Tablet question - General Questions and Answers

What tablet has the most Roms or biggest community? Amongst tablets I have EVO 3d rooted so I assume rooting a tablet is not much different, or am I mistaken?

Oh what tablet would you all suggest ?
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Wait and get the Transformer Prime. If you must get one now get one of the Galaxy Tab variants.

I would say iPad 2

Sorry but nothing Apple for me except an itouch
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

Apple is too expensive. For no reasons. Almost all programs in market are not free. So why you need Apple if you can have android and do almost everything for free and have better support (it is my opinion on support)

I got the new nook for my first tablet. It doesn'tcome out till the 14th though... I figure for 250 if I dontlike it my mother won't need a kindle fire lol

Google Cr-48 or Xoom?

I'm torn between buying a Cr-48 off ebay or just getting a Xoom. I really like both but the Cr-48 is about half the price. Any suggestions?
How much is the Cr-48 ebay?

From what I've seen it's about $300 to $350
I think it boils down to do you prefer a laptop by google or an android tablet. And have you checked out the g-slate I'm hearing that's a pretty nice tablet as well.

I've thought of that as well but it's $600 on contract, and I can get the xoom off contract for the same price
Off contract is the only way to fly lol. But seems like your leaning towards a tablet. I usually just buy what I like but in this market when saving your monies count. I'm breaking down and going to stores and just trying out a lot of products hands on to see if I like them as much as I do in my mind. You can always sale your something in your mind but not always the case in person.

I've checked out the xoom at the Verizon store, its pretty awesome. Too bad I can't do the same for the cr-48 lol.

Yeah the Cr-48 is an risk factor when it comes to not knowing how it runs. Maybe someone got one on craigslist in your area and willing to let you test drive it in a public place. Worth a shot.

Good suggestion, I'll check it out now

No problem glad to give insight

I sold my CR-48. It just lacks any key features.
Use google chrome on your PC. Everything you can do in there, is what the laptop can do.
same web "apps" Same gmail.
Its just chrome browser instead of an OS.
How much did you sell it for?

Your favorite android tablet?

What is your favorite? Or if you dont have one yet, what is your target purchase? Mine is the Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G.

Motorola Xoom.
Don't know why, just like it
Never used anything except my G-Slate which I like. I wish there were a dedicated section here on XDA for them.

Samsung P1000. Phone functionality in a tablet is a good advantage. Although this tablet only runs on Gingerbread instead of Honeycomb. x_x

Wth HHGregg!?

Why does HHGregg have to make the eee look like less of a tablet, were on 3.2! This came out today
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I believe because this is what it was released with as you have to have internet access to get 3.2. Plus if you are using an ad to determine what $400+ piece of technology you want, you are doing it wrong.
True true, just fun to see the eee in ads after our awesome launch lol

Nexus 7

Just wondering if anyone else here has pre ordered or plans to get one...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I have been debating this since the announcement. It's a tough choice. I have a Nook Color and it's great! The lack of SD card is the only reason I'm hesitating. I don't think I could bear to have to use Google's cloud services for all my storage needs. I may still get it anyways cause I love the specs. IDK
No plans to get one for me since I have the gtab and I love it

I pre ordered on the 3rd and the wait is killing me. There's an entertaining thread in the N7 forum where everyone's expressing the same thing. None of us can wait.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I'm thinking about it but like someone else said no sdcard is kind of lame. I don't mind the cloud thing but come on no SD card?

i am waiting for the galaxy nexus successor.
If I get an actual job, I'm planning on ordering one.

my point exactly...
I'm excited about this because I don't allow myself many "upgrades" in technology. Well, really, life doesn't allow it. I just suck it up and comply. But considering the price tag, the specs are awesome. Of course, I'd like a transformer...but I also want the next nexus phone, so something had to give.
I don't think galaxy nexus will get successor this year.

G nex should because they always release them around holiday season.

well similar specs - both use the same cpu, which is pretty good, but the tf300 has an SD slot and an optional keyboard dock. I think the TF300 is the best deal on a 10 inch tablet right now, but at $379, it's still quite a bit more than the Nexus 7.
The nexus7 is reall nice, and at $200-$250 is VERY tempting
Waiting for Kindle Fire 2
I've heard that as late as August Amazon will announce the Kindle Fire 2 which should be comparable to the Nexus or better.

Ubuntu for phones, will you get it for your g2x?

I just watched the video on Ubuntu for phones os and its looks great! On the website, there's option for the lite version that will work with phones with minimum single core. I'm loosing hope on fully functional jb on this phone and I feel this is the last resort other than buying a new phone. Are you guys going to install it when it releases?
I really want to. But I just don't know how to go about doing that. Also your right, jb is just a maybe, and honestly I really want something stable and fast
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
As long as most of the things work, I'm installing it as soon as it launches.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Indeed this is a breakthrough.... I am waiting for something like this to be installed on my nokia e7
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Correct me, but did it not say it will have to be ported? I was reading if all devices will be getting it. Maybe it will be similar how cyanogen mod work and has different devs for different devices.
I would love to help with that if that is the case.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
The Ubuntu website said that this odd based off the android kernel. It's probably ics kernel because it was on g nexus. This could be notable for us, we may never get this fully working.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
I will give it a shot if it ever comes on this phone
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Uhhh, it'd be the same inherent problem we currently have with trying to get jellybean on these phones...nvidia (closed source) chips. Right? Drivers are pretty important little buggars.
We may have problems yes. But I still would be very happy to be sportin' ubuntu on my phone.
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
IMO, ubuntu on the G2x sounds amazing.
I'll be watching for such development from my polished turd of a device...
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Definitely will try it.
Well hopefully the tegra 2 wont give Ubuntu issues
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
It will give you problems, one of the requirements for Ubuntu on phones is that the have to be able to run ics or jb, nvidia drivers are required.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Yup from now on stay away from LG and Motorola phones
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Except nexus 4. Google handles the updates not lg.

Yeah u r rite on that one . I also have a motorola atrix hd at its bootloader its locked i dont understand how google would lock it
Sent from my MB886 using xda premium
Not having the Java overhead would make it feel like a new phone. Hopefully it can be ported.

There's a good chance this will run on Mazout's CM10.1 unofficial (no radio), and now that Mazout has compiled a fairly easy dual-boot option to this ROM it will be a lot easier to experiment with.

Well hopefully but knowing our device !!! Who knows lol
