Hey guys I have the HTC dinc. Its time for a upgrade im in love with rooting. So what phone (from Verizon) is the best for roms? Simplified what phone has the most and stable roms? Maybe a bigger and constantly updated roms? Which phone would you guys say is the best for that? Thank you. If you didnt get completely what I said let me know. Thanks
get the galaxy Nexus when it comes out. Its gonna be huge in the rom community.
Galaxy nexus if you like aosp, it will run ics the best. Looking at the history of the nexus s there hasn't been much variety in different roms like sense or touchwiz. For sure you will have solid aosp roms like cyanogen and miui. Though it may seem that the galaxy nexus will be more popular then the nexus s, only time will.

the best phone is samsung galaxy SII.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
I think ROM DFT very good!
Don't listen to the people saying SGSII. Why? Because it is not, and never will be available on verizon. Get the Galaxy Nexus which should be available within a few weeks.
I would go for the samsung galaxy s 2, but if you don't want to spend too much money you could go for the samsung galaxy s i9000. Which has a large asortiment of custom roms and is much cheaper! I have mine for about one year and I'm still thrilled, especially with the Ice Cream Sandwich custom rom update!

Troll........
U can't know before the phone comes out how big the Dev community will be for the device. Just keep your eye on the forums to see whats hot hot hot. Take the thunderbolt started out as the 4g verizon flagship but the Dev community isn't all that great with it. Has a few good devs but not a huge selection in roms
The og Droid
But really, the sensation seems to have a lively community. The sgs 2 gets a lot of attention. I know some htc devs have moved to the rezound. The dinc2 is picking up steam, there are quite a few roms out for it, but I know it isn't the newest thing out.

How is that being a troll? The OP asked which phone for VERIZON and there have been numerous answers of the SGSII which is not and never will be on Verizon. You make no sense. And you say Sensation? Again, it is not on Verizon.
It's a pretty safe bet to say that the Galaxy Nexus will have phenomenal development. The device was hyped for 4-5 months, and previous Nexuses have had a lot of ROM's and hackery. The people who keep saying a Galaxy S II or the guy who said sensation are:
a. people who didn't read the thread
b. trolls.
We know the GN is coming to Verizon via various leaks.

Although it appears that the nexus prime should be coming to verizon for now my vote would be for the fascinate for the wolfson chip and voodoo sound.

there are like 7 pages in another thread about this.. go read that
yes its a good phone, people will probably come here and troll and say that its not good.
If you have to ask you should buy an iPhone.
lol ^ this
I just don't get why people make these threads. There are just so many of them, and in the end.. the OP is the decider. We as users don't decide whether or not you get it. We shouldn't be here just to persuade one person to get a Nexus S, you're posting in a forum where the majority of the users have the phone. So obviously, its going to be biased posts.
Go do your own research and figure out if its for you. Especially when there are so many other threads about this.
^ it's kind of hard for them to decide based off others opinions on the NS. This board is "General" meaning this is where someone would post a topic like this. And the OP isn't asking for unbiased opinions on the NS, just pros and cons. Would you ask this question on the Thunderbolt forum? Probably not...
A question like this is tailored specifically to the person asking, regardless of there being other topics similar, they OPs own question and answers they receive are unique.

No but if you were to ask. Should I get a Thunderbolt or a Nexus S on a Thunderbolt forum. Of course the majority will say Thunderbolt. And there is another "Should I get a Nexus S" thread with the pros and cons listed.
I was asking myself this question 2 months ago and ended up buying it. If I could go back I would have waited for the next successor for the nexus s. That being said, if I had to buy a phone right now I would get it
I think there are a lot of these threads and on the surface they seem silly especially to ask in the forum full of fans. But I also think it's valid, who better to ask about a product than someone who owns it. Maybe the bothersome part of the question is not what he asked but how he worded it.

If your are really looking for a solid reliable phone that has the bootloader that can be very easily unlocked to flash roms and root it in 3.5 min lol then this is the phone for you. I know there's alot of people on here saying that yes you should get it no your getting obvious good feedback on a forum full of people that love this phone but you'll need to look at the pro's and cons tho. First is that I went from a Evo 4g lots of developers on that bad boy then to a g2 still HTC and lots for developers working on ports everyday then to the nexus s all in about a month. now I do have an amazing phone nothing really to complain about BUT that if your a flashaholic there really isn't much which does stink but if you have found a great rom with all the features you need in a everyday use then your good like me. I have found the best rom with performance built right in with great battery life and all the nice little features that I need to keep me happy. Then there's the cons Samsung made this phone and porting and roms wont be flowing out the door. there's a few features that a lower phone really can't say lower but the galaxy s phone have the glitz and Glam of features that where taken away to give us the pure google experience. So the media hub is gone the TV out put features the this the that is all gone but if you like to have a really stable newish 2.3 out the gate then I would get it. I had only seems pics of the nexus s and I normally do a full look over and see YouTube videos on the good and bad but I took the leap and got it off Craigslist and didn't do the homework and man was I surprised I'm so happy I got it for the price I did and how sweet this phone and the potential it has.

