[APP] OnLive Viewer from HTC Flyer (works on Xperia Play)

It looks like the OnLive Viewer app from the HTC Flyer has been ripped and the .apk available for other devices. You can find the original topic here:

I saw this the other day and decided to give it a shot on my Xperia Play. The first time I tested it, it would not connect. However, I tested it again this morning and was able to login and watch videos that others had recorded. Everything ran pretty smooth and looked pretty good.
Even though this isn't an official release, I think that there could be a lot of potential for OnLive with Android devices, especially the Xperia Play. I look forward to seeing where they take it.

I just got this the other day and can say im excited. I use onlive daily and think everyone should try it i have over 20 games and the microconsole and bought the xperia play with hopes of onlive for it.

There was some news that Sony Ericsson gave some money to the people at Onlive(even tho HTC gave so much more). Onlive for the xperia play would be perfect with and without their new HDMI cradle

Any chance on getting this on the Android Market? would be excellent so if there are any updates released we can get them automatically via the market.
Thanks for the app though

I have not tried on the xplay yet. On sony tablet s it installs but closes after i start it. Thanks anyway

OnLive is a cloud based gaming application. It's primary use is so mid to low end computers can play top tear games that there computer could not play in the native way. This application is a viewer, it will let you watch brag clips, and live feeds of your OnLive friends playing. You can also watch trailers of games you may want to buy. The hope is soon OnLive will bring out a full flegged client, allowing us to play games like Dirt 3 and Deus Ex 3 on our xperia play

It already is possible. HTC is launching an OnLive version of the Evo 4G. It comes with the first playable OnLive client, HDMI out and a special OnLive controller. Once its released, because we have a H/W pad, the client can most prob be ripped from the Evo for us

when you open the viewer and go to gallery to watch people playing the games. It is LIVE. That is why it is so different from you tube. A LIVE stream of the game being played is the viewer. Being able to send the controls back to the server makes it a player.
Hence, netflix streaming + video games + plus hardware controls on our phone = win. Go to google and lookup onlive, or for a demo that requires nothing to install, to see how a service like this could work, go lookup gaikai. that lets you do game demo's for things like crysis 2 in your browser, using your keyboard/mouse to control, at full resolution, even if your computer can't handle the game.

Just tried it on my Xperia Play, it needs a steady connection to run (WiFi-N with good speed).

Yep, I've got rally cross, and XI, and other games on the japanese psn page, on the phones app, but no locoroco, and when I enter the code, I get the amber window, which obviously tells me the code is either invalid or out of date, just as it would on a uk account.
Tried altering the phone's id, in build.prop, and changing market with enabler.
Also managed to get the apps from that chinese site, so will install and try them later too.

I'm getting the Amber window also. I tried this on my Japanese PSN account via qriocity.com
I'll try it again on my PS3. I just wanted to register the game to my account so one day. (hopefully) when the PS Store comes to the R800x, I could just log into my Japanese account and download it.

I'll be damned... looks like Xperia PLAY will (kinda) be a PSP Phone after all.

I remember the days when they flat out denied the rumors that Xperia PLAY would be a PSP Phone. Technically, I suppose they still could though since Xperia PLAY is it's own legitimate PlayStation Certified experience with it's own games instead of just being for PSP games.

it's an Uncharted table for Pinball Heroes
The Sony Tablet S comes with Pinball Heroes and all those tables mentioned. I've been playing the game on mine.
Its like Crash Bandicoot. It comes preloaded on the tablet but it's not available in the PS Store yet.

I suspected from the beginning that it would at least play PSP minis like the PS3. The timing of the Team FailOverfl0w keys and hacks and subsequent developments was too late in the development of the phone to change anything that may have also been vulnerable to it, hence, they hid, and delayed the functionality. I always thought that it was intended to do that and possibly full-blown PSP games except that the functionality was possibly removed and abandoned when the PSP and PS3 were blown wide open.

I think it'd be more like a PSPminis wrapper than an emulator and I've suspected that it had some hidden PSP DRM and such all along. Any serious PSP titles would need to be ported or have some hidden hardware support in the phone.

both Lite games seem to have PSP buttons on the screens but Ape Escape has the PSP buttons and two on screen thumb sticks. What's weird is none of these games have the Save Progress function when you quit like all the PSOne games I've played do.
I'd also like to mention Pinball Heroes has no on-screen button controls, just touch controls but it was also originally a PSP game.

This great news. I've been wanting PSP games on my Play from the very moment I started using it.

The only sony phone I ever truly enjoyed was the c905. If they would remake that and make a universal charger and 3.5mm audio jack instead of their large obscure sony charger, they would probably have more clients. The new xperia wasnt that big of an eye catcher, sure it was like a psp but other than that it was like the other xperia's. The firmware was slow and updates for crashes/bugs took forever.
Sony has started on a downward spiral. They need to create something amazing to bring me back as a customer

There is nothing that says for use that the PSP games that end up on this phone will be emulated. Its very possible that they have (as CZRoe mentioned) some sort of wrapper on them to get them to work natively with the phone, but it likely has custom programming for each game.
We will need to see what these games look like (on the back end) before this is even something to consider possible.

