[Q]: Is tethering working for your Moto Atrix & latest The DarkSide ROM? - General Questions and Answers

I have an unlocked AT&T Moto Atrix 4G, that I previously had The DarkSide v1.5 installed. Mobile Wifi Tethering worked fine (as it didn't with the stock ROM, and required a damn tethering subscription to use the feature). So, last night, I followed the instructions and wiped and flashed to the latest The DarkSide ROM v3.1. Tethering now requires a subscription again ("Account not set up for Mobile Hotspot, goto att.com/mywireless... yada yada...).
How do I get it back?

I have thia exact same problem. Wireless tether for root users is also not working. Anyone have any suggestions?

[Q] Wifi tether (rooted) not Working htc evo

I just got a brand new replacement evo from sprint that came with froyo 2.2 on it.
I rooted using this method
and now I am on the stock 2.2 rom that came with unrevoked pt 2. when flashing
I've installing 5 different versions of wifi tether and none of them work
windows just says "no network access"
then when I plug in USB and select "usb tether" from the dropdown
I get "error 67. Registration Failure. Your PCS Vision username and/or password may be incorrect. please try again."
I have a feeling it has something to do with this particular version of Root I did.
I have superuser access and can delete sprint apps.
but in adb shell I still see $
because last time I rooted wifi tether worked like a charm, and the stock htc usb tether also worked no questions asked.
I know I could always use pda net, but it's nice to know the phone will work out of the box with any computer.
any words of wisdom on this? should I just install some custom rom that has it built in? I rather like the stability of stock Roms.
was I supposed to flash radio? I really have no idea and have been trying to figure this out for a few hours now.
Android Version: 2.2
baseband version: 2.15.00.07.28
kernel version: 2.6.32.15-g746f4f0
software number: 3.26.651.6
browser version: Webkit 3.1
PRI version 1.40_003
Use android tether
I could never get the sprint/htc apps to work. I'm using the android wired/wireless tether apps and they work fine.
Just google android wifi tether and android wired tether, I can't post links.
So...
I have the same issue with my evo I just purchased... were you able to fix it? Neither of those programs worked for me.
Not working for me as well...
i just got my evo friday oct 15th... fresh root and wifi tether is not working, seems to want to activate the sprint tether as well, im thinking i have to load a new rom and ditch the stock rom.... in order for it to work, kinda bums me out, didnt wanna mess with the roms out there... any advice on how to remove the sprint tether app ?
wifi tether
I just recently got my evo also and was running into the same problems as yall. After lots of research and deleting stuff off of the phone that i wasnt supposed to i had to flash back to complete stock and reroot with unrevoked3. as it turns out only certain kernels work with the wifi tether. and as far as the sprint native wifi or tethered ones those you have to pay for. its an extra 30 bucks a month. the unrevoked3 method seemed to be the easiest method out. but thats just my opinion. hoped this helped out guys. oh yeah the unrevoked3 root works just fine with the wifi tether (rooted)

What process did you use? Does that include the USB tether as well?
I don't think the usb tether works with the WiFi tether. I am pretty sure it is just a wireless tether. The unrEVOked3 method I used was the latest one from the website.
Sent from my unrEVOked3 EVO using the XDA app.
I run Fresh and havn't had problems with tethering.

The USB tether fix supposedly works for wifi too. It disables authentication so you can use the stock hotspot app.
can you confirmed you have root? use the unrevoked forever method, quite easy. the next thing is install Wireless Tether for root, idk why hotspot is turning on. at this point it's useless.
if your haveing problems useing android wifi tether 2.02 on your rooted evo witch is the one offerd in Market then goto android wifi tether site and download the experimental version 2.05 copy the .apk to SD card and install it, it works great

[Q] Anyone have issues with wireless tether? **FIXED**

I cant use wireless tether since I updated to the new radio & ruu. I was running rooted stock ruu before and have been using Adrynalyne's 4.4.2 kernal
I have applied the radio v2 and used this method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1042004
I tried wireless tether v2.0.5,6 & 7 and no luck, has any seen this issue or know a way to fix
If there is a post already, I apologize but haven't found it by searching
I was able to correct the issue... after trying all versions I uninstalled thru titanium backup and cleared data with tb and reinstalled 2.0.7 and now it works...