For what it's worth, I'm probably returning my NS. After the iPhone 4, Desire Z and the Atrix in the past few months, the NS feels CHEAP. I hate even holding it. Especially since the N1 was one of the greatest phones I've used in terms of it's design.
I would vote for the Atrix, its a dual-core, it's smoother that the NS, yes, you don't have too many roms, but who cares... it works really well with the stock after you freeze Blur.
I hope Google doesn't cheap out the next Nexus.

Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
I purchased the phone the day it released, and it's still my favorite.
Picked up my Nexus S a week ago. I have owned them all, and this Nexus S is my favorite. I had the iPhone 4, and it was like a toy compared to the Nexus S. The Atrix has nice hardware specs, but the Nexus is just as fast and isn't locked out from ROMS.
Ok .. so right now I have a Motorola Atrix 2 on AT&T, and quite frankly, I am NOT impressed with this phone at all .. the fact that Motorola did not learn from its mistakes from the Motorola Atrix 4G in regards to the memory issues is just pure stupidity.
I'm torn between the 2 new phones that were just released to AT&T .. the HTC Vivid and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Now, I have hammered theweb reading reviews about the 2 phones .. I have gone into the AT&T Store and played with both .. but for unknown reasons, I cannot make up my mind as to which one to get.
I obtained the Atrix 2 from BestBuy in the beginning of November, so I'm currently in the 30 days return policy .. so:
I'm posting this poll to see what other readers suggest as to what would be the best to get next .. please vote, let me know .. and if any questions or comments about the phones .. please post .. the more feedback, the better.
Thank you.
skyrocket, no question about it.
I would have to go with the Skyrocket i've used a raider and well... it feels like ever other HTC phone on the market... they really don't differentiate their products well. The Skyrocket, well it's a Galaxy S II so it has those in common but even though it uses a Qualcomm it's still quite a decent.
I've tried the Raider, The Razar and the SIILTE against each other once or twice already at a store and well the SIILTE beats both of them.
In all I would recommend the SIILTE, Samsung makes good products and are quite speedy in updating their products, HTC well you will get "Well your device can't support sense 4.0 "But it's on your budget device" "so..."
PERFECT .. please keep the responses coming
Well would you be willing to wait for option 3.
Get a Galaxy Nexus you'll be able to get one next week when they are released you can import one since they already come unlocked. Or they will be released on AT&T pretty soon

@Illicit Hero: Why aren't you favoring Android at this time ?
Definitely Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, the specification itself is better than HTC Vivid.
Goto GSMarena and do a comparison of these 2 phone.
Out of all previous poster prolly only couple actually own the Skyrocket. I was about to buy it but I've changed my mind inside ATT's store after playing almost an hour with both. Any sgs2 user will say "Sammy's the best" and indeed it is, but the Skyrocket has a different CPU and I actually could see the difference. Didn't like the wvga on its 4.5" screen, for some reason the screen on sgs2 looks so much better. If you don't care for 4.5" go with sgs2, otherwise I would go back to the store and play a little more.

galaxy is my choice..its very reliable phone.......
AT&T Galaxy S II i777.
Why? Dev support on that from stemming from i9100 which the Skyrocket is not 'compatible' with.

just look at the development for each of those phones to help you decide

There's no icon or I would have put one in the OP. I was just really surprised to see ICS in so many flavours for the Nexus S. I had all but forgotten my Nexus S because the GS2 is so superior a phone.
Hey man, heard of blogger.com...? Or Wordpress?
Well as much as I am enjoying ICS on my Nexus-S, I hate having to wait 1.36004 seconds more for apps to launch. I want a SGSII
SGS2 is officially supported by ICS 4.0
just be patient
those ICS you see in Nexus S are just PORTs not legit from sources by Google
It's natural that the Nexus devices are the first to get the next generation of Android. They are after all the development versions even though they are sold to the general public as well.
Guess why I have one, and did not wait for the SGS II.

