Hey guys,
I have a rooted htc inspire running cm7. I was running the Inspired asop rom when this problem started. The problem is that i seem to be unable to get a data connection, The icon on the status bar is greyed out, still has an H with the 2 arrows, and 4 bars, But still if i go to the browser or market or anything involving data it dosent work? I thought maybe it was the rom so i flashed different ones, same result. i reset the apn settings, still the same. now im at a loss. If anyone could please help me id greatly appreciate it! thanks

Edit- I posted this same question last night in the general forum, just now realized it was the wrong place. I apologize about that. I was just freaking out about this. And still am. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Have you tried turnining off phone and reaseating the sim card and then turning it back on?

So I got my infuse a little while ago, and immediately unlocked it, entered the correct Telus APN's, but I'm still not getting 3G data.? I do have full bars, and can place calls and send texts, but no 3G data.
Please help guys!
Any ideas?
UPDATE. Nevermind, going back into the APN settings, it seems as though there wasn't an APN? lol, even though I already entered and saved it..
oh well, all is well.

How did you fix it? I just got an unlocked samsung infuse and I have same problem, I can make calls and sms but data is not working, only through wifi.

When I came to India on vacation, I had the same problem. I unlocked properly and I was making calls/sending SMS fine but no data as you said. I'm not sure which of the following steps made it work but here's what I did:
1) Tried adding the APN settings in Android Settings. However this never seemed to 'stick' since after saving, I'd never see the profile.
2) Downloaded an app called "APN Manager" from the Android Market. Added a new APN entry, selected it and quit out of the app.
3) Called Vodafone customer service and they send they were sending APN setting to my phone again.
After a couple reboots, it miraculously started working.
Best of luck (because that plays a major role lol)

Are you able to get 4G while on Telus? I've always had the 3G icon up top with typical 3G speeds. I want to see that icon say '4G'

Just a heads up... this was before we had a Q&A section. So yeah according to the time frame he was in the right place.

Hey guys. I need some help with something. I just got Liberty and I think it's awesome. (I'm a noob) Everything is really smooth. Except one thing is really bothering me.. I can't get my WiFi to connect. When I try to connect it says: "Remembered, WPS available.." etc. Then, no more than a minute later it says: "Disabled, WPS available.." etc. and basically, if I keep WiFi turned on, it'll just be stuck in a loop. It'll keep Scanning then disabling. Really frustrating. If anyone could help me figure out this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Well, here I was getting ready to give this question it's recommended daily dose of douchery, and I find that you've already exceeded the recommended dosage of vitamin douche... keep up the prickish good work buddy.
Just rooted and installed the latest MIUI Rom (6.1) for the first time and I have not been able to connect to data. I know you have to toggle data and tried the GSM only and back to GSM/CDMA auto, however, no luck. I would post in the specific thread, but as a new user I am not allowed to. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
Edit: Wow for anyone still having this problem I turned on USB debugging on it worked. Not sure if that helped, but I think it worked for me.
Edit 2: Haha nevermind it was only a short fix. Still no data
Wow thats a weird fix. I would have opened the "download" app and switch between download via wifi and mobile data that fixed mine. Anyway glad u figured it out.

Well you are right haha because it only lasted about an hour. Very odd. Tried to replicate it but couldn't.
Anyway, I tried what you said. It was already on mobile network, but I toggled it anyway. No difference. When I first change the phone settings it will show 3g and 1x, however, no data and then it goes straight to cell signal only. Love the rom, but no data is a killer. Seems like everyone is able to eventually get it.
Alright for anyone else having this problem I left it on CDMA only instead of auto and the 3g is working. Not sure if 4g will work, but I can edit later and let everyone know.
If anyone knows a 4g fix let me know.
Edit: Just got 4g randomly haha I have no idea what is going on.

Alright let me say that while I am very inexperienced with ROM-ing and the like, I have done it once successfully in the past (several years ago with my Droid X) without any issues. I rooted my phone today and installed the latest D2VZW release (not nightly) of the Carbon ROM.
My biggest problem is that I have no mobile network connection. I have looked at other discussion boards with people having similar problems, but were not of help to me as I have no idea what they are saying. I can say, however, that my IMEI number is correct (had it written down), but my phone number according to the Status is 000-000-2212.
EDIT: There is a mobile network connection. I have the bars, and "4G" switches back and forth to "R". I can't, however, call or receive calls, or text message at all.
EDIT2: Upon updating to latest version, my phone number is reporting correctly, but I still can't use my mobile network connection. It does not ask me to do the initial setup upon starting for the first time after flash.
Second, there is no lock screen, the home button doesn't work, most apps don't come up at all, etc. I'm totally lost.
I appreciate all help trying to get me pointed in the right direction here, or at least figuring out what's happening. I will do my best to provide as much information as I can, and I apologize ahead of time for my lack of understanding.
EDIT: If it's not something I can fix, I'll try to reset it back to stock using the pinned thread, but I don't have time to do so right now.
EDIT2: I updated from v1.0 to v1.8, and it resolved most of the problems, which I deleted from this thread. The vital ones are still present, however.
When you flashed CarbonRom, what did you wipe in recovery? Also, have you done any of these steps? Lastly, since you performed some edits, could you clarify what is currently wrong with your phone?
Thanks for your reply! I was actually going to delete this post and start a new one because I've greatly narrowed down my problem. Just typing it all out above seemed to help me think about the problem and fix it.
After getting all updated ZIPs and flashing them, I got the ROM working properly.
The problem with the mobile network persisted, but after trying Fix #2 in your link, it worked. As far as I can tell, my phone is fully functioning now. Thanks a ton!

Alright, I'd like to start off by saying I am very familiar with everything as far as root/rom, etc. I am not a noob, please don't talk down to me like I am an idiot with no clue what he's doing. Thanks.
So here's the problem,
I was getting bored with my Illusion ROM, and wanted to try something new. I flashed a MIUI rom, and everything was great until I realized I had no service. I did the whole 4636 thing and selected the LTE/CDMA/GSM/AUTO (PRL), still nothing. rebooted phone, still nothing.
Flashed to a CyanogenMOD 10.1, was able to get mms and internet working, but no calls.
Restored a backup of my stock ROM, was able to get mms and internet working, but no calls.
So now I am stuck with a phone that I can't use as a phone...
Any ideas?? Did the MIUI screw up the radio somehow? Am I missing something??

I'm having the same problem. I flashed carbon and I got stuck in a bootloop so I went back to bones and now whenever I'm in a low signal area it just goes away completely. Even in a strong 4g area I still lose connection. My calls won't even go through. Anyone know how to fix?
Read my above post, click the link and try those steps. It fixed the problem for me.
