Best ROM? - Captivate General

Just got a Captivate for my son. I have an SGII myself with a custom ROM but not really sure which is the best one for the Captivate? By best I mean in terms of stability and battery life.

I have a personal preference for firefly(if you don't mind froyo).
But if you want gingerbread, try MaxQ.
Both are extremely stable and just work.

"Best" ROMs are very subjective, these threads do not end well.

[Q] Opinion needed

So im converting my mom to a thunderbolt from a blackberry, and i was wondering your guys opinion. Of course most people here are goin to prefer the stock android experience compared to the sense. But for a woman who is relatively un-tech savy, would you guys recommend a Vallina Rom or a more stock one closer to the sense experience, for the best user experience?

I bet a very basic user would appreciate the polished sense look. Their widgets look great and serve the basic needs of a user like your mom.

+1, I would have to agree here. I'm biased though, as I have only owned sense phones. Of course, CM is nice and that is what I ran on my eris.

I kinda disagree..I think most of us do prefer Sense over vanilla. (as shown on a recent poll on droidlife too).
Sense not only gained more votes than stock android.. but it also surpassed the competition (like touchwiz and motoblur) by significant numbers.
You will love Sense.
It's all what you like best. Everyone here has their own preference on setups, icons, themes, kernels, roms, etc... Try them both out for a couple days to a week and see which one you like the best, and suits your needs the most.
alright well i guess well my next question would be, do u think das bamf or just a stock debloated one would be best considering user experience is the highest priority. So I guess what im trying to say the one with the least bugs and most stability.

I know this and i know what i prefer the most which is speed, i dont really care about a shiny pretty interface with beautifl widgets. But my mom is obviously different and I'm going to be goin in a few days so i just wanna make sure shes setup before i leave.

My 2 cents worth.. go with Stock .. for a while at least.. It is fast and stable and you'll see how zippy it is compared to a lot of custom roms. Form your benchmark with stock first and then when you run custom rom's you'll see the improvement/depreciation in speed and response.
I haven't had a single reboot/gps issue after going back to stock.. also when you go to a themed rom, remember that it slows down the "zippiness" unless the kernel is tweaked .. which mean it could be draining your battery more..There is a reason why Sense and a lot of apps are monochromatic for the most part.
there are pros and cons to everything.. you'll have to try it all out and see what you like best.. that's the beauty of android .. you have choices

What is the best rom for Htc Hero?

Been using Kimera for awhile now and it is very fast and I was happy with it. But looking to update now so what do you guys think?
You would get a better response if you posted on the HTC Hero forum located here but from my experience with using multiple Android handsets, CyanogenMod ROMs are a pretty safe bet when it comes to reliability, performance, and battery life.

What is best for me may not be for you, said that there is no such "best ROM"

Favorite Things about ICS Roms

Hello everybody. I am interested in flashing a custom ICS rom and I was interested to know something people have really liked in ICS as compared to Gingerbread or other OSes, such as general performance or battery life or whatever.
Battery life seems a lot better to me than GB ROMs. My personal favorite has to be the updated keyboard. Auto correct and suggestions are much better now. The overall look and feel is a big step up from Gingerbread (AOSP at least, anyway).

Just my opinion

So all the time I see people on here post "what's the best ROM?" Well the simple answer is none. There's non such thing as best. If you talking terms of stability and lack of bugs tho then there's your question.
Rephrase your questions when asking about ROMs. Tastes differ and so do opinions what might be awesome for one person might feel crappy to another. Therefore there's no ROM people can say is the "best".
I personally have tried at least 8 or more ROMs for the sk4g and 12 for the amaze. Anyway, my dd for my sk4g has been smooth maximus ginger clone by ay0teddy with v6 supercharger flashed with the framework from smooth maximus x, the blaze 4g modem and, nxd's kernel. I have had limited problems using this combo. And I like the feel and look of everything. That's just my opinion. Thought I would share.

Fast food nation, bro.

Which Rom to use?

There are many Roms out there and I am unsure which are the best. Could you guys recommend me two, one based off of features and the other based solely on battery life and performance? Also, do we get more battery life with a custom ROM or stock?
Well, in my opinion, after having flashed roms since owning an S2+, I can safely say that the battery life on a good custom rom can be better than the stock one (the "can" depends on how the user tweaks it"). The best available roms for the S8+ available now are, in my (repeat "my") honest opinion, Renovate Ice 9.1 and Alexis S9 port. For the last 2-3 weeks I had been using it, ans now I've switched to Alexis.
