Hello...
couple a days ago i bought Moto Defy 3500mAh Extended Battery from amazon. and as the guild said '' Charge the battery for more than 12h to get the extended life for 5-6 cycle ...
and its done ..today after charging at 100% i checked battery calibration and its showed 100% 4183 mV
same day after heavy usage battery went to 1% and i kept using my phone until maybe its shut down 1h passed but nothing happened went again to battery calibration and its 3873 mV and its at 1% ?!! while writing this i checked again and this time its shows 3915 mV and its keeping going up bit by bit as i left my phone idle ?! any idea how to make it reading the battery status right ?! or maybe the motorola defy is sat to read 1500mAh battery only ?!
a lot of the batteries are generic on amazon. zcell by laza are actually really good batteries. they are on amazon. i dont know if they make them for the moto defy but the zcells are the only ones ive noticed to be accurate capacity. I dont think these phones are programmed to know if a larger capacity battery is in it. Im not 100% sure though.
its by CellularFactory people gave it 5 star's
any help ?!

Hi guys
I should be picking up my SGS2 today and I was just wondering what exactly I should be doing with the battery? I've read in a bunch of places that draining the battery fully and then recharging it fully gives better battery life, but I've also read this:
Lithium ion batteries do not respond well to full discharge, you will see reduced capacity and early failure if it happens too often. In any case it is not possible to overcharge the battery on a BlackBerry because the battery and phone have enough intelligence to control the charge (unless the battery is already defective).

(this is from crackberry.com but you get the idea)
What's the best thing to do?
And on Android phones, when the battery indicator shows 20% or something, is that when the phone is going to die? Or will it die at 0%? Obviously at 20% it would be to protect the battery but maybe Android has been programmed to show 0% when the battery is actually at 20%.
Thanks,
Elliott
read manuals !!!!!! You can see this
Did not receive an owners manual with my phone. Anyway...phone is charging now so too late I guess...

The manual is probably stored on the phone, at least my new Ascend II came with its stored on the phone, you have to goto the big menu (forgive me for not knowing the technical term for it) to find it however
i got my battery fully charged...then in the first day i discharged it till 10% at least that's what my phone was saying
i read too that the new li-ion batteryes do not need to be "formated" (fully discharged till the phone dies and then fully charged with the phone turned off) in android case i think that thing is not posible coz it needs at least 5% to pass the bootloader and then begin to charge
anyway in my manual it says that the battery will begin the normal state after 8 days of use, until then it may disschage quick
i have a motorola defy
Calibrate the battery. Charge the phone while its switched off for about 6 hours, and then use the phone untill the entire battery runs out and it switches off on its own. After this, the phone should be able to use the battery properly.
i just used my galaxy and made it empty, then charged it full.
nowadays i have runtimes from 3days (72 hours) and then its @ about 5%
there seems to be a lot of back-and-forth regarding whether or not draining a battery is healthy; i drain my iphone battery down to zero about once a month and the battery has been doing fine for two years . . . whether it would be doing just as well without the draining time is anyone's guess.
I have always been under the impression that lit-ion batteries do not need any kind of special care or break in. But since our phones estimate the charge, we should occasionally let the battery run out to reset the calibration in case it gets screwed up.

