screen lag or not responding problem. - Motorola Atrix 2

Hello guy, I have had my atrix 2 for about 3 weeks now and I am having an issue since week 1. If I am using anything on the screen sometimes nothing happens, I get really frustrated about this issue. I would be using the web and when I want to scroll down nothing happens, I could be typing something on the screen keyboard and then nothing happens, I could be playing angry birds and when touch the screen nothing happens.
It only happens for a few seconds, I have tried a reset and still the issue persists. I have not installed any non market apps and have not rooted my phone on purpose incase I need to return it. Thanks you

Have you tried a battery pull? Sometimes a hard reset will fix some of the lil quirks

Yes, sure as long as you don't install anything or better yet, don't use it for anything but phone calls, it works perfect. Doing hard reset every time something happens for no reason is unacceptable.
My solution is to get a different phone, this one is total garbage, first of all it's a castrated Atrix 4G with just a bigger screen but with all it's bugs and problems, plus many more new problems.
I usually very calm person with no bad temper, but with this phone I'm this close (thumb and index finger are squeezed together) to smash it against a wall.
Atrix 2 is just an embarrassment for the awesome Android phones family. Apple fan boys are laughing at us and pointing fingers, but the worst part of this - THEY ARE RIGHT.

Im pretty sure we all get the point. You're not happy with your phone. Get one you are happy with....
There are plenty of us that aren't having problems with our phones and are happy with them. Go take a look at the rest of the forums. Just about all of the new phones are having problems you just have to decide what you can or can't live with. But I can promise if I was having as many problems as you seem to be I wouldn't still have the same one......
To the OP I wasn't suggesting him pull the battery everytime but sometimes it works and to give it a try

I'd definitely take it back, that's not normal. I've had my Atrix 2 for a month now and have not had that problem.

So when people say "do a battery pull" does that mean while the phone is powered on, pull the battery out? Or do you pull it out after it powers down and keep it out for a while?

If I had an iPhone I'd be laughing too.....sometimes it's all you can do to keep from crying!

I've always done it while the phone was on. Almost like a hard reboot.

If you are having such a bad time with this phone, take it back and get something else. I for one like my Atrix 2, i have had minimal problems and my phone runs great.

I think he did.

I am loving my atrix 2. This really is a nice combination of performance, user-friendly and battery life. And I have used alot of phones. Should have my lapdock 100 in a few days and I will be set.
Wish that BL would get unlocked.

Sometimes it happen to my a2.
Sometimes when i want to type on keyboard it doesn't respond.
Same issue when i want to unlock the phone, power button responded the screen is on but comes in black and there is no unlock screen,it takes about 5 minutes to get back to normal or pull the battery (but this is not a wise way,me think)

its not a software problem.
sometimes the side 80 pixels of touch dont work for me, then it gets fixed by itself after a day, sometimes when i unlock the phone, the touch doesnt work at all. sometimes the touch is laggy and has a bad response, restart fixes that very rarely. but the others come and go randomly.
what you can do is buy bezel+touch from the link i posted on the touch repair topic, its $42 and you dont have to glue, its 5 minute fix.

Would try to do a backup and factory reset see what that does if it works sometimes.... BUT if it does not work ever it would sound more like it is the digitizer..... Has the phone been hit hard?????

ive did backup and format and nothing changed, so if he has the same problem as me, it wont matter.
but yes he should try that first

About the screen (bottom part)

Okay so I've had the HTC Fuze for 3-4 days now and 1 thing that i noticed is in the screen, by the bottom (where the touchflo is) the screen is like "blinking".
It's hard to explain, but if you get closer to the screen you see like its moving and shaking but when you look at any other spot its not.
Is this normal or my device could have a problem?
Oh and sometimes when i use the keyboard and the screen rotates, the "right side" which is the bottom (keeps blinking) sometimes has the letters of the menu before i rotated the phone, so it has like letters with opacity there as if OVER the screen.
Any of you have this problem? Or is it just me?
What can I do? My device is still in warranty but its a really small problem, it just bothers me the screen like that.
Thank you.
PS. Ill post a video if you want to see more clearly.
not normal
I agree this is not normal. Reflash your ROM.

I've never done this before. But i wanted to take all the A&T stuff of my phone and make it faster. What ROM would you recommend me?
There's other threads about this on these boards. It's a hardware issue with the Fuze, and yes, it is normal. I've gone through 4 Fuze's, all of them were sent back on warranty, because of this exact problem. I just seen a thread not too long ago about it and someone mentioned that it was a hardware problem but I really don't remember his/her explanation of it.

