual. leave it for 1 minute after you see your unlock screen, then unlock it.
7.Go straight to menu>root Check..It will ask for SuperUser permission, Click ok>Veryfify Root Access..And then you will obviously see "Congratulations! You have root access!"
If you own success, please thank me, I have not copied someone's procedure, this procedure is completely discovered by me after going through lots of tutorials regarding android development, and now I am also capable of building some basic apps for android..

this means that you do not have adb.exe in the same directory as the commands you are typing

I can't root my iball slide q45. I tried farmroot, towelroot, kingroot, king pro root, kingo root, gingerroot, z4root. Plz give me solution.

{Howto}Downgrrade form rooted 1.47.651.1

Ok... If your wimax isn't working and you want to downgrade to try to get it working this is how to do it...
1st get all of the files like you want to do Toast's Part-2. link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=701835
Then do this part:
STEP 2~FLASHING MTD PARTITION TO ENABLE DOWNGRADE:
- download all files posted above
- unzip the flash_image.zip and the mtd-eng.zip
- put the flash_image and mtd-eng.img on the root of your sdcard
- go into shell on ur pc and do:
adb shell
cat /sdcard/flash_image > /data/flash_image
chmod 755 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image misc /sdcard/mtd-eng.img
- this should only take a second or two
- now put the PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sdcard
- power off the phone
STEP 3~FLASHING ENG BUILD:
- hold volume down + power to boot into hboot
- it should now find and verify the PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sdcard. itll show a blue status bar on the top right of the screen.
- after a minute or so it will ask u if u wanna flash SAY YES
- affter it flashes the PC36IMG.zip it will ask if you wanna reboot. SAY YES
After if finally boots you should see HTC quietly brilliant which hangs forever but it should eventually get past it. Once it does you will have the oldest everything. This is a beta build and has a bunch of tools but just do an upgrade to root like you normally would. I would suggest going to .6 then upgrading to the latest 47 from there.
Hope that this helps someone.
P.S. is anyone willing to dump all of the tools that are included in this rom. It might be helpful for the other devs.
Thats the hard way... but yeah it'l work.
Why is everyone so hype on adb everything...?
Tell me the easy way. I would love to do it instead.

It's just easier to copy and paste stuff, even typing on a real keyboard. It's a pain in the ass doing it via terminal emulator with the lack of a physical keyboard on our Evo's.
Can anyone confirm if this helps fix the 4g issue?

I used the toast method. And if i'm not mistaken I should flash roms w/o the 1.47.651.1 OTA update after downgrading right?
Nope, I try this method and it is not working. Some how the new OTA encrypted a code that any lower version will not over write it.
You don't have root access to even copy/paste or push the files to /data. I tried this and got a permission denied error message.
How do you input adb shell into Vista, I clicked "start", "run" and type "cmd" it bring up C:\users\XXXXX\ cd c:\android hit "enter"
then I type
c:\android>adb remount
Access is denied
Please advise what I did wrong. thanks
It worked for me... you have to make sure that when you enter the su command in adb to look at your phone. There should be a super user permission box that pops up. Accept it and youll be able to adb. It went fine for me after that.

1) Put your phone on USB Debug
2) On your Phone make sure the Ninja(SuperUserPermission) is set to prompt you when you have a request.
3) go to your PC and type in adb shell
4) type in SU
5) Once do you that you will see a prompt from the Ninja asking for a request. Allow for it. And it will remember from that point forward.
6) Look at your cmd prompt screen for a # - if you have it you have full access.
Then so what commands you have been given to do.
It can also be done from the Android Terminal Emulator but some might not like working with a smaller screen I like it myself. Makes me feel geeky

This would only work if after the messup your still has root access. Some people have root and the "SU" will work but for the people w/o root will get access denied.
also
From above (I hate quoting) have you tried going to your tools folder inside your android folder and from there try your adb commands?
If you applied the OTA sent from Sprint, you lost root access. There will be no Ninja in the programs folder, because it was a new rom that the was flashed with the OTA. Root access has been closed for those that downloaded the update. If you try and type su, you will get permission denied.
Those of you that still have the root and superuser rights, DON'T DOWNLOAD THE OTA!! You are in a better position then the rest of us. I wanted the good battery life, so that's why I did it.