Its about time! Too bad we will never be able to play any of our previous digitally purchased games on the play due to different system (processor, OS, etc.) unless Sony ports all the games then based off your Network Purchase history will allow you to rewdownload the Xperia Play version for free. (I wouldnt hold my breath, this has always been a gimmick with Sony to make money off games they already have, and have reached their shelf life) I.E.... UMD Games, the digital games for the GO, that you had to re-purchase, now it will be Xperia/Arc/S Tab etc ported versions you will have to purchase once again!

Keep dreaming. Sony made the PSP dev kits to allow quick porting to PS2, PS3, and other platforms. PSP minis all compile to run on both PSP and PS3. So, it's either out-right native ports or a code translation engine with wrappers for natively unsupported functions and system calls ala cXbx. Either way, it will take a commercial level of effort and understanding to make each title function and this will be required per title.

Yeah it is, it doesn't show in the launcher though. I gather from the almost unintelligible post that if you redownload it, it will work. However I (and probably you) have the free version so thats likely not possible.

The version that many of us downloaded from EA when NFS Shift was free does not show in the game launcher. The free promotion ended, I am assuming you paid for it? There is no way for anyone with the free version to redownload the game without paying for it.

Hello guys. I downloaded NFS Shift yesterday from the Google Playstore (android market) but the version I got is not optimized for the xperia play. Fortunately I've been able to get refunded.
Still, I want to get this game, and I want the optimized version for xperia play gamepad.
My question is: where can I get the right xperia play version? Apparently the game is also available from the PlayNow launcher, but there are several choices for this very same game :-/ So confusing! Plus I'm not sure I can be refunded if I by the wrong version from this store..

Still, I want to get this game, and I want the optimized version for xperia play gamepad.
My question is: where can I get the right xperia play version? Apparently the game is also available from the PlayNow launcher, but there are several choices for this very same game :-/ So confusing! Plus I'm not sure I can be refunded if I by the wrong version from this store..

EA Flexion Store which other EA games should link you too in the Xperia Play Launcher. Most of the games like dead space/Bad company/Dark and NFS Shift are Xperia Play Optimized if buy from there.

Baaaah, too bad, the game is not in the list when you try to get it from the launcher... Has it been removed? Or is it just available for R800x (USA) owners, and not for R800i (EU) owners?!
Therefore, only the version 1.73 is available from the Google Play Store. And this version is not optimized for the gamepad.
Fortunately, the right version (v1.1.0) which is optimized for Xperia Play is indeed available from the EA Flexion Store. But is it a reliable market? I cannot find any information regarding this website on Internet, and you have no contacts of information link on the website itself. Weird. I am not so confident to purchase from there...

Its EA's own store so it is reliable. Think you pay by text as i can remember when brought optimized dead space. Have never tried to re-download from as use TB to back up most of my stuff or if not rooted use this to grab yourself a copy of the apk (https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5leHRyYWN0LmFwayJd) you should be able to also try before you buy (around 30-60mins). Hope this helps.

Warning - Runs a little slow on the Xperia Play i tested on sadly (Normal out of the box R800i)(hope others get better results) and does not show in launcher. D-pad works to move, Left sholder is spray, right sholder is sprint, cross is jump and on-screen controls vanish when press a hardware key for first time so this is basicly Xperia Play Optimized

Should be compatible with xperia play touchpad.
Most Sega games do have this compatibility. I would be surprise if this one does not have it too.

Never had touchpad support from them and this is really a game that could do with it but hope you are right, Even if they stick to the hardware keys on Xperia Play and native USB controller it would be a bonus

This was the second game I got for my DreamCast back in the day, very cool...
Man what I wouldn't do for a functional DC emulator.....

Out now added info to first post. Downloading now and hope for gamepad support (Fingers Crossed)

Just had a chance to sit down and play it, I tested it out on stock 2.3.3 (r800x) with stock 2.3.3 kernel, I did'n't notice any audio or video slow downs, plays pretty nice so far !

For my taste, it is a bit slow. Even with my config (see my signature) it is kinda slow. Hope they bring a fix for this because game plays nice.

Me too. The CPU isn't maxed out, it's just that the game seems to be only running at about 50% speed.
I reported the slowness to Sega Support at https://support.sega.co.uk/home, via the Submit A Request link and got a request number of 8718 back. I mentioned I was using an Xperia Play of course. I checked the Knowledgebase and the issue didn't seem to be on there yet.
That link is for EU/UK, I don't know the best way to report it elsewhere, but perhaps more of us should report it to Sega.
