Ultimate ICS v2 and Glados Kernel 2.3, so far no problems, really smooth.
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363765
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336529
Most likely I'll switch for Cyanogen Mod, once Beta/RC are available, though.
I am on Stock ICS4.0.3 + kernel 3.0.13 = better battery and bluetooth
ICY+S 3.1 with Galdos 2.3
Sent from my Full Android on Crespo using XDA App
NexusBeam v4.1.0 + GLaDOS V2.3
Stock ICS 4.0.3 + Kernel 3.0.13
I am on AOSP+ V1.2|ICS 4.0.3 and GlaDOS 2.4
Stock ICS with GLados 2.3 Stable as hell
PixelRom 1.01 (stock ICS) + kernel 3.1.6 by eugene373
Stable and smooth.
I am on CM9 Alfa 18 with Matr1x v13.
With GladDOS 2.4 I had a lot of reboots, 2.5 seems stable.
But with Matr1x v13 there is less battery drain.
I'm still on :
ROM : CyberGR-Mod ver4.
Kernel : Franco (8 Dec) Kernel
Really smooth & super stable Gingerbread rom with a super kernel of Franco's.
I would wait until ICS is stable enough & many customization on the UI been made.
Cm9 alpha 18 on stock kernel.. Its the best IMO. I've tried GLaDOS too but it had frequent reboots or sod.
Nexus bream will be a close second to cm9

default kernel Franco 2.6.35.14
waiting fo ICS to last a full days work before using it as daily driver....

Fast, stable and a very good battery life.
Stock GB 2.3.7 with stock kernel.
I've tried every ICS ROM around here, including the OTA, but none of them had a good battery life. At least not like GB. I'm getting 2 - 2.5 days with moderate use.

What's the best ICS custom rom for speed/stability?

I'm currently running a Neapolitan ICS rom that came out a few months ago and I've been having a lot of stability/speed issues with it. Lookign to flash a new ROM but there are so many to choose from.. any suggestion? Most important things to be are stability and speed.. I don't care too much about a fancy feature set.
Thanks in advance
Im running Drew Garens Orca ROM, with matr1x 15.5 and i love it! Very stable

any ics rom now would be better than neapolitan since its using a hacked up gingerbread kernel. so i wouldnt even consider it truly ics since its not using a 3.0.8+ kernel.
I use bixie rom v.1.0.0 with matr1x kernel v.16 - It's really fast stable and smooth. Battery life is also good (just need to tweak some settings).
u can see a review about this combo on nexusshacks website
cheers
I use CyberGr V7. It's awesome.
Stable, Fast, stable and incredible battery. Lot of options and functions.
One word GREAT.
I am currently using CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ver. 7.0 Hybrid ICS, it crashes from time to time but for the most part is working fine! I would also remond the CyanogenMod 9 v4.0.3 v2.1 it has less custom features but its only getting better!
PV!
Check out kangs roms (AOKP). There getting lots of positive feedback
Sent from my Nexus S
Cm9 very fast, stable, you can tweak cpu governors, sounds and colors directly in the rom settings
Cyanogenmod 9 v2.1
Cyanogenmod 9 v2.1 runs very stable on my phone! I would definitely recommend it for stable daily use!
Bigxie Crespo Apex v1.02...brilliant. Was on NexusBeam before which was excellent too, But Bigxie ROm has lots of nice features, facebook sync etc.
Never had a reboot with either unless using a different oc'd kernel, So off the shelf Bigxie Crespo Apex v1.02 it is. rock solid. loving it. Don't like the boot graphic so flashed the stock one and its just perfect
CM9 Kang for the win
Nexus S (GSM i9020a)
CM9 Nightly Kang (Build 1 of v2.1)
Eugene's Kernel (Speedy-7)
OC 1100/100 (conservative)
I recommend CyberGRv7 ICS rom. It runs beauty on my nexus s!!

[Q] Whats your ROM & Kernel?!

Just want to know what people are running on their phones. Im a flash freak and flash roms practically everyday, but i really want to find a rock solid, stable rom and kernel i can stick to.
Thanks in advance.

Still GB?
ROM : Mandaman2k ROM based on Peter Alfonso
Kernel : Matr1x
At the moment i am using Brickmakers MIUI 2.3.3 with Matr1x 16.0
I'm also using GPA 19 ... rock solid.
Now using Bugless Beast by Pete Alfonso, but I'm waiting until nexus Sense has got data! Than I probably will move to Nexus Sense! I'm running on the stock kernel, but Nexus Sense will run on Matr1x 11.5!! Bit old, but newer versions are for ICS.. Nexus Sense is on 2.3.3 at the moment... bit bad, but okay!
Greetzz, Jojoost.
Sent from my Nexus S running on Bugless Beast by Pete Alfonso!
ROM: GummyNex 0.7.0
KERNEL: Matr1x 15.5
Stable, smooth, battery full >50hrs.
Brickmakers MIUI 2.3.3 with Eugene Speedy 7
ROM : ICS Peter Alfonso
Kernel : Matr1x v15.5 (v16 does not have deep idle )
Slim ICS v2.4 Alllll the way (with stock kernel, that is speedy 7)
Pete crespo 4g nightly 02/09 with Glados v2.10.
Thinking of going back to gpa19 or cm7.1.0.1.

