Obviously use "wpst_x86_2.zip" for 32-bit and "wpst_x64_2.zip" for 64-bit Win7/Vista. Make sure you have at least .NET Framework 4.0 installed.
Instructions:
1) Sync your favorite WP7 to your PC
2) If Zune loads, let Zune sync with your WP7 phone, establish a connection, then kill Zune
3) Run the Chris Walsh program "WPST.exe"
4) Read the onscreen instructions and wait for the update to complete
5) Try updating phone in Zune after Chris Walsh fix

You need
- the phone to be unlocked (Chevron)
- WP7 Root tools
- Read Unbranding your phone for updates thread
- Read Prevent relock thread
1. Install WP7 Root tools.
2. Do the "Prevent relock" reg hack.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"=""
"PortalUrlInt"=""
3. Do the "Unbrand" reg hack
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
Edit it and instead of "ATT-US" (original value) leave blank
4. Connect to Zune and update to 7392
I have a Focus updated to 7392
LE: alternatively, you can also sideload and run Samsung Tools and tick "remove sideload limit", "prevent relock" and " enable 3g".

This hasn't worked for me, I am still getting the update error.
Any other suggestions?
I originally flashed an Ansar VF NZ rom, it allows me to update to 7008, but fails with 80180048 on 7392.
Hard reset, Walsh's tool. still no go..
Anyone?

Yes. Flash the Rogers rom and start over. Something's not working properly and you can try to spend a lot of time trying to find out what it is or you can enjoy the phone. Your call.
I'm suggesting Rogers rom, because the while AT&T has apps (will you use'em?) it doesn't support sms delivery notification. Also, Rogers rom is closest to original Samsung rom.

Yup. You can at least figure out if it's a software, hardware or firmware problem. GL

Did the update. Is there any reason to rebrand the phone after the update? Or can I just leave ATT-US blank?

WP7 doesn't really have bloatware. All the preinstalled ATT apps can be deleted. ATT did provide a WiFi sniffer that looked for free ATT WiFi spots and automatically connected without intervention from the user. I think this and the ability to import ATT contacts came only to ATT branded phones with the 7390 update

That's what I said What do you call something you don't use and that occupies space otherwise? Plus you do have to delete those apps to free space, so those are extra steps. As for the Wispr, Mango (including this beta) offers this connectivity generic. For contacts, I have no clue what ATT contacts are but Outlook sync works perfectly.

[Q] [i]Carrier codes please!

Hi,
I can confirm that NoDo can be obtained most easily by merely tweaking the registry for any unbranded carrier codes and for carriers who appear on Microsoft's website to be delivering updates.
I had flashed my Omnia 7 with a DBTJK1 Rom available from samfirmware.com, I got the pre-nodo update straight away, however, NoDo update was not available (14th April Last checked). Since Orange UK was confirmed to deliver NODO, so I tweaked back my registry to ORG-GB and restarted my phone, and wonderfully enough I got the NODO instantly.
There is no need as I see to try any silly methods (pbk trick with timing lolz, Cheveron Updater oof)to get the updates, instead, one could just register unbranded carrier codes. So, Could you all please submit your unbranded, or those who got the NoDo officially, the carrier codes (Read from registry for operator on your phone), so that we can expedite the process of getting the updates.
Many thanks, and please do contribute as this will be very useful for getting future updates.

I've been following that post with GREAT ANTICIPATION! Unfortunately, the program does not work on my HTC phone. *yet*
I guess this brings us to a standstill as the only official NODO update I believe is on HTC and dell phones:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/update-schedule-usa.aspx
Is there really a need for this? Just set 000-88 as your MobileOperator and it should pull down 7008/7390 no problem. Why bother going thru the hoops of finding a carrier when you can go carrier-free?

No, it does not find 7390 with 000-88 in registry, I had this entry in my ROM by default and I had to change it back to ORG-GB (from my official ROM).

I have updated several phones to NoDo with 000-88. Some automatically and others using the disconnect "trick". Just because yours did not find 7390 straight away doesn't mean it doesn't work - it just means your device wasn't part of the randomized and throttled rollout.
Sure, you could go thru a list of carriers who are delivering the update, but that still doesn't mean your device would receive NoDo straight away - the process is still throttled afaik.

