[Q] EDT Tweaks and Extended Power Options for Stock KJ6? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Any one know the best way to add some mods to the stock KJ6 Build? I would like to add the EDT Tweaks and extended power options to my phone but I haven't found one that is for the Stock GB or for the KJ1 Kernel that I am running. I would also Like to add the CRT animations but when I tried the one for KJ3 it didn't work for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanx

Check airfluips kj6 if u have CWM
It's got the crt on and off and smooth as silk..I just added tw4 to it..runs great. If someone has the EDT tweak I think that would complete what you're looking for.

Try installing this. I'm unsure on if you need any modifications passed root to use this, tbh
Never tried it myself ;P

Guys, well, you can't just "install" EDT Tweaks. :You have to be a rom dever. It requires decompiling of things

I would PM whitehawkx and let him know what your trying to do and he may point you in the right direction. You will at least have to modify the framework-res.apk and probably the systemUI.apk to get it to work. It's not as simple as just dumping the EDT-Tweaks.apk in your system app folder.

Beat me to the punch. lol

I figured as much, which is why I was asking. I noticed that they were built for certain kernels and I didn't see one for KJ6.

Stock Sidekick 4G "ThemeChooser" Themes

At the bottom of this post you will find a download link to a zip containing all the themes that the sidekick came with.
Some people may be on a custom ROM like Smooth Maximus and dont have the themes, or just removed them and want them back.
This is just so no one has to go through the trouble of downloading a stock ROM the searching through all the system apps to find the themes themselves . So i've decided to package em together for ya.
This is not flashable so you have to unzip them and use a root file manager (root explorer, super manager ect.) and push them to System/app. You Need to be rooted or it wont push the apps.

this is great ill push them through with the ginger clone!

Anyone figure out how to customize these themes? (especially the colors schemes)
I can easily change the wallpaper with Android wallpaper options, but the color schemes can be difficult to read with some color combos (like black text on dark green background).
Thanks for posting these!
I'm excited to download it once they're uploaded. My phone is so lost without the themes.
Hey i pulled these directly from ayoteddy's stock deodexed rom. All you have to do is push them to your system apps directory and restart your phone. Tested on my phone. Also sorry i had computer problems so had to upload them to my 4shared on my phone. http://www.4shared.com/zip/7Hu9zeYZ/sidekick_4g_themes.html

[MOD][CWM][EI22] 1x/3G (CDMA/EVDO status icon) Fix - Corrected Sprint Icons - 11/20

EI22 - 1x/3g - CDMA / EVDO status icon fix
Fixes sprint's 3g icon lie.
Download http://senseisimple.com/downloads/MOD-EI22-1x3g-Fix.zip
Instructions
- Flash this in Clockwork mod (deodexed SystemUI.apk) - wipes dalvik cache, so may take a moment to boot
Once you flash, to check the action,
1 - Get your MSL - can be found by typing getprop ril.MSL in Terminal Emulator
2 - Dial ##DEBUG# (##33284#) on your phone, Enter your MSL
3 - Scroll to "Others" at the bottom of the list.
4 - Choose HDR/1X Selection
5 - Change from Hybrid Mode to CDMA Only Mode. This puts your phone in 1X only mode.
6 - Press OK, wait 30 seconds, you should see joy - see the 1x icon switch.
7 - Repeat steps 4-6, and set Hybrid Mode to switch back - VERY IMPORTANT.

Thanks to nivron for pointing right the direction.

This may not be as easy as it sounds for many users. All theme modifications will likely contain framework.jar, for example, but the differences between the common files may be more difficult to find.

I is indeed SystemUI so it will presumably revert some icons and details back to stock appearance. hopefully everyone integrates the fix into their rom because it's annoying to not know
All I did was replace the "classes.dex" file in this SystemUI.apk with the one already on my phone...it's the only change to the apk AFAIK. That way you keep all of your themed customizations, unless your theme also makes some type of change to the dex file.
Worked for me, but YMMV.

Awesome. Thank you very much, worked like a charm!

I just installed this on my phone and it is not working as i expected.
It changed the way the icons look (I'm assuming stock gingerbread). That it self really isnt a big deal.
My problem is that it now switches randomly between different apperence icons. Sometimes its the big sprint 3G icon, and others its the small stock gingerbread 3G icon.
How can i uninstall this?

