Warning from my experience - Motorola Atrix 2

I just experience a brick issue with the Atrix 2, Went to setup a pattern screen lock, after setting one up, turned my screen off and then back on, no pattern showed up. Went into the menu again to double check a pattern was setup for the screen lock, and there was. Shut down my phone and tried to turn it back on, ever since then, the phone never turned back on, any ideas? Just purchased the phone last friday. I know i can get an exchange.

Try pulling the battery out for a couple of minutes and then restarting it. Sorta like a hard reset. If that doesnt work take it back and replace it.

I just tried this. For some reason after setting the pattern and turning the screen off I still got the standard lock screen. After rebooting the phone I now have both the slider and then the pattern. Your phone must have took a dump right then.

I think theres definitely some bugs there. First showed pattern unlock for me, then slide unlock then pattern again O.O

Yea there are a few bugs with this device, thats forsure. Just going to have to wait for a patch or somethin or OTA update.
I did get the phone to work. Apparently if your battery is at 5% and you shut your phone off, you cant turn it back on until you plug it into charge and wait for about 3 mins. Thats what I experienced. which i believe is non sense.
Heres how I found this out.
As we all know I stated that I thought my phone was bricked after setting up the pattern unlock. It wasn't the case.
1) Decided to plug in the phone and just leave it on charge
2) About 3 minutes later the phone powered on by itself while plugged in
3) Decided I would take it off charge and reboot my phone again, phone didnt power on even though I had a 5% charge left.
4) Just plugged the phone back up to charge waited to reach 10%.
5) Unplugged the charger from the phone after reaching 10%, decided to reboot the phone on battery power, reboot was successful.
Apparently if your phone is at 5% charge and you shut your phone off , you cant turn it back on until you put it back on charge. Atleast thats what my phone does.

I had that issue with my Sony Ericsson X10A too on android 2.1. My Atrix 2 does the same thing too. It doesnt make any sense to have a lock slide and a unlock pattern show up after that.

I think that is a failsafe in the firmware. Booting with 5% or less battery could cause damage is it dies mid boot, so the firmware on the phone will not start the boot until the battery has more juice. Booting is a very resource hungry operation, so booting with low battery is not a good idea.

[Q] Possible battery drain when off

I really don't know if this is possible or not.... but I might need to get some new corduroys after a case of the brown adrenalin with my new sensation.
Got it Friday as could see progress on the rooting and sure enough Revolution came up with the goods same day. Rooted it Saturday.
Fully charged it, switched it off and went back to the HD2 - flip case and car kit arriving today. Really don't wanna damage my new boy toy by pocketing it with car keys etc.
Stone me though I thought I bricked it. Wouldn't switch on this morning - just a dark flicker of the screen. Sweat pouring off my forehead. Never bricked a device and flashed my HD2 & TP2 a million times and my £450 unlocked handset is 3 days old and dead..
Long and the short of it is plugged in the charger again and a few minutes later it powers up - 3% battery.
Is it possible it could drain switched off? Or should I blame the kids for messing with it and deduct my dry cleaning bill from their pocket-money?
After I rooted, I had to do a battery pull until I was able to turn my phone on again, although this doesn't really replicate what problem you had...
The battery does not drain if the phone is turned off.
Question is, was it definitely turned off?
Even if it wasn't, there's no way a full charge is going to drain overnight... Unless you had a Satnav running...

