Please help me, I just purchased my Transformer last night and went to root it with razorclaw. It had already been removed from the market so i downloaded the APK but got a parsing error when I attempted to install. I then downloaded it on my computer and put it on a microsd card. Still getting a parsing error. I don't know what to do.
That message is usually cause by app that's not compatible or a bad download.
Since we know it work for the TF it's probably a bad download.
Try a different browser or download manager. Have you tried downloading directly on the TF?
Yes but I also tried downloading it on my computer and transferring it over.
Have you tried installing any other apk? Do you get the same error or they install OK?
Ok so i downloaded a different APK and got the same error. I have allow unknown sources checked. So what is it then?
You can try a few things
-try an "app installer" (if market app install)
-If you have ADB, try installing via ADB
Code:
adb install <path_to_apk>
-You can also try to get a logcat while installing an apk to see what's wrong
-You might just have to do a factory reset as a last resort.
i had to let mine update then this error went away and rooting went silky smooth
Have you got the latest os version?
I downloaded it with opera mobile and it worked for me.

You need to be fully updated with 3.2.1 then it should work.

I can confirm that, I also had that problem with my wife's TF before I realized that I did not have the latest OTA update. After applying the OTA, it installed without problems. The tool is probably compiled with minimum API level 13 (HC 3.2), so trying to install on earlier versions will trigger that error (although I'd expect a message with better explanation of the error).

I've tried on the stock rooted GB OTA and on Xboarders tweaked GB and each time I attempt to Update, I get an Installation error: Package file was not signed correctly. This is occurring after factory resets as well.
Am I the only person encountering this, as I've not seen any mention of it in the forums?
Did you try removing the previous version first?

Not yet... I have tried freezing it with no effect on the outcome. Will give that a shot, but I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this issue or if my phone has been hitting the bong when I'm not looking.
Update: Removing the system version (2.1.3) allowed me to download and install the latest (2.1.4). But it just seems like a weird issue. I wonder if LG had done something to the 2.1.3 version that made it incompatible with updating.
Same issue here im gonna root then reinstall the app.
I've done just as mentioned in removing and installing however
The message of voice search being an "incompatible update" appears. Would either of you have the old apk or help with installation of the new one? Unfortunately I thought I backed up the old .apk but it never fully downloaded to my dropbox server ...Thank you in advance!
try rebooting phone first then go to market and try to install i had that error earlier today and a reboot fixed the issue if not try rooting first
Thank you
It is rooted, and it worked after rebooting twice. The first reboot didn't do anything after deleting the ap. Then after looking around I found the lib folder and deleted that too. Afterwards rebooted again and it installed, Thank you though!
no prob glad i could kinda help
Where is the lib folder?

i just noticed this last night, i tried to play a game of miniclip (lol dejavu) but the game never loaded,
i then downloaded it to my computer and then passed it to my phone,
i installed SWFPlayer from the market, and tried to run it but it gave me an error message that my phone did not have flash player installed, i went to the market and installed it, and tried it again, it gave me the same message,
i restarted my phone and tried again and it still didn't work, so i restored a NAND backup to test it and it worked this time so the issue is with the rom
I really like this rom is there a fix for this?
*Fixed* here is the same link from post #6 that fixed my issue
*url deleted* use attachment
Download to SD then flash/install through cwm

I would suggest asking dwitherell either by pm or in his Tweakstock thread, perhaps something he included (or left out) is causing the issue

I got the gingerbreak apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1044765 for my lg optimus v 2.2.2 downloaded it, turned on usb debugging and install non market apps, I ran the downloaded file and it started to install but was taking forever, so I exited out of it. everything has been screwed up since then... i uninstalled it and tried to re-download it from the same place and I cant do it. just keeps saying download unsuccessful, but i can download anything else... I dont have any network problems has installing it halfway ****ed everything up? what can i do?
Thanks in advance for any help
Try resetting factory settings before rooting.use adownloader or dolphin browser. The thing is that you are trying to download the same file again at same location, which is not possible. Try renaming the file, if you are using dolphin browser then it automatically renames the new file. Hope this helps!

My phone dosent want to update because at one point I was using TB and removed chrome from my phone and installed the app version from play store. Now when I go to update, it reboots into recovery, begins installing, then fails. When I check to see wy its not updating, it gives me a long string of numbers and letters and says .. chrome.apk .. and then it says update aborted.... so I was wondering if anyone knew a way I can fix this because I have a backup of chrome when it was a system app but when I install it, it still does the same thing.

Try rebooting after you're done and see if it did update. A few people have reported that the update said it failed, but when they rebooted the update actually did work. If that fails, then you can just update through RSD.

Yea, I've tried to update it tons of times and it keeps failing because of chrome not being a system apk. I did try the option on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33028928 but, realizing I was on 4.1.2, it failed again and since not using a nexus 7, I'm not sure it will work anyway. I could go with RSD but I was hoping there might be another way to fix it without wiping all the data.
Hello,
So I finally got the notification to download OTA Lollipop today, which I did. Problem is, when I went to install it, the phone restarted, an ERROR screen popped up. I restarted the phone, the update wasn't installed and now when I "Check for Updates" it says I'm up to date.
How can I install the update without side-loading it?

I had the exact same issue but it sounds like a good thing it didn't update from all the issues everyone keeps posting all over the net. Is your device rooted? OTA only works on completely stock devices I read somwhere.
I too ran into this problem. But before i returned my phone to stock i converted it to kali linux. At first i thought it was an encryption issue, so i restored my phone. I still received the error message.
To install kali linux i had to unlock the boot loader, then flash the software. I returned to stock by wiping, flashing stock, then locking the boot loader.
With Xposed not supporting 5.0 I am thinking of stating 4.4.4
I want to stay at 4.4.4. Can't get rid of the Update nag -- and I've tried everything.

I found my problem. My gps.conf file was edited by Faster GPS. I forgot to revert before the OTA and thus my error occurred. I hope this helps.
I'm still getting the same issue after supposed install:
I've had the OTA notification for a while but it won't install. It downloads and then when it does the reboot I see it trying to update then I get the 'Red Triangle'. It reboots again back to 4.4.4
Phone was rooted but still using the stock ROM so I did a factory restore, I'm still getting the same issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
