Don't see Settings/Software update//Check for Updates - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

On my Rogers i727R, in the menus, I don't see Settings/Software update//Check for Updates.
I hear people referring to it for their AT&T Skyrockets. I thought they were identical in terms of Android version.

Bump .…ten

Alot of people are posting the same thing.. but rogers has not pushed outt this update from how it sounds.... there has to be a way somewhere in the settings to check for updates. For us u just push menu settings software updates. Id check all the menus if i was u . Start with menu setings about phone. If u check all the options in settings and u can not find it call rogers and get tech support on the phone im sure they can tell u. And if u figure it out please post it in thr general section so all the rogers users can see

In the time that it took you to write that post, you could've found(by searching) that NONE of the firmwares released/modded as of yet have MyFaves. None of the firmwares have come from T-Mobile therefore they lack that feature.
thanks m sorry for being an idiot lol should have used google... lol anyways thanks =]
my.tmobile.com doesn't allow me to change my faves, it's lame. It just says "read more" like I don't have the myfaves plan, yet right next to where it shows my plan "My Faves"... crap site.
So I get the benefit of calling tmobile everytime i want to change it... pain in the ass.

You actually can change your Faves through the site. Unless there is something completely different on your browser your you MyTmobile. I used the website to change one of my contacts, the only issue was that the server (i guess thats what it is) had a problem communicating with my phone, with it lacking an appropriate application to communicate with and it would not update my changes on the site or server. I had to call Tmobile and a rep did some stuff on her end to get it to work. She explained all of that to me, though she didn't know I had a hacked G1 or modded firmware.
Please read / search before posting. This question has been asked and answered before.

MMS and Manilla 2.5

I have been searching for answers for the issue with MMS with manilla 2.5. Till this day MMS still does not work. It seems like this topic died out but yet there's no fix. My question is, why is it that it doesn't work? Does anyone out there know? MMS is such a common feature on phones now-a-days, shouldn't this work on updated technology like Manilla 2.5? I don't get it and I really do wish I knew some software programming because I would attempt to figure it out, but I don't. Is it a ROM issue? I just don't know. Could someone kindly explain a little why MMS has been an issue with CDMA. I'm sure there's other members wondering the same too. Thanks for reading my question.
You are right!
Sense I have had my tp2 i have been in search of the answer to that one thing MMS on my phone working! after 3 weeks 2 days and 23 hours I found the answer. People please just make it simple just make sure that in mms option in sms/mms matches the right connection in your phone connection. also mack sure that the connection is set to default.

lol...I'm on sprint. Thanks for the help. Someone will find the answer sooner or later.
give it a try.

What I did was...
1)Install MMS Fix (M2.5) (Verizon) (Valkyrie).cab
Do this right after soft-restting or close out messaging using task manager.
2)Set the MMS server to http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms?X-VZW-MDN=<your ten-digit phone number>
MMS server is located if you hit "All Messages" in Manila, then go to Menu -> Settings -> Options then go Menu -> MMS Server
The file can be found here http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=1424023&postcount=69 for some reason the uploader isn't working.

I have read a bunch of pages on that thread and can't seem to figure out what I am supposed to do. The first post seems like sprint settings. What do I do if I am on verizon? Or is there a specific post in that thread I should be looking for?

.
There is a fix for verizon. Search at PPCGeeks.com for it. Sprint users don't have a fix yet..... I think the problem is with HTC messaging in 2.5. I wonder why HTC doesn't come out with an update for this...they made it.
Throtteabuse, read what I said above. It works for Verizon phones, well atleast for mine running EnergyROM Leo Dec 31st. The file uploader is still failing though, the link to PPCGeeks should have the VZW file.

[Q] is there a way to use the cdma sprint branded hero on open mobile

Open mobile has the hero but I'm no longer using mine since I got an evo. I was wondering if I could get it working on open mobile so I could give it to my sister. Anyone done anything like this before?
Well first I would suggest posting this is the correct section. Q&A is wat ur needing. Please read the rules.
Now u would have to get the PRL from open Mobile along with the Epst settings in order for it to work. Never heard of them so best I can say is do research on finding this info.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Thanks, they are a mobile network exclusive to puerto rico. Thought this would go under Dev since I figured I'd have to get that info dumped from one of their hero phones (Any idea how to do this?). Or could I just call them and do the whole number on the back of the phone game and update PRL? I'll poke around with one and write a howto when i get it done.
Heres a little help
http://www.fortuneinyou.com/buddy/Android.zip
has a tutorial you can use to change and editing settings with pictures, but dont use the included PRL or APN as they are for PagePlus. Just replace revelent settings for Open Mobile, If you could get ahold of one of their phones, you could retrieve appropriate settings with QPST
First Go To Open Mobile and Ask Them...
Thanks. I'll try that tutorial when i get to work later. If I get the files ill post them for others to use. Also I tried moving the thread but I couldn't find the option :/
NP
Admins have to mode the thread .
If you could at the VERY least get a PRL for them you will easily have talk/txt working, harddest part is getting internet and MMS working.
I used this tutorial to provision my Hero for PagePlus (verizon) and liked it so much I uploaded to personal server instead of linking to hosting site where ads/pops and wait times are a pain.
Didn't wake up in time D: I'll have to try tomorrow.

[Q] [i]Carrier codes please!