[ROOT] G2X Gingerbread 2.3.3. stock ROM with flashable zip in Clockworkmod Recovery

Update on 9/11/11: Thanks to phburks there is now a flashable zip to root the G2X stock rom. He figured out that the update-binary we were using was not compatible with the G2X. He found the compatible binary that allows us to create flashable zip files. Hats off to phburks. This is an unsigned zip and you should not be required to toggle signature verification. Of course the files required to root the phone (su and Superuser.apk) were created by Chainsdd.
There are two flashable zip packages. The first one roots the G2X. You simply flash it with Clockworkmod Recovery. The second zip unroots the phone for those who wish to unroot their device for whatever reason.
After rooting go to the Android Market and get the Busybox installer referenced below. Use that to install and keep Busybox updated.
Root Zip for G2X: http://www.mediafire.com/?92qpr525ztblh8w
Unroot Zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?2vr7cmgg7qcdn14
HOW TO ROOT
1. Install latest Clockworkmod Recovery using NVFlash, if you haven’t already done so.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
2. Download the root zip package referenced above.
3. Put the zip package on your internal or external sd card on your G2X. Do not unzip the package.
4. Turn off phone and boot into Clockworkmod Recovery by pressing volume down and power and hold until the fancy LG (second one) appears.
5. Select install zip from sd card. Select and flash the root zip package. Note: You navigate in Clockwordmod Recovery by using the volume keys up and down and commit the action by pressing the power button.
6. Reboot your phone. You are now rooted.
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING BELOW IS OBSOLETE. IT IS LEFT FOR HISTORICAL PURPOSES ONLY.
Original post made on 9/9/11:
I wanted to run the stock Gingerbread ROM and wanted to root it without flashing a new ROM. I was able to succesfully do it and the instructions are below. I was attempting to make an update.zip to do this but it kept getting a "status 0" error. The original superuser zip by ChainDD also gets this error. So I decided to try and root it using ADB commands while running Clockworkmod Recovery. Here is how I did it. If someone can help me get an update.zip that will install without error in Clockworkmod Recovery to make this easier for people to install it would be much appreciated.
1. Download my G2X root package that includes necessary ADB files (Android SDK install not required) and unzip the contents. The package contains the latest versions of “su” and “Superuser.apk”.
http://www.mediafire.com/?6rdrdfxvdoq9nkv <download link for my root G2X package>
2. Install latest Clockworkmod Recovery using NVFlash, if you haven’t already done so.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
3. Boot into Clockworkmod Recovery by holding down volume down and power until fancy LG logo shows (about ten to fifteen seconds). This is not the first one displayed when the phone powers up. Wait for recovery to start. Just to be safe perform a backup of your device’s current state.
4. Using the recovery menu scroll down to “mounts and storage,” press the power button, scroll down to “mount system” and press the power button.
5. Now that your system is mounted plug your phone into your computer (let drivers install if you have not done before – requires LG USB driver package).
http://bit.ly/qyoAxY <shortened link for direct download from LG server>
6. Open a command prompt windows on your computer. In the command prompt window change to the directory to where you unzipped the G2X root package.
7. Issue the following ADB commands. Do not type the the text in the brackets <>. That is just information on what the command is doing.
adb kill-server
<make sure no conflict with another version of adb server running>
adb devices
<checks to see if phone is connected to adb>
adb push system /system
<make sure you type a space before “/system”>
adb shell chmod 6755 /system/bin/su
adb shell ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
<make sure you type a space before “/system/xbin/su ”>
8. System is now rooted. You can unplug the USB cable now.
9. Now in Clockworkmod Recovery choose “unmount system.”
10. Go back to the main menu and choose “reboot system now.”
11. If you want busybox (some root programs such as Titanium Backup require it) on your system go to the Android Market after rebooting your phone and search on “Busybox.” Download and run the Busybox installer by Stephen (Stericson). When you are prompted allow it to have superuser permissions.
http://bit.ly/qIAoXZ <link to Android Market page for Busybox>
12. You are now rooted with a working busybox installation.
13. It is a good idea to go back into recovery and make a backup of your newly rooted system before you start installing and running programs that obtain superuser permissions.
14. Enjoy the power!

