Hi
after leaking the GB rom, many custom roms have made from it..
i dont know really which one is better?!!
which is the best rom for daily use?
which one has best Battery life.. optimized ram.. overall speed and stability..
for example there are some Acura rom.. i don't know which one is the best.. there are several topics!
how is battery life in overclocked roms?
i know there was an old topic similar to mine.. but that was about 2.2 roms..
I am currently using Official v21a rom, quite good but I'm not impressed, so if anyone can please specify why they like the rom they vote for it would be pretty nice...
ThiaiZ for me
ThiaiZ GB v2.1 all the way XD
Speed is great, no lag so far, unlike before I updated to this rom.
battery life on original battery is much better than stock froyo and thiaiz froyo roms.
Did I mention im overclocked to 1100MHz, small and noticible improvment with speed and such and as far as i can tell no significant loss of battery life in doing so.
As for stability, when overclocked to 1188 I had 3 restarts over 2 days and now ive change the clock speed to a bit lower (1100 as i said above) i havent had a restart yet so fingers crossed.
To me acura come second, but they have great roms too. Its a close one between the GB acura and ThiaiZ GB rom but I would have to say im a ThiaiZ guy XD
Good luck in your choosing
I actually like stock rom with root best. Sure its Quadrant score is low but my favourite games (icebreaker hockey and Home Run battle 3D) actually runs smooth on that ROM. On Acura and Crime_of_hearts ROMs I had lags in those games.
Stock with root gives me the best user experience. Menus and interface also feels smoother with it.
I've just upgraded to the V21a Euro open and will be testing the O.C.'ed roms in due course when my C.W.M. issues are solved.
LOL!?!?!? OFFICIAL FIRST??? WTF!! Acura is the best by far

I Agree. If you like to brag about high quadrant scores Acura with overclock is best.
But original LG Rom (with root) is the only ROM I have tried that doesn't have small annoying issues such as lag, Force Close and hangs.
Icebreaker Hockey wasnt playable on Acura with overclock even though it had an quadrant score of almost twice the original ROM. Still the original ROM never lags or hangs.
Maybe the CPU works too fast for the RAM and Filesystems?
ThiaiZ for me
I think thiaz for me to
i think king rom should have more votes
I've been using Stock 2.3 ROM, and so far it is impressive, no FC, no restarts and no Lag.
I vote Official Gingerbreak. No lag, no FL, ....

with other kernels, kings rom is usable

Ok, ive been doing some research and it looks like eagals blood is prob the rom for me. I was wondering if i could get some advice on this, i am currently unrooted so im stock , this phone is killing me when it comes to battery life, the stability is so so, but my real problem is battery life i charge my fone about 3 times a day. I am a crazy heavy user, fb, texting about 200-400 message a day, phone calls every now and then, games (words with friends), and just random internet stuff. so my phone is like my life! My friend has a samsung captivate and he can go 12-14 of heavy usage prob not as much as me but he doesnt have it charging all the time like me. I was wondering what rom i should use to achieve great battery life and not lose out on stabilty or speed, look doesnt matter bc i use UTO kitchen.
Are you looking for an Android 2.3.3 or 2.3.5 ROM?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Hey man if you want a 2.3.3 rom that is stock the best is Xboarders stock tweeked rom it is super stable and everything works and the battery life is great. I use that ROM myself when I am in a stock mood. You hit it on the head with eaglesblood it is the best rom out there. I use the 1.08 verion it is based off GB 2.3.5 it is a mix a cm7 and EB goodness. The battery life is also excellent on it but you will not have A2DP (thats BT stero music) And you cant flash the stock froyo LG camera and there are APN issues that A hard reboot fixes every time. All of the problems I just mentioned are not specific to EB they are however specific to GB 2.3.5 for the g2x. It has something to do with Nivdia not relesing something drivers or sorce I dont know what exactly but thats why. You have to make a choice. I hope this helps you. Oh I alklmost forgot I am a heavy user like you except not text mssgs or phone calls but net data data data I had to change my plan to the 10 gig plan 5 was not enough. So what I did was I got the extended battery for the O2x it fits perfdectly and it was only $30. Before that I had 2 stock batterys with an external charger that worked ok too but I hated changing the battery half way through the day you should look into that. Good luck man.

i dont mind i want something stable, fast and great battery life...what does A2DP mean...im going to try EB 1.07 bc i hear no1 has problems with that...
A2DP is Stereo Bluetooth Audio... That's only important if you listen to music using a Stereo Bluetooth Headset.
For battery life, I'd recommend a CM7 based ROM, with either a stock, or undervolted kernel, such as faux123.

