[Q] Encapsulating case for Sensation? - HTC Sensation

Having had an Otterbox Defender for my old iPhone, I am hooked on the idea of getting a similar set up for my Sensation - especially since the case saved my phone from liquid damage a number of times!
Turns out no-one does one (as far as I can tell, anyway). Worse still, is that Otterbox apparently have no intention of doing one either! Take a look at this half-baked reply I got from Otterbox cust servs...
"Mike,
I love to hear how much of a fan you are of our products! Unfortunately we won’t be making a defender for the Sensation. We only offer the commuter case for that phone. I don’t have an exact reason why we will not be making one. If you have any other questions please let me know."
I'm guessing it might have something to do with the slight slope at the side of the glass??? Emphasis on the word guessing there! Either way, that was very bad news.
I've read all the reviews of the tougher cases on here which are all very useful, but just in case I've missed something, does anyone know of any defender-esque, fully encapsulating case for the Sensation? Or failing that, does anyone know if there might be one coming out soon?
Thanks loads,

[Q] New to inspire and droid OS

I'm sure this thread has been posted several times but here it goes. I'm new to the HTC inspire and android OS. I came from and iphone and I'm loving what I've seen so far with my new phone. What I haven't seen is a whole lot of loving from the accessory companies. What do you guys recommend for screen protectors and case protectors. Also will stuff for phones like the HTC desire work for the inspire? Any suggested apps for first time user.
Thanks
Max
Welcome brother. Anything for the DHD will work with the inspire.

There is a growing base of products for the Inspire. Check the Inspire Accessories forum. and as far as what to get for your phone it depends on the flavor you want? nakid or as close to nakid as possible? case? screen protectors? up to you! if you have questions feel free to pm i have been reading the accessories thread for a while, although I feel like i am squared away with what i have for my phone. (next purchase is a decent hip holster the $12 special just isn't going to cut it for very long! LOL)
Android OS**
Droid is a branding for verizion high end android phones. Android is then operating system powering the devices. Just annoying that people dont know this.
Anyways welcome the inspire is a beautiful device and most acessories for the desire hd will work with the inspire.
The best screen protector I have found is the realook one from amazon. It is truly invisible. As far as cases go u probably have to get one online, as all the accessory places in the mall and such are over saturated with iPhone accessories, but that's kinda how it goes for android. I personally would rather shop online as all the mall kiosks are really overpriced and all the iPhone people don't seem to mind.

Nexus S 4G Question

Hi all,
I have an EVO 4G and I have a Nexus S 4G on preorder. My question is when I get it, do you guys think the Nexus S 4G will require different cases than the regular Nexus S due to it's WiMax radio thickness difference? I think they said that the bulkiness was about the width of a credit card. How snug do your cases fit now? I know when I had my Invisi-Shield on my EVO it wouldn't fit in a case. Thanks for your help guys! Can't wait to start my pure Google experience!
There was another thread about this earlier but to anwer your question some said certain may work some may not. One guy said he stuck a credit card in with his nexus in his case and he said it fit ok. Don't remember which case he had. But honestly we probably won't know until the phone is released and people try cases. Personally I want the case mate or otterbox case with my nexus s when its released. Hopefully it fits. Hope this helps a bit.

So what will your next device be now that htc has been banned in the usa?

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/12/19/itc-sides-with-apple-in-patent-dispute-with-rival-htc/
I think ill go with the Samsung galaxy journal, that is, if it does come to verizon. That or any large screen phone with the latest processor and firmware.

There is only a ban on HTC phones that infringe on the patents. If HTC changes a few things then they will be back.

Old news.
Only affected HTC devices running android 2.2 or before. None still do.
I wouldn't consider Fox News and expert on this stuff either.

HTC isn't going anywhere, they'll make the necessary changes and continue to take more and more of the market away from apple. Apple just can't face the fact that they are the inferior ones now

This.
Likelihood that HTC stops selling phones in the US is less than 1%.
I think I'm going to stick with htc, but if i must, I'm going Google, want that freedom and support.

Most likely stay with HTC I like their well built feel due to using metal instead of plastic, seems to take more punishment, though if Samsung came out with something amazing I would consider it, I don't like the feel of their flimsy plastic materials but that can be resolved with a case, which I always put on my phones anyway.

Yea my dInc was a tough cookie, no case or screen protector the entire time I owned it, millions of drops, one nick. The guy that bought it said it gave it personality. Miss it though.

Choosing between the One S and Samsung Blaze

I've searched far and wide but it doesn't seem there are any proper comparisons between these two phones. I'd like to hear from those who have used both.
I have both phones new in front of me (ebay). The HTC one S wins in the pretty contest by a longshot. Metal body > plastic/rubber.
But on the flipside, the one S seems a bit too large (screenwise) to comfortably type with one hand and pull down the notification bar. The blaze is much easier to handle.
So besides the casing quality, is there a reason the One S is better? The audio and video sound/look roughly the same when I play youtube videos concurrently. Will I get used to the slippery tall body? Will a giztronic case help with the hand-hold, or does that just make it wider?
After rooting/romming, the blaze has reported to last 1.5 days on battery. I've heard the one s is better, but how much?
Thanks!
EDIT: made thread title duller.
I'd like to say one thing based on your title "Convince me to keep the One S over the samsung Blaze". It's not a sales job. If you don't want the One S, then you are free to choose so. It's not like we care if you get it or not.
HTC > Samsung when it comes to material/design.
Watch reviews on both phones. If you ask about a One S in the One S forum, of course people will tell you to get it.
Overall, you choose. Not our job to convince you.

No need for the negativity.
I'm asking for comparison opinions. And yes I can read that this is a One S forum, that's why I posted here.

