Galnet miui ics rom - HTC Desire S

Hi has anyone flash the new galnet rom yet. Is it stable and usable as a daily rom. I only have the one phone and need it so only want to flash when I know its stable and most if not all of it works.
sent from my armchair with my feet up

Yes. I've made a little review on it in THIS topic. It should be better if you make use of the search function on this forum, there are about 3 topics with this subject.
P.S. There's also a stable version of this ROM starting from today.

Flashed it been testing for a while, all seems good no issues as of yet. Great MIUI rom with ICS framework.

have they fix the call delay issue on stable release?

Still there but I don't know if its just me but it seems better. Where before it would be a few seconds it now seems to be a second or less sometimes I don't even notice it. Been experiencing a lot of fcing with this build though so gone back to 1.11.25 miui.us for now.
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

What changes does the ICS framework bring ?

Not entirely sure I think its to do with memory management. Visually its very similar other than this is a galnet version where as I was used to miui.us. but there are some force close issues enough to irritate me so I gone back to 1.11.25
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

Been testingthis rom for a little while now and I must say its brilliant. Has all the miui trimmings but just seems better. My battery seems to last about 30% longer and its quick. Still getting some force closes in the market but it seems to be settling in (if a program can do that). The haptic feedback is really feeble so turned it off but other than that its great, love the ics keyboard too.
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

30%?? wow!! that's a lot for battery life. Is it with data on (3G)?

No I don't I never use mobile data I'm far to tight to pay for it . I do read a fair bit on it and listen to music for a few hours most days and a fair bit of browsing (mostly on xda). On the old miui.us I'd have about 15% battery left at the end of the night with galnet ics its about 40-50%.
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

I think I wait for MIUI 4.0 official release

For me I had to keep setting my signal up
Sent from my DesireS using xda premium

That's explain why i only got max battery life for 24 hour with data 3G always on. Lol....
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

just read some post on galnet miui ics stable version that they have battery drain with data on. so i'll wait for miui stable release then. i heard it is ics....yummy....
Sent from my DesireS using xda premium

By the way...how is it exactly you managed to flash this rom as i'm stuck on bootloop each time?

Flashed this from a previous miui rom. Try installing the latest rom from miui.us then flash this one worked for me
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

Already tried that but still stuck on bootloop. No idea why that happen as i can flash other rom very well using the same method.
Sent from my DesireS using xda premium

Do you wipe cache and dalvik cache before you flash.
Sent from my Desire S using xda premium

Yup. Done that.
Sent from my DesireS using xda premium

Flash galnet weekly, clear cache and dalvik cache, then flash galnet ics.

no just using standard cm7 no OCing, just dont get why it keeps freezing at night?
Update to cm7 nightly 26. Nightlies are newer and its possible that it fixed that bug. I'd recommend wiping dalvik, cache, and factory because you're experiencing problems already. You don't want them to carry over.

Try Axura...most stable rom I've used.

I had enough with cm. The rc's are not stable and the nightly are gamble. It nulls the 2.3.3 reboot fix. I went back to stock with root and overclocked it. Added widgets and quickdesk pro and am so ****en happy because it is lightning fast again AND STABLE.

The RC is just a another nightly with a milestone anyway, not any more or less stable than more recent nightly builds. Actually I would bargain that, discounting breaking stuff trying to add features or fix bugs, the recent nightly builds should be better if bugs are resolved.

Need a ROM suggestion

Hey guys quick question I've been working with my brother in laws t bolt.
When you flash a radio from hboot is that like fast boot before recovery?
and since he is rooted what rom its solid and should I flash so I don't have to revisit it again I had das bamf 1.63 running but have had a few reboots and gps locking issues
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Wow really can't get anyone to help for a sec
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Do you have the Gingerbread Radio currently or froyo. If you have Froyo I would def go with BAMF Stripped its a great rom with great battery life and none of the crappy sense. If you have Gingerbread then go with the GINGERITIS rom which has been running great for me in terms of stability and battery life and ofcourse the uber cool sense 3.0 lockscreen with shortcuts.
And for your Hboot question it is is the white screen with little androids at the bottom . It will tell you if you have S-ON S-OFF and other information such as what radio you are running.

Truthfully, ROM choice is a matter of personal preference and whatever anyone tells you here is just their opinion. All of the ROMs for TB on XDA are in the Development section, so it would do your brother-in-law justice to have him pick what he wants based on the features.
Ill recommend Liquid Gingersense. I used Liquids ROM's throughout the year/s with my Original Droid 1 and they were fantastic and Ive stuck with them ever since. Always very fast and stable and usually its updated quite frequently.
Go for the sense 3 preview from Adrynalene. This thing has the best eye candy I have ever seen. If you are looking for something speedy, any of the stripped ROM's would work or CM.
Try them all

this s on or off in hboot screen is that a seting I need to adj?
Once you have permanent root you should have s-off. I if he suffers from random reboots I suggest he run the stock radio the device was shipped with. I have the stock radio and have never had reboot problems. I've tried both das bamf and CM7.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Started out w Chingeys Perfect Storm. If you want to stay froyo, Stay with V1.4. Or today I switched to DroidTh3ory 3.5.1 if you want to try GingerBread!
Both smooth and solid choices
Mike

Which Rom next?

