Maybe your card is formated to fat32 which max.file is 4GB.
Format to other file system.

Hi, SD card is formatted FAT32 and the formatting of the largest file that can be loaded is 4 GB. You have to split video file, either it or reformat the resolution of video for LG Optimus 3D(800x480) and reduce its size.

SD Card Issues

I bought a new 32 gig sd card, I copied the filed on my existing card to a folder on my computer then transferred it to my 32 gig sd card. When I try flashing a rom from my new card it doesn't go thru, if I try flash it from my old sd it go thru fine.
What is happening or what am I doing wrong ?

Its a Sandisk 32 gb SD card. I bought it online cant remember exactly where right now.
What file format did you use to format it?
Not sure I used the formatter in the link above. Is there a specific format and formatter I need to use?

Yeah, I'd like to know as well... I have an 8g card and I did a 512 ext and the rest Fat32... do I need to set the ext partition to ext3 or will that happen automatically depending on the rom...

Okay guys I need to figure this out so here goes again:
I just bought a 32gb scan disk SD card to replace a 8gb I had. When I try flashing a ROM or rebooting in recovery with the 32gb card in the phone it gets stuck on that black screen with the android logo and the triangle. If I use my 8 gb card everything proceeds smoothly. I have formatted it but I get the same result.
Can any one tell me how to fix this problem?
Do you have a card reader on your computer? I had a similar issue when I was using the "quick format" option in windows. Once I did the longer version it worked fine.

[Q] What is the best way to format a large capacity microSDHC card?

I purchased a 32GB class 4 microSDHC card for my Sensation 4G. I would like to format it so that I can store some large files over 4GB in size. (FYI: These are not pirated HQ porn films.) What would be the best format and method of formatting this card?
FAT32 can't have files over 4GB & I don't think the phone will recognize a card formatted to NTFS
Just toss it into your phone, go into settings>SD & Phone Storage> unmount the card, and then format it. The phone will format it Fat32.

No problem
It can sounds like a noob question, but,:
When using Panasonic SD FOrmatter, in OPTION tab
What could be the best options to use?
FORMAT TYPE:
- QUICK
- FULL ERASE
- FULL OVERWRITE
FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT:
- OFF
- ON
Thanks
X 2, just want to see what you say.
I typically just do quick format to Fat32 with no size adjustment, ironically just today I used SD Formatter to format 4 sd cards using that method. As always, no issues whatsoever.

Cannot copy 4gb file to sd card

I am using a 16gb sd card in my Sensation. I tried copying a 4.3gb mkv video file to it. But I got an error saying 'file is too large for this file system'.
The card was previously used in my Desire. And when I rooted the phone I partitioned it and formatted it in FAT32 file system. I know FAT32 has a limitation of 4gb. So should I format my sd card in NTFS file system or is there any other solution?
i dont think you can any file bigger 3-4gb in micro sd even if its 64gb memory cqrd

wrong.
You just stated your error OP, it's because it's the FAT32 file system. You have to reformat it to NTFS to transfer files >4 gigs. I'm quite positive that there's no other way to solve the issue as of now
So if I format the card in the phone will it be formatted in NTFS system? Or should I format the card in my pc and then put it in the phone?

Has anyone tried this and had Android function as it's supposed to? I know Android formats by default to FAT32, would the system remain stable as NTFS?

Me too I had looooooooooooots of doubts but after I partitioned it today regretted every moment without ext!!!!!!
So I partitioned it through CWM 256 ext and 32 swap and when using link2sd it's exactly like apps are in /data(widgets...)
I don't know about risks coz I didn't face any
PM me for any question I'm ready to help!
I too have a doubt when I partitioning my SD card all my data in it will gonna erase

Yes, partitioning your SD card will format it and erase everything on it, so back it up first.
The point of an ext partition is to extend the internal memory, so you can load it up with apps and not run out of internal storage. This comes in handy on the ov which has very little internal memory to begin with. With an ext partition, you can use apps like link2sd to create symbolic links to your apps, so they can be on the sd card, but the "think" they are on the internal. This way you can move apps that can't be normally moved to the sd, or use widgets, which need to be on the internal memory. I, however like cronmod's ext scripts. They can be put in the init.d of some roms, and they will move your data partition, and/or dalvik, and/or data/apps to the ext. That way you don't have to manage apps like with link2sd. In a sense, it's like adding straight to the internal memory.
To partition your sd card, the easiest thing is to do it from a custom recovery. You won't get to choose the filesystem, but you can choose the size of the ext partition and swap. Keep swap at zero, as most phones here won't use it. Set your ext partition to ~10% of the size of the sd card.
If you want a different filesystem than your recovery gives you, you can use the minitool partition wizard on your pc with a card reader:

Is swap partition really helpful for low ram devices and O1??
Do we need to use any script to use of swap memory or is it done automatically??!
Edit: Good info about swap partition.
hope this can help you!

Actually swap is not needed for o1.Even on ics i have about 150-200 mb of free ram most of the time, and if u make swap partition u'll get even more free ram.But remember unused ram or free ram is nothing but waste of ram in linux, unlike windows.
