Looking for A facebook apk that works on the fire... - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

Anyone got one?

For any apps you don't see in the android market or amazon appstore or getjar, like facebook, twitter, tumblr, etc. just use App Saver on your Android phone to put those app files on your phone's SD card. Then use a file manager app to email the APK to yourself on the kindle fire. It will install no problem. Market won't alert you of updates for those apps when they happen, but it's a workaround for now.

I took someone's advice and just installed FriendCaster for Facebook. It seems to work pretty well.
I've attached it to this post.
EDIT: Also attached Facebook 1.5.4 which seems to run well on the Fire. (Latest version crashes all the time, so don't bother upgrading to it.)

1.) As previously mentioned, FriendCaster works great on the Fire, particularly in landscape.
2.) Seesmic w/Facebook works well, especially after changing text size to large.

+1, totaly awesome
Does friend me include facebook sync? I noticed that you can't sync your facebook accounts on the TF, really wish I could share photos and videos on facebook from my TF.
Um, 10" tab. Just use fb website?
ya couple apps didn't show up for me, so I switch to the Clemsyn ROM, and I was able to see the missing apps.

Missing Market Apps

Hi all, I have read a lot about missing apps in the market, but it seams to me that there is an unusually high number missing from my rooted Kindle....
Could someone please confirm if the following apps are also missing from their market?
Be Weather
Weather Bug
Go Launcher EX
Dolphin Browser HD
Weight Watchers Mobile (the official app)
I see themes for a lot of these, but not the main apps.
Also, I tried the fix.apk file that I have used on my phone, but it didn't get me what I was hoping for. Thanks
Don't have a fire yet, but can confirm from a few other places that these were removed from the Amazon marketplace for the Fire. You can still sideload them though. Seems this was done a few days ago once everyone started posting that this was a way to get rid of the carousel.
I noticed that, too. There's obviously some sort of filtering going on.

Not on mine either. Perhaps since the Fire isn't one the "compatible" list they are not even available to download.

Thanks everyone sounds like the market is also very limited.

i have go launcher ex and dolphin hd running right now. I did sideload them, i just did it when i was sideloading all the google apps and such. You might do some apk searches on the web. Otherwise it may take a couple weeks for them to be available for the fire (widgetlocker has already updated for the fire, for example).
The Android Market does not contain all of the available apps. It only contains apps that are compatible for your device. So if you have a Kindle Fire it will only show you apps they are compatible with the KFire. That does not mean that you cannot sideload those apps from the Internet.
But, not all sideloaded apps work though.

When I first got my Kindle, I was able to download Go Launcher Ex from the App Store, then when I had a friend get it, it was gone. Ended up sideloading it, but yes, there appears to be a filter.
It really would be quite awesome if there was a way to override this filtering in the android market for those that are rooted. I would love to take my chances.
Google Voice App Receives, but no way to send texts
I read through all FOUR pages of the Kindle Fire forum but did not see anything about this.
I have successfully installed (side loaded) Google Market and Maps on a rooted Fire. I also installed Google Voice (all apk's from my EVO).
GV runs and displays incoming texts, but there is no way to write or send a text. When you click on a text conversation, it opens but there is no text box to write in.
Clicking menu does not give a "compose" option.
Since GV sends texts over the Internet, I am puzzled why this does not work.
I downloaded another texting app and that one does work, but it gives you yet another "phone" number, which just confuses my contacts (they dont know who is texting them).
Anyone got GV working?

Browsing Books

Hi guys,
So here's the deal. I have GO Launcher EX installed on my kindle fire and I have set up everything to where I want it to be now. I got calibre and transferred my books into the KF.
Now on the Launcher's main page, I'm trying to open up the "Amazon Kindle" app to read my books but the only way to make this work is to open up the old launcher and open the book. Then, with it open that is the only way I can have the Amazon Kindle app to do anything at all. If I do not open the book beforehand, the app does nothing when I select it.
My question is. Is there a way to browse my collection of books on the GO Launcher itself or a different app for it?
Probably not the most elegant solution...but on my wifes KF, she prefered the GO Launcher interface to the original KF one so we downloaded the Kindle app for Android from the market, installed it, logged into our Amazon account and checked our registered devices for the market version (the KF also still shows as a registered device and the market app shows below that in the 'Registered Kindle Reading Apps' section) and now when she purchases a book she has it sent to the Kindle for Android app on her KF instead of the KF device itself.
I don't know how the market app compares to the KF native app but she's happy so I am too (at least for now).

