Nvflashed to stock for an recent RMA. All good. RMA done. Happy camper.
To avoid going thru the whole ADB process to root (yeah, I'm lazy) used the Razorclaw one-click method on my B40 TF. Went well. Added CWM. Flashed Roach's Prime 2.1.1 and C-B's OC. All good. (fist-bumps all around!)
Saw all my previous nandroid backups on my uSD. Before backlight on tab died had some nice display tweaks I sure would like back.
So...question is this. If I were to Restore one of the old nandroids my TF would, essentially be as it was at that point? All my tweaks, root, Solarno CWM, etc? Or would I be an Unhappy Camper?
I think I know the answer but many here know more than I so...whaddya all think?

It seems alot of people are getting confused with rooting of the phones, and what they need to do, and it mostly seems like people from other phones, and well the obviously new person. I just want to help with his, as some of the threads are getting and I can see it being tough to follow a 40 page thread.
It seems to me alot of the confusion seems to come from the fact of the lack of locked bootloader, along with using ODIN to flash. I'm quessing everyone from HTC phones is used to a multi step process in regards to flashing root, as you have to load a hacked bootloader, turn soff etc.
If you have a stock ed2 charge. All you need to do is run jt's root/voodoo/cwm kernel found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092114

The stock rooted roms you are seeing are (root stock ed1, root stock ed2) you can consider a rooted basic backup. Do not use CWM either the one from jt's kernel, or rom manager for backup and restore until a recongized dev says its okay. Use titanium backup for your backups and restores. It has been recommended a few times to not even touch ROM Manager yet, based on the way it is written to work vs what is here and how it is written
***one thing to note is that if you install a kernel using the voodoo lag fix, you must disable it prior to flashing back to any sort of stock based kernal/rom or any non kernel with the lag fix.
I am semi new with this as well coming from HTC phones, and only having this for this being my 3rd day. If I missed something in here or made a mistake please let me know and I can adjust and maintain this....havent had much sleep for a while and its getting to me

Not sure what youre saying here. Are you saying that you have to disable the voodoo lag fix to install root stock ed1 or ed2?

Ok guys so i think i messed up pretty bad. Ive rooted quite a bit of things and this didnt seem too difficult. Anyways after i hit the root.batch and it ran thru like normally. it said phone updated like it was supposed to do. Well i went to restart it and when it came back on the screen is all messed up. It loaded up normally. Tergra and asus came up like normal but then it goes crazy.
If you did the NVidia flash root technique then probably you missed the first step of copying and replacing the right boot.img file into the root directory. I did that and got the exact same results.
Make sure you have the correct boot.img file for your tablet.
I got this fixed lol. No idea what i did. I just flashed back to stock. I rooted it now. What should i do next. I got root and recovery already
The revolver ROM is pretty sweet. Snappy with all the Honeycomb bells and whistles.
Can i go straight from stock rooted to any room now? I heard the prime rom is pretty solid too. Is this true?
With CWM installed, you should be able to flash from stock rooted to Revolver or Prime. I have no experience with Prime but have heard good things. Make sure you make a Nandroid backup of your current configuration through CWM (just in case). You do not have to wipe data for Revolver (or at least I didn't anyway).
...yeah, this is pretty self-explanitory, but the only reason I haven't switched to the latest version of CWM (and am still at 4.0.0.9) is because I have, well, Triumph issues on a regular basis. A stock nandroid would work too... just something that works.
(inb4 "just use a stock ROM"... apparently if I do so it gets really mad at me
Edit: Okay, maybe not. It seemed to be happier about a stock ROM than a stock backup, although my request still stands...)
Hey guys, ok so I am coming from two HTC Heros (CMDA Sprint)
Was running cyanogenmod on both (me and the wife) loved it.
Now that I have the E4GT, I went ahead last week and used ODIN to install LoStKernel.
Now it did give me root and I have used apps like rom toolbox and setcpu.
My main problem is it seems these samsung devices are a lot trickier to tinker with.
Basically I am looking to get Clockworkmod so I can flash roms and make nandroid backups.
From what I have read, I need a kernel that supports and/or has CWM in it.
I tried flashing CWM with rom manager, and it installed - but I have no option to backup/restore I can only flash a zip or clear cache.
There are SO MANY things posted in the development section and I do not know which kernels are the latest, best etc.
I need:
a) CWM/busybox
b) overclocking support
c) FULL stock functionality (no loss of wifi or something stupid like that)
From what I am understanding the kernel is included with a rom. But I can't flash a rom without CWM. So I am rooted but stuck with stock rom and it's kernel.
Confused, lol!
Can someone point me to a proper thread to get me CWM and a well supported ROM to install? Can I get CWM working fully on the stock kernel/rom?
If someone can point me to the right direction, maybe I can find a developer to donate to lol!

