Replacement AMOLED display - Desire Accessories

This could be good? http://www.ebay.it/itm/For-HTC-Desi...ssories_RL&hash=item2eb94524ad#ht_3431wt_1005

Any AMOLED should be fine IF your phone originally came with it. Your motherboard is key part in this story, so you can't just switch SLCD for AMOLED and vice versa.
If you had SLCD, there are two types of it and they are NOT mutually compatible (different motherboards) which makes online shopping a little bit risky if you don't have proper information about phone's parts (serial numbers).

My question is... how can it be AMOLED and LCD - which is what the seller is advertising LOL...

amoled is a type of lcd

different screens in our TF700 beware.

I got my 4th unit yesterday, Serial C07. The different with this unit apart from the others i have received is that you can clearly tell it has a different (cheap ips screen). The units i have returned have been because of defect (last one i bricked :crying. The one i receive yesterday is in almost perfect condition but notice the screen has bad viewing angle. Is still an ips screen but the view angle is bad because the contrast is not high enough (thats what it seems). Not sure how to explain it but when you turn the screen to the side you only see a bright backlight screen (not backlight bleeding, 2 different things). it make everything look like a cheap TN screen with great viewing angle (for a tn screen). I'm going to replace my unit again today.

Super AMOLED screen burn problem.

This is a actual photo of my sisters galaxy S phone with screen burn. Samsung Service Center in my area said it is a burn problem. Since no more warranty for the phone, replacement of the screen is needed but LCD screen will be used since they have no spare samoled screen available. Cost is about $200 usd. Is this a problem for all Super Amoled devices? Is there a way to prevent this? Will we experience this with our Amoled devices sooner or later? If so them maybe its best to stay away from Amoled till samsung perfects this tech. Am so disappointed with Samsung.
I have heard of screen burn in on AMOLED but have never seen it so severe.
I decided to stay away from AMOLED a few weeks ago when I realized the subpixel layout caused fuzziness

that issue is prevalent in all AMOLED screens.

[Q] Replacing my SLCD with an AMOLED screen

Hello
My I9023's SLCD screen is busted and I need to replace it.
Can I use an AMOLED one like the one on the I9020?
Screen Replacement
From what I read. Those two type of screens are not interchangeable. Something to do with the digitizer stuff thing. That's why BLN apps are harder to implement on SLCD types than their AMOLED brethrens. Better save up and sell your broken phone for parts and get the AMOLED equipped Nexus S if your still up to it. Or I could be wrong. Just my 2 cents buddy.

I'm in the same situation with my i9023 but i'd like to repair it by myself. I've read some threads that after mounting the new screen everything works but the touch, does this happen with both brethrens (SLCD, AMOLED) or just one in particular?

Are all the LCDs the same?

I recently dropped and broke my phone due to bleeding. The LCD is now completely black and needs to be replaced. The phone is g920w8.
My question is: Are there different LCDs for different variants?
So can I get a g920 lcd replacement from amazon and will it work on this device?

First off, it's not an LCD panel, it's an AMOLED panel and as far as i know it's only made by Samsung (correct me if i'm wrong).
actually i checked those LCD panels on amazon, and i felt suspicious.. also reviews saying poor quality, and i think it'll never compared to the original panels made by Samsung.
So, are you still in warranty ?, can you bring it to any of Samsung's service centers ?

S5 replacement displays listed on ebay as LCD not AMOLED

Hi, I cracked my screen today! Completely dead.
On ebay UK I only see replacement screens listed as being LCDs. I'm unsure whether this is the seller being completely accurate that they are offering a lower quality part than the original, or if they are mis-naming what is actually an AMOLED screen because they think everyone searches for LCD and not for AMOLED, nobody knows the name AMOLED maybe. I don't mind not getting an original Samsung replacement display, but I do want it to be OLED of some kind rather than LCD.
Does anyone know what the deal is here? I've messaged a few sellers but am not necessarily expecting a technically accurate response.
Thanks.

I've noticed this myself and found that this reference is common (and there's no such display made that's truly LCD) as long as it's specified as being compatible for your device.
Other terms used are "Digitizer", "Digitizer Display" and "Digitizer Display Assembly" on top of a handful of others.
Good Luck!

Thanks, that was pretty much what I had assumed. I just really didn't want to spend the money and end up with an LCD!
LCD Screens are a cheap alternative for replacing the costly Super AMOLED, although, color and image quality are nothing in comparision of a real AMOLED and you will loose some features like Smart Cover and Ambient Display (since LCD screens cannot turn off individual pixels like amoled does), Battery life can be compromised too as LCD displays consume a little more energy than the amoled.
For the price of an original Super AMOLED display (90 Usd aprox) is a better deal to grab a used S5 with a display in mint condition ( the same 90 USD)

James, you're saying that LCDs are actually manufactured as third-party replacements for S5 displays?
I really hope that's not true as I've just bought an eBay item listed as an 'S5 LCD'. I will be very disappointed if I don't receive an AMOLED. I guess I can't argue with the price though.... (20 pounds = $26)

In 2015, Samsung was looking to manufacture the "2K LTPS LCD" display for the Galaxy S5 to replace the "2K resolution AMOLED" displays.
This apparently didn't happen and the "2K resolution AMOLED" displays remains.
I've encountered so many sellers stating the LCD incorrectly.
I do know that the following website link is to a replacement Digitizer Display for the Galaxy S5 and is very reputable with their parts and guides.

Just providing another option...
Remember that there's separate Digitizer Display Assemblies (both the Digitizer and glass) and there's Screens (the glass only) that are much cheaper but, a nightmare to separate from the Digitizer Display itself.
Good Luck!

For posterity's sake... I received the new screen today and it is a backlit LCD. This is a bit disappointing but at least it works and is not terrible quality like the last display I bought on ebay.
Pros: cheap, fast shipping
Cons: it's not an AMOLED, colours are pretty muted, the backlight bleeds around the edge of the screen glass even when the display is sealed in place!, the back button is not very responsive, the display is a little thicker than the original and sticks out past the frame instead of being recessed slightly behind the frame.
The item I ordered was called "For Samsung Galaxy S5 i9600 G900F Black LCD Display Touch Screen Digitizer UK" from ebay seller wonderdigital: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332929429585
