[Q] Problems with ClockWork Samsung Infuse - Samsung Infuse 4G

I tried putting clockwork recovery onto my Samsung Infuse. I Installed it through a ROM Manager and now everytime i go into the ROM manager and select it to boot into recovery it boots into android system recovery. I cannot get to the Modified Recovery needed to install a cutom ROM.
What do i need to do to get CWM to work?

Flash the community kernel via ODIN

Option 1:
1.-Download Sgs Kernel installer
2.- Download a Kernel with modified cwm included ( here one choice: http://www.multiupload.com/1E3AWIQYAA <--If you are on Froyo;
http://www.multiupload.com/6ZVYU3F106<-- If you are on Gingerbread) The links ARE NOT mine are gtgx.
3.-Put the kernel in your sd card.
4.-Open sgs kernel flasher and select the kernel.
It will reboot and convert your data to ext4 and also give you modified red cmw ready to install custom roms. It will take about 5 minutes be patient.
Option 2:
1.- Download the Defuse 1.5 one click kernel from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381 (link NOT mine)
2.- Put your phone into download mode
3.- Run the file you downloaded it will do the work for you.

Find Odin preset with 3e and root. Follow directions and run odin properly with phone in download mode (explained in odin post). After that you will be rooted with modded 3e recovery. Then you can download rom manager when the phone reboots and flash for galaxy i9000, reboot into recovery and reinstall packages. You should be able to reinstall packages now since odin set up your recovery. It sounds like you aren't able to put the modded recovery in the system/bin folder; same thing happened to me. I had root, but could not modify the recovery file in system/bin. Odin is a charm, if I had the money I would donate to the guy who made it, unfortunately I don't at the moment. Odin says phone should show as com## yet mine showed as com0 and still worked. Probably depends on which USB port you use. Odin takes about 10 minutes to flash your phone but it will be worth it when you are done. I was skeptical because of the steps but it is very easy, once you get your phone into download mode its a breeze. PLEASE HAVE A FULL CHARGE WHEN YOU DO ANY FLASHING. If your phone dies you can have serious problems during the flash.

thank you all, I am going to try these once I get my internet restored.... this is kinda agony since my t1 line died....

[Q] My samsung infuse 4G, will not allow me to remove 3e recovery??

I have the samsung infuse 4g and I have tried the methods in these forums to replace the 3e recovery with the modified version that allows unsigned zips...but when i replace the reovery file in system/bin/ nothing happens it does not change the recovery at all and it will not accept unsigned...I also tried the odin flasher to put a infused kernal on it and it bricked my phone twice, but I used g2g's ultimate unbrick and it works excellent...what can I do???
PS: I am rooted and used root explorer to replace the recovery file!
EDIT: I did change the permissions, and when I try flashing clockwork mod recovery from rom manager it does not do it...also when im in the 3e recovery there is no option for re-install packages...there is restart phone where that is..help?

Did you change the permissions? Rename the original to something like "recovery.bak." You also need to install clockwordmod from the Rom Manager app(get it from the market) After that boot into recovery and select the "reinstall packages" twice, which should get you into green CWM.

i have some problem
use for copy file recobery "root browser" not "root explorer"
I you are rooted and on stock froyo, use SGS kernel flasher from the market. Use it to flash the community kernel v8. That will give you modified 3e recovery, and in my opinion its the easiest method.
PS. It will take about 10 mins to flash this first kernel because it has to change the partitions to ext4.
You can find detailed instructions in gtgs infused v2 rom.

not exactly,
it will give you cwm recovery voodoo lagfix edition and eliminate 3e recovery all together.
3e is stock recovery for froyo and gb on Samsung phones. what I must ask the op is what OS version and what carrier are you on?
edit: if that's a Rogers infuse as I see you are on Rogers then you may need to use a custom kernel to use cwm. take your pick of any gb kernel, they are all built on Rogers sources.

[Q] Splash screen only: now what?

