Hey,
So I got my infuse a little while ago, and immediately unlocked it, entered the correct Telus APN's, but I'm still not getting 3G data.? I do have full bars, and can place calls and send texts, but no 3G data.
Please help guys!
Any ideas?
UPDATE. Nevermind, going back into the APN settings, it seems as though there wasn't an APN? lol, even though I already entered and saved it..
oh well, all is well.

How did you fix it? I just got an unlocked samsung infuse and I have same problem, I can make calls and sms but data is not working, only through wifi.

When I came to India on vacation, I had the same problem. I unlocked properly and I was making calls/sending SMS fine but no data as you said. I'm not sure which of the following steps made it work but here's what I did:
1) Tried adding the APN settings in Android Settings. However this never seemed to 'stick' since after saving, I'd never see the profile.
2) Downloaded an app called "APN Manager" from the Android Market. Added a new APN entry, selected it and quit out of the app.
3) Called Vodafone customer service and they send they were sending APN setting to my phone again.
After a couple reboots, it miraculously started working.
Best of luck (because that plays a major role lol)

Are you able to get 4G while on Telus? I've always had the 3G icon up top with typical 3G speeds. I want to see that icon say '4G'
Is that even possible?
Can we please keep questions in the Q & A section? That's what it's for. I apologize in advance OP, this isn't completely directed toward you. Just the crap ton of people I've seen doing it lately. But glad you found a solution!

Just a heads up... this was before we had a Q&A section. So yeah according to the time frame he was in the right place.

Hey guys I purchased an unlocked G2X off of craigslist after my HD2 died on me :/ now I am running all of the Stock OS no mods nothing. This phone is unlocked as is working with at&t. I am able to access 2g which lets me get on the internet and browse (even thought it is slow it works really good). well the phone is great except I cannot download picture messages (MMS) it just keeps saying failed?!? idk what I am doing wrong? I tried to talk AT&T about it but they are saying that since they do not have a similar phone to it they cannot check the settings for me which sucks! I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue and found a way to fix it?? **I HAVE GOOGLED, AND READ UP ON VARIOUS TOPICS BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYONE WHO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME!*

I have the same issue with Simple Mobile. I think the images being sent are larger then what we can accept.
yeah i thought about that also, but it wont even let me send a message out, it just fails at that part too. I have tried using Handcent, resizing the images myself everything.
What I am thinking that it is, is the fact that MMS Proxy settings inside of the APN settings?
any suggestions?

It definitely has a lot to do with apn settings. What I suggest is to find out what is the apn settings for one of at&t's (& Simple Mobile's) Android phone and copy it to the G2x and that should most likely fix the MMS issue. I fixed a myTouch 3g for somebody having MMS issues and all it took was Googling the apn settings of the carrier and then add it to the phone and you should be golden.

Have you checked your APN'S... Cuz that's the part you need to fix if it isn't set up for Att.
Usually you would need APNbackup from market or sideload it and backup and then alter apn for att then restore.
If not try using goSms and fill in mms proxy/apn info

My wife and I both have Charges, mine is rooted and running GummyCharged, her Charge is just running stock. After setting her phone up, we noticed a 3G icon with a "d" under it. From doing some searching online, I found a post at another forum saying that the d means "dormant." Just means that the phone isn't sending or receiving any data so the connection is dormant. That part I understand I guess, my problem with that explanation is that when she would have the 3Gd icon, we couldn't even bring up anything on the browser. So it's like the connection went to sleep and nothing we did could wake it up except a reboot.
I guess my question is, does anyone know what this actually is and if there's a way to stop it? Should I just root her phone too and throw a ROM on it because I haven't seen that icon since back in the Razr days.

You could always toggle the data connection from 4g to 3g then back or someone suggested to airplane mode then back. Its all a crazy mess but check out the other post. The other day it happened to my wifes phone and mine. She is stock and Im rooted. Actually had the problem last night I was downloading great and then all of a sudden boom.

Thanks for the info! I may have looked at that post, not sure though. I looked at a lot of posts but none of them addressed my wifes exact issue. I'll check it out though, thanks again!
Just rooted and installed the latest MIUI Rom (6.1) for the first time and I have not been able to connect to data. I know you have to toggle data and tried the GSM only and back to GSM/CDMA auto, however, no luck. I would post in the specific thread, but as a new user I am not allowed to. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!
Edit: Wow for anyone still having this problem I turned on USB debugging on it worked. Not sure if that helped, but I think it worked for me.
Edit 2: Haha nevermind it was only a short fix. Still no data
Wow thats a weird fix. I would have opened the "download" app and switch between download via wifi and mobile data that fixed mine. Anyway glad u figured it out.