Oh so should I send mines back or just keep it?
It doesn't bother me at all, i mean, i could live with it, but sometimes i think it would be better if it didnt do that.
It just happens when my device is hot. I mean, when you use WIFI the phone gets warmer and thats when the screen starts doing that, when i turn it off and let it rest it works fine again, and sometimes when i put it in standby mode and then back to normal it comes with the blinking thing and sometimes not.
Like I said, I've gone through 4 and still have the problem. My advice, either switch the TF3D look so it's not as noticable in portrait or just switch a totally new ROM with a new TF3D look. It's still going to happen but you'll notice it less. Even on this new Fuze it's still happening. I'm using EnergyROM Mercury right now, and while I still have the problem, it's nowhere near as obvious as before.
Another thing I've noticed that seems to help a bit from time to time is to turn off the screen and plug the charger in. Weird, but it fixes it sometimes. As you also noticed, it only happens when the device is hot. A prime time for it to happen is when you hang up a call.

[Q] Phone Dead Zones

After use for a period of time my screen will start to create these dead spots and it prevents the phone from detecting my finger in that specific area how can i fix this without restarting my phone everytime this occurs?
I have this issue also, however it is very uncommon for me and simply locking the screen and unlocking it has resolved the issue.

Natic, your problem is common and known since gingerbread i believe. Wulamoc is correct, the easiest fix is just cycle your screen on/off with the power button as described.
hello,
i've also been having issues with "dead spots" on my Inspire's touch screen. it's about 1 centimeter wide and runs down the entire left side of the touchscreen. it pretty much renders typing in portrait mode useless because my E, S, & Z keys cannot be pressed because they are in the dead zone. luckily i can still type in landscape so it isn't too bad.
what is really weird is when i use the phone normally and i swipe over the dead spot the screen jumps because it's not registering over that small area. BUT when i swipe my finger across the dead zone REALLY fast back and forth, the touches register! i've tested this using an app from the Play Store called "Touch Test".
Just so you know i have rooted my phone and flashed a few ROMs already, i've seen in other posts that this sometimes happens on certain ROMs but the dead spots are usually alleviated with a reboot, turning the screen off, turning the device into landscape mode or as a last resort wiping the device. I've tried all of those and to no avail. i've used CM7 and aospX, but the problem started when i was on CM7.
i'm hoping that this is just something to do with software and i may be able to fix it myself without taking the phone apart and replacing anything. i don't have the dexterity for that i am already out of warranty and none of the current phones on AT&T interest me at the moment so i wanted to make this phone last as long as i could..
any type of advice on how i could fix this would be appreciated..
thanks in advance

I'd say that the part where you're in luck is that a lot of people are always after the new thing. You should start seeing Inspires on eBay and Craigslist at an awesome discount. Good luck to you, I'm in the same boat, I honestly can't see moving away from the Inspire until AT LEAST upgrade time.

You won't find a better at&t phone for what the inspire goes for. Replacing the screen could be cheaper but then again you might destroy it. You could sell it on eBay as a fixer and put what you get toward a working replacement.

Replacing it myself isn't an option for me. I am almost certain that doing that will end up with disaster. I was hoping it was a software fix, where wiping the phone or factory resetting would work.. But if all else fails I could tough it out and wait for the AT&T One XL..

[Q] Lately, a bunch of Nexuses have been randomly committing suicide...

Okay, so yesterday, my friend comes to me saying his Nexus S (Sprint) just randomly quit working for no reason. And then his phone is totally stock, no root, no bootloader unlock, and no custom recovery. So I go home, plug this Nexus S into the charger, but the screen remained blank. I unhooked it from the charger, then decided to plug it into the computer. The computer made no sound, did nothing at all. I tried all possible key combos in existence. The only thing the Nexus did was to become warm. I furthermore researched about this issue all over Google, and I've found plentiful Nexus S users report that their Nexus S quit and won't give any sign of life this month. Today, ANOTHER friend came to me, but this time, it was because he forgot the pattern lock to his Nexus S (Sprint). No biggie. I just went into the recovery, and wiped data (since he also forgot his Google account). I wanted to use this Nexus to see if I can diagnose the other Nexus. So in my hands, I hold 2 Neuses. One bricked HARD. The other healthy and free. I just want to confirm, there IS AN ISSUE W/ OUR NEXUSES that makes them die, and we have to figure out what is causing this to happen. We need a solution. I need other Nexus S users to confirm this issue by commenting within this thread.
Just the past couple days my Nexus S has been on the fritz. I've always been able to overlock/underclock, but now if I touch the clock settings, it reboots. I cant even set the max frequency to 800mhz any more. I've tried nearly every rom and kernel and I believe its the just the hardware finally degrading. Also the responsiveness of the device is hugely slower than when I first purchased the it, I have to wait about 10 seconds after unlocking the screen to be able to do anything, and Im on completely stock now.
Really hoping for a good nexus phone to come out this year.
Looks like there are some design flaws with this device like the power button. Not sure there are any solution beside using your warranty if you have one and buying a different phone.