Haven't decided whether to flash a new ROM, but I wanted CWM recovery so I could wipe battery stats to improve battery performance like I did on my MyTouch 3g. I rooted my Galaxy S 4g and followed the "[RECOVERY]CWM FINAL for the SGS4G" instructions exactly. I downloaded the recovery file and used File Expert to place it in the /system/bin folder. I didn't delete anything (I DID save a copy of the original file), just let it overwrite. I downloaded the update.zip file and placed it in the root of my SD card.
I rebooted and now I can only get to the splash screen, whether I just power it up or hold down both volume buttons and the power button to try to get into recovery. I can get into download mode so I downloaded Odin and it recognizes my phone. I'm pretty sure I can restore from here and will look for instructions on the site, but I would rather just restore the original recovery file first (if it's possible) to see if that works.
Question: Can I use Odin to restore just the original recovery file? If not, is there another way it can be done considering that I can only get into download mode?
You can't (to my knowledge) use ODIN to deal with individual files like that. You could download the android SDK from www.android.com, install it, install only the 'tools' module (else you download and install all of the different sdk versions for the platform as well as other stuff), and use adb to move the file back into place.
I'm sure someone here probably has a mo-better way, though.
I was spending too much time on this so I decided to flash another ROM. GB ROMs gave me the rainbow bootloop so I flashed stock FROYO (thanks, krylon360) successfully. I'll worry about GB, rainbows, and bootloaders later when I have more time, but I still want CWM recovery. Any ideas as to why it didn't work (see OP)?
To get rid of rainbow screen just odin the kg4 leak. Then Odin one of Dr honks gb kernels to get cwm.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
GB ROMs will do that if you don't first flash one with the correct boot loaders. KG4 was the first GB ROM to have the right ones.
I'm not sure what happened with your initial attempt to get CWM working, though. I've never attempted it that way; I've always flashed one of drhonk's GB kernels.

[Q] P6800 ROM Questions

Recently I hard-bricked my Tab whilst installing a Rom on it (Brick Bug). Now I have a replacement, and it's about time I replaced the HC with something else.
I plan to use the 'Singha ROM ICS P6800DXLP7' ROM and ' Dedraks' GT-P6800' kernel. I'm guessing installation for both is via CWM, but that is how I bricked my tab last time. How can I work around this as to not brick it again? Odin? Which do I install first? Any guidance would really be appreciated!
Thanks
Which cwm you using that cause it to brick?
Share some detail procedure...wipe on stock rom, custom rom, kernel...etc which end with brick?
For now I believe safe atm..
- From stock ICS
- Root with this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849235
- Install cwm using Mobile Odin
- Boot to cwm recovery
- Flash custom rom and custom kernel
- Reboot recovery NOT reboot system.
- Full wipe and fix permission
- Reboot system to home screen
That what I always do
Here's what works for me
first, d/l CWM to SD card.
then power down.
reboot into download mode ,PC Odin is my install of choice for the roms...
then power down again after the new rom installs and re-boots
re-boot into recovery and choose install zip from SD and choose CWM (which is a temporary install)
dont wipe anything, just choose to install zip and then choose your new kernel.
After kernel (a safe one) installs, then re-boot system.
Ive never bricked this tab or my GN7000 Note
good luck
correct me if im wrong, but as long as you do not factory reset in stock ics recovery you are okay. Right?
Some Note GT 7000 guys reported that they bricked their phablets by copping large files (being on ICS). If this doesn't affect our P6800s, then you are not wrong.
I had installed LQ2 without wiping anything. But had many Screen Offs and Shut Downs, so I considered to risk the clean install.
Did it with Mobile Odin Pro, but first
Ensured that I already have CWM 6.0.0.1
Flashed Dedraks Kernel.
In Mobile Odin chosen "open file..." and then the particular md5 file,
BUT EXCLUDED:
1. Kernel
2. Recovery
Then I selected "wipe" and "clean", crossed my fingers and everything went OK.
Not quite everything, because I lost root, although I am pretty sure that I did not unselect "everroot'.
It was not a big issue. Installed again "root.zip" via CWM recovery.
Its about a week since then and I have nothing to complain.
...
Thanks for the responses guys.
Does this sound safe?:
Flash LQ2 via PC Odin
Root from universal recovery
Flash CWM 6.0.11 via PC Odin
Flash Dedraks Kernel via CWM
Then root again if needed.
Thanks

Yeah, with these steps you should be safe.
Happy flashing

Why does Odin say passed, but CWM not there?

