[Q] increase volume speaker - HTC Desire S

hi, i have a desire s from june, this year, and I constantly looking for something, hardware, software, new rom, to increase speaker volume wich is realy low. when I'm outside and I want to listen something on youtube or my phone ring, it's very low sound, very low, there is any solution to increase speaker volume, media volume? I don't trust that little software on the market, because they are for headset, or just for music,mp3,etc, I want something for ringer and video, thank you

I think nothing is good for Change the loudness from your speaker.... Maybe with the cyanogenmod you can Change your equalizer
My english is not the best i m from germany but itry the best

use volume+
check the android market for this app.
this app really rocks! It increases the sound of your external speakers. There's an option to chose on how loud would you want it to be. Be careful though, because it might bust your speakers!. 6 is loud enough and I think is just right without damaging your speakers.
Not sure though on it's rom compatibility. I'm currently on Endymion 3.0 and it works fine here. Also, I was able to test it on MIUI rom and it works flawlessly

Thank you guys for the answers, I arleady have volume+ splication, the free one with 4 level, but noting louder for my speaker and I tryed few roms till now , so I i guess I'm to exigent

I use the equaliser app and it definitely increases the volume by a fair bit. Try it.

HTC EVO Volume booster???

Hey guys,
Im looking for a volume booster since i listen to music on my phone everyday, i tried Audio Hack
but seems not to work on my Evo (its unrevoked rooted, if that helps) let me know if anyone can help me out. I need volume like the iphone!! Love my Evo tho.

Just wanted to bump this. The past several days have afforded me the chance to stream music on my evo from xm at work, and could for sure use just a little more volume to hear it over the noise of my workplace.

Volume for music seems pretty loud for me if the phone is close to you. Isn't anyone worried about damaging the speaker? My previous phone after a year the sound quality for music sucked and I didn't even use it that much..Had to get a replacement and really noticed a difference. I'm afraid I'm going to damage the speaker over time just having the volume up all the way without an audio boost hack.
I actually would love to boost the headphone volume.
It's fine most of the time, but when I'm on the train it can be difficult to hear even when I have the headphone volume at full.
agreed, the volume out of the headset seems pretty low especially when in a loud area

Seems to me this is probably more of an issue with the particular headset you are using. The EVO gets pretty loud on my headset.
There's an ear piece volume boost in nentarchy's kernel. I'm actually going to flash to latest one he just released cause once you go too high, things get distorted. He lowered it a bit supposedly in the new release.

i can say that the iphone headphones are lower in volume compared to my sony headphones by far. not touching the volume and just switch headsets i have to lower the volume on the sony's..... the sony headset are true stereo headphones and not for phones as they do not have a mic.
is there any way to make the rings louder? i remember there was a hack to make the touch pro louder and i wish there was something to make the evo louder everything is perfect except that i rarely hear my phone as its always in my pocket ive even make the quality higher on ,my ringtones and its still the same...

we would be nice if someone would reply to this thread with an idea or a fix for this as i would be interested because my speaker volume is too low i had in idea of hex editing any comments on this idea would be nice
Well i use always semi professional headphones, since, to me, common ones suck to no end (professionals are way to expensive through). If I put the sound on the maximun or one level down, sounds good on normal musics (CD base decibels). Non normalized files (lower volume) become pratically inaudible. This happens also with the speaker.
I dont want to continuously have a 12 inch speakr on my EVO, i just want to listen in a heatly safe - good volume without put on max and up when file have a lower volume. XD
Seems fine to me with the included headphones... Not sure if using PowerAmp while listening to my albums is making a difference but volume seems about right foe r me...
how about without Headphones the volume is still not loud without them...no problem with headphones on
Guy, the problem has to do with more than the Evo. If your impedance level is high with the headphones you are using then the Evo cant drive them. Ultimately any 'hack' is just going to cause distortion at high levels. You need to get some sort of amp. I suggest CMOY.

things i can recommend. IF you are rooted.
1.BEFORE TRYING THE FOLLOWING DO A LOT OF READING. IT HELPS.
2. try an alternate kernel..... either netarchy toastod or ziggy. they have audio
tweaks built into them.
3. dsp manager. allows you to tweak audio further.

Sound tweak to up volume?

Hi,
Does anyone know a way to tweak a system file so that Inspire's volume is higher?
I personally find its stock volume rather low, and I want to increase it.
I downloaded Zedge. It is a free app with nice louder ringtones.
Hope this helps!
I'm wanting to up the volume system-wide. But, thanks for the info anyway
Yea, I tested a movie and sling player last night. The media volume was all the way up and it was quite.
I went from iPhone 4 (nice and louad) to Atrix 4g (nice and loud) to Inspire 4g (too quiet).
I am loving the Inspire but the sound volume and battery life are definitely the 2 big downsides of it. Still a winner over the Atrix any day though.
I personally don't have issues with the battery. I've removed all extra stuff. Even before removing them, I was happy with its battery.
It can't be that hard to change the system volume. It's done in every smartphone and OS before. Hopefully, some developer notices this thread and help us out.

