[Q] Flashing HTC Surround with DFT rom or downgrade to nodo - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I am a noob on flashing Windows Phones. Since I cannot wait for interop-unlock for my phone I could use some help on flashing my AT&T surround.
1) How do I use the DTF RSPL to flash their rom? If someone has a sort of complete tutorial on how to do that I'll really apppreciate.
2) They said not to use RSPL with Mango RUU or with SHubert 4.XX. I have Mango (7720) installed on my device with all the updates. Can I still use RSPL (version and number looks compatible)?
If not of them is working can I revert back to Nodo (and how) to interop unlock and then upgrade.
I have searched the whole forum but I am not able to get a complete view of the processes.

[Q] Help reverting to original rom

Hi people,
I've tried searching for an answer to my problem but had no luck...
I'm new to wp7. I've just bought a htc mozart on the internet and after receiving it I realized it was originally a telstra (au) model but it is now running Mango 7714.WM7_Main(DFT). I knew nothing about wp7 roms or jailbreak. I realize now this is a custom unbranded mango rom. I wanna revert to the original telstra rom and then update officially to the carrier's mango. I've searched and found this thread with branded roms for the mozart: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=915827
I use mac and not pc. Is it safe to install a branded nodo rom on my mango DFT mozart? If so, how do I do this on my mac? Can I unlock my mozart later with no problems?
anyone there?
It's safe to do so, yes. However, the flashing tool is written or Windows. You can borrow a friend's Windows system to do it, install Windows on your Mac (directly or in a VM), or try using wine (Win32 compatibility software for POSIX systems, including OS X) to run the flashing tool. I don't know which of these is easiest; it's probably not Wine but that's the only one that doesn't require somebody having a copy of Windows (Wine is free and open-source; http://winehq.org).
As for "unlock" that really depends what you mean.
If you want to developer-unlock it, using an AppHub account or ChevronWP7 Labs, yes you can.
If it's SIM-locked and you need to SIM-unlock it, that should also be possible; talk to your mobile operator.
If you want interop-unlock (install and run high-privilege apps in Mango) then no, using the official upgrade will make that (currently) impossible. We're working on an interop-unlock (so-named because it makes it possible to install and run XAPs with ID_CAP_INTEROPSERVICES) for HTC phones that are already on Mango and/or have received the official update, but so far no such luck.
If you want to use the unlocked bootloader to possibly install a custom ROM in the future, be careful - the official Mango update modifies the bootloader in such a way that HSPL (required for custom ROMs) can't be used. Again, people are working on fixing this or providing a way to downgrade, but it's unclear whether this is possible at present without physically opening up the phone.

[Q] Problem - Unlocking HTC HD7 after updating to Mango 7.10.7720.68

Hello xdaDevelopers
i am new here, and already read some of the forums or threads related to my problem but still i can get the right answer that i wanted...
my phone is an HTC HD7 form t-mobile and recently i update it with zune, so now it has accure acquired the new mango FW, after that i want to unlock my phone so i can deploy .xap files and my projects..
i have tried the chevronWP7 but it doesn't work, i gives me an error that i should connect my device in a USB and recognized it by zune, but those things i already have done and still no progress..
i also register my phone to XAP HUB but i cant affored that $99 fee on signing.. thats stupid.. that thing should be free..
can you give me any recommendations that i should do in order to unlock this device in order for me to deploy programs...
thank you
xdaDevelopers RuleZ
Chevron unlock methods only work on OS version 7004 and 7008. Flash it to factory ROM, unlock it and use provxml method to retain unlock in mango and then update to mango.
Or you could use a DFT mango custom ROM.
Follow the instructions to install the Rom in a correct way.
If you have problems to connect your phone with the software
you maybe forgot to install all the drivers and software that is needed.
Do you see in the Bootloader "Serial" or "USB" ???

[Q] abt NewTech ROM_by_ansar and SPL

So.. i've decide to customize my 7 pro. I moved from tp2 november last year.
i've got an official 7740.16 with 5.10 spl and zune backup to 7.0.7xxx
so i've restore my phone to that point, update to mango and ended up with 4.xx spl
follow that tread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1013810
i've downgrade spl to 1.22
then hspl by dft.
and i've install NewTech rom succesfuly. then deployed xap. following instruction i've update phone via zune to 8107
now i've got spl 5.11
my questions are...
what could went wrong?
what if i'll try to install another rom or something.. ?
should i run to the nearest forest?
you received the spl 5.11 because of the htc update after 7740, or is it after 7720. one of them but with the u2m8107.xap from ansar you can block the htc updates and your spl stays like it was on the begin. what could went wrong? for the future, dont flash any rom if you have above 4.1 spl. you must downgrade it and flash a nodo rom. that saves your device from brick
Hi.
As i said i went down from 5.10 to 3.xx and then to 1.22 with instructions from thread above. so thanks for warnings, but i've read all posts from customizing wp7f category
i don't even think that flashing custom rom with higher spl than 2.1x is possible.
And i thought that in Ansar's rom thread is clear instruction how to update with that xap file with zune. Specification of that rom also says 'zune updateable'. I'm 'probably sure' that i've checked bootloader after first update to 7740. And hspl was still there.
I've checked today.. Zune restore isn't possible. So all i know is to wait for hspl 5.xx
Or do that Y cable thing. But i don't know why.