I have had issues as well. Rooted and using ADW, the Kindle app would do nothing when pressed. After a while, it just starts to work but only opens the current book I am reading. Have to go back to the original launcher to see all the books. Strange.

Camera

iSyncr is a must if you like music
I just was thinking about all the apps I've downloaded over the past few years and the one I found most useful is Handcent. I use it practically every day.

dropbox is very helpfull to share Files and more between pc and phone
The first two apps I always install after a fresh ROM installation are Titanium backup pro and Superuser Elite. No questions must have any phone any ROM, the rest are subjective

1. AdFree
2. Titanium Backup Pro
3. Superuser
4. Dolphin Browser HD w/ LastPass
5. WiFi File Explorer PRO
7. Whatsapp
6. IMDb
My android wouldn't be the same without those apps..
Depends on the device.
For phone: Pulse news reader
For tablet: Montano Reader
I guess I like to read
Titanium backup...its the most used and appreciated by all rooted users, next to Superser...'SU'
Sent from an ice cream sandwich.
Only been on Android for about three weeks, Im a bit behind, but quickly learnt that I cant do without
Titanium backup, like most others, its a must.
Opera mobile.. Operas the first thing I put on any pc, and the same on the phone. Would have said opera mini next but it seems to have fallen foul of the "Google has helpfully re-rendered this page for mobile viewing" annoyance
Dropbox, quickly discovered its much less hassle to transfer files from the pc this way then mess around mounting sd cards.
A2E, only discovered it when link2sd didnt work with Cyanogen. Great little app.
Apps as catagorised as "useful" can mean different things to different people
Browser - Opera Mobile. Fast and speedy. Opera Mini in bad signal areas works a treat also.
News Feeder - Taptu. Create streams of information from favourite sites and blogs and css streams. Group sites into streams based on catagory. Best way of seeing your favourite stuff on one screen
Images - Lightbox. So many features, it should really be a replacement for your stock camera app
Storage - Dropbox. I can share stuff via dropbox. I can keep it and have it ready to pick up when i want. Perfect for sharing work with clients and showing draft designs of work completed. Google Drive is recent and may pose threats to the Dropbox crown
Messaging - Handcent. Has it all. Simply put.
Twitter - Tweetdeck. Clean interface and does its job best of all that i have tried.
Hi, Twitter and Es file explorer
Go sms & MX player..
Titanium Backup
Adfree
SuperUser
Root Explorer
BTReader

[Q] what can i remove thats not necessary??

Hi peeps...
I'm currently running the hexagon stock modified rom and i was wondering what stuff i can remove without screwing it up???
I pulled a few bits n pieces out like the weather stuff and google maps and gmail using link2sd and it ran fine for a while then something went wrong and the phone would lock up if the screen went off...
I would like to strip everything down to the bare minimum... I use my kindle fire for 90% of stuff now... All i want is basic phone functions, a twitter client, skype and emails... Plus tethering and gps.... And play store for updates
I'm considering changing sense for something else too if theres anything smaller and quicker...
Any tips would be welcome! Thx in advance!
Almost forgot... Can i delete the internet browser and install firefox to replace it rather than install it alongside?

you can delete usually many apps like weather, stocks, mirror, calculator, browser, facebook, even search, mail, dictionary, gmail and talk. However, some apps are linked with others like contacts is merged with messaging so removing one might affect another. I will not delete any app that you can not see in app drawer and neither delete an app which i think might be integrated with another one!
You can also remove camera