I agree with FatalityBoyZahy,
I did see a battery life increase after installing CM7, but the most dramatic change in battery life came after installing faux's 0.4.1 undervolted kernel.
And no the speed and stability don't drop, at least not with faux's kernel.
I would imagine that a 2.3.3 stock GB based rom such as Xboarder's tweaked or EB 2.3.3 plus faux's stock GB kernel would produce the best battery life, as I remember experiencing a huge jump in battery life from CM7 to stock GB.
However, I feel like besides the great battery life, the stock GB roms are ****ty compared to CM7 in terms off features and stability.
For example you can't do Netflix or gtalk video on stock GB.
Also I didn't experience this, but some users experience reboots and other such nonsense on stock GB.
So in Summary:
- stock 2.3.3 based rom (EB 2.3.3 is your best bet here in my opinion) + faux kernel = best battery life
- cm7 based rom (EB 2.3.5 or latest CM7 nightly) + faux kernel = best choice for both great battery life and better stability/features

No. The only risk is that you might run into stability issues, but using morfic's UV11 it isn't an issue.
Undervolt, use SetCPU profiles, keep wifi/gps off when you're not using them, and keep your display brightness low. That will net you the best battery life.

I believe the faux kernel is here: [Kernel]CM7 [2.6.32.45] (v0.4.1) OC~1.55GHz/UV/SLQB/BFQ/EXT4/Voodoo [Aug-27]
Looks like the CM version of the kernel is preferred by some in that thread (has to do with the battery driver).
Question: In terms of flashing the kernel, should I flash the ROM first and then the kernel? Or the other way around? (Or does it not matter?)

Always ROM then kernel.
And I prefer the CM version of faux's kernel as well. Supposedly the DS version has better battery life but I've never been able to notice because I'm always busy pulling my hair out over the jumpy and wildly inaccurate readings.

i would have to agree with this guy ^^^
SS v5 is the best rom hands down, dopest dope you've ever smoked
I get at least 40+ hours of moderate use, and only have to charge every other day.
CM7 nightlies Scary Kernel Stable because it's the fastest most up to date rom with the best battery life.
Mik 1.6, smooth and functional... no custom Kernel as of yet though.
I run a newer cm7 nightly. I used to run shift deck which is really close to stock AOSP which is what I want but it hasn't been updated in ages so I went with CM7 which does have a few bells and whistles (some call it bloat) on top of stock AOSP like ADW launcher and a few things like that but for the most part it still feels like an AOSP rom and you can very easily set it up to look and feel exactly like AOSP.
I am using the stock kernels that come with the roms now. They have overclock options and seem fine. I have used scary stable but didn't notice any difference so I don't bother any more.
I really like Sense roms as I feel they are more fluid mostly when swiping between home screens but I cannot stand that there is about a 5 minute timer on the notification light before it shuts off even if you haven't cleared the notification. I rely on that light while I am at work so I have to stick with an AOSP ROM that flashes the light indefinitely until I clear it. I can also set the light to flash orange or green depending on which notification I am receiving which I find handy for text messages which I place a larger priority over than say a Wordfeud notification while I am at work
I usually do one cycle of charge fully, wipe battery stats, discharge completely until phone shuts off then recharge fully whenever I flash a new ROM and I haven't noticed any better or worse battery based on which ROM I have used.
How's battery life on Mik 1.6???

What exactly are you waiting on? Do you mean you just haven't rooted? Because you can now Root GB Shift's by downgrading to Froyo. Check HERE and HERE. Either of those threads will get you rooted if your on GB . As for MikShifted G v1.6 by aamikam, it is an excellant Rom . You should also check out Supreme Sense V5, by strapped365. It's based off MikShifted G , with a lot more eye candy . Both of those are Smooth, Stable, and quick. I have both of those running on serveral different devices with NO issues. Still waiting on the Source Code Kernel to be able to overclock. But both of those run excellent without being overclocked ( this coming from a SPEED Junkie ) .

I'm not saying scary stable is bad. But for MY shift
Scary average battery temp - 136°
PershootV9 average - 101°
Big difference. That's when im actually using my phone, i multitask a lot.
Scary kernel - while playing my game online ill lose connection about once every 5 minutes
PershootV9 - never lost connection once, only like 2 or 3 lag bumps
Battery life for appears to be about equal give or take maybe an hour.