Anyone having issues with tethering?

I can't seem to get any tethering apps to work. No barnacle, Android wifi tether for root users, Foxfi, nothing...I'm rooted and unlocked, currently running the rooted stock 2.20 ROM, but I've also had Milestone 6.3 and 6.4 AOKP and same issue.
The wireless network shows up on my PC, but I can never connect to it. Any ideas?

Answered my own question.
In the Wifi tether app settings, change device profile to generic ICS, then hit menu and reinstall binaries. Worked immediately for me after that. Haven't tried barnacle again because I didn't need it, but Wifi Tether for Root users works great.

[Q] ZEUS Build 6 + Wi-fi Calling - Infuse 4G

I have a Samsung Infuse 4G on T-Mobile unlimited prepaid plan. I rooted the phone back when I had AT&T so I could test it on my girlfriend's T-Mobile plan just to make sure it worked.
Since then I've installed 2 custom ROMs - Darky's 10.4 and ZEUS Build 6. When on Darky's, I could get wi-fi calling using asianbobo's MOD, but ran into a lot of issues. Mainly I lost Bluetooth and wi-fi became spotty, plus Darky's sucked my battery dry in less than a day with minimal usage.
So after reading several forums and developing a plan of action, I used Odin 1.7 to go back to stock, re-rooted with SuperOneClick, then used Odin 1.7 again to install the Odin Cummunity Kernel so I could get beyond the CWM 3e recovery issue I was having (apparently the latest CWM or the latest SuperOneClick cause issues with using the old replacement 3e recovery method for enabling unsigned ROM installation, so I needed one that had the CWM update pre-set).
So where I am now is running ZEUS Build 6 with all the apps I previously had installed. I still have to restore a few things (like importing settings and such for certain apps), but I'm happy thus far with my choice. However, I would like to get Wi-fi calling back. I have the asianbobo MODs still - the Darky one, the ZEUS one, and the AnyRom one. However, before I proceed, I'd like to know if the ZEUS MOD will work with Build 6 (says it's for ZEUS Build 5 but I'm wondering if anyone has tried it on Build 6 or if it's just safer to use the AnyRom and modify the build.prop instead).
Any help with this, or any feedback from anyone who has tried this, would be much appreciated.
For anyone in the US having wi-fi issues with ZEUS, try flashing the CWM-UCKL2 modem found here.
Saved me from wanting to throw my phone.

[Q] previously rooted, now on VZ JB allows USB tether but not wifi hotspot?

I have unlimited data on Verizon, and when the 4.1.1 OTA first rolled out it blocked any tether/hotspot attempt by asking me to pay an additional $30 dollars to share the data.
So I flashed back to 4.0.4 and rooted, and used SQL Lite to edit the entitlement check to "0" before installing Voodoo and saving root. I updated back to 4.1.1 and lost my root somehow (probably because I didn't update the binaries or something?) but the entitlement check seems to have stayed.
However, my issue now is that I can't hotspot whatsoever as the phone tells me wifi hotspot is on, but none of my devices pick up the wifi signal. The only way I can get internet through my phone is if I use a USB tether, which is kind of a bummer since I would like to connect multiple devices in different locations. Can anyone figure out where I went wrong in the prior steps?

How did you flash back to 4.0.4? I wonder if you are still running the 4.1.1 kernel now. I think you may have to factory reset and use one of these procedures such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970267 which flashes a fresh 4.0.4 where you can root and vodoo rootkeeper BEFORE upgrading to JB. I have wifi tether working on JB using the SQL Lite edit process.