I'm half deaf. Need a louder phone please.
same here, the phone volume is too low. Maybe if can acces service codes? I did it on my previous Samsung phone.
Hi, all.
So, I've been doing some digging around, and looks like there are 2 possibilities.
One is to modify the system files manually (which would be very complicated), but I personally prefer this method rather than having to install extra stuff. However, this method is not available to us unless some very smart person shares the method with us.
Two, which seems to be the only viable option at the moment, is DSP Manager. As far as I understand, it used to be available through ROM Manager, but it is no longer there. I saw a thread that said the author was not releasing it anymore because most MOD developers were now including it in their ROMs from the beginning.
So, if we can find a way to install DSP Manager, we may be able to tweak the max speaker volume. But, that's as far as I could find. I'd need someone smarter to look into this.
Hi,
An update and a new idea.
First, DSP Manager doesn't work on Inspire 4G, so don't bother.
Second,
Here's a new idea I have about the low volume sound fix. I just read a comment from HTC employee who said, "The front speaker is for phone calls and the rear speaker is for everything else."
In other words, if we can find a way to keep the front speaker enabled all the time, we should be able to get more sound. I don't know much about what kind of coding is involved in routing sounds from each speaker, but I wonder if this would be an easier hack than trying to increase the entire system volume, which may still feel low volume for as long as we can't get any sound out of the front speaker.
Maybe someone smart can add to this possibility?
#1! I like to use voice recordings as scheduled reminders, and the playback volume out of the rear speaker is way too low.
I did notice the low volume on a movie i downloaded but you never can tell with those sorts of things. Overall the sounds is incredible even through the speakers with (SRS) and dolby mobile.
Could use something to ++output level.
Id like to see an app to change audio volume levels while recording video.
(ive only had the phone a couple days i returned my samsung Cap upgrade for the 4g, forgive me if there is such an app out there)
How often do you go to watch an awesome looking concert video and the sound is trash? It would make for some beautiful recordings i think. I have yet to test this one, but the Captivate could not record decent sound at all in loud environment.
I personally have come to believe that it is really not that the "volume" is low but rather a "wrong" speaker is being used. I mean, if the main speaker is on the back facing away from us, of course we don't hear much sound. If you flip the phone while playing music or video, you'll notice that the sound is actually loud enough. So, if we can enable the front speaker for normal use, I really think that it'll be just fine.
about every HTC phone has a quiet speaker. but cyanogen typically always includes the audio boost add-on. so i'd just wait for cyanogen 7 to include it, and your troubles will be solved.
well, even if the volume is boosted, as long as the sound is coming out of the rear speaker, if you place your phone on its back on a table or something, the sound will still suffer. It makes more sense to find a way to enable the front speaker.
Most of all phone have a rear facing speaker. But some phone are loud and some are not..

No, they don't lol. (you may be right if you are talking about specific brand or series, but certainly not "most of all phones").
I just came across something that may be relevant to the audio routing, but I'm not smart enough to figure them out. If anybody wants to take a look at it, it would be great:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/AudioManager.html
There are several lines there that talk about Routing.

This may sound ridiculous but works!
Hi, all.
I just came up with a very simple workaround for "only when you are watching a video or something."
Now, you're gonna probably laugh, but trust me. It really works.
Just play any video, and hold your phone as if you are scooping water. The key is the left hand. When you cup your left hand around the rear speaker, it creates a echoing chamber that redirect all sound toward you. You'll be able to hear the sound much better.

[REQ] [MOD] headphone volume boost?

I am not sure if i'm putting this in the right category but i figured since this is where the kernel development goes on it would be the best place.
I don't know about anyone else, but i use my phone as an all in one media device, and my main concern is the audio volume that comes out of the auxillary jack. I have tried 3 different ROMs and a few kernels including stock, and when my Inspire's media volume is maxed out playing through my car stereo it doesn't even come close to the volume output of my nexus s and captivate, much less my iPhone. The closest i have been able to get in better audio quality/volume comes from CM7, i am guessing because it is sourced off of AOSP. Even that is at least a notch or two under my cappy, and it makes a big difference.
I was wondering if there is anyway to make a kernel/ROM adjustment to boost the AUX volume output, NOT the phone external speaker.
Gladly willing to donate to a project for this.