Well you are right haha because it only lasted about an hour. Very odd. Tried to replicate it but couldn't.
Anyway, I tried what you said. It was already on mobile network, but I toggled it anyway. No difference. When I first change the phone settings it will show 3g and 1x, however, no data and then it goes straight to cell signal only. Love the rom, but no data is a killer. Seems like everyone is able to eventually get it.
Alright for anyone else having this problem I left it on CDMA only instead of auto and the 3g is working. Not sure if 4g will work, but I can edit later and let everyone know.
If anyone knows a 4g fix let me know.
Edit: Just got 4g randomly haha I have no idea what is going on.
Hey everyone, I just bought an Infuse on Evilbay, and the first thing I pretty much did before I even stuck a sim in it was root the thing. I used this root found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1613523 (option C), and I installed a custom CRT on animation. I also changed my boot animation. I also have a root explorer on the phone, but I have only deleted stock apps. At least, I am sure I only deleted stock apps. The only bugs I have noticed are my original contact list does not function, so I got a new contact app and dialer. The other bug I have noticed if I try to use the stock task manager, the phone will reboot. So, I have a dif app that kills tasks and manages tasks.
So here is my problem, yesterday I left my town of 15k, traveled east on I90 50 miles to Rapid City, SD with a population of 75k. I got about 10 miles east and I lost all service. I was able to use navigation with GPS, but that was it. I called Straight Talk, and I was told the phone only works best in the activation zip code. I posted on Howard about this, and other ST users have been able to take their phones through multiple zip codes, states etc..
What I need to know is how do I fix my phone to work elsewhere? I know the APN settings are correct, I get the H+ icon when the data is active. I am using the APN settings from straightalksim.com. When I activated my phone, I had to use the zip in Rapid City as it would not let me activate with my zip. Would that that have anything to do with my issues? I appreciate all of your guy's help in advance, thank you!

Well...you could either put your fix in this thread so you can better the site & help other members who might encounter the same problem later, or you could just continue to sound like a giant douchebag & whine about how no one knew how to help you.
Sorry, I am more of an asshole than D-Bag! I don't know how I fixed it honestly. I did flash a new rom, and I flashed the KI3 modem, and bada bing bada boom all fixed and working. Wi-Fi speeds running 3-4 down 1.5 ish up, data speeds 1.2-1.5 down, 1mb ish up. So, its a good modem to use. GPS locks in 1-2 seconds without obstruction as well.
Well if you don't know what you did...leads me to believe that maybe service was just down and/or flaky in the area you were traveling...like a dead zone...have one near my house anytime I pass through the area I lose service...im on att by the way

As I said, I think the modem in the original package was wonky, who really knows. I know that my phone is working fine now, and I am happy. As the title says - we (three N5 in the household, two in one part of MA, another 90 miles away) get NO SERVICE message on the top left screen and service bar is empty.
It started just prior to 5.1 OTA upgrade. It can come at any time, I noticed often when I take it out of my pocket, or even when it lies quietly on the desk - out of the blue it has no service.
Anyone else experience this? Any idea what's going on?
I've been having the same issue. However mine started after the 5.1 update. I have a completely stock n5 on straight talk. I haven't had any issues since yesterday morning when I deleted two other apn's that were not being used. I'm not sure if that fixed it for good yet. But you may want to try that.

Thanks, I'll try that. Not sure why would it affect it though unless they changed something in their APN settings. Worked fine up until about 3 weeks ago.
I'm not sure why deleting the other apns would work either, but I haven't had any trouble since I did. Doesn't make sense to me. My wife has an lg g3 and I had to do the same to get data and picture messaging to work on her phone. That's what gave me the idea to do it on my n5

Would you mind post screen shots of the APN you are using with ST? Just to make sure I have the correct setup?
Ive been using the apn settings from thr the straight talk data settings app from the play store. Im on 5.1 stock and it works just fine.

Tried the App but it didn't work properly, it missed some details. I entered it manually and deleted the other APN. Not sure why inactive APNs could cause this.