You're right - it SHOULDN'T... I'd rebooted no problems several times after the rooting. Some OTA update came over and didn't install successfully though.
It'd be very odd (and a warranty issue, get ready to go into rooting reverse) but for now I'm inclined to just blame the kids. Unless anyone else has has similar experiences.
I guess time with it will tell.
EDIT: Apparently it's a known issue and has been fixed with the new CWM update! See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Ah ha, looks like it's not just me!
This just happened to me today and I had to change my pants because I thought I bricked it. I rooted it and installed InsertCoin no problems!
Today, as it jumped off my WiFi and onto the mobile network it got stuck on "Disconnecting from Morsolo's WiFi" and just sorta froze there (the phone still worked, but it wouldn't fully disconnect from WiFi, so I got no mobile data).
I turned the phone off via normal methods (40% Battery)... Then it wouldn't turn back on. The phone was a little bit hot at this point, but it does heat up so I thought nothing of it.
For a good 30 minutes, nothing happened. All that I could see happening when I attempted to turn the phone on was, the screen backlight would turn on, fade off, turn on, fade off. No boot, no recovery, nothing.
I tried charging it and it would show the indicator for 2 seconds and stop charging (but this is a known issue, apparently it continues to charge regardless).
After numerous times pulling the battery, trying to start, charging, battery, start... I finally managed to get it to boot and it said the battery was at 3%... After the phone was STONE COLD DEAD for a good 30 minutes to 1 hour.
...I just got home (with a dead battery, of course) and now that I've plugged it in again, it wont boot, again.
I think we've discovered an issue.
EDIT: Good man. Thanks for the update. Better get onto that right away.
Yup.. that's the same experience... except I'm still on stock rom with tweaks.
What do you reckon - flash back to stock and see if it still happens? Really don't want it turning into permanent paperweight with an iffy bootloader for someone at warranty to find with their JTAG.

Wont turn on?

Last night i turned off my phone because i didnt want anyone waking me up. Today i try to turn on my phone and it wont work at all?? Its rooted by revolutionary and i think that it may not be charging properly or something but ive tried 3 different chargers and it wont turn on?
When you plug it in does the orange light turn on? Leave it plugged in for an hour before you try to turn it on just to make sure the battery at least has some juice.
Yeah it does but after n hour it just turns off?? It was charged yesterday when i turned it off too

Flash the Modaco 4.0.0.9 recovery
I had a similar issue a while ago when my phone turned itself off and wouldn't turn on no matter what I tried. See the thread for more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263740
Luckily I got it to turn on after taking out the battery and letting it sit for a few minutes before putting it back. Not sure if that's the case with your phone but worth a try. Let us know how it goes.
By the way I haven't had this issue since then so I haven't sent it for replacement.
Mine has always done that since I rooted it. If I use the power button to power off, I have to remove the battery to get it to turn back on. It's only a minor inconvenience to me as I very rarely turn my phone off, but it is a peculiarity.
I think you guys just aren't giving the phone enough time until you reboot. Make sure fastboot is unchecked. Turn off the phone and wait a good 10 seconds after the screen goes black. You don't tap the power button, you kind of have to hold it for a second but there's no reason it shouldn't work. Make sure you're on the 4.0.0.9 recovery as the older one had some power issues. If after all that you believe you have a defective unit, contact t-mobile and exchange it!
I have personally had this issue and the fix was surprising...a Tmobile store rep helped me with a great solution....
First removing the battery is the key. According to him while HTC makes great phones his Sensation and the mt4gs both had an issue with the battery not seated perfectly. Note I had already tried to open and remove the battery with no success. But I did it in front of him by myself and it worked.
Then he sold me about the Anker Batteries - search Anker for the Win. He told me about them, because of their tighter specifications HxWxD which make them a really tight fit to get in and out but that forces them to contact the battery contacts.
Since then never had an issue and I get a really long charge and very little battery heat.

Screen wont turn on

Hello,
Runnin an unlocked bootloader, rooted, running Melvin's ADT rom so its just stock and rooted, nothing special on ATT. I installed the no CID flash last week and it worked fine. I have rebooted several times and there was no issue for the past week. Today i had my phone on my desk and i went to unlock it so that I could check the time and the screen wouldnt turn on. I waited about 5 mins and it still wouldnt turn on. I pulled the battery and put it back and tried to turn it on and it vibrated but the screen never turned on. I pulled the SIM, the SD card, and the battery and still no luck. I put the battery in and it wont light up at all. The buttons on the bottom, nor the screen will light up. Cannot get into the the boatloader either. Anyone have ideas on how to fix this?
i have not experienced this nor heard about it until today. i saw another thread with 2 other people with the same issue.. maybe some defective devices floating around out there? take it too at&t for an exchange.... here is the other thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356670
well it ended up being an easy fix. The phone just wasnt showing the currect battery percentage. It said the phone was at full charge but it was empty so the battery died. I went to plug the phone into the computer and see if can go into download mode to flash via odin but then it turned on. It recharged and it worked of course.

