Not automatically.

you won't even have update if you are not using stock rom.
update from google will verify your system files ,if they don't match , then you won't be updated.
but you can flash the official ICS ROM when it is released

From CM9 to vanilla ICS? How?

Hi. I installed Koush's CM9 Alpha 11 on my Nexus S cos I just couldn't wait
It's a great build, but I'd like to be able to go back to vanilla android once Google releases ICS. Can I flash the 2.3 build from ROM Manager and will it update then it how can I go back? I'm aware that I'll probably lose root then, but that's not an issue.

It should work ive done it before, soon you flash 2.3 from rom manager, check your phone for update and install 2.3.6 from there
Thanks. That's a relief

Oh well. i guess, i'll have to see what happens, Shivammcool. If it doesn't work using ROM Manager i gotta find another way. But thanks for your comment anyway.
Shortly after Google releases the OTA someone here will have it uploaded for you to flash.
I hope it will be uploaded to ROM Manager. The latest stock ROM there is 2.3.3 i think.. RM and CWM recovery make things so easy

[Q] Need some advice whether to upgrade P3100 to JB or flashing custom JB rom?

Hi All,
Would need some of your advices and idea whether I need to upgrade my current P3100 running stock ICS 4.0.4 (THL version) to OTA leaked JB with Indian version or the custom JB rom one? I not sure if there are any pro & con between stock ICS and stock OTA JB or custom JB one?
Appreciate for your advice and noted that very few active threads for this device not like other very active like SII, SIII...etc.
Anybody pls?

Its really up to you! If you're unhappy with stock and want a load of customization go with aokp
If you want customization go with cm10/9
If you like the stock but you really want to flash something go flash deodexed/debloated stock by romswell
Flash The ota leak is if you're really curious to see what samsung has done!
Edit: I almost forgot flash paranoid android if you want to customize the size color and the behavior of each app selectively!

[Q] stock 4.2 unrooted rom with photosphere?

I have been on the 4.1.2 stock rom for a while, and want to get a rom that is as stock as possible for 4.2, but the search have failed.
My requirements:
1. 4.2
2. comes with photosphere
3. unrooted
Is there such ROM?
There will never be a stock 4.2 on Nexus S, Google said 4.1 will be the last official update for it.
Well, not the official. But something that's closest to the galaxy nexus or nexus 4 ROM.
cyanogen 10.1 once its a stable release...

Btw, root only brings advantages, so why would you like a ROM without root?

My suggestion : Flash Jellyshot ROM it's like stock and search for flashable photoshphere there are some flying around. and Root is good for the device. So let it be..

[Q] ROM update help

So recently my phone, Galaxy Victory L300, has received an update, MG5 to ND4. I made a ROM based off MG5. Is there a way to make my ROM based off of ND4 but flash onto MG5 phones without harm? The update changes kernel source, adds some apps, and changes the baseband and a few other things. The only way to do the update is to be on the stock ROM and do it, then flash a ND4 ROM onto it. Thx ?

[Q] XT926 won't boot after installing cyanogenmod

I am trying to install my first custom ROM on my XT926 ota kk 4.4.2 rooted bootloader unlocked. I have cwm 6.0.4.4 and I have tried installing cm 10.2 stable and then I tried cm 11 snapshot and it says it has installed .zip files successfully but when I reboot it just hangs up on the M logo and I have to restore my ota to get my phone to reboot, any help would be appreciated, thanks.
I believe most of the Roms in the Dev forum are still using 4.1.2 base, which means you cant flash them unless you go back to jb first.
There are some 4.4 test builds around you could flash on kk, sorry I don't have the link to them.

I tried one of the cm 11 ROMs from cyanogenmod's website, are you saying that those are also designed for the 4.1.2 kernel? If so does anyone have any suggestions on how to revert back to the jelly bean kernel, Also I was wondering if its OK to download the custom rom.zip file directly to the phone and put it in the right directory instead of moving it from the computer.
Unless they were updated to 4.4 source in the last week, I would say they are still on jb source. Most of the Roms you will find are a jellykat mix.
I posted a guide in the general forum, near the bottom you will find a pre-edited jb file you can use to flash with rsd.
Yes you can DL Roms right to your phone if you wish.