Hi,
I can confirm that NoDo can be obtained most easily by merely tweaking the registry for any unbranded carrier codes and for carriers who appear on Microsoft's website to be delivering updates.
I had flashed my Omnia 7 with a DBTJK1 Rom available from samfirmware.com, I got the pre-nodo update straight away, however, NoDo update was not available (14th April Last checked). Since Orange UK was confirmed to deliver NODO, so I tweaked back my registry to ORG-GB and restarted my phone, and wonderfully enough I got the NODO instantly.
There is no need as I see to try any silly methods (pbk trick with timing lolz, Cheveron Updater oof)to get the updates, instead, one could just register unbranded carrier codes. So, Could you all please submit your unbranded, or those who got the NoDo officially, the carrier codes (Read from registry for operator on your phone), so that we can expedite the process of getting the updates.
Many thanks, and please do contribute as this will be very useful for getting future updates.

Please read registry from following location.
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
No spaces in the path above (Some bug puts a space automatically). Read string value, and post it.
sprint has nodo officially on the phones,
tell me which registry settings to query, I'll post them up ASAP!
hi guys as much as I want to contribute here but my phone is not dev unlocked.. only unbranded... i tried registering to Windows Phone Dev but since I dont have a credit card im having a hard time testing the .XAP files here.. :/

Arrgh, the Registry Editor I have doesn't have root access so I am not able to read the value (hidden in the list)
Any suggestions how to pull it out? I have visual studio, touchxplorer, and am working on writing protected registry values to this version of the phone.
see thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035392
Thanks in advance, I'm awaiting more ideas/instruction!

I've been following that post with GREAT ANTICIPATION! Unfortunately, the program does not work on my HTC phone. *yet*
I guess this brings us to a standstill as the only official NODO update I believe is on HTC and dell phones:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/update-schedule-usa.aspx
Is there really a need for this? Just set 000-88 as your MobileOperator and it should pull down 7008/7390 no problem. Why bother going thru the hoops of finding a carrier when you can go carrier-free?

No, it does not find 7390 with 000-88 in registry, I had this entry in my ROM by default and I had to change it back to ORG-GB (from my official ROM).

I have updated several phones to NoDo with 000-88. Some automatically and others using the disconnect "trick". Just because yours did not find 7390 straight away doesn't mean it doesn't work - it just means your device wasn't part of the randomized and throttled rollout.
Sure, you could go thru a list of carriers who are delivering the update, but that still doesn't mean your device would receive NoDo straight away - the process is still throttled afaik.

I don't see the relevance. The process is throttled. Yes, you may have received the update straight away after going back to ORG-UK, that doesn't mean everyone else will. Others (me included) received the update straight away after changing to 000-88, while others still have had to deal with timing tricks, clearing out the string completely or retrying hundreds of times.
In any case, since you are saying ORG-UK works, then why bother trying to find other strings? By your definition everyone should automatically get NoDo by changing it to ORG-UK, right?
But whatever. Here's a few strings for you to faff around with;
Code:
000-88
SMC-HK
ONE-GH
VOC-MZ
SFR-FR
ORG-GB
ORG-FR
SWI-CH
FON-CL
FON-GT
LUS-CA
SIN-AU
SIN-SG
TMO-DE
TMO-HR
TMO-CZ
TMO-HU
TMO-MK
TMO-NL
TMO-SK
TMO-GB
TMO-US
ORG
VOD-NL
STR-AU
TMO
TLC-MX
ATT-US
VOD-AL
VOD-AU
ROG-CA
VOD-CZ
VOD-EG
VOD-FO
VOD-FJ
VOD-DE
VOD-GR
VOD-HU
VOD-IN
VOD-IE
VOD-IT
VOD-MT
FON-ES
VOD-NZ
VOD-PT
VOD-ZA
VOD-ES
VOD-GB
VOC-LS
VFQ-QA
VOD-IS
VOD
VOD-CD
You can rather easily match these against carrier, country and whether they are testing, scheduling or deliverying the updates.
Many thanks for that list mate! What now remains is MobileOperator values for Unbranded devices, I seriously doubt that they are all but 000-88.
Unbranded XENJK1 here, 000-88. Originally handset was TMobile UK.
I did try changing the MobileOperators to ORG-GB with no success with the update, there must be something more. Your device is originally an orange handset right? It may be determined on more than just the MobileOperators key.

Yes. The process is still throttled. The update is not sent out to all eligible devices at the same time. You can raise your chances of being "selected" by changing your MobileOperator string but your best bet is really to set it to 000-88 and - if that doesn't automatically give you the update - do the wifi timing trick. Works 100% of the time.

I took your info into consideration, and went through the hassle of flashing my ROM again, and this time today, even if I had 000-88 by default in my ROM, NODO did not appear. To my surprise, NODO did not appear going back to ORG-GB either, and guess what, the timing trick also did not work at all. So, I went on and used Cheveron.WP7.Updater and got NODO, however it is difficult to dealwith it in my subconscious.
I wish there was a simple official way to getting updates, yet I still think that unbranded MobileOperator code could increase the chances.
I've got the unbranded one: version 7390 (updated over Zune), value: 000-88
@Emigrating.
So mate! How to go about the wi-fi trick and how sooner shall it display update notification?

[Q] Using QPST to change sprint proxy settings

Mods please move if not in the right place.
So I recently used qpst on my htc arrive to do a manual prl change. While it was a pain in the ass to setup does anyone know how I could change the proxy settings also? I read on the android sections that ppl were changing the http/rstp to 0.000.000 etc and that downloads were increased. Since the arrive does not give you the options of the android phones, I thought this would be my best bet. If anyone has advice on this subject or where I can find a tutorial please let me know.
