Power-skin charging case - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

The power skin website
www.power-skin.com. just announced that they have a charging case available for the skyrocket at all AT&T corporate locations. I can't wait! Everyone should find a friend that either works there or at USPS to get 40-50% off (I think it is $80 retail)

Hmm idk its kinda too bulky. Only 1500 mah? Hmm I'm pretty happy with the battery life. Maybe for long trips ill give it a shot.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium

It charges the battery all the way. I over this case. It is a little bulky but you can go case less until you need it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App

The stock battery in the skyrocket is 1850, this case is 1500... so no it wont charge your battery full...

I start charging at 15-20% so guess what... Full. No nerd war here please

there's a review over here on the other side of the fence http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331293
not very good, IMO, poor battery, and i can cause damage to your internal battery

Went to the AT&T store and plopped the $80 for it.
So far I give it a B-.
Case itself seems to charge fairly quickly, charges the phone almost as fast as a regular charger.
Really like the feel of it. I'm not much for rubber cases but this one has changed my outlook. I got my wife a Juice case for her iPhone 4 and the PowerSkin blows it away as far as feel and weight.
My only real complaint is that when its plugged into a computer it only charges. No USB debugging or Kies.
Other than that I'm satisfied so far.

I miss my pre's touchstone

How does this feel in your pocket with the added thickness?

Pretty good, snags a bit on the pocket lining but that's better than flying out.
If you wear skinny jeans you're SOL. And you should have the phone taken away from you.
I wear dress slacks most of the time and there is plenty of room.

How easy is it to get the phone into and out of the case? I would need it out to fit it in my armband for running.

Anyone able to find these? the corp stores in dallas do not have them
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App

They look pretty fugly, I could've done without the butts stickin out that much on the cases. Must function always clash with fashion!

FYI - They are on the ATT website for $35 and free shipping.

LOL.. figures i paid $80 for this case yesterday in a corp store now i need to go back and get my credit..
BTW.. i am not impressed.. my phone was doen to 20% and i attached the fully charged power-skin..it recharged phone to 70% in about an hour but then the new case was dead ..

Looks pretty neat...my only concern is, I am getting ready to buy Easytether, and I wonder if I am going to have to take it out of the case every time I want to tether?

I just ordered mine for $35. I tried to order it with my corporate premier account and they quoted me $80 online and at the store, though.

[REVIEW] Naztech Extended Battery (2400mAh)

So I was told to make a review when I got this, cause people want reviews to see stuff and that ****. Now, onto the review.
Experience:
Arriving home one fateful afternoon, I noticed I had a package from Amazon. I opened up the box like a little fat kid in a candy store, and to my surprise, I didn't get half the item. Sent it back, got another one, all that fancy ****, and I opened it up. As initial impressions goes,
Smelt funny.
The back door is the same "rubber" material as on some of the Logitech mice, and the CR-48.
Battery had some weight to it.
The door cover is MUCH more ridgid than the stock one.
So I put it in and all that fun stuff, tried it out, and yeah. I ran the screen on for about 5 hours, from a 100% charged battery, and I dropped down to 75% in the end. I guess this is somewhat expected, considering the capacity of this battery is almost 2x the stock. Running superclean, standard kernel, the jist.
tl;dr
Pros:
Makes the phone feel more ridgid, stable, sturdy.
LONG battery life, as expected.
Nice grip to the phone.
Generally feels nice on the fingers; i.e they don't stick.
Raises the phone up a bit so the camera lense doesn't get scratched.
Cons:
Smells funky; probably the packaging.
Took me about 15 minutes to get it off. Snaps on so tight that it doesn't come back off easily.
My CR-48 material covering comes off easy, and this is the same material, so I'm worried its going to happen here as well.
This thing costs $24 as of now; if you have the money to spend I see no reason why not to get this, unless you have a limited supply of pocket space; then you're screwed.
Ask me in the channel for pictures, XDA won't let me throw em here.
I just took your advice. I hold you personally responsible if I don't like it. =P
Better battery + a less plastic-ey feel? I'm in.
is naztech a good brand? does the advertised mah match up to the actual?
thanks,

Basing my information on my time with the battery, I'd say its a good brand. They sell other things too, got a website; they mostly do apparel for electronics. Also, yes, the advertised product is exactly as it is.
thx for responding, I think ill buy it tonight.
I should have the battery in today. I'll post up some impressions when I do get it.

Okay. So I have the casing and battery and have had it on for about the last last 24 hours so I will share what I think so far.
Casing: I am thoroughly impressed with the quality of the casing. Honestly, it feels quite similar to the "soft touch" casing that, is found on HTC phones. This is a major plus for me as I hated how plastic-ey the stock casing felt.
The casing is a bit thick though. Id say it close to doubles the thickness of the phone. This isn't as bad as it sounds though as the fascinate us a thin phone to begin with. Personally I don't mind the added thickness and it might even sit a bit better in my hand. My girlfriend however has small hands and dislikes the phone being bigger.
The short version: case feels great. The thickness may or may not bother you.
As for the battery, the life seems good but I'm going to give it a few days to calibrate before I give a final impression.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I went through my first day with this battery and I have the exact same impressions as below. The added thickness bothered me at first but I think I'm already starting to get used to it after only one day of use.
I unplugged my phone at 830 this morning and it's now just past 1030 for an uptime of over 14 hours and I have 51% left. This is just amazing considering my phone usually dies after 6-8 hours of use.
Final impressions: the best $24 I ever spent on any phone accessory I ever purchased!

