[Q] Answers INTEROP - UNLOCK for HTC ? - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I legitimately unlocked my HTC HD7 with Chevron.
But from what I understand by reading a few posts, HTC devices have an additional block with the line-INTEROP UNLOCK, which does not allow the installation of homebrew applications, unless they are not native Mango.
I wanted to ask if what I just wrote was right and maybe in the future if they fail to address this further block
Thank you very much

all WP7 phones have the "Interop-lock", it just that its being a twat to "Interop unlock" HTC WP7 phones without messing around with flashing roms.

The problem for Samsung / LG has been resolved. While HTC is not.

Your opening post makes no sense
if "I wanted to ask if what I just wrote was right " is your question, then you are wrong, HTC's dont have an "additional block" over other WP7 phones.

you read this article http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271963 .
I'll then this question: why even after I have unlocked my HTC HD7 with chevron, but i can not install homebrew applications prior to release of the update Mango?
I was able to install applications that were created with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, while all previous applications homebrew in Mango give me this error 0x81030120
I just wanted some confirmation what I wrote in that first post.

Sorry, but your grammar makes it had to understand what you are asking......
If you get error 0x81030120 while deploying apps, this means that the app needs interop capabillitys(sp),
Some apps also need to be tweaked to run on mango. just because they ran pre mango, dose not mean that they will run on mango.

My phone is upgraded to Windows 7.5 Pgone Mango
can not I install homebrew applications if they are pre-mango and not native Mango? Right?
Sorry for my poor English

No, you cant. I am in the same boat as I have HTC Trophy running latest Mango. I am not going to bother going back to pre NODO just to get the Interop Unlock.
I will hold out hope for someone hopefully figuring it out.

Zune Update Error Code 80180048 aka Walshed Phone Error? HERES A FIX

If you used ChevronWP7 or Chris Walsh's tools to update your WP7 phone to NODO, and now you can't update to the latest May release (7932) then here is the fix you have been looking for! This tool allows the restoration of your phone such that it can be updated through Zune again. All credits goto Chris Walsh. No need to downgrade from NODO or mess around with your ROM!

Obviously use "wpst_x86_2.zip" for 32-bit and "wpst_x64_2.zip" for 64-bit Win7/Vista. Make sure you have at least .NET Framework 4.0 installed.
Instructions:
1) Sync your favorite WP7 to your PC
2) If Zune loads, let Zune sync with your WP7 phone, establish a connection, then kill Zune
3) Run the Chris Walsh program "WPST.exe"
4) Read the onscreen instructions and wait for the update to complete
5) Try updating phone in Zune after Chris Walsh fix

You need
- the phone to be unlocked (Chevron)
- WP7 Root tools
- Read Unbranding your phone for updates thread
- Read Prevent relock thread
1. Install WP7 Root tools.
2. Do the "Prevent relock" reg hack.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"=""
"PortalUrlInt"=""
3. Do the "Unbrand" reg hack
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
Edit it and instead of "ATT-US" (original value) leave blank
4. Connect to Zune and update to 7392
I have a Focus updated to 7392
LE: alternatively, you can also sideload and run Samsung Tools and tick "remove sideload limit", "prevent relock" and " enable 3g".
This hasn't worked for me, I am still getting the update error.
Any other suggestions?
I originally flashed an Ansar VF NZ rom, it allows me to update to 7008, but fails with 80180048 on 7392.
Hard reset, Walsh's tool. still no go..
Anyone?
Yes. Flash the Rogers rom and start over. Something's not working properly and you can try to spend a lot of time trying to find out what it is or you can enjoy the phone. Your call.
I'm suggesting Rogers rom, because the while AT&T has apps (will you use'em?) it doesn't support sms delivery notification. Also, Rogers rom is closest to original Samsung rom.

Yup. You can at least figure out if it's a software, hardware or firmware problem. GL
Did the update. Is there any reason to rebrand the phone after the update? Or can I just leave ATT-US blank?

WP7 doesn't really have bloatware. All the preinstalled ATT apps can be deleted. ATT did provide a WiFi sniffer that looked for free ATT WiFi spots and automatically connected without intervention from the user. I think this and the ability to import ATT contacts came only to ATT branded phones with the 7390 update

That's what I said What do you call something you don't use and that occupies space otherwise? Plus you do have to delete those apps to free space, so those are extra steps. As for the Wispr, Mango (including this beta) offers this connectivity generic. For contacts, I have no clue what ATT contacts are but Outlook sync works perfectly.