Agree with you there. I don't believe there's a point trying to look why exactly some Nexus S die. It's specialized electronics and without the knowledge you could pretty much be poking your finger at everything and nothing for the rest of your life. And even if you find out the issue, doesn't mean you can fix it yourself... :/
Easier to just send it for repair and be done with it.
Edit: When I first got my Nexus I sent it for repair to Samsung. Came back with "BGA failure" on the work sheet. Bad soldering? Who knows.
Maybe, maybe its the CPU, this thing cannget hot sometimes. Maybe a contact messes up. Samsung is notorious for good hardware just dieing.

[Q] Need help with blank screen after replacement

Hi all. I'm having an issue with a 727R. I replaced a broken screen and now can't get the screen to stay on. Its a non rooted, factory 2.3.5 phone. When I turn it on, the sghi-727r screen pops up for several seconds and then dissappears, phone vibrates once, notification sounds appear shortly and all touch functions appear to work (by sound and haptic feedback). For all intents and purposes, this phone is on and working perfectly...if you're blind lol. I know the replacement screen works because it works perfectly if I go into download (odin) mode. I've been searching threads and haven't been able to come up with a solution, as most of the other blank screens are from bad flashes. Keep in mind that I am also testing this with the casing removed as it is a repair for a friend (if that makes any difference). Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
Is the brightness maybe turned ALL the way down? When it finishes booting shine a flashlite on the screen and tell me if u can see text, icons etc...
I'll do that as soon as I get home this afternoon. I could only hope that's all it is, but i'm a little skeptical that I could be so lucky. forgot to mention that I have also odin flashed the stock rom back on just in case of software corruption. I would also think that I would get full boot logo's during the boot sequence, but hey!....its definately worth a shot! I've seen stranger things . Thanks for the quick response.

So you had display for start of boot and d/l mode? If so, then I'll go no farther until I get another replacement screen.:crying:. Come to think of it, when plugged in and off, the charge symbol shows up for a second and its discoloured (almost like its made of vertical lines that are pinks and grays). You may have just saved me a lot of time. I was leaning toward trying to adb error logs in hopes of finding something. Other than that it was going to be a reflow on the gpu since the phone did do a leap of faith from 6 ft up....and lost lol.

[Q] Suddenly, My Phone Will Not Power On

I've tried searching but no one seems to have this same issue. Or where I saw people with the same issue, they just stopped responding to suggestions and no resolution was reported. So if anyone can help me I'll definitely post until the end!
It started a couple days ago: my phone kept switching orientations (portrait/landscape) as if I were rotating the phone in my hands, but I wasn't. It would happen if it was being held upright, or even laying down on my desk.
Yesterday into this morning it got really bad. It would switch orientations literally every second. I started backing up as many apps as I could, but that was incredibly hard because the buttons moved every time the orientation rotated.
I was able to boot into recovery and make a data/system backup from there.
During the course of the day today my phone eventually just shut off. Now it will no longer power up. I have tried booting normally, as well as into recovery or download mode, but it responds to nothing. There is no screen flash; there is no vibrate. Absolutely no response.
I have swapped batteries with a friend who has the exact same phone. My battery works fine in his phone. His battery produces the same results in my phone: no response to anything.
When plugged in the phone behaves the same: no charging light, and unresponsive to any combination of button presses.
So... being that I'm rooted and likely out of warranty, is there any way I can fix this myself without going to Verizon?
Thanks a TON in advance to any replies! My fingers are crossed...
I've been seeing a lot of this (power button failures) lately. Are you on CM 10.2 by chance?

I was on AOKP Milestone 2, which I believe was based off of 10.2. I could be wrong, but it was either 10.2 or 10.1.
But this seems like a hardware failure, no? What would the ROM have to do with it? Not to come off as brash; just curious.

Try getting yourself a USB Jig off eBay or something or make one if you're crafty with electronics.
it should get you into download mode and then you can odin back to stock witch will atleast bring you a functioning phone
good luck
heres a video of the Jig getting this hardbricked s3 into download mode from the same Power on conditions you listed

Great find. Yeah he definitely has exactly the same symptoms as me. Although he bricked it by flashing things improperly. Mine just started out of nowhere.
Hopefully that makes no difference. I don't think I can wait for a "jig" to arrive. I'll probably try to make one myself. Anyone have one near Minneapolis that I could borrow for a few minutes?
I'll keep you all posted.
Well, good news and bad.
Good news: I made a jig. Bad news: it won't revive my dead phone. I tried the jig in an old S3 with a cracked screen and the jig puts that phone into download mode just fine. But nothing will wake up the other S3.
Could the micro USB port be damaged on my phone? What else could be causing this?

Not sure. It was working for a couple months just fine on that ROM. This feels more like a hardware issue...
Being that the USB Jig didn't work, I'm not sure what options I have left. Anyone know how a JTAG works? Would that be an option?
Or am I just hosed?
it might be a faulty motherboard. its like something wrong with the actual gs3. that or your battery is dead. but if not its definately a hardware issue. try buying a new motherboard to exchange the bad one