Just use it normally, condition it, etc.
I am going to look into getting a sweet battery, but not real familiar with them, what brands make batteries for these phones?
So this one can be charged using the phone? Or do you have to use an external charger?

i agree, only way you get a new one is if you pay asurion the monthly warranty and call them to get it replaced(100 deductable) or buy a new one from verizon. They wont give you a free one.
Physical damage is not covered by the warranty.
Send pix of bent kickstand
Might be easy fix if ya carefull using tools

If you call them and try to get it replaced for any reason besides the bent kickstand just to get it replaced its fraud. Its why our deductibles have been going up when it comes to asurion etc.., but you gotta do what you gotta do- just some of us dont condone that
try to fix it yourself, or even take the kickstand out. it annoys the **** out of me and it's completely useless.
Not *completely*
it does keep pocket lint out of the speaker
It would be less useless if they moved the usb port and you could watch videos in the widescreen way and actually charge the phone. But obviously they didnt and the kickstand was an afterthought which is why it peels, bends and is in the way

I would have a little more respect for that strategy if they actually had the docks availabe for sale at launch or even 3 months after launch, especially if the so-called multimedia dock had HDMI-out or any other multimesia functions for that matter.

I never said anything negative about the build though, so I'm not sure where some people came up with that.

I have the seidio dock. It's angled poorly for screen viewing (in my opinion), and extremely difficult (in relative terms to other docks I have for other phones) to get the phone in and out of it. There's a lot of resistance both in and out with the usb plug.
As for kickstands...why all the hate? Personally I think it's a fantastic accessory to the phone and puts it at the perfect angle for watching videos or reading off the phone while it's on my desk. Yeah, usb placement sucks and maybe you can't watch five hours of video on it with the kickstand, but other phones you can't watch anything at all without holding the phone in your hand or getting a dock.

Not trying to start anything but that is just as "crappy" as batteries you mention.
Seidio is known for their overpricing, you do NOT get $74 of battery when you buy that, not even $60. For ~$20 I'd just go for the OEM 1800mAh slim battery from the Epic Touch....just kidding I'd get two extendeds for $19 shipped *NEW*

Mine works like a champ and if any thing happens i just use my old battery and back plate.

I've got one of the Hyperion batteries. They sell them as a standalone product without the charger. The battery is about what you would expect for the $10 cost. As I expected, it doesn't last quite as long as the included battery, but it makes a good backup battery for when you need a little extra juice. The amazon reviews say that the charger is low quality, so i bought the RND dock off amazon to go with it. I'm new here so I can't post the link yet, sorry.
Thanks that's really helpful. If I may ask what kind of case or screen protector do you like?

I recently got a couple of those and some of their chargers. Pretty happy with them. Not a huge leap over the stock batteries, but nice and stable (and cheap)

Battery cases ie. Powerskin

Any experience with the powerskin? Any other alternatives? I really am looking for a case with extra battery and not just extra batteries or a different back cover. I like the idea of a case/battery combo.

I know some people who use it and it works for them but a lot of the reviews say it stops charging after a few months...
For the same price you can get the sedio 3800mah battery (60$ ) and then get the case for the extended battery also from sedio (20$ ) which might be a little bit more reliable..
Iirc, the phone won't deep sleep with the powerskin. You don't even need a battery that big. Nexus extended is far more than enough. You don't need one at all. I run 24 hours plus on stock with over 5 hours screen on, gtalk and text all day, emails, fb, weather, words with friends, stream music, and more.
With the nexus extended I'd need a new cover? If so, are there cases that accomdate for the new back cover?

You don't need a new cover. The battery might fit great, it might bulge. definitely didn't need a new case and my cover does bulge slightly

That battery is awesome. I've had it for two days now. I am a moderate to heavy phone user, and it is sitting at 43% after 15 hours of being unplugged. 40% of that is screen time.
I had the power skin, worked great for awhile but now the USB cord on the bottom to connect to the phone stopped working. I could probably have it serviced under warranty but....yeah don't want to bother it wasn't that good

I am on my 4th Powerskin for my SR in less than two months. They either die and stop working or the charging port gets worn down so it only makes contact when you hold it and put pressure on it. It is realistically about an extra 75% added to your battery, but your phone uses it to stay 100% charged so none of your battery saving features work. Would recommend a larger replacement battery over a case battery. I ended up buying extra andido batteries off amazon and plan on giving that a try over this.
I bought it at AT&T so they keep giving me replacements but will not give me a refund.
Do not recommend.
On my 2nd powerskin and it along with the 1st one stopped recharging......waste of time. Plus it makes it bulky.
I went through two of them. The last one overheated my phone and killed it :-( at&t gave me a new phone and I changed to an otter box.