I do like it very much. But the thing is the roms I use doesn't have it when u choose the stock look theme provided by thrm, (sometimes their themeing is ugly and Vey colorful ! I prefer stock big and simple notification icons)
So a separate CRT zip would be a great help, I think I'm not the only one wishing for this

For the Gingerbread ROM's i always did em myself using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24370886#post24370886
But since ICS came its harder because if you only modify the framework.res.apk file you end up with CRT effect and straight after it the screen blinks and then goes off.
For ICS you also need to mod some other files but my android skills are like zero so im stuck too....

any way here it is, hope it helps

beware that if you have a modded framework, flashing this will revert all other mods

Doesn't work on CleaNote V5 .
Right after the boot splash, the screen goes black. Need to go into Recovery by force (3 button combo) and reflash the ROM...
-----
Why should we put it in the internal SD? I keep all my flashables on the external SD (Serioux 16GB class 6) and never had any troubles...
Some people also recommended using the internal to flash from rather than external, on the Motorola ATRIX.
Any particular reason why? Scientific explanation

So Sammy puts so much work in the frameworks for every (small, I'd say) update? CRT animation was flickering even on 4.0.3 (XXLQ3 - RocketROM) and 4.0.4 LRK and LR6. I know CRT is tricky on ICS in general or so devs say?

I'd love to but I have yet to install JB. I'm planning on doing it sometime within the next few days hopefully, but I'm still reading and learning before I unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM.
After I flash though, I'd be happy to!
This would be the perfect rom imo
TouchWiz had some nice apps and features. JB is very lightweight and just flat out fast. The two together should make for quite a nice experience I'm sure
Some stuff might port over relatively easily, but some stuff has dependencies within touchwiz and is more difficult. I'm not a dev, but this kind of project might be a good place to start.. I really want my tw alarm widget back.
Yes it would be that simple. S-Voice pulled from Synergy is working on CM10

Like I said, some stuff probably is that easy, some stuff isn't. Some apps have tw dependencies that have to be removed/replaced or substituted.
Anything with tw dependencies, you might just be able to add twframework-res.apk to /system/framework. Hopefully it won't add anything else, and I would only do this if one of the touchwiz apps crashed, but I would assume all dependencies should be there.

No go.
How do we go about installing TW libraries? Any clue what/where that file would be? What it would look like? What to look for in case I find it?
While poking around in the Smemo apk AndroidManifest, I found this:
Code:
<uses-library android:name="com.google.android.maps" />
<uses-library android:name="touchwiz" />
<uses-library android:name="secmediarecorder" />
I'm not entirely sure, but perhaps this could be what's causing the apps to not install.

This is my 1st Rom I've ever posted on XDA, so be nice LOL and any help will be much appreciated:thumbup::
You are more than welcome to use any part of this Rom, just give credit to myself and anyone else mentioned please
This Rom will most likely not be updated, but with help from others with mods and other cool stuff we can add on the way, i will be more than happy to add if possible! No promises LOL
I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE! SO FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK! AND ALWAYS MAKE A BACK UP!

Thank you sir! I just wanted to make a stockish rom for our device with of course edge features and a few extras! And let the user mod it out the way they want to!
Well once I manage to get recompiling working and figured out I'll be glad to mod this to my liking but I'm still learning and can't seem to figure out why I can't recompile :/

Can I ask how you got floating messages to work? I've been trying to a while now. I found the correct updated airmessage and proxy apk's from s6 stuff and I know the csc entries but haven't found the correct secmms apk that won't crash. I'm downloading your rom now and am going to tinker with it some but wanted to see if you knew what needed to be edited in the mms apk after decompile or if not at all. Just trying to learn some more myself and thanks for putting this together I always need a solid base to fall back on.

What are you using to decompile/recompile? I use BDFreak's_2.0.2 APK Tool. He's got all the stuff you need inside and its a gui instead of the ol command line int. I did a lot of cool stuff on my note 3 with systemUI animations but haven't done anything yet on 5.1.1. Gonna try some stuff this weekend though.

I used tickle my android had a nice gui and everything else as well problem is in most steps I've ready I'm not sure if I need to install res-framework or the systemUI to my computer so I could actually recompile at the end! I Even tested recompiling something I had not edited period just decompiled so I could recompile and still no go maybe if I try that tool it may work? Not sure I'll give it a go in a few though and see what happens! If that fails then I guess it's time to make a thread and ask the pros ? since my Dumbass can't seem to get it lol

Yea man, the tool I use goes install frameworks, res and TouchWiz, then install systemui, then decompile, edit, them recompile. Also remember to move the original meta inf and android manifest to the new one before recompile.
I'll try some settings and system ui tweaks for this rom this weekend and share anything worth sharing.