[Q] difference between mango jailbreak and developer unlock?

Maybe the question has been answered thousand times before, but I couldn't find some mango specific stuff.
What is the difference? my Omnia 7 is developer unlocked and it's on the latest zune version. I'm able to deploy my self made xaps but not any kind of homebrew. I found some homebrew that should work on omnia7 with mango, like a wifi toggle, but it doesn't. Even sometimes my own xaps do not work.
Any advice?
a few things
with a jailbreak, you can sideload any number of apps. With a dev unlock you can sideload only 10 (3 if you're a student).
with a jailbreak, you can use TouchXplorer, which is basically a file explorer. This leads to possibilities of editing the registry. You can't with a dev unlock.
most homebrew which uses low-level access (native code) will not work with a mango dev unlock. most of them won't even work with a jailbreak, but some do.
if you're looking for a wifi toggle type app, there are good apps now in the mango marketplace. Try Network Dashboard (prettier) or Connectivity Shortcuts (not as pretty). They both give one click access to wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, and cellular settings.
in the end, to most people, a jailbreak's main advantage is the removal of the sideload limit. so if that's your thing, go for it. otherwise a dev unlock is not bad.
(there's also something called a FullUnlock, which allows you to run native code... this bit's still under development, so i wouldn't be worrying about this for a few weeks yet.)
Cheers.
Thank you, helped me a lot. So there are many advantages of a jailbreak. File explorer sounds interesting.
Am I right that there is no easy method for me to jailbreak without to flash back to nodo?
All you need to do to have mango "jail break":
1. Apply HSPL/RSPL (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647).
2. Flash the new DFT 7720 mango rom (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255143)
Good luck!

there was a term on wm4/5
edit: got it , "application unlock" was the name of it back in the wm times
I say "DevUnlock" & "FullUnlock" as Chevron is a DevUnlock. FullUnlock would the closest thing to a "Jailbreak/Root" IMO. DevUnlock allows homebrew (Pre-Mango), but it still isn't low level root access short of Heathcliff's Root Tools, which isn't completed yet. FullUnlock IMO is going to be the future of a real "Jailbreak/Root" solution for WP7 with full root/admin access even after Mango. The perfect example of this is that the registry editors we currently have can't display all directories. The "no information available" message for certain directories like "HKLM:System\."
this is from the wiki "http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Glossary#Application_Unlock"

I´ll vote for the "FullUnlock" too and I am ready to open a new Thread with a Poll but I will not consider "Jailbreak".

Quick question.... Unlocking with chevron, is it the EXACT same as if you were to officially dev unlock it? I don't think so?
If I am correct then there should be a DevUnlocked, ChevronUnlocked and FullUnlocked or FullyUnlocked?

Chevron Unlock is DevUnlock. It just uses a security hole that allowed using a custom server/cert, but in the end it just performs a simple registry change of the DeveloperUnlockState entry. There's a few other hack like the prevent relock registry edit & the unlimited side loaded app one, but these can be done with either Chevron or Official methods with the homebrew registry editors.
Ok, so it is really the same thing... Just a few extras may need to be done to properly devunlock your phone (sideload limit etc.)
Well DevUnlocked and FullyUnlocked sound good. Although a name for a ful dev unlocked phone may not be a bad idea? What do you guys think?

Chevron vs Dev unlock
If Chevron is exactly same as DevUnlock, then tell me: I am registered Dev with HTC HD7, Mango beta2 and dev unlocked phone, I am unable to install TouchXplorer, but as far as I have found people using Chevron are able to install it to Mango (I've tried official deployment tool and Xap Installer too - error in both cases)
I have also read, that with Mango it's not possible to install application using ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES capabality - most of Homebrew apps got this.
So is Chevron really same as dev unlock?

The only people I have heard being able to side load INTEROPSERVICES are Samsung users. It is in my opinion that they're getting an incomplete update process that doesn't properly update pacmaninstaller.exe, which is the exe that installs XAP & has been taken apart & found to have the block for INTEROPSERVICES. All Chevron does is apply a registry change, the same registry change that the official Dev Unlock does. It just uses a custom cert installed through a security hole that was fixed in NoDo.
Install other language
Now this is really interesting! If I understand it correctly, the only chance for me with dev unlocked HTC HD7 with Mango beta2 to enable other language, Czech in my case, is to downgrade to NoDo using my backup, install the registry changes and then go to Mango. That's not an easy solution for Czech WP developers
Too bad there is no "hack" for enabling interopservices in Mango, it wil be much easier then

All you need to do is a registry hack? If so & your have TouchXplorer sideloaded already from when you were in NoDo, you can create a CustClear.provxml with those registry values. Copy it to your phone using the USB Storage enabler & than move it to \Windows\ with TouchXplorer. Than just run HTC Connection Setup. It'll import the registry changes in the CustClear.provxml.

