it's called device health application

Okay, I found it, I can't force stop and it's not in my App Quarantine list... What do I do?
Thanks guys

you need to be rooted
you then need the purchased version of titanium backup
you can then freeze it with titanium
that would be the easiest way without messing anything else up

or u could use bloat freezer. its free but ti backup pro can do so much more

These buggers make us run through so many hoops to get this crap off the phone. I can't believe there is no class action suit for this already. Having to root your phone to do this is outrageous!

What is Kpi Logger Service?

I wonder if the method in this post on the HTC Vivid forum would work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370541
Couldn't hurt I would think but than again I am not willing to try it cause I can't afford a brick for a device nor would I have any idea how to fix the phone if anything went haywire.

I used MyBackup Pro to freeze it

Hey guys just saw this on fox 11 news. Looks like its getting a lot of coverage. Is there a way to maybe uninstall it completely? If not then what exactly must were freeze for this to stop working?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA App

there is now an app on the market that targets those of us looking for a CIQ/app freezer...
search the market for 'app freezer' and Bloat Freezer free should show up. It specifically mentions CIQ.
I was able to freeze the app while running on my phone, though it prompted a perpetual FC error. I had to force a reboot but after that verified that it was indeed frozen.

Performance Issues

My Captivated is rooted and Im having a lot of performance issues. I unloaded some apps and its still having problems. The biggest issues is delayed response. This happen from messaging, to suing the touchscscrreen./----Im going to leave this typo because it happens of the screen freezing--/ . This happens way to frequently. you can follow all the steps to root your phone and reset and blablabla...
or you can wait for the software fix, which nobody knows when to come or nobody can guarantee to work.
or you can wait for 2.2, which is supposed to be faster but you never know.
or you can exchange for another phone and probably have the same problem.

I wouldn't mind playing the waiting game if just a couple of bugs. But what's a smart phone if it doesn't can't handled being used. I figured it was something I did cause the phone didn't always freeze like this. Is this the lag people are talking about?

Do a reset. However don't use Titanium Backup to restore system data. It will funk stuff up a lot of the time.

I had the same issues, first get rid off any task killer app you have. Second download the One Click Lag Fix app. These steps increased my phones speed drastically. You can also use a program called Autostarts to control which apps load at boot. To do the last to tips, I believe your phone had to be rooted.

Back before this nice app we had to use a script at boot to change the settings this app now does. Y'all got in on Android when it was getting easy to do everything. I had to root by cmd prompt and use a list of commands now we have one click rooters. I am kinda jealous.

You definitely don't need an app killer. Eclair is set up to kill apps when memory is needed. I find things to be buggy when I use an app killer. Use launcher pro. Much smoother than touch whiz. Root with SRE. When all the att crap is gone the phone functions like it should have out of the box even if you disable the OC. Lagfix is optional but doing all these things really makes the phone fly

LogMeIn

Has anyone noticed that the stock G2x comes with some LogMeIn packages(com.logmein.rescue and com.logmein.rescuesecurity) already installed? Anyone know what they are there for? I've yet to see anywhere that I could make use of them, which makes me wonder if they're there for LG or other companies to gain access for whatever reason.

Okay, so T-Mobile is including Logmein Rescue so they can access your machine for support. Personally, I backed it up and deleted it with Titanium Backup. No need for that crap. Everything is working fine.
The two apps are:
com.logmein.rescue 6.3.246
com.logmein.rescuesecurity 6.3.246
Thanks, I just froze them using titanium backup.

I removed them the first day I got the phone. Just use Root Explorer to delete them. I didn't like the sound of it either.
There is a thread about which apps you can delete, like the Tmobile crap, EA Store, games, etc. I posted what the app name was compared to the store and what I deleted without any recourse.
I removed a dozen probably.

[Q] Remove Ready2go

Disclaimer: I know I can root and use Titanium backup to freeze this app or remove it.
But I'm wondering if there's any way to kill/freeze/stop this app without root. It keeps starting up by itself and it's annoying. I'm not sure why AT&T gave us the ability to remove any apps at all if they were going to force us to leave this turd on there.
If its locked you need root to get rid of it.
I think that's one of the few you can just uninstall

Nah, I tried it. It's ROM locked. For some reason, that one and the NFS Shift demo are locked, but you can uninstall Family map and a few others. The problem with ready2go is that it autoruns periodically and it's not something you'll ever use again (if you even use it once).