I've always gotten good battery life from Pete's roms. I do alot of internet stuff, as well as the normal few calls and texts during the day. I have no problem going an entire 15 hour day without hitting the charger.
Wow, that pretty good battery life. Ill be sure to give it a go. Thanks everyone for there input helped a great deal.
Cyber-GR mod v7 with Matr1x kernel 15.5. Its stable, smooth and fast (at 200-1200 mhz smartass v2). That's my main ROM & Kernel, but I'm always trying out new roms.
The new 4.0.3 MIUI roms werent impressive to me. Not smooth, and fast enough :/.
AOKP Milestone 3 with SG's 2/05 kernel. Pretty rock solid in terms of battery life and stability and overall smoothness .

Now nuherti 2.2 and speedy7.
Will test later with matrix 16.5 and new sg kerbel

After trying out a few ROMs ive really liked Cybergr mod 7 with matrix 16.5 very smooth and excellent battery life. I REALLY want try out nuherti 2.2 though, anyone try it yet?
miui 2.2.3 brickmaster.still looking for its battery performance

Most stable custom rom on the Nexus S?

I've tried MIUI and Cyanogenmod but they seem to be a little unstable and drain the battery. Do you guys know which rom is the best for smoothness, stability and long battery life? Thanks
Bugless Beast. Enough said.
I won't say it's the best, because everyone has his own opinion.
The best way is to try them all.

I can say that the 1.4 version of CodeName ROM is the most stable! Now they are in 1.6 but it's laggy and we all expected to be the most stable again in the realase of 1.6.5!
And about the kernel, I will choose or Air Kernel or Matrix Kernel, are the best!
Regards,
Urko
PS: Can anyone thanks me? I can't release my Rom on the Dev section because I don't have 10 posts thanked! Ahh and the post was made a little bit with Google Traductor, I'm 16 years old.. xD Sorry
+1 for Bugless Beast

My wife's phone is100% stock and still has small bugs, freezes, and other issues.. So a 100% stable jellybean is a myth.. Carbon tests faster than Gamerz, but isn't as smooth.. I am using Thinkingbridge and am nearly as fast as Carbon, but haven't had any bugs (yet).. The latest Devil kernel is fast and stable at stock speeds, but I find over volting it when over clocked is better than stock voltages (on my phone).. At stock voltage when over clocked I have had random reboots, but not when over volted... Marmite is also fast, but I haven't found a stable over clocking method for it.. Both deliver good battery life and performance on any compatible rom...

@Setting.Out so u recommend carbon and devil kernel? And about random reboots yes i got that alot on slim rom but gamerz rom not much so u know how to avoid that?

Don't use your Nexus S as if it's a Galaxy Nexus. It's a 2010 phone.

Each ROM is different and reboots are caused by tons of possibilities either kernel or ROM, and overclocking and using tweaks/mods only increase these possibilities...
I've tried Carbon but have had a couple bugs in previous builds.. I'm testing the latest Carbon and it feels nice and no issues thus far
Thinkingbridge is fast and stable and I had no bugs or other issues..
And yes, Devil is my favorite kernel..
Also if you use devil tools or similar app, you can overclock the devil kernel to a fairly stable 1512mhz (live oc 108%). Not recommended for long periods of use!

i mean what is better than gamerz rom and fast and stable FOR LONGGG USE like till key lime pie is out whats the most stable and fast rom and what kernel to use with is
try jellyshot with marmite. i have tried every rom and for me is the fastest and most stable rom
Jellyshot + marmite 7.3 is 100% stable but does not have many mods, carbon + marmite is very fast and has a lot of mods
I was just using the old 4.1.2 Hellybean with a current Devil kernel and the experience was very nice, stable and smooth.. the battery life was also quite good, averaging around 20 hrs with 5 hrs screen time!!

bottom of the page.. Enjoy
I tried countless ROMs, Kernels, Tweaks and Mods, and i have to say that im most satisfied with ThinkingBridge (SB4) and Devil Kernel (3.0.71) plus Final Script (3.1) from "The War Against Obscurity" thread posted by Setting.Out. Its clearly subjective; many people, many opinions. But you surely have to give it a shot!