This is for people who have been using the phone after applying the update and don't want to start from scratch again. This lets you just root the phone without needing to flash a rom and format the system.

That's a Command Prompt windows on your computer. The easiest way is to open the desired folder in Windows Explorer and then click on the address bar. Highlight the entire location and copy it. Then in your command prompt windows type "cd" a space, right click and paste the copied location and hit return. You will now be in the correct folder in your command prompt windows.
Thank you for quick reply

Thanks to phburks for the good work in figuring out why our update zip packages were being rejected by Clockworkmod Recovery. We now have flashable zips to root the G2X (works on stock GB rom) and to unroot it. They are listed in the first post that I have edited.

[script]replace kingroot's kinguser with supersu

Remove KingRoot’s KingUser with SuperSU using Terminal [Requires Intermediate skills]
This method works for almost all the android devices and works the best, However, it requires some decent skills to follow the instructions and copy the commands listed below into the Terminal app.
The link of the script which is shared below works without a computer system/PC, Hence the steps I’m listing below won’t require a computer PC. So are you ready?
Downloads
This download section has the download links to the files or apps you will require to complete the below listed steps. Ready to shift from KingUser to SuperSU? What are you waiting for?
lets begin.
1.Download & Install Terminal Emulator App
2.Download SuperSu script from here http://www.mediafire.com/file/mxzbt42xypvn2ts/Replace_Kinguser_with_SuperSU-v2.4.zip and unzip it!
Steps to Replace KingUser with SuperSU?
Step 1: Extract the Replace_Kinguser_with_SuperSU ZIP File & Transfer the extracted version to Internal storage of device.
Install the Terminal app for Android and extract the Replace_Kinguser_with_SuperSU file and after extracting the Replace_Kinguser_with_supersu file transfer the “Extracted Folder – MRW” to outermost directory in the internal storage.
Step 2: Open Terminal Android App & Write the Following commands in the Android Terminal.
Open the terminal android app type the command “su” in the terminal, after writing the SU in terminal, you will be prompted with the message box asking you to deny/grant the functions. Granting permission will help you remove the kinguser on your smartphone.
After granting permissions you will have to type one single line of code, The other command will be: sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
After writing the above command, it might show some error, but ignore that error, it will automatically launch SuperSU, in case it doesn’t manually open SuperSU.
Once done, Restart your smartphone and you will see that SuperSU works flawlessly on your Smartphone. That’s all, you’ve successfully replaced KingRoot’s KingUser with Chainfire’s SuperSU.
Huge thanks to the Dev of the script

Get Root Acces for ADB

I've rooted my Samsung Galaxy J5 to access data from an app. When I try to get the data via "adb pull" on my PC, I will be denied access. After some research I found out that i have to assign root rights to the ADB. However, when I run the command "adb root" I get the following error message: "adbd cannot run as root in production builds"
To work around that problem, I installed "adbd insecure" on my smartphone.
[2014.11.10][ROOT] adbd Insecure v2.00 | XDA Developers Forums (xda-developers.com)
But every time the connection between PC and smartphone breaks off as soon as I tick "Enable insecure adbd" and my PC no longer detects my smartphone. Does anyone have any idea why that might be? Or does someone know another way to assign root rights to the ADB? I'm just really desperate and would be happy about any help
Just use Termux and do it with your phone instead. You can grab the app from Google play or fdroid. Alternatively, use a root explorer, navigate right to the app's folder, and copy it wherever you want. Option #2 is the easiest.

Good stuff!
By design adb root command works in development builds only (i.e. eng and userdebug which have ro.debuggable=1 by default). Alternatively you could use modified adbd binary (which does not check for ro.debuggable)
