I figured people could post here to let other Charge users know when it starts rolling out

Forgot to add that the update is supposed to begin Monday night (today) or Tuesday (tomorrow)

I heard it's supposed to start rolling out tomorrow. I'm not sure how many people will actually go back to stock to receive this update. I am going to wait until an official ROM is released. Danalo has a Humble test rom based on the OTA posted on his twitter.
Yeah most people probably won't. I did just to see what the updates will be like but I'll most likely go back to a custom rom after.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
I do know that Verizon does roll out earlier than the date specified. But, you have to know that the amount of people of this thread only makes up a small amount of the total of Charge users.
I might revert and download the OTA just to see what its like then root and debloat to test for bugs/stability

When someone does get the OTA I would like to know if is any different than the leaked OTA package.

I was wondering the same thing. It'd be great if someone who knows could post the answer here

I'm sure my wife will text me on what to do if she gets the notification. I'll post if she does.
A coworker in my office runs a stock Charge and he hasn't seen the update yet. He tried checking for an update but it said his phone was already up to date.
Its supposedly starting at noon and since Verizon is based in NJ it will most likely be eastern time. So people should start getting it in a half hour.

Thanks, I'm used to Sprint updates which start at midnight.
I'm installing the stock odin now. As soon as I get a update I will post it. I'm on the East Coast so maybe I will be one of the first. I do admit I am not lokingforward to looking at poo colors.
Still no updates. People on the Verizon forums are going crazy because no one has received it yet.

Ok I'm back to stock and knee deep in the color of poo.
Do you all think that the dev that helped with the stock color theme may be color blind?
11:02 here in Hawaii so it's 4pm on the East Coast, still no update yet.
$20 says it get's pulled lol.

So far I don't think anyone has received the OTA yet, according to the many posts of people frantically awaiting its arrival on the Verizon forums.

So the word on Droid Life is that gingerbread will be dropping during Q2. This came from an email sent by HTC.
My question is: is it a good idea to go ahead and root now or just wait a couple months and see what happens?

TBH is stirring up some gingerbread talk on Twitter. Some sort of release to droiders... Might have to take the dx back from the gf for some gb flashing inn a few days.

I'd say rollout will begin June 17, 2011. We all should have known it wouldn't likely come this week because it didn't already leak out. The OTAs for android phones always seem to appear before the official updates begin.
Edit: I would absolutely love to be wrong this time.

what everyone fails to realize is they said it would be out by summer they didnt ever specify summer 2011 so it could be summer 2011 or summer 2015. like with HTC when the announce their bootloaders would be unlocked from now on that didnt say that the sensation and other phones released soon would be unlocked no...
6/20/11... last official day of spring. (before summer)

uhhh... we've had the leak for a while now. although we don't think it was anything final. That told me that it was close a month ago.

That's my point, it wasn't the final. It didn't fix the software bugs and only included the stock Android camera app. I don't think LG is going to ditch their wonderful camera app, so when that's included along with a much needed baseband update, we'll know we have our final leak.
What I think happened based on what people (including "insiders") have said on many forums, is that Gingerbread was ready and being tested for the G2x before the phone even launched. However, when it came out and they learned of all the bugs, they had to go back to the drawing board a bit. Then there was the issue of whether to do two separate updates, one for the bugs that the O2x received, and one to give us Gingerbread. Looks like they chose to bundle them together. The update has to be coming soon and will likely be preloaded on the new G2x units when T-Mobile finally gets them back in stock on their website.
i'll bet harold camping knows when it's being released.
can i get 2 guesses. or well predictions.
1) will come out when the numbers crunchers decide its time. its about marketing and thats it.
2)it will be a piece of crap but hopefully have a good baseband and drivers so people that actaully know how to make a bug free rom can do so.
ok i want 3.

Interestingly enough, I decided to do some snooping of my own. I started by chatting up a rep on verizonwireless.com and found out little helpful. The did make one statement that took me by surprise. I was hoping for a release date and expecting next to nothing. What I got was a surprised response from the rep that I should have already received the update. She verified with a friend/neighbor of hers there and she said he has a TB and it received the Gingerbread update a week ago. She advised me to try a local Verizon Wireless store.
I went to the store yesterday afternoon and they said that the Gingerbread updated for the Thunderbolt was released 3 weeks ago! I was very surprised at this news considering I hadn't heard it anywhere else. He went through the motions of checking for an update on the device (which I had already done) to no avail. The update, he said, is not available online. It has to be updated OTA. I was then advised to give it a little more time because they're staggering the updates but to call Google or HTC directly if I still didn't receive it in a few days to a week.
So, not wanting to wait another week just to be told to wait another week, I went ahead and called HTC. I got a support rep on the phone very easily. They actually have really nice technical support. I told the rep about my predicament. and he did a little checking in his system. Finally I got an actual date of release. According to his system, the update was released on May 18th. I asked again if he was referring to the Gingerbread update or the Froyo update and he said Gingerbread. Once again, I was told that the updates are being delivered in a staggered order so it's tough to say when I will actually get the update. He also verified that as of right now, the only way to get it is OTA. There is no update that can be downloaded from HTC's web site.
If anyone has any other information, please let me know.
The update that was released then was a fix it patch to Froyo.

Whats weird is yesterday early morning I looked for a update and it said it there was but then I had to take a phone , lost signal and it never came up again.
Yesterday Slayher tweeted that the next tb rom fixes all known, root exploits. I would guess that for him to say something as a matter of fact like that would indicate someone has a leak and that it's already confirmed to be true.

Definitely looks like it's incredibly likely they corrected the trick to flash back to MK2 after updating like we could with the leaked 4.4 build.
Differences?

Do we know yet if there are any major differences between the leaked build and the official OTA build? If not, I would just flash the leaked one instead of going with the official AT&T route. If there aren't too many bugs I don't see any reasons not to.
Hopefully we'll get a new modem because the latest one was horrible for me.

No trick needed, they just decided not to increment the qfuse version with the MLD leak. It's almost guaranteed the official version will have an updated value and will not allow for reversion. We'll know for sure when I can get the new aboot.

It's only 31 minutes past midnight on the eastern seaboard. I wouldn't expect AT&T to push the update until much later in the day... say around 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST. Granted, that's only a guess on my part, they could be rolling it out as I type this.

So, lemme guess.
On the upside, we get KitKat, probably stable.
On the downside, it's AT&T, да им еба путката майна на тия лайнари.
I am no dev, but I selfishly and fervently wish the devs here unsurmountable amounts of luck rooting it.
I have a weird question regarding root....would there be a slight chance of getting an old exploit to work as we get more and more updates on our phones or are the old exploits patched up for good?

This is AT&T, and they want their phones locked "for consistent user experience", so it's highly likely they were so late delivering the update - "Lock&bloat!". Locking the loopholes.
After I check for the OTA, and it's still not up why does it say I can check back in 91 hours? It's usually 24 hrs......does that even really matter or can I check every hour if I wanted to?