I don't think you need to worry about draining the battery till it's dead. My phone dies often and the battery is still kickin It's my understanding, that the purpose of draining the phone before you charge it is to calibrate what the OS says for charge remaining to the battery's actual charge.
Or something like that...
Hi all,
I have my sgs 2 since June and it's working pretty well apart from the battery drain which is very harmful in my daily life
I've recently flashed the Cognition 1.30 (last friday). Before that, my sgs was able to last the entire day before discharging with a moderate use (10-20 mn on games, few sms, 15 mn consulting mails, 1 hr on internet). Since i've flashed with the cognition Rom, the battery drain is really awesome!!!!!!
I fully charge the phone (switched off) then when i switch it on and the phone stays idle, after 1 hr or so, i've already lost almost 20%. When i'm on internet or playing games, the battery loss is approximatively of 1% per min.
I've made a full wipe and recalibrated my battery so normally it should at least last a day and thats not the case.
Could somebody help me or should i buy a new battery and test it ?
Because i relly like this rom and from others users, it has a good feedback concerning the battery use
I just bought a 1900mAh battery off ebay, and it came from china, so Im unsure if it's really 1900mAh, because my 1520mAh weighs more...
How can I check if it really is 1900mAh?
I think that the only way to do that is to fully charge the battery then drain it fully while measuring the current and see if it would last for 2hrs if the current is 950mA. Thats the way I did a few battery checks while I was studying (telecommunications). But everything is done out of the phone, exept the charging. Hope it gave you an idea how it is done.
I was reading around the forum and through all the things about extended batteries and stuff to decide that I was going to buy the Mugen 3200mAh one.
My question is Droidzone has this thing called "EBatt/EBFix=Droidzone's fix for Extended Batteries". Do I need that for my extended battery or will it have no problems with charging? I believe his fix is set for 2400mAh but mine is 3200mAh.
I put in my extended battery and it was at 0% charge, only thing I notices was Battery Widget Widget Pro didn't know how many mAh so I assume neither does the phone (because its not an official HTC battery).
I'm doing what the Mugen User Guide is telling me, which is to charge the phone for 8-12 hours even if it shows full charge for the first 4-5 times.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm assuming that the battery will charge but take a longer time to charge but will still show 100% (also will the battery % be completely wrong all the time because the phone doesn't understand the maximum capacity is greater now).
So back to my initial question, do I need to flash a extended battery fix kernel or just calibrating the batteries should work?
As far as extended batterys go, yes you need a kernal which supports it. I'm shopping around for a Yoobao battery and I'm finding out which kernal I need which will support the information for the battery.

Any luck on finding one? So the battery won't charge to full capacity without the appropriate kernel?
With the kernels I've only found droidzone and I don't particular have the time to test all the different kernels on my phone.
I tried doing the full charge without using a different kernel, I will see the results of this soon hopefully.
It should charge to full but you won't see the real capacity.

Mine charges to 54% then jumps 100$. It doesn't seem to be giving me the full amount I expected. It charged more once for an hour or two after I let it get to 99% then switched off and charged again. Then booted and let it hit 99% and repeated the process about 3 times. Then I wiped battery stats. Now I'm letting it relearn the whole battery thing. It's dropping fast right now... But I think a few full charge cycles are required.
No. You do.not need a special kernel. Mugen battery's are made to.be used with nonroot phones.

I am using MIUI 2.2.10 with Faux kernel, and have seen a severe battery drain issue. Before when i was on stock, i had the issue where Cell Standby would drain most of the battery. When i switched to MIUI, somehow that problem dissapeared. But now, i have been using the phone for 6 hours, most of it just texting, and when I started I was fully charged. Now I am at 29%. I checked the Battery Stats and it said Display was taking up 73% of this battery drain. I have no idea what could possibly be causing this because i had the brightness on low, and yet i played music for 30 minutes and that didn't even show up on the list of things draining the battery. Could someone explain this to me?
First off how low is low?
It may not show music, it isn't that draining. Display is a big one, it will eat the heck out of your battery. Either start carrying your cable with you everywhere, or get the 3500 MAh battery.

I had it on low as in the very lowest, and how much money is the 3500 mah battery?

Here is a link to a thread about the 3500mAh Battery.
I personally think it looks really bulky and ugly.
There are other alternatives like extended bateries that fit the original phone backcover. I would check the Accessories section for more info.
Here is the link to the "better" alternative in my opinion.

.I purchased a 3500 mah battery and am loving it. I the only problem I'm having is that when. I turn off my phone, and the battery still drains... It lost 70 percent in 8 hours while it was fully powered off.... I don't know why

Faulty battery.
The % in the Battery Stats is not how much battery is used. The screen at 73% means it was on 73% of the 6 hours which is 4.38 hours of the 6. If you add all the numbers in Battery stats it will be over 100.

but the stock battery had the same problem.
I bought a new battery for my oneplus one from vifocal.com and I think its original battery. The battery seems to be very poor. I use my phone for 1,5 hours from which the screen is on for about 1 hour and the battery has drained down to 50%. Yesterday as my phone went to zero I turned it on in recovery mode to keep the screen on as long as possible to really kill the battery and the screen stayed on for at least 2 hours. How is that possible if the battery indicator shows already 0%. Anyways I believe the battery drops down to 0% even really there is a lot of juice in the battery. Is there anyway to calibrate the battery so it would show the correct percentage and is there anyway to tell how big is the battery really? whether I got a fake one or not. thanks

I've had an opposite issue few times - phone was shutting down while it was show that it still had battery (20% was the worst case). I fixed it by discrharging fully, then letting the phone charge all trough the night. this was the recommendation that I found on OPO forums from someone from their team.