Hey guys I've been looking to try another rom.
I've had gingerbeast, leedroid, miui, and now I'm on inspired ace.
I want a Rom the focuses on speed and stability. I want sense and I don't want force close issues. I've been looking at maybe trying virtuous unity, dilligafs sense Rom, or maybe ninja.
I want a Rom that has very few bugs and doesn't necessarily need to be updated all the time.
I should note that I'm very happy with inspired ace but I need more speed and hoping to find a Rom with stronger WiFi.
Eye candy is not a primary focus.
Which do you think should be my next Rom?

i would like to have recommendations for the criteria i listed, just one that you have tried that you think will work well for me.
thanks guys
You have tried all the best. /shrug

CoreDroid hands down has the most/best features and you can always expermient with the kernels (unity and Lee's) to see which you prefer. Both are great kernels.

Virtuous. Do it.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
I loved virtuous but I'm trying cleardroid for a while see how this goes. So far the battery life has been amazing.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Try Ingersoll.
Fast, stable, near stock experience...performance with no bells and whistles.
Still one of my fav ROM's even though I'm running with the Beast currently.
I love virtuous unity 1.25. Auto CPU dameon, tweaked sense 3.0, stable fast and good battery life to boot.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I've most recently tried Virtuous and it looked good, but the audio (phone calls) sounded terrible. I'm not sure if I missed something, because I only flashed it to get a quick look at it. Maybe there was a fix in the OP or something specific to my device. Either way, I haven't heard other people with the issue and if I wanted Sense, that's what I'd want to run. Sense 3.0 is nice.
yea, i would like to try sense 3.0, so i think ill give virtuous a try
thanks for the feedback guys, ill revive my thread if i find it missing things i really want
I didn't see anyone recommend Android revolution. It's an optimized stock Rom. Very stable and doesn't update as often as others. Give it a try.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Ingersoll is pretty legit, I bounce from that to cm7, currently using Unity and It's pretty great except for battery drain and seems laggy at times and that could also be operator error

I installed it last night. Loving it so far, but I had to install the audio fix; as you said, the sound was crappy, but the audio fix took care of it. So far it's great. Best data speeds I've seen since Inspired Ace.

Virtuous
Sent from my Inspire 4G
I've run most every ROM, multiple times, for Sense, Virtuous Unity is the most trouble free. Lee, Core, Clear, AR, all had some issues for me.
For non-GB, Ingersoll is very, very good.
If you are having audio trouble on Virtuous Unity, it's most likely a kernel issue, not a Virtuous problem. Clear data, cach, dalvik and reflash. The audio is perfect on that ROM.
Might i ask where the audio fix is thanks

Should I trust CM9 over all other rooms?

I was wondering this because I just installed the alpha 20 ics CM9 rom. I'm tired of flashing lol I want a nice stable no lag one.

YOU would know best whats stable enough and lag free enough for YOU. im just quite the opposite. 3 weeks or so ago, i flashed the stock/rooted version of 4.0.3 ics. it was stable, fast, everything worked. i thought i was happy with it and stopped my daily flashing. last night i went back to crackflashing, cm9 kangs. the stock rom was apparently too stable for me. and it wasnt just because of withdrawal from crackflashing. i went back to daily crackflashing because it has become a lifestyle
Lmfao hey like your reply I'd the story of my life. Btw how good is the kang one. I personally think that asop is the best but I need better

the kangs/cm9 are getting better and better every day, almost. i left cm9 because the launcher was starting to bug me, it reloaded way too often. cm9 might have had a memory issue then. but, 2 days and 2 kangs later, not a single issue here. everything works just as it should. and its extremely quick and responsive, even with the trinity teuv undervolted/underclocked(880mhz) kernel that im using(but its gpu is overclocked).
So you would say that the kangs is better? If so, I'm gonna keep this cm9 and then flash in maybe two days.

its not that they are better, its that they are compiled on a daily basis. so they are the latest, and include the latest fixes right away.
Well yeah that makes more sense. Looks like I'll be flashing a lot with this cm9. Thank God for titanium backup pro. Thanks for the responses .

I wouldn't say you should COMPLETELY trust the CM9 ROM over all. If I were you I'd run some more tests on which you like the most at the moment and stick to it, until CM9 is finally complete. I'm using an AOSP+ Neapolitan flavor build, it is incredibly smooth I recommend that. I know as soon as CM9 is finished I'm hopping onto that ROM in a heart beat though
Hey thanks. Do you have a link for that build you mentioned

I doubt there's any CM10 based rom more stable than CM10.0 stable. I'm running it right now and so far I haven't encountered any bugs or issues really, except for volume wake being unreliable (likely a kernel issue).

That sounds good I don't use volume wake so I'm good without it, I read somewhere that cm stable wasn't really stable just another nightly but I'm willing to give it a try, I'm so sick of sense at the moment and I'm waiting for the rebuild of viper one s and sense 4+ but in the mean time this will do

+1 on CM10 Stable. Although, the latest Nightly is fine also. Stables are Nightlies to some extent. Maybe just be a "Polished" version of previous nightly. Not 100% sure as I am not on the inside of the building.
Surprised you put this in General ridearoundsolo, you are definitely no Noob--
Haha I debated on where I should post but I decided general since I'm not really looking for a how to but more just to see what are people are using at the moment, but yea I'm on cm10 stable and its working great but it feels too boring compared to being spoiled on viper one s
