I dont know a lot about it, but what i DO know its the HDMI capability its directly related to the Kernel not to drivers, meaning that you would have to flash a SGS2 kernel... wich is impossible for hardware differences, you would only get a brick.
HDMI its technically already working with OUR infuse GB leaks, after the leaks brought us the GB bootloaders BUT theres a catch, you probably wont be able to root and some users have reported the HDMI still dont work.
IF you want HDMI ANY froyo based ROM will give you the HDMI and root.
Hope it solves your question and helps ya

Ive read different places that the official, or close to official GB rom has been leaked. I searched and didnt find it on here.
Is there actually a leaked version? And I am talking about a USA version that has hdmi support and is stable?
If there is and I am just missing it on here, could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
is this is true ... WOOooOOT

this is a leak, that can have HDMI working if you flash back the to the leaked Kernel with SGS kernel flasher or odin it back on there.
i have never used this, but i read about and just decided it was not worth it.....but i THINK this is close to what your looking for.

Thanks for the quick response...Im with you, id rather just wait.
I am running the froyo infused rom right now with the gingerbread launcher. I love it.
Overall, what benefits will GB bring over Froyo? I mean froyo has copy / paste, and brought us flash support, and I am running the GB launcher, so what will be the benefits?
Its a little snappier, you can use video chat on Skype, gchat. Sound latency is supposed to be improved, though I haven't noticed. Not sure what. Infused on froyo is great. I was really happy on it.
I've been running the newest gingerbread leak for a week and everything is great, including battery. I still have to delete some at&t bloatware though.

I'm on Rogers in Canada, purchased my infuse earlier this week and it came with Gingerbread 2.3.3 already installed!

Yeah, with 15FPS video recording and no HDMI. Sweet!

Thanks for the update! lol
Im not really in a rush for the GB update, as I just purchased my infuse and ready to flash some roms. Ill be busy for the next month.
For the others that are anxiously waiting, just try to keep busy with the phone and let time pass. Checking everyday is not going to help. lol. Im sure once its out, sooner or later, were going to hear more flash addicts about when new/updated roms coming out. smh

The 15fps is easily fixed, but the hdmi requires a new kernel not to mention the adapter that didn't come with the phone.

needs a new ROM too, hdmi needs support in the launcher and probably the framework as well. The video app is also special so it can output hi Res video and turn pdf the phone screen no simply mirror a low Res output to the TV.
I don't know if our phone uses the on-chip modems (I think it does not), but I would think this would give a big leg up to development, especially for the video drivers.

Is anyone actively working on ICS for our phones? I know we're in something of a "wait for drivers" holding pattern, but might this be enough to merit getting started on an AOSP build?
I'm working on something, will take a look.
No, the phone uses the msm8060 chip which does not have integrated modem. The modems it uses is the MDM9220 chip

Does not matter.
CPU/GPU wise, it's exactly identical to the MSM8660, just without a built in modem.
Strip out the modem parts, and it'll work fine.
Just got to find ICS modem drivers now.... or hack the **** out of ICS ones... haha.
Yeah that's right. Simply answering a question. I don't think much will happen until official ics is released for our device. Or at least until ics is released for any msm8x60 device. Q1 is what everyone is saying.. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
So, before y'all flame me, I don't know exactly how the ROM i'm about to discuss was created, but bear with me.
I use Infinity ROM for my Charge, which is a GSII port. Everything is up and working on it, 100%. The GSII has received official ICS from Samsung. Shouldn't we be able to port the GSII ICS to our Charges fairly easily?
This seems like a fairly easy way to get 4.0 for our phones, especially since Verizon has said we won't be getting it officially.
The ROM isn't the problem. The RIL (radio interface layer, I believe is what the acronym stands for) is the problem. The RIL is going to be unique to our phone, so there's no ROM port in existance that will really help. There are a few devs working on it now, and imnuts has said that his sources point to internal Charge ICS builds. If any of those leak, they would be helpful.
And the pre-existing RIL won't work with ICS?

I'm not into the code of it all, but jt has a working ICS build on the Charge with a partially working RIL (no data, wonky wifi, and a few other issues). I'm sure if it were as simple as taking the current RIL and transplanting it into the ICS build, we'd have a full-fledged ICS ROM out already.
InfinityROM is not a port of the GSII ROM, it is just a theme port, all of the underlying code is still the same as the EP4 OTA (more or less), just that it looks different. What we may be able to do with the SGSII ICS ROM is use the stuff related to the camera, since the primary camera on it is the same as the Charge. Otherwise, this doesn't really give us much we don't already have.

Good news for the camera issue ...one step closer
Quick questions. If im not mistaking the O2x is supposed to get ICS. IF that indeed happens what are the chances that it can get ported to our g2x? AND if indeed THAT happens would we be able to attain the drivers for hw acceleration? THEN if so how long would it prolly take before we can get a fully functioning ICS ROM?
(Positive thoughts, positive thoughts)
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'm going on theory based on what I've actually put in the time to read, something you should try.
Yes the O2X is reportedly to get from ICS LG
Ported like they port MIUI??? not likely, can they rip out the necessities we need for the G2X yes.
If/when LG releases ICS it will have fully functioning HW accel...
I'm assuming a very short period of time after LG releases or there is a leaked build of ICS for out chipset...
I'm pretty sure we can rip the code from the o2x for anything we need, it'll just take the grace of a good dev, and some patience on our part
Are there any ICS Kernels for Rogers devices?
Im looking for one that hopefully has:
Boot Animations
OC/UV
BLN
Will older kernels made for GB still work in the ICS leak?
Since the ICS leak was an AT&T build, I do not believe there are any kernels for Rogers specifically. As for the GB kernels working, I'm not sure; nor would I risk the chance of bricking by flashing one.
I'm sure someone will be around soon enough who knows more than I.

No kernel for Rogers and no kernel that has OC/UV and BLN yet also.
GB kernel will make you bootloop so don't bother with them. ICS kernel for ICS ROM...

I think i may have already flashed an unsecure kernel... i dont remember if i did or not.
Can anyone upload the stock kernel for me?
outside of a couple of insecure kernels, nothing else out there. i don't believe the source code for the kernels has dropped either. Once that happens I am sure there will be some out there with what you are looking for.
called Rogers today to inquire about the ics update that the sales person told me was coming soon 2 months ago and they told me they don't know when and if it's going to happen once samsung gives them the update they will put it out and that each rogers store is franchised, independently owned and operated so basically washed their hands of it and that I would need to deal with the store manager directly for any compensation or apology looks like canadians are going to wait a long time before we get official ICS next time def gonna go with a nexus and **** this bull****
Rogers updates, not
My 15 year experience as a Rogers customer has shown that it has never updated the kernel or firmware on the phones that I've purchased while every other non-canadian providers did (very frustrating).
Rogers only updates its bloatware. What you buy is what you live with unless you mod. If you want new firmware, Rogers wants you to buy a new phone.
As far as I know, the only exception to this "policy" is if you have an iPhone but then that's a different kettle of fish because you are dealing with Apple not Rogers. But I can't really confirm this as I've never been an Apple user. I don't care for Apple's Orwellian business model.
Ciao!

I agree with you Phil. I have had 3 Android handsets, and if I didn't root and flash, I would still be on ver 2.3.3.
It is a blessing that there are (collectively) these amazing individuals that can make sense of the software, to give us the plethora of features we get to enjoy.
Maybe it is just me, but I tried and tried my hand at modding... Let's just say, I would rather be envious of the Dev's than screw up my laptop again.
Thanks to all the Dev's that put in the time it takes to make these amazing mods.