How was your experiance with TouchWiz? I couldnt imagine myself using it for more than a day.
TW is actually not that bad on the SGS2
i would have agreed on the SGS1
The lockscreen of the SGS II is horrible though.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
why is it so bad..you are sliding a picture not really a big deal.
because many times it takes several attempts to actually slide it enough to unlock the screen. The GB slider or the ICS ring are way more responsive.
Also the SGS II lockscreen does not show the next alarm, forcing you to got to the clock app to check if the alarm is set at the correct time.
My dad (a fellow geek) saw that I was struggling with my Infuse because it has little official support from the big-name teams. Basically, we found that if I wanted to use MIUI or CM7, I would have to use a port that didn't really work that well, and I'm looking for the best MIUI experience possible.
He came home today and surprised me with a Skyrocket, but the more we read, the more we found out that this isn't a widely-supported phone either.
With that said, I live in a big city, so I'll probably get LTE eventually. Should I stick with this phone and hope that the MIUI team picks up the Skyrocket, or should I go trade it in for an AT&T SGS2?
The sgs2 has a huge development community but the skyrocket is a far better device especially with Lte. I decided to stay with the skyrocket and have noticed that we are picking up some steam it prob will never be as big as the sgs2 but i think it will be more than enough to satisfy any user

And dont worry we wil get ics. And we have a great bunch of guys on our forum that help eachother out. With out bad attitudes. Be happy you have the best device available in this country.
Also I think I know of somebody that might be working on a MIUI port for out lovely skyrocket, and he's no joke either. The skyrocket is gaining momentum quickly. I would not be worried. The device is still young. And its basically replaced the OG S2 on att. Your pops is a smart man.

Worry not fellow SGSII owner (I have the sprint flavored one). There's a bunch of reasons why development on this phone is going to, pun squarely intended, Skyrocket. Here's a couple:
1. the SGS II is THE best phone out period. If they'd given the Galaxy Nexus an Exynos processor, I couldn't say that but the Sprint, At&T and international SGS II have the Exynos which means our phones are the best hardware wise. Developers like sexy hardware. Don't need 8 mods to make it lag free, it's already lag free, so they can just have fun with it.
2. This particular SGS II is GSM, which is exactly like the international SGS II sans LTE. This means that porting stuff from their phone to this phone is going to be much more simple than, say, porting it to the Sprint one (which is cdma). You'll start seeing ports to this phone from the international version very soon.
So GSM + great hardware = good development eventually. It's very new though so be patient. The Epic Touch has been out two months and our development forums have just started to kick and show some promising work, so don't get discouraged!
I've never been impressed with either MIUI or CM7, personally. That is just my opinion and I have used them both.
I think this device has devs pushing forward on ROMs that aren't MIUI and CM7 maybe give them a shot you might be surprised.

Honestly, it's good as it is, because I don't want quanities of ROM's, I want quality ROM's.
That being said, with slayher working on CM9, and our device being literally identical to the T-Mobile SGS II except for the LTE radio (which adding our personal radio fixes), we shant not worry.
Plus, we have 2 devs on the horizon, and we have dev rotation, so devs will be getting our device soon.

Galaxy Note or Nexus. Rogers also has the SII LTE which would also be a good choice assuming you want a smaller note without well the note part. They also have the Razr which .... well its a motorola phone and is inferior to the Nexus (Razr owners don't hate) and it's not the Razr Maxx with the amazing battery
Also if you are still in your contract and want a phone to ride out the rest of t I would suggest picking up a Lumia 710 off contract, they are $250
For Rogers, if you need now and have LTE data then, SG2 all the way.
The Galaxy Note is just huge ... How are you goign to walk around with that and talk on it? (my opinion at least)
The Moto Razr is not bad either, if you don't have have LTE this would be my choice. It's kind of skinny for my liking but that's personal preference.
The Nexus is a good choice since it has ice cream sandwich out of the box, if that's what you like. Not sure if the SG2 has ICS yet though or when.
If you wait, I think SG3 will come out soon maybe within half a year, hopefully sooner.
I don't know anything about rodgers, but as I understand it the best phones at present are:
Galaxy note -- "huge" screen (and battery)
Razr maxx -- biggest battery (but you can't replace it)
Droid 4 -- physical keyboard
Galaxy/google nexus -- all the new toys and probobly the most numerous and timely os upgrades

Price is no problem I see?
Well you have a tablet and galaxy note is just to huge.
I should go for the galaxy nexus. Always fast updates, no slow htc widgets or other crap apps.
And not so much people have that phone, in my experience.