[Problem] HTC Inspire will not work at all HELP!!

Hey all, I just got through with this hurricane sandy business and now I find my phone not working at all. First off I'd like to say that there is no water damage to this phone and it is NOT rooted. The problem is that it just won't turn on at all, and won't charge when I try to charge the device. The day before I charged the phone and it worked fine. I can provide more details if needed but I need to find a solution to this.
Did it run down on battery completely before it did this? You might need to charge it for a bit before it turns on. Also, see if you can get your hands on a spare battery to see if it's the battery's problem. I would also try removing the battery and putting it back just to make sure it wasn't jostled loose.

Two days ago I completely let the battery drain on its own because it was draining faster than usual and I was using it very minimally due to the lack of phone signal during the power outage. And yesterday I charged it until it was 100% in the morning and at night I charged it again until 100%. Before I went to bed, I turned off my phone and it was 90% and when I turned it on in the morning it was at 77% (which I thought was weird since the phone was not even on). Now the phone will not work at all. I took the battery out and everything. I even tried turning the phone on while trying to charge it (but it would not charge). The only feedback I got was that it vibrated when I tried turning it on this afternoon and after that was nothing. (it would either get stuck at the AT&T bootup part or I would get no display at all)

And nothing happened to it in between at all? That's very odd. The only thing I can think of to try is another battery.
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks! Thread moved.

Nothing I can think of. It was fully charged by 9PM the other night and shut off before I went to bed. Next morning the batter is nearly halfway drained for no apparent reason. I think I will get another battery to test.
Also I let the battery sit out of the phone for a few days now and the phone still does not work.

Get a hold of a charged battery, then after 1 hour with no battery in the device, replace the battery remove the SD-Card and the SIM-Card, replace all covers. Reboot your PC and go to firewall tab in the control panel and turn of your firewalls, then reboot your PC, then using USB data cable not a charging cable.. with your device being OFF conect to a USB connection in the back of your PC, if it's a laptop use the one next to the intranet connection. Then wait about 1min. If nothing happwned, hold the volume down button then press and release the power button. if nothing happened, hold the volume up then press and release the power button. If nothing happened do the samething this time by holding both up and down volume buttons. If nothing happened with your device connected to the PC go to MY Computer tab right click on C>Properties then go to tools click on check disc tab check mark both options then restart your PC. Before windows tour OS starts, your PC will go through a self check. let it do its thing. it takes a couple of hours. then after its down check to see if it has seen your device. if not then do procedures above once again. GOOD LUCK.

Okay so I finally got it to turn on but in order to charge it, the phone must be turned off for some reason. Also, the touch screen is not working, even after I did a hard reset and erased all my data. I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue or a software issue because the display is working fine.