Any Way to Roll-Back to 7740 or 7720 from 8107 if I didn't Back-up First?!!

I installed the Mango 8107 update on my Samsung Focus S phone, using Heathcliff74's CAB's method, but I forgot to back-up my phone first. Now, I'm trying to install some themes that voluptuary posted, but they won't install unless I'm on 7740 or lower, and my only restore point/back-up is from today, with 8107 ALREADY installed!
Is there any way for me to revert my AT&T Focus S back to 7740 or 7720 WITHOUT having my back-up?!!
Thanks,
Dennis
I had the same issue a couple days back. I had 8107 and wanted 7720 to interop unlock it. Problem was I had no backup what so ever.
So what I did is I went to the phone specific forums and looked around for a Custom ROM (in my case) but originally I wanted to put a shipped 7720 ROM on there to interop unlock and update though Zune. Also looked for a tutorial on there.
In your case it should be in "Samsung Focus (S)" --> "Focus Windows Phone 7 Development".
As people in my question (nearly entirely the same as yours) answered it is only possible to revert back to an older version (if you dont have a backup) if you flash a shipped 7720 ROM.
(people in the phone specific forum will help you further im sure!)
Good luck
Yea, with out a custom rom, OEM rom or a backup your SOL. Sad to say...

For your (@ OP) case I would just recomment a shipped ROM (7740 or 7720) as this requires you to downgrade your bootloader just once.
If you want a custom ROM you need to perform a lot more actions (aka downgrading the bootloader way further) before you can install that, takes more time and is more risky (not saying "a lot" more but speaks for itself)

[Q] Trophy ROM for Mazaa?

Hi everyone,
I am an HTC Mazaa owner and want to know if theres a way to install HTC Trophy ROM on my Mazaa device. Since apperently Mazaa is same in everything to Trophy, so I guess no extra drivers will be needed.
I am very new to all this. So please tell me if theres a chance for installing Trophy ROM on Mazaa, if yes, how.
Thank you.
Please reply people
CPU is different
I think CPU and some chip is diffrent so It is not possible
The answer is no. The HTC Mazaa may share the same shell with the HTC Trophy, but the internals are different.
Is there any other way to install the latest ROM?
OR atleast tell me how to do interop unlock on my Mazaa.
The HTC Interop-Unlock app should work on the Mazaa, unless it has a specific block on the Connection Setup app or its firmware version is too high.
HTC interop-unlock is not working on my Mazaa that has mango. Please help.
... Did you read the info on what is required for the app to work? What's your firmware version number? Prior to Mango, were you able to use provxml apps?

I feel your pain, I have interop unlocked my Trophy twice but with this latest firmware it's impossible. We will have to wait for a custom ROM.
Verizon Trophy is now supported in V3 of DFT's HSPL unlock. I have written a HOWTO guide for Verizon Trophy.
Mazaa, I somehow doubt if DFT is working to support, but you'd need to contact them and ask. They can only work on phones they can get their hands on, and they may not be able to get a Mazaa.
It seems that Mazaa has one stock rom available (i have no way of verifying if this rom works), but it is for Mango. I do not know if this phone shipped with NoDo or if you can find a stock NoDo from for it (perhaps try private messaging Football to see if he has a connection that can get roms for this phone??).
Verizon Trophy can be downgraded to NoDo using the same rom listed in my HSPL guide (it is the only NoDo rom that isn't a store demo).
Hi,
I uploaded the stock mango rom. It works.
I personally don't know anyone with a stock nodo rom for the mazaa.
Connection setup should exit with "no database found" or something like that. Yes, very lame.
On the whole, there's no way to interop-unlock the mazaa yet.
Interestingly, if you register the phone's serial on the htc website, it registers as a SPARK_W, which is the same as the verizon trophy. I haven't tried using hspl v3 to unlock it, so update us if you get anywhere.
but if you do screw up, then just use the stock rom above. ;-)

I am ready to try HSPL V3 but I can't enter the phone's SPL mode. The Volume Down + Power On is not working for me. Can someone guide me on how I can use HSPL V3 on Maaza.
Please reply.