Suspicious activity

Well I dont know if it was an app i downloaded or what because it did not start happening dirrectly after a download or installation but my phone about every week adds what appear to be app shortcuts to my desktop (launcher thing). one is titled Search and has a picture of the android guy. The other is always some game. These appear to be just links. Also in my notification bar, if i pull it down, there is an add there too. "Meet hot singles" was this week. Is there any app or method to detect which app is doing this? I already downloaded Adfree and Airblocker hoping that it would deny this suspicious activity.
You may need an app called AirPush detector. I would start there. Otherwise, retrace your steps and uninstall whatever you have only had on the phone for a little while
Or just wipe data and start fresh. Get rid of the junk you never use while your at it.
Or there's that
Well i have not tried the airpush detector and it is the kind of thing i wanted , i am considering wiping data soon too, i was thinking of doing that. I end up downloading so many programs and I'm like, I will so use this. Then i never use it.

[POLL] Tethering & AT&T Visual Voice Mail

Alright guys,
As most of you may already know, AT&T has been sending letters out claiming that users are tethering. I want to start a poll and see out of all you that received this letter or text. How many of you have AT&T Visual Voice Mail installed on your phone. Doesn't matter if you use it or not.
Reason being is that if you guys haven't seen the permissions for VVM this is what two of them are:
Network Communication:
View Network Connections
Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected
System Tools
Retrieve Running Apps
Allows the app to retrieve information about currently and recently running tasks. This may allow the app to discover information about which applications are used on the device
Reason for this poll is to see if VVM is what is notifying AT&T of the "Tethering" Activities.
To clarify on the poll answers:
If you have VVM frozen then consider it as not having it installed.
i use vvm. i used foxfi and got the letter. sad.

With AT&T VVM installed, I was using the built-in AOKP tethering and I got the letter.
I have VVM and have used the Clockworkmod Tether app, which does USB tethering, never gotten a letter.
Alright, you guys are going to love this. So I just called AT&T about the letter. I figured I'd stick with the "play dumb" approach. I said I didn't know what it was about and I couldn't figure out how to tether anyway. Blah blah blah.. he said that when tethering use is reported over the network, the technicians verify it through "multiple redundant verification". I told him that after we got the letter, I tried to see if I could tether and that my phone wouldn't let me. He then stated "well, there are lots of apps that can let you tether," and he proceeded to rattle off a prepared list of apps including FoxFi and a dozen or so others.
This is where it got interesting. He proceeded to tell me that according to their technicians, "You're not even using the stock firmware". I replied, "the what whatter?" (sticking with my "play dumb" approach) and he responded, "You know, the stock operating system that came with your phone or that AT&T updated over the air."
If you use their apps, they can see everything. And it can't be long before they figure out a way to see everything without secretly spying on you with an app.

This kind of meshes with a conversation I had the other day with my AT&T contact. He said that there's been a lot of effort lately put into finding rooted devices on the network and getting them off.
I think at this point we can safely say that any AT&T-provided stock app is to be considered spyware, and should be removed from the phone entirely (not frozen, deleted with phone caches wiped) the second you root.
That said, there's nothing stopping them from putting silent tracker apps elsewhere in the phone and hiding them completely. Here's the fun part: the contracts don't say anything about rooting the phone, do they? If they start kicking root users off the network or forcing us to change off of unlimited data because we've rooted our phone, they'd be begging for a class-action lawsuit.

Delete it entirely using Tibu. VVM is not a critical system process, and I don't trust that app at all.
I've been going through a lot of AT&T apps and most of them have the spyware on them.
As for being able to know if you are running stock firmware or not, I'm shocked to hear that.
As a community I think it's safe to say that no AT&T app can be trusted. They are using something to be able to gather information, we just have to figure out what it is.

It's pretty safe to assume that this and all current AT&T apps have spyware built in.