Yes, please, I would love this, I use my phone to listen to music in my car and it's incredibly low, only when I turn my car's speakers to max is it at a normal volume... I would love this mod.
Download an app called volume boost.

I know in CM7 that you can use DSP Manager to boost volume for just headset. Just increase the EQ evenly across the full range.

There has to be a better way to make this thing loud. I was irritated with how quiet my Rhodium was and this device is even worse. In Rhodium Land I procured a .cab that made my Rhodium obnoxiously loud at full volume. I want some of that.

To touch on the DSP resolution, it did not work. It boosted the power output yes, but distorted the clarity to an unusable extent.
Unfortunately a mod moved this thread because even though it is a development discussion, it seems they aren't enthusiastic enough to support this mod.
I'm offering at least 15$ for this fix..
Low Volume Output
I have just gotten a HTC Inspire 4G, and it's not hard to see that the volume output is doubtfully low compared to most other devices such as an iPhone. I have tried all the suggestions in this thread but none seem to work for a high volume output into a stereo, headphones, are any other jack devies. The EQ seemed to be a good idea I prefer to use my equalizer to sustain a better music experience. So overall I think there should be a mod or a tweak to increase volume output level.
Sent from HTC Inspire 4G
A volume increase, or fix is definitely needed. This phone is too quiet.
There's a fix!
Root your phone and flash Revolution ROM v3.5. I just got back from cranking out Pandora on my car radio and the sound is great!
Check my sense Rom thread there is 2 beta kernels I just compiled with speed tweaks and volume boosts across both speakers and headphones(should in turn boost aux output levels as well). It's LOUD, to the point I can no longer listen to music at full volume. I still need to make some fine tuning adjustments, but I think I'm gonna try dsp manager to help even further. Some libs have to be replaced for dsp manager to work with sense roms, but with the sound boost alone, quality still seems to be pretty good with no distortion(that I heard anyway), and with this and dsp manager, it should be a pretty good fix.
I need feedback so I know what has to be fixed(or not fixed...too loud?, distortion?, etc)
Note these are froyo inspire kernels
It has to be whatever ROM you all are using... I took the exact same songs on CD -vs- my phone, and volume is the same, clean across the board.
No issues here at all.
Then again, I am VERY sensitive about my music and won't touch it unless it has a high bit rate. I also run volume leveling software on all of my music too. That way one song isn't terribly louder than the previous.
I'd really like this, my truck stereo isn't loud enough with the inspire at max volume. I don't want to change ROMs to fix this because every ROM other than what I'm running had some problem I couldn't stomach. However, while I briefly had CM7, it did boost the volume significantly.
Its already done as I posted. Flash the kernel from my (sense rom)thread(you'll have to search for it, but its there. Its stable, fast, and the volume is LOUD.(froyo kernel)

Headset audio level

Hey everyone, well I'm a fairly new T-Mobile customer & Sensation owner and while I really love the phone I'm not the happiest about the speaker or headset volume level. I can turn the level all the way up when I have a headset plugged in and it's no where near loud enough for me when listening to music. Is this the norm for all you Sensation owners as well?
Now I've read about the crappy speaker that is used and I've followed the music player thread hear as well I've tested Volume+ and nothing seems to change the loudness level. All of the apps were just the free verions and I know that Volume+ lets you go to +8 in the paid version but I just wish something could boost the volume to a noticeable difference!
It's getting to the point where I may swap this out for the Amaze or possible Consider the GSII.
The stock handsfree headset is pure crap, mind you. Just get a pair of good headphones and a Beats ROM and you'll be all set

[Q] Low Volume issue

Hi,
The volume of my Galaxy Note n8000 is too low. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Easy, install volume+ app. It will increase the volume as much as you desire. Be careful though, several reports of people blowing their speakers, on other devices, from them carelessly increasing volume like crazy..lmao
I use speaker boost

My note is nice and loud and II really haven't seen too many, if any, posts about volume issues. Couple be a possible bad unit. I'd try going down to a Best Buy to seem how one of the floor models compare.
Thanks for the replies everyone
Hi Guys,
Thanks for all the replies everyone. My galaxy note tab sounds fine in normal situations, but in really noisy environments it hardly audible. So i dont think there is any problem with the device. I installed the equalizer app and the volume has definitely become louder though it reduces the audio quality.

Volume+ works great on JB. I have it installed on my Nexus 7 running the latest build of JB. Which is 4.1.2. Also have it installed on my note. Volume already sounded loud but I wanted it a little bit louder. Works great and didn't decrease the sound quality at all for me.
Another tip, if you don't want to use an 3rd party app, is to go into music player. Then open up settings. It has different sound profiles you can change to make it sound better to your liking. I keep it on auto for me.