Ok, so i installed rom manager to install CWM, then i used odin to flash CWM touch, and it passed, rebooted phone fine, but when i enter recovery its the stock recovery, not CWM, any idea?
I cannot provide insight on why Odin did not successfully flash the CWM recovery as I have not flashed anything but official software with Odin but I highly reccommend using the app in the playstore called GS3 E Z Recovery to flash a custom recovery (after you have unlocked of course).
This is the cleanest way to do it IMHO.

Because there are two scripts that need to be renamed. They replace the custom recovery with the stock recovery on every reboot. They are
System/recovery-from-boot.p
System/etc/install-recovery.sh
These need to be renamed with
.bak added to the end of them. Then u can flash CWM with odin and it will stick once u boot up.
You can also flash CWM and not let the phone boot up and then mount /system and use adb to rename the files. Whatever works best for you.

Why did you use Odin if you already used Rom Manager? Rom manager will completely take care of recovery for you. Like others, I've only used Odin to go completely back to stock.
Open Rom Manager, and click the top "flash cwm recovery" for the regular version, or even better click the flash cwm touch version (donate like 1.99 I think). Done
And FYI, there are lots of problems with ez-recovery versions....I'd stay away from it for now.....

There's no issues with EZ Recovery that I've run into. Its the EZ-Unlock that the newest versions don't work right, you have to use 1.2.
OP, here's the link to the latest CWM Touch that can be flashed with EZ Recovery(I just did it yesterday and it worked fine) https://www.dropbox.com/s/aqnnl5j8xc2u0ah/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.1.2-d2vzw.img
I agree with brian, use ez recovery to flash recovery of choice. Stay away from rom manager or any of those apps until you have a better idea of what your doing.

[Q] Can't install CWM recovery

Hello.
I'v trouble for instaling CWM recovery.
That is what i'v try to do:
-Install CWM from Rom manager
Does'nt work. Phone still boot on original recovery mode
-Install 3e modded recovery before install CWM from rom manager
Doesn't work. Can't copy "recovery" to /system/bin. (Using terminal emulator / root browser / file explorer )
-Install CWM with Odin using this trhead:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578555
Can't progress: Link for download "2013.04.30-CWM-Synthesis-1.2Ghz.zip" forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25724638 is broken.
Please help :/
I just want to install a custom rom to get android 4.x

If you are on gingerbread or lower, download SGS Kernel Flasher free from Play Store. The CWM Synthesis 1.2 Ghz link is working and this is the one I always use! Select flash zip and let it flash for about 20 minutes and that's it! U must have over 80% battery or you're dead
If still not working, try Odin back to stock with root from this link: U must have Samsung drivers installed on PC first.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705260
Then SGS Kernel Flasher+CWM synthesis!
Ah, sorry, i've forgot to update my post.
Yesterday,
I tried ODIN to get CWM and 2.3 GB beside but my infuse get bricked... (Option C, in infuse 4G dev' forum )
In fact, it was stuck on samsung logo while booting, after the flashing
I've tried one-click unbrick, and, curiously, despite the "successfully unbricked" status, my phone get hard bricked.
It don't boot at all. lol
I laughed...
So...Can i send my phone to service center or something like that ? Or, it's dead for ever ? :'o
PS: Sorry for my english, again. I'll try to do my best.
Clarification

Does flashing CWM synthesis with SGS Kernel Flasher require modded recovery file in sytem/bin. On my rooted (Framaroot) GB2.3.6 UCLB3 Infuse there is no recovery file in system/bin and all other files in this directory are grayed out .Copy recovery file to System/bin fails even though the file system is mounted RW. Thanks. ff I am in the wrong area, apologies.

No! If you're on stock gb with root, sgs kernel flasher from Play Store basically flashes the clockwork mod (cwm) aka gb recovery on your infuse to allow flashing of roms via recovery! So no need for any additional steps if you have a stock gb infuse 4g with root