That same thing happened to a friend of mine. She took it to a technician tho and they sorted it out for her.
Hello every one, this just my first post here, but I have been follow the forum very very close since some days ago thanks to Mustaavalkosta and his new CyanogenMod Rom here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533007&page=283.
I am having a similar problem with my HTC Inspire, here is my story. I bought it like it a year ago, the first thing I do was to rooted with AAHK and install CyanoyenMod cm-7-20130301-NIGHTLY-ace. Everything works just fine till a couple of months ago. One night I just leave my Inspire and go to sleep, the next morning I wasn't able to turn on, not charging, not turn on. Was not the battery because my brother has another Inspire and I check with his battery. I just leave the phone without the battery and Sim and SD for a day and them come back again, but at next day the same occurs. I try all that time, vol down+power. voldown+volup, every convination but nothing works. So I decide to dissensambly my phone... in the process I broke the ribbon flex cable http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HTC-Desire-HD-Inspire-4G-Camera-Socket-Keypad-Membrane-PBC-Ribbon-Flex-Cable-/320925341841?pt=US_Cell_Phone_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item4ab8a41891 The phone was in parts on my table like a month till I was able to buy and recieve the ribbon (I live in Colombia). Finally the ribbon arrives 3 days ago, so I assembled the phone again and...magic! the phone turns on. My next step was install the Mustaavalkosta Rom that I mentioned before.... but, yesterday, my phone was dead again. So a try all steps again, put out the battery, Sim and Sd... and again try all the combinations of buttons, but nothing works... So I do it again: dissensably again my phone: Only disconnecting the display doesn't works... I have to disconect the display and the ribbon cable, assembled again and just turn on again.... Now I am waiting for the next black out...
I know is a weird behavior, but may be some one can point me in some direction to fix it.. I am not a developer or anything like that, but I like to investigate and solve problems... any help will be wonderful.
Cheers!
PD: I dont have any apps installed, just trying the Rom as it is.
PD: The next time it happens I will try the niavaran advises.

Duraforce E6560 boot loop

I've had this phone 3 years and it worked well. It's an unlocked ATT phone so no OTA updates other than the standard app updates. It's on Lollipop 5.1. Been working perfectly fine until yesterday, I was watching the CBS app, when the phone rebooted. Now it's stuck on a boot loop and initally went to optimizing apps which it rarely finishes but the times it does, the phone just powers off. It then got into another loop later last night where it'd get to the Kyocera logo then reboot over and over. I let it do that until the battery died 2.5 hours later. Then I kept attempting to boot until the batter was entirely drained to the point it wouldn't attempt to power up any more.(battery is not removable on this model). I've now charged it up, trying to enter recovery mode with power+volume down. That doesn't seem to register. Tried volume up+volume down+power with no effect. Now after charging, it will do the reboot loop mentioned earlier to the Kyocera logo. If I plug it into a charger, it will go to the optimizing apps portion and repeat the above. At the optimizing apps screen, if I unplug the charger, the phone powers off immediately. It appears to be holding a charge according to the charge indicator and the fact that I can try to boot over and over unplugged. Any suggestions? Phone wasn't dropped or damaged in anyway. Very weird what could have happened.
An update: Phone finally got past the "optimizing app" phase last night sitting on the charger. Out of no where the phone booted completely. However, it only works while plugged in. If I remove the charging cord, the phone shuts down after about 2 seconds. Booting without charging cord results in the same boot loop. I've considered the battery has failed however when plugging in the charger, battery shows 100% and it will decrease appropriately over time. I'm thinking there must be a hardware issues at this point. Somewhwere in the charging/power circuit. Any other suggestions?
Last update I guess. I was able to keep the phone up and booted as long as it was plugged into a wall charger. PC USB was not enough. I managed to grab my photos etc. thankfully. Factory reset the phone from the settings menu. Unplugged from charger, ran for about 2 minutes. Still said 99% charged, then went into boot loop again. Phone still shows near full charge if you let it run for awhile and decrements the charge state appropriately as time goes on. However, i guess this 3 year old phone is toast. No known reason for it to fail unfortunately. Thought I'd share the experience if anyone else has this issue.

I have the same exact problem. It started the crazy booting process in my pocket, and I did all the same things you did. Factory reset didn't correct the problem, so I'm think the battery has had a stroke. Sine your problem and my problem are very close to the same time frame, our phones are also probably about the same age, and its a quality control issue. Not bad quality control, just that these batteries were designed to last X number of months or cycles, and probably they died. Too bad, because my E6560 is the very best cell phone I have ever owned. Built like a tank and thank God for that.