I don't see the relevance. The process is throttled. Yes, you may have received the update straight away after going back to ORG-UK, that doesn't mean everyone else will. Others (me included) received the update straight away after changing to 000-88, while others still have had to deal with timing tricks, clearing out the string completely or retrying hundreds of times.
In any case, since you are saying ORG-UK works, then why bother trying to find other strings? By your definition everyone should automatically get NoDo by changing it to ORG-UK, right?
But whatever. Here's a few strings for you to faff around with;
Code:
000-88
SMC-HK
ONE-GH
VOC-MZ
SFR-FR
ORG-GB
ORG-FR
SWI-CH
FON-CL
FON-GT
LUS-CA
SIN-AU
SIN-SG
TMO-DE
TMO-HR
TMO-CZ
TMO-HU
TMO-MK
TMO-NL
TMO-SK
TMO-GB
TMO-US
ORG
VOD-NL
STR-AU

TLC-MX
ATT-US
VOD-AL

ROG-CA
VOD-CZ
VOD-EG
VOD-FO

VOD-GR
VOD-HU
VOD-IN

VOD-IT
VOD-MT
FON-ES
VOD-NZ
VOD-PT
VOD-ZA
VOD-ES

VOC-LS
VFQ-QA

You can rather easily match these against carrier, country and whether they are testing, scheduling or deliverying the updates.
Many thanks for that list mate! What now remains is MobileOperator values for Unbranded devices, I seriously doubt that they are all but 000-88.
Unbranded XENJK1 here, 000-88. Originally handset was TMobile UK.
I did try changing the MobileOperators to ORG-GB with no success with the update, there must be something more. Your device is originally an orange handset right? It may be determined on more than just the MobileOperators key.

Yes. The process is still throttled. The update is not sent out to all eligible devices at the same time. You can raise your chances of being "selected" by changing your MobileOperator string but your best bet is really to set it to 000-88 and - if that doesn't automatically give you the update - do the wifi timing trick. Works 100% of the time.

I took your info into consideration, and went through the hassle of flashing my ROM again, and this time today, even if I had 000-88 by default in my ROM, NODO did not appear. To my surprise, NODO did not appear going back to ORG-GB either, and guess what, the timing trick also did not work at all. So, I went on and used Cheveron.WP7.Updater and got NODO, however it is difficult to dealwith it in my subconscious.
I wish there was a simple official way to getting updates, yet I still think that unbranded MobileOperator code could increase the chances.
I've got the unbranded one: version 7390 (updated over Zune), value: 000-88

HTC Hidden WiFi - anyone get the XAP?

HTC has released an app that lets you add a hidden WiFi SSID, and Windows Phone will then connect to it when in range.
Is HTC doing this via their own interfaces, or some kind of registry hack? Could we port it to other devices?
http://www.wpcentral.com/htc-releases-hidden-wifi-app-windows-phone1
I don't have HTC so I cannot access this part of the marketplace, can someone pull the XAP and upload it or inspect the contents?

Interop Services, Web Browser, and Data Connection. At a guess, it's using XML provisioning. There may be a way to do this using registry editing, but XML provisioning explicitly has the capability to add WiFi networks.
If so, it *may* be possible to use on LG (where we have some XML provisioning capability) or possibly on Samsung (Heathcliff74 apparently has XML provisioning but there's no source available). Porting the app directly probably won't work though, these DLLs tend to be phone-specific.
Works flawlessly on my hidden network
Here ya go, and i got the HTC youtube to work on samsung along time ago before it was posted here and i can get this one to load now but its giving me a bit of a hassel fully working, not sure if it can work for other devices as well. I already have the dll's resigned, but its saying i need to update to current software. I have NODO so not sure what this is meaning? I know that HTC uses specific drivers for their apps just like the youtube abd the digital compass that i have but i cant figure out the error of the software, but am sure its possible just like the other apps.
I have HTC Mozart 7 with NoDo and downloaded the app straight from market plce, but it still tells me: "This application requires the latest Wi-Fi software. Please update your phone to the latest system software". Does that make any sense to anyone?
I downloaded and analyzed it. Look here. It cannot be easily ported to other devices, because it uses the WRO1: driver, which is a HTC driver and not available on other devices. The driver was probably pushed to HTC devices lately. HTC users should probably connect with Zune to receive that HTC specific update. It is not the NoDo update.
You can download the original file here:
http://apps.marketplace.windowsphone.com/B9A00766-527B-455A-8A63-8FFF485396B2/CurrentBinary.xap
I removed the sigs, so it can be sideloaded. See attachment. But it won't work on non-HTC.
I guess, in the end, it is just a matter of inserting the right registry values, given a certain SSID. With registry access and knowing the location and format of the necessary registry keys it can quite easily be created for other devices. It shouldn't be too hard.
Few websites that have reported "HTC Update" claim that only users who used Chris Walsh's "ChevronWP7.Updater" that have in fact obtained the HTC update. Can anyone who has not used the "ChevronWP7.Updater" and still enjoyed the update please report country/carrier/phone?

Sideloaded it to my Focus and I get the same message, "This application requires..."
This is ridiculous...
Works perfect with HTC 7 PRO.
This application requires the Post-NoDo update to HTC devices. HTC pushed a new driver in that firmware to enable this functionality.