Not being negative. Trying to show you that your title throws people off. If you reworded it as "Help choosing between a One S or Samsung Blaze", then that would be another story. Saying "Convince me" makes you seem entitled and that we should care whether you stay or leave.
The processor on the one s is also better, screen us higher res and the camera is better. U am not sure if the blaze runs ics but one s should have ics and hopefully soon jelyly hean.

The One S got both ICS and JB, its had ICS for a very long time. JB is still quite new though.
Then we got AOSP roms which brings it up to JB 4.2 if you want.
As for the OP's question... Im not even gonna bother answering that, its just pointless.
Buy whatever you want - no one can tell you what to buy. And since this is the S forum, obviously the majority of us favors the S over any other device.
If you are buying htc one s be careful and buy S4 version of it.
I thought the same thing about the screen and one hand with the One S. After like a week or two, it feels perfect. Not big at all, and very comfortable to type on 1 hand. No issues pulling notification bar down either.
If I were you, I'd go with the One S.
That's my 2 cents.

After using the one s a couple days, I agree. I'm keeping the one s.
What did it in for me was the sound quality with headphones.
The blaze has the mediocre speaker and headphone quality I've come to accept from smartphones. The One S's speaker is only marginally better, but with headphones... fantastic! I get no background static or "white noise" with my high quality IEMs. I can use Tune-in, Pandora, etc.. over my MP3 player without a trade off in sound quality.
That was the kind of answer I was looking for. Thanks Syntax for playing along with my "pointless" thread.
EDIT: One knock on the One S, the screen is much more vulnerable to small scratches from phantom sources. My phone went from mint to well used in only a couple hours of using my finger.
do you have sand paper for fingers?
I have maybe 3 very minor scratches that you can only see with the screen off and turning the phone to try and find them, and i've owned it over 5 months without a screen protector...
I had the same choice with T-Mobile and I would be lost without my One S... Much better phone
Go buy a zagg screen protector and you wont have to worry about scratches or anything within reason messing up your screen.:good:
and this is not a pointless thread, its a valid question

All i can say is WOW...

long time htc user here (eris, rezound, dna, etc) and wow... this phone is by far the best htc much less phone ive ever had in my hand.. with xposed no need to even rom.. (though still love our devs!) lightning fast stock (doesn't even need to be debloated but of course did)
i know this has been stated many times, but i just wanna say it again, this device is beast!
I agree best phone I've ever used. I'll be honest it didn't give me the same feeling I had when I first held the galaxy nexus but that metal back though. Amazing

I've had a couple of HTC's (Og EVO, LTE) and this phone far surpassed those. I was on a Nexus 4 for the past year or so and stock Android was very simple, but I like what they've done with Sense 6. Very happy with my purchase so far.
Wow

This is my first non motorola android phone.......not looking back. This thing is GREAT!!!!!!
I got the HTC Incredible 2 as my first phone and since I didn't know anything about Android at the time I got it based on reviews not knowing each manufacturer was different. Then I got the DNA because it was the best Verizon phone at the time. (Not a fan of Samsung's cheap feel and hate Touch wiz) Then I got the M8 for close to same reason.
HTC just keeps finding new ways to reel me back in. Loving this phone so much. In my opinion Sense is the best version of Android aside from fully working Cyanogenmod.

First time HTC guy here. Left Samsung because of all the lockdown crap. And I agree, WOW this is one awesome device !
It was either the m8 or the Dev Ed moto x on a whim I got the m8 (will arrive Friday ) I thought I had royally screwed up until I seen that there's root and s-off and after reading all of your comments y'all have reassured me ! I hope that development picks up I know the m8 is new but I've been spoiled with the RAZR maxx HD (current phone ) having like every ROM and recovery ported to the thing lol ...rant over thanks
Every smartphone I've owned with the exception of the Razr Maxx HD previous to this one had been an HTC (starting with the WinMo XV6800). HTC keeps producing phones like this I will never stray again.

Great thread. Glad to see people showing some love for this phone. I've had this since launch day. I looked at the S5 when it launched a couple of weeks later. While the screen looks amazing and there are some improvements to Touchwiz, it doesn't compare to the M8.
First time HTC owner here too. Coming from the Galaxy Nexus which i liked but was getting long in the tooth. Learning curve with the HTC to pick up how to do a lot of things but wow, i really am enjoying the smoothness and functionality of this phone!
this phone is amazing in my eyes i have 2 of em one to test roms and one as personal and its fin awesome way better then the S5 i mean really S5 is what its all cracked up to be all we need now is a lifeproof case for our m8s and we'd be golden
HTC will now be the smartphone I've owned the most. I have had the iPhone and the Galaxy but they both fail in comparison next to HTC's M8. Not only is the phone built like a tank its onboard software has been the most aesthetically pleasing out of all the android phones i have used topping stock android. They have managed to tone down the user interface and created a software that in my opinion should be what google strives to be more like. My only wish is that google and HTC would partner up to make the best smartphone together.

True, but you never know what other defects a refurb will have.
That said, I've never understood why people go for giant cases. The shock absorption and protection of a slim TPU case is all you really need to prevent shattering your screen. I've yet to break one.

The slim cases do not offer as much protection. I have a few family members that have cracked their screen with various slim cases.

I've gone naked on every smartphone I've owned. They have all been in great condition.

I cannot imagine what sort of drops you'd have to perform to break a screen through a typical lipped TPU case. My GS3 withstood *many* drops on concrete (sidewalk, street, basement) while outfitted with a diztronic TPU case while receiving absolutely no damage. The case got a little dinged up though.
Who knows maybe I'm just lucky!