In your opinion what's the best ROM for nexus s and why?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Right now Oxygen 2.3.2 Workds great for me. But CM7 and NSCollab are also 2 very great Roms. In the end you have to test yourself which Rom fits you best..
for whatever reason, anything CM-based has always run clunky for me on this phone. bugless beast is good, but imo oxygen is your best bet.
i run carbon co2 1.1, which actually runs a lot smoother for me than oxygen despite it just being a themed oxygen mod.
there is no best , everyone has his/her own damands and needs
also , every ROM has its own good point and weak point , all depends on what you want
-------------
for the moment , i like MIUI brainmaster , good UI although kills my battery very fast but i have additional one , so i wouldn't worry about it

Hi There,
Generally there's no "Best Rom"... every rom has its pro & cons as well as its own features ... I suggest you to try a couple of them mentioned on this thread, all of them are really valid, result of great work of many and skilled developers.
To me, KelLMSKing MIUI 2.6.2 ( http://goo.gl/oMIiE ) runs really fast on my phone more then CM7.1 with which I had many problems.
The latest Oxygen release to me is the best. Very fast. Rock solid stable. Great battery life.
It dies nit add anything fancy, just keeps the look and feel of stock.

Yesterday I decided to give oxygen another look and to me it takes too many things out of stock. You can't hold press to change the wall papers, the phone icon in the launcher is not as nice looking as stock, the music app is out dated and it won't update to the new one you have to just have 2 music apps and there was a few other things that bugged me also but those were the top 3 I can think of.

Hi guys I have gone from one ROM to another all professing to be the smoothest or most stable but all have left some what of a bitter taste in my mouth. My current ROM seems to be the most stable and have all the basic modcons working AndroidHD v1.0 | ICS
So I’m on a UK I9020 and I’m like preferably ICS over GB and main important points to consider for me would be
Battery Life, Stable, and Fast,
I am a bit of a power user but the ROM don’t have to have to many mods or sparkles just need something that doesn’t reboot at least twice a day and gives me battery life for 12 hours plus with fair use of apps and internet.
Please help at the end of my tether
yeah i'm in the same spot...i have been trying some ics roms and many claim "fast & stable & rock solid & butter smooth" etc
But they dont feel that way to me...i really like ics but i think its still slowish. GB is way faster.
Currently on codenameandroid 1.2.0 with matr1x 15.5 cfs
Come on guys don't all hide now lol, need your applied knowledge. Some one must have some thing they can recommend
try AndroidMe 1.1.0 not a single issue for me ,when on others ics roms i had fcs and reboots.
battery life around 16h with 3h of 3g and 3h screen on with brightness set at 68%.
CM 9 1.1 has been stable and brutally fast, better than stock IMHO. Only thing missing is FB sync.

Only thing thats kept me from CM roms is the worry that apps wont work with them, what sort of uptime do you get?
kangy v10 or AOKP milestone 3, damn good , with Matr1x kernel.
smooth , stable , battery friendly
im using the last cm9 kang with a bare boned(no mods added) trinity kernel, not a single stutter or speed bumbs. fast, stable, and everything works.
Now I'm using CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.5 HYBRID+Matr1x 14.5CFS, well, as far as I can tell, it is quite stable and battery is not draining so fast.
Try some roms with AOSP tags, these roms have less modifications and mods, and maybe have a better better performance.

Stock is stable, but a bit slow. but the slow problem is same in other custom roms.
I don't have the problem of battery drain.
Downloading 4.0.4 rom ported from NS4G. Hope it fix the speed problem.
Don't want to use 2.3 anymore, though 2.3 is fast and stable
I tried these custom roms -

Miui - although I am a Chinese, don't like this Chinese rom.
Slow. Don't know the cause. Rom still in alpha? Or wasting CPU power on beautiful ui?
Unfamiliar ui Is another problem. Not my cup of coffee

Only thing thats kept me from CM roms is the worry that apps wont work with them, what sort of uptime do you get?

No reboots on stock kernel and CPU speed. Overall, I've found all ICS ROMs to be moe robust than gimgerbread, with very little issues.
Hi
I'm wondering what you think is the best custom Froyo ROM. I want to downgrade to Froyo because I am afraid getting called by ghosts p), and I think the stock ROMs are way too slow.
I have been considering "froyo acurarom maximum velocity new line v3", but I think the OC for CPU and GPU are too high. I am reading about people getting constant reboots, in the ROM thread.
Any recommendations based on your experience?
I have always stayed away from Acura ROMs, as I have tried a few and they are not consistent.
Back in froyo, I used thiaiZ ROMs, pretty good ones, though I can't find the links on this board any longer.

When i went back to froyo i used Acura's new v1.3ghz ROM. It was pretty good and fast. CPU was clocked at 1.3ghz.

Ok. Was it stable? I think 1.3 Ghz is way too high overclock. Been reading people getting constant reboots with that ROM.
Stable*
*Its a little unstable if you constantly leave it on 1300mhz, just use setCPU to turn it down to 1ghz stock clock speed when youre not playing games or running cpu intensive applications. it'll idle fine on 1ghz

Ok, nice. Is the stock launcher stripped from this ROM? I would like a stock like, but fast ROM