Multitasking in 7720

7720 background multitasking lacks
Care to illustrate? I'm on 7712 & it works.. Not on all apps la, bt its a beta
Sent from my LG Optimus 7
Mango multitasking wont be good until the apps are updated to resume properly, right now when you go back to an app it usually wont bring you back to the exact spot you were at, because the apps doesnt know that they can and they will as long as the dev knows whats he/she is doing once mango apps start to appear
Be more specific please
Please refrain your question and be more specific. Remember this is a beta build or in your case (RTM build 7720) afterall, and only few apps and games take advantage of multitasking at the moment.
I'm running Mango RTM 7720 and multitasking is fine, much smoother and quicker than the first Mango beta build released in July and it will only get better once its approved by OEMs and network carriers.
RTM 7720 - Gmail syncing issues
Just updated my HTC HD7 to the RTM 7720 build yesterday by starting with a clean install from NoDo and everything went fine.
However, I seem to be having some trouble trying to set up Gmail. I have tried a few time to set it up but it keeps telling me "Attention required" under Settings (Email+accounts) - Gmail.
When I click on it it says the following "Update your information for m.google.com and press Save". I tried that on the browser but it takes me to the mobile version of Gmail and its not helpful at all.
Has anyone else come across this issue? If so, any solutions...???
Thanks in advance

[Q] Unable to send MMS or mass messages Samsung Focus

Hey,
So I purchased an AT&T Samsung Focus off of eBay, and am using a Rogers SIM in Canada. I've read everything, and I am aware that a lot of people are getting this fixed, however everybody seems to be running NoDo or lower. Unfortunately, I am running the Mango "RTM."
I was able to get 3G working by setting up APN settings, but I can't get MMS to work, nor am I able to send out mass text messages (to more than one person).
Is there any fix for my Mango phone, without downgrading? Thanks!
There are multiple answers to this question on this very forum. Try the search feature please but this usually works for everyone that has mms problems. How to get MMS working on LG, Samsung, and HTC

I have already tried this, and requires me to downgrade to something that isn't Mango. Mango doesn't allow the "interop capabilities" library, and as far as I know there isn't any Mango registry editors.
Are you not unlocked? If you are unlocked then all you need do is make the provxml or use the one already made then use the samsung diag thing to run the provision. You can also try this which will show you how to run the provxml file to get the flag set.
Unfortunately, I am only developer unlocked, I should have mentioned that in the original post. My apologies. I want to downgrade back to NoDo, and re-unlock my phone but I don't want to lose my text messages. I'm almost on the edge of doing it, because having a smart phone without MMS is pointless.
Do you know of any way I can keep my text messages, or more specifically the ones from a specific person?

If you are developer unlocked then this should work. You just need to follow the instructions in that other thread to get the provxml file to your phone. On my original thread download the xap open it with winzip or winrar (or whatever) copy the Custclear.provxml file to a directory of your choice. And then just follow the instructions in that last thread I linked to make your samsung provision properly.
Alternatively you could try this tool which allows you to set the ADC flag so you can get your mms running again. Since you are developer unlocked you should be able to run that tool on your samsung.
You could also try downloading "Network Profile" app from the Marketplace in the Samsung Zone section. And see if that works

To my knowledge this is not possible yet.
I actually managed to figure it out, Samsung has a handy tool in the marketplace that does this all for you. MMS is now working perfectly. I had tried this in the past, but the Samsung marketplace was bugged for me.
So, for anybody on 7720 with a Samsung Focus without MMS working download the app called "Network Profile" under the Samsung Zone in the Marketplace.
Thank you for your help Laquox
I downloaded the network profile but do not see any options to make changes to the APN settings for MMS.

[Q] difference between mango jailbreak and developer unlock?

Maybe the question has been answered thousand times before, but I couldn't find some mango specific stuff.
What is the difference? my Omnia 7 is developer unlocked and it's on the latest zune version. I'm able to deploy my self made xaps but not any kind of homebrew. I found some homebrew that should work on omnia7 with mango, like a wifi toggle, but it doesn't. Even sometimes my own xaps do not work.
Any advice?
a few things
with a jailbreak, you can sideload any number of apps. With a dev unlock you can sideload only 10 (3 if you're a student).
with a jailbreak, you can use TouchXplorer, which is basically a file explorer. This leads to possibilities of editing the registry. You can't with a dev unlock.
most homebrew which uses low-level access (native code) will not work with a mango dev unlock. most of them won't even work with a jailbreak, but some do.
if you're looking for a wifi toggle type app, there are good apps now in the mango marketplace. Try Network Dashboard (prettier) or Connectivity Shortcuts (not as pretty). They both give one click access to wifi, bluetooth, airplane mode, and cellular settings.
in the end, to most people, a jailbreak's main advantage is the removal of the sideload limit. so if that's your thing, go for it. otherwise a dev unlock is not bad.
(there's also something called a FullUnlock, which allows you to run native code... this bit's still under development, so i wouldn't be worrying about this for a few weeks yet.)
Cheers.
Thank you, helped me a lot. So there are many advantages of a jailbreak. File explorer sounds interesting.
Am I right that there is no easy method for me to jailbreak without to flash back to nodo?
All you need to do to have mango "jail break":
1. Apply HSPL/RSPL (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647).
2. Flash the new DFT 7720 mango rom (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255143)
Good luck!