At this point I'm just trying to get cwm. Seems I may have already had it just didn't know it came with lostkernel and now I botched it using rom manager.

I guess that's my main issue - I can't find one that has CWM, everything I am seeing is a ROM that needs CWM to install.
If I had CWM I'd be all set because then I can backup my setup and try new things without worry, but I don't want to use ODIN to try a kernel that CWM won't take, or isn't there, and then lose what I have ya know?
All set, seems I flashed a kernel that wasn't what it was supposed to be. I apparently flashed his earlier version (pre-LoStKernel) that did not have CWM5 it it.
Just used ODIN last night to drop in LoStKernel and kept root, but also have CWM5 now. After clearing my SD Card, made my first backup. 1.5GB, jesus! lol. Nearly my whole SD card... yes, it's from my old Hero, so, time to get a 32GB.
So I've been using Revolver for a few months...
And I saw these new ROMs and I was wondering if they are worthy to switch from Revolver...
(IF anybody tried these ROMs PLEASE post your opinion)

If you haven't updated to the new revolver 4 then you are still on honeycomb.
And cornerstone is a gimmick right now, it breaks a lot of features and apps don't always run correctly in the cornerstone windows..I will be surprised at this point if cornerstone survives onto android 5.0, google and Onskreen seem to be at odds over it's usefulness and how to implement it into ROMs without breaking market access to keep users from leaving negative feedback for 'broken apps' that don't work simply because they have cornerstone installed. I have a feeling cornerstone is either about to die, or be neutered beyond usability, they have already removed features and hinting at removing more to make it compliant to Google's standards. In other words, enjoy cornerstone, but I wouldn't get dependent on it, it may not be around (at least in the same form it is now) for very long.

I wanted to try those ROMs for myself but it's really troublesome wiping everything then restoring again! which I did twice to get ICS to work! and I still have random shutdowns!
So I wanted to ask if anyone tried them... and how are they compared to the Revolver!
Do a backup of your apps and data, then do a nandroid backup through recovery. If you are currently on HC and then you upgrade to ICS, you will need to make sure that you can go back to your previous HC rom if need be by having a nandroid backup and a way to flash the corresponding HC kernel. The safest way to do this is to perform the nandroid restore through recovery, do not reboot, after restore, then reflash your HC rom's zip file. If you do not have a TF that has sbk1 and can use the nvflash utility, then you run a risk of hard bricking your tf when u try to go back to HC. So the safest bet is to stick with ICS once u upgrade.
Do a full wipe and download and try every rom you are interested in and try them out yourself. Perform the above recovery steps if you want to go back.

I'm on ICS!
I've already backed up everything from TB but It does take a very long time to restore! (250+ Apps)
And to test the ROM properly I have to restore my data and use the ROM for couple of days!
BUT If somebody already tried one of those ROMs then I don't have to do all of that...

I am also have a problem with Asus Base ROM as well.
So I change from Revolution HD to EOS nighlies with Cornerstone version 4.
Overall is great, it's very fast. However, I still have some problem of random not-wake up and battery drain after restart.
It may be my individual problems but just for your consideration.
ROM to use
There is always going to be some sort of wok when you are trying out different ROMs.... Somewhat nature of the beast.
I have run revolution HD and codename 1.5 so far and prefer codename at this point. Codename is still being upgraded quite often... So maybe more work than revolution.
According to other threads, these random reboots will probably be in every tf101 ICS rom as they are due to old nvidia drivers delivered by asus.
I know what you mean i have a 12kb/s internet connection and downloading roms to try is a pain. I was on revolver 3 and very happy stable fast and reliable. Upgraded to revolver 4 and had to many small problems and it all seemed a little tired and slow. Tried cornerstone and thought nah! Whats the big deal, cant change window position and half the apps dont work. I am now on codename 1.5 and although their are a few little problems it hasn't reebooted got stuck in a loop or slowed to a crawl. Loads of extra settings and the inbuilt launcher is great. So far impressed and will be sticking with it.