I know about the HTC Connection Setup registry trick, but I joined Dev like two weeks ago... until then I have not used any hacks or sideloaded apps. And now with Mango beta2 I can't install TouchXplorer
I got a plan - once final Mango is released in Zune, I'm gonna restore NoDo backup, Dev unlock, do all the registry stuff and then install final Mango using Zune...
Edit: When I remove the ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES from TouchXplorer XAP, it installs now, but it shows no entries. Same for DiagProvXMLv0.7 - it installs when I remove the line, it even looks like it's working, but no matter what entries I add using this app, nothing happens.

mango update quick question need help please,

HEY
i see the mango update is starting to go live for people and after looking at microsoft site its shows in the uk that o2 are givng out the update.
my question is i have a unlocked htc 7 pro currently using a t-mobile sim can i take this out use my partners o2 sim to see if i can get the update then once updated transfer back to my t-mobile sim?
thanks for any help with this.
did you try to force the update with the zune software (the link is in this forum on a different thread). It worked for my phone and doesn't really use my carrier's network (since it relies on disabling your network connection during the upgrade check). It might work for you without doing anything else.
Agree with last post. If in doubt, force it

If you're too lazy to search for the link, here it is: http://www.wpcentral.com/force-mango-update-early-through-zune-software
I had to repeat the steps a bunch of times to get it right, but it works fine
But take care, this will probably re-lock your phone, I had no problem with this because I already have an AppHub student account, so I can officially unlock it again
But I'm still facing some problems because students are only allowed 3 sideloaded apps, and since this number is smaller than 300, this means that the phone will be Interop-locked (this is explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265321), so I can't open any code that use native libraries, so I'm unable to edit the registry to increase MaximumUnsignedApps :S
thanks i found the force link lastnight. got it all to work first time so easy was great thank you for the info.

I'm not 100% sure but MS stopped the flow of new tokens and most 2 gen phones are almost impossible to unlock unless you have a dev account but with the new firmware and drivers you can't interop unlock them any more. So I'm pointing towards no they don't support it but I could be wrong.
What about the WindowBreak Project? did it support 2nd Gen Samsung devices? I read it, but forgot!

Oh yea, LOL silly me, those that are lucky to get WindowsBreak to work can unlock.
@hoangchaunguyen: If you mean the original ChevronWP7 Unlocker tool, you must be joking. That thing was never supported (it was taken down almost immediately, though a number of sites mirrored it). It only worked on the first few builds, 7004 and 7008; by 7389/7390 (the earliest NoDo builds, depending on your device) it didn't work anymore. That was most of a year ago.
If you mean ChevronWP7 Labs, they are currently unable to sell any more unlocks. It has been hoped and postulated that they'll get more at some point, but nobody has said anything definite to that effect yet.

Need Some Help on HTC code ##3282#

Hello.
I have a HTC Titan Device.

Samsung just Open a menu with : ##634#
when we use ##634# on HTC device , it try to open something (but it cant).
but with HTC , We can open field Test by ##3282#
WindowsBreak project use ../../ on zip folder to access the Samsung menu.
so maybe if someone know where is ##3282# point to and what is inside it , We can Unzip file into it and put new menu to Interop Unlock HTC Device.

Short version: Field Test on HTC phones is nothing like Diagnostics on Samsung phones, and the similar hacks are not going to work. That's not to say that nothing can work, but we haven't found one that will for HTC gen2 yet.

I have another Idea (Maybe this one is old too) but it worth to shot.
Where does Htc Apps list on the market , Get it's list and download address?
Can't we just edit that , and add one app from anywhere(Web address , address on the phone).
Because as far as i know marketplace allow to install any App with any Permission.
First issue: what good would that do? The problem isn't in the app, it's in the high-privilege drivers that the app(s) use to make changes. Those are part of the firmware, not part of the app.
Second issue: In order to install apps with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES on an interop-locked phone, the apps need to have the Marketplace signature on them. Homebrew apps don't have a valid sugnature.

Well, last I checked the Dell Venue Pro was never IUed, and I don't think anybody has managed with the Lumia 900 yet either (and I don't even know for the Toshiba/Fujitsu IS12T). Otherwise, though, yeah I hear you.