2. Flash the new DFT 7720 mango rom (see thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255143)
Good luck!

We must stop saying "jailbreak", it reminds me the iPhone.
Lets just say unlocked or in future and thanks to Cotulla "Fullunlock".

there was a term on wm4/5
edit: got it , "application unlock" was the name of it back in the wm times
I say "DevUnlock" & "FullUnlock" as Chevron is a DevUnlock. FullUnlock would the closest thing to a "Jailbreak/Root" IMO. DevUnlock allows homebrew (Pre-Mango), but it still isn't low level root access short of Heathcliff's Root Tools, which isn't completed yet. FullUnlock IMO is going to be the future of a real "Jailbreak/Root" solution for WP7 with full root/admin access even after Mango. The perfect example of this is that the registry editors we currently have can't display all directories. The "no information available" message for certain directories like "HKLM:System\."
this is from the wiki "http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Glossary#Application_Unlock"

Should we open a new thread with a Poll? So far we have DevUnlock, FullUnlock, Application Unlock.
I´ll vote for the "FullUnlock" too and I am ready to open a new Thread with a Poll but I will not consider "Jailbreak".
Any more Terms?
Quick question.... Unlocking with chevron, is it the EXACT same as if you were to officially dev unlock it? I don't think so?
If I am correct then there should be a DevUnlocked, ChevronUnlocked and FullUnlocked or FullyUnlocked?

Chevron Unlock is DevUnlock. It just uses a security hole that allowed using a custom server/cert, but in the end it just performs a simple registry change of the DeveloperUnlockState entry. There's a few other hack like the prevent relock registry edit & the unlimited side loaded app one, but these can be done with either Chevron or Official methods with the homebrew registry editors.
Ok, so it is really the same thing... Just a few extras may need to be done to properly devunlock your phone (sideload limit etc.)
Well DevUnlocked and FullyUnlocked sound good. Although a name for a ful dev unlocked phone may not be a bad idea? What do you guys think?

Chevron vs Dev unlock
If Chevron is exactly same as DevUnlock, then tell me: I am registered Dev with HTC HD7, Mango beta2 and dev unlocked phone, I am unable to install TouchXplorer, but as far as I have found people using Chevron are able to install it to Mango (I've tried official deployment tool and Xap Installer too - error in both cases)
I have also read, that with Mango it's not possible to install application using ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES capabality - most of Homebrew apps got this.
So is Chevron really same as dev unlock?

The only people I have heard being able to side load INTEROPSERVICES are Samsung users. It is in my opinion that they're getting an incomplete update process that doesn't properly update pacmaninstaller.exe, which is the exe that installs XAP & has been taken apart & found to have the block for INTEROPSERVICES. All Chevron does is apply a registry change, the same registry change that the official Dev Unlock does. It just uses a custom cert installed through a security hole that was fixed in NoDo.
Install other language
Now this is really interesting! If I understand it correctly, the only chance for me with dev unlocked HTC HD7 with Mango beta2 to enable other language, Czech in my case, is to downgrade to NoDo using my backup, install the registry changes and then go to Mango. That's not an easy solution for Czech WP developers
Too bad there is no "hack" for enabling interopservices in Mango, it wil be much easier then

All you need to do is a registry hack? If so & your have TouchXplorer sideloaded already from when you were in NoDo, you can create a CustClear.provxml with those registry values. Copy it to your phone using the USB Storage enabler & than move it to \Windows\ with TouchXplorer. Than just run HTC Connection Setup. It'll import the registry changes in the CustClear.provxml.

I know about the HTC Connection Setup registry trick, but I joined Dev like two weeks ago... until then I have not used any hacks or sideloaded apps. And now with Mango beta2 I can't install TouchXplorer
I got a plan - once final Mango is released in Zune, I'm gonna restore NoDo backup, Dev unlock, do all the registry stuff and then install final Mango using Zune...
Edit: When I remove the ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES from TouchXplorer XAP, it installs now, but it shows no entries. Same for DiagProvXMLv0.7 - it installs when I remove the line, it even looks like it's working, but no matter what entries I add using this app, nothing happens.
